I find the weapon customization to be part of the replay value. Not strong enough to finish the Chrysler building? Go beat the Final Boss so you can go through another run of the game.

I bought it for 5 bucks and did not regret my decision. This is one of the best PS1 games, shame the equal went full blown resident evil clone - it was not worth 5 dollars.

It had much better combat, weapon/spell variety, and replay value.

All the guns in the first game are essentially the same and there's only two or three useful spells.
