Because often times proper design is not taught in Uni, instead everyone pushes for maximum detail and tries to show off their skill

Will it have modding tools? If yes, it's possible, though he would have to create a classical looking CyberDemon that still uses the same skeleton.

The worst part is that the Cyberdemon is one of the creatures that could still be taken seriously in a game with semi-realistic visuals with minor alterations to it's design. Imps/Cacos/Arachnotrons/Hell Knights are toony enough to warrant a redesign but there's nothing at all in the classic cyb design that clashes with modern visuals.

At this point it just doesn't work with the rocky shitty dark crusty texture he has on his body, it looks horrible in full red...which is another thing they fucked up. He is meant to be a lot more fleshy, I would even make him half decomposed shamble of muscles with lots of bleeding and all that.
He's got a cyber leg but that doesn't exactly save the design.
Main thing that bothers me is the lack of a bullish head. In fact, I think if all the demon designs used anatomy from actual creatures that exist on earth and less sci-fi bugshit in their design it'd make them feel more "Demonic". More goat skulls and exposed flesh. Less random mandibles, that's more of a bug-alien thing and is the main reason the mancubus and cyberdemon look like generic aliens.
As I said before I don't think that even bullish head or anything like that would save the designs that much, the main thing it needs is color break up so that you actually see fucking details.
The metallic parts are the same dull colors as the rest of the body with a tin of red/brown to them.
It's pretty bad when even in a still screenshot you have to look close to see he has metal limbs.
That's the defining feature of the Cyberdemons, you shouldn't have to look for it, it should be right in your face

I really fucking hate how all the enemies are the same brown color as the environment. The fact that they need neon glowing parts because they'd otherwise be indistinguishable from the background is disgusting. For as slow as the trailer moved, I still couldn't tell what the fuck I was looking at.

That's because Evolve made sure the humanoid elements in their design were clearly visible insuring a bit creepiness when looked straight on. That and the fact that the things start not much bigger than humans then grow to the size of a house also helps.

There were plenty of details in the original models that didn't carry through to the sprites. Doom's enemies were well designed, Doom 4's look like they're made of random organic material and rocks. "Sprite limits" have nothing to do with anything.

TF2 is still far less casual than consolized cover shooters with regenerating HP.
It has explosive jumping, health pickups, shitty last resort melee, no sprint and the fastest possible passive health regen takes 30 seconds to heal you up, making it unfeasible to use in combat.
TF2 may not be an arena shooter, but it's not anywhere near Halo or COD when it comes to casualization.
Every time i see a doom 4 screenshot i lose a little hope. I no longer have hope. They would have had a better chance of me buying it if they announced nothing at all before release. They have to know this game looks like shit right?

The old DOOM and DOOM 2 are so strange because they hold up so much better than you'd think, they aged like wine, sometimes I just play them to blow off steam, sometimes I play them when I'm bored of modern headache-inducing shooters. They just so simple and fun.

First off I'd like to address that most of Halo's hate comes from people who are unable to play it or suck at it. Halo is a difficult game to get good at.
I use to spend 1 hour playing octogon everyday(every time I got on) just to get better. You can actually train yourself in Halo unlike other shooters that have 1 or 2 shot deaths making you run around spraying or camping.
No game out there has been able to replicate Halo's gameplay. Look at COD, BF, CSGO, etc.. they all look and play the same, with unbalanced loadouts/maps/weapons/vehicles/killstreaks and shitty spawns.
Also Halo 5 is way faster than this game, battlefield, and csgo. Looks like all the people comparing this games speed to Halo 5 are COD kids.

"fastness" is always relative to environment. If the maps are small enough then they can justly say that the movement speed is fast.
Besides, it's not like we have many better alternatives. The movement in those webms looks faster than it was in UT4.

I have played the Alpha twice on two separate occasions and you could move much faster than that. It's not classic Doom speed but it's somewhat close.
Also, that player is unbelievably shit. He or she must be purposely playing bad. I was going about 30 kills to 5 deaths per game using a rocket launcher and doubled-barreled shotgun.

Killing something in the original doom with the super shotgun felt good because of the huge (for the time) blood splat and the crumpling animation.
Without it doom plays pretty blandly and wouldn't be the game we know today.
My problem with this design is the texture. When you see the original Cyberdemon you see it has skin and flesh, which you can rip and tear because he has huge guts. In this one it looks like he's made of stone or wood, the carapace is completely out of place in an enemy that dies exploding in a shower of blood. How are you even supposed to rip and tear its small guts? Pull them out of his ass?

Looks fine in terms of texture and model, but the skeleton should be more human-like, the scarriest thing about a cyberdemon was you knew it was probably sentient and smart as fuck just based on the way it stood like a human, ontop of the fact it has a broken ass weapons, a fuckton of hp, and 6 feet on you.
The skeleton of the one on the right is too animal-like. I assume the animations are too, so instead of feeling like you're fighting some sort of demon army commander it's just a generic brute.

If you showed all this footage to people and didn't tell them it was Doom, they would never, ever guess that it is in fact Doom. Absolutely nothing whatsoever about any of what we are seeing stands out as Doom. There are other games that have more in common with Doom by coincidence than this game which actually is Doom.
I played it on console and was absolutely butchering people when playing it. I moved faster than these clips and played way better than the utterly crap player we have here.

I have played the original, Doom 1, Doom 2, Final Doom, shit, even Doom 64. Fucking loved them (wished you could jump, but it was the 90s so not complaining). It can't compare to the original, as if it's too similar, it's a copy but due to increasing software, you can't put the amount of enemies that Doom users are used to.
I would love to see Slaughterfest like maps or gameplay combined with something similar to the classic maps but then it might go into Serious Sam instead of Doom.
Now I think of it, everyone who does like the game, post a video of what you want. I want Unreal Tournament but a little bit slower (if it starts blurring then it gets fucking ridiculous).

Interesting on the devs, I need to keep an eye out on that. Looked up the tribe and HiRez, amazed they admitted that.
I do want this game to succeed but I think with the current software, we can't get that classic Doom but we can get it close. The looks so far have not bothered me (apart from the Cyberdemon,-needs to be scarier, like a living Greek Minotaur statue or something). Faster speed as well but not too fast so your character is turning into the flash. Before I forget, chainsaw instant kills I'm not a fan of either.

Can't record the footage unfortunately, it's why I have none. I tried looking at Youtube to find something but no luck.
I do think this can be saved but we need to make an effort. I honestly think if this game fails, then there will be no more Doom or Quake. I don't think developers will want to risk making fast-paced games of any type.
Basically, I don't want what happened to RTS games. I wish a Dawn of War 3 and Supreme Commander 3 could be made.
I'm an old hardcore doomfag, I will buy Doom 4, enjoy it for a while and go back to classic Doom.
