Why does everyone here hate video games?
Just look how far we've come in only FIVE fucking years. This shit makes me so happy. Five more years and we'll be at photorealism. This is incredible.
>Station to Station isn't his favorite Bowie album
Nate's so fucking hot.
The fact that a (most likely) straight guy had to model his pecs, body hair, crotch and everything gets me rock hard.
Kid, you know what a bluray movie is? Those are 1080p, 24fps and look better than any game that space heater PC of yours can run.
Props to ND for going for graphics that actually look photorealistic rather than simply having good numbers on paper for techfags to jerk off to.
Stunning attention to detail. The subtle expression on Nates face on the left shows such a huge leap from last gen. Look at how realistic the sweat is on his chest. Really impressive stuff.
>best PC game of the year
>can run it on a per 2000
>best ps4 game
>"from betrayed us. Meme game shit fps" sour faggotry from project beast being a ps4 exclusive
That's basically it.
It's not exactly original or unique, but it's competent in what it attempts to do
For the most part.
It's not perfect and there are a few flaws that somehow manage to plague every single game and never get fixed.
I would say the undying praise is unwarranted, much like The Last of Us, but overall I enjoyed them enough to keep going.
Definitely my least favorite IP from ND, but the likes of Crash and Jak are hard to top.
I guess the TLoU team is developing U4, and since I enjoyed TLoU more than Uncharted I'm more optimistic this time.
Everyone's making this an Uncharted 4 thread when it should be a generational graphical comparison thread.
Why do people act like games haven't advanced since the original Xbox? The advance shown in OP's pic is one of the biggest I've ever seen. Progress is still happening very quickly. Jesus, imagine a 2025 Naughty Dog game. I assume it will be completely photorealistic.
Because the only video game related location on the internet you visit is /v/. This shithole is filled with pathetic retard, shitposting contrarians until the end.
I've been playing a little game where I keep track of how long the /v/ hivemind can pretend video game graphics haven't been advancing. It's quite hilarious how retarded and without self awareness some of the cretins on here are.
nice bait Uncharted 3 looks nothing like that
You can get shit like this even in one generation.
Compare Jak and Daxter to Kingdom Hearts II
Or Resistance: Fall of Man to The Last of Us.
Some people consider the NES to have effectively been two generations within itself, from a graphical standpoint.
Shit's crazy. I wonder what 8th gen games will look like at the end.
I see you are one of those childs that likes to get the last word in and thinks he won the argument cause he got the last word without even having any real argument in the first place
So go ahead and get the last word since there is nothing to really discuss with you
Reminder to remember the previews vs actually game
>I wonder what 8th gen games will look like at the end.
Pretty much what they look like now. The consoles have no unique hardware quirks to take advantage of since the architecture is x86 and we know exactly what the components used in the consoles are capable of. There's nothing funky like the cell or whatever the fuck Nintendo did with the N64 for developers to learn and push the console with.
Reminder neither of those are actual in-game and just prerendered cutscenes
I'm so glad you're in the minority man. I read an interview a long time ago with some CEO or something at Take-Two interactive, he said something like "Games won't truly affect anyone on an emotional level until we near photorealism". He really was correct in many ways.
I've always enjoyed games but honestly? We only very recently surpassed Toy Story and that's exactly when I started becoming emotionally attached, becoming genuinely immersed. Graphics matter much more than people give them credit for
When you're looking at something that appears 99% real, your brain gives it importance and treats it like the real thing. Playing San Andreas is like playing with toys, GTA V is like living in fucking Los Angeles. It's a vast difference.
And guess what man, gameplay's been evolving too. Playing your average 05 game vs your average '15 game is a very different experience and you know it
What are you talking about? Who are you talking with that says games haven't advanced since 2 gens ago? I know people can't see the difference between this and last gen but I've never seen that opinion shared.
>that's exactly when I started becoming emotionally attached, becoming genuinely immersed.
Maybe you just need to play games that appeal to your emotions.
There isn't a single game aiming for realism that I've ever been immersed in.
In fact the one game I've ever truly lost myself in was Journey, and that's heavily stylized.
I've been more emotionally invested in Kingdom Hearts than I ever was in Uncharted.
Graphical fidelity has nothing to do with it.
And if it does, it's highly subjective.
>loving the fuck out of a game
>you stop for a moment to admire the detail or beauty in the game
It's an enjoyable part of gaming, yes.
I like it because of what a spectacle it all is.
Its not like other third person shooters where you are just in an area shooting people, there is always shit going on around you.
Instead of just being in a plaza shooting people you are in the back of a plane that is tearing itself apart midflight while its cargo shifts around creating moving cover.
Instead of shooting people in a forest you are shooting people in a building that is currently falling down around you.
Instead of shooting people at a station you are shooting people on a moving train while climbing around it, eventually leading to a helicopter blowing it up, its great.
I'm not in anyway proclaiming Uncharted is the be all end all of gaming, but I think they are pretty neat games.
Multiplayer is also surprisingly fun and I don't know any other games that area as vertical and free flowing as it.
>And guess what man, gameplay's been evolving too. Playing your average 05 game vs your average '15 game is a very different experience and you know it
Yeah, different in that it's much more streamlined so the average retard will buy it. San Andreas was chock full of fun shit to do and a shitton of places to go. GTAV is one city with like two interiors outside of the missions and then 80% desert/water/mountain with fuck all in it. Even the average AAA and licensed games are the same fucking copypasted Ass Creed/Bamham formula over and over and fucking over with slight gameplay differences. I remember starting up Tomb Raider 2013 and playing for a few hours and wondering if I had accidentally downloaded a Tomb Raider mod for Arkham City.
Christ, can't you people extrapolate on anything? Have you never enjoyed the view in any game outside of FF? You probably have! My point isn't that FF has nice graphics, it's that those kinds moments are enjoyable for the player.
>make shitty games
>games are shitty even by classical standards
>games from literally LITERALLY 20 years ago still hold their own against modern games because they weren't made by greedy uneducated swine
>call shitty games shit
>LOL GOOD OL V THE VIDEOMEME HATING VIDEO GAMES AS USUAL THAT'S THE REASON FOR IT NOT BECAUSE IT'S PURE LIQUID SHIT OR ANYTHING
>The differences won't be as pronounced
That was the point, there won't be much of a difference. The hardware in them is nothing new. I don't think there's going to be that much more room for a lot of optimization because again these consoles are using what is basically existing laptop hardware from several years ago. The optimization you'd see later in a console's life typically stemmed from familiarity with the hardware, but there's nothing too strange that needs to be familiarized with here, there are likely few new techniques to be learned that haven't been learned already because the hardware isn't really new or unique.
Oh okay, gonna compare a game eleven years old with the reboot of said game
Star Wars Battlefront II
>Fun as fuck
>Great graphics for it's time
>Based on skill
>Aged like a Dom Perignon that has been taken care of.
>I always loved to kill all that rebel scum, even felt like a stormtrooper while playing.
Star Wars Battlefront (2015)
>Looks very pretty.
>Does the San Andreas vs GTA V comparison not change your perspective?
Did you really felt satisfied by that shitty ending in GTAV not one in particular, all three.
I loved to see that piece of shit cop die a slow death in GTA SA
>Graphics matter much more than people give them credit for
No, they don't.
Good writing, realistic, relatable characters and a believable world are all a lot more important for establishing an emotional connection with your audience than whether or not what they're seeing is photo-realistic.
Before you respond, "realistic" and "believable" do not mean, necessitate or expressly benefit from, photo-realism.
>focus all your budget on graphics and story and cutscenes and realistic CGI and online multiplayer with killstreaks and cheevos
>no money left to make the actual gameplay good
>it's just a generic hallway simulator with quick time events
Next gen consoles were a mistake.
>proceed to call every established, quality franchise shit to undermine your old standards, further lowering the comparative quality of the originally criticized game without even realizing it
