How's Wild Arms?

Pretty good

Pretty depressing, great characters and soundtrack though. The battle system is slow as molasses, but the game is quite memorable. The remake was poor.

Pretty great, but really showing it's age.

Outside of battle is fine, story is good, characters good, some of the best designed dungeons you'll see in a video game, problem is battles are really bad. There is little to no actual strategy or even challenge involved, it's just spam the strongest attack you have vs boss or normal attacks vs enemy.

Alter Code F significantly improves on battles and graphics, but everything else is basically worse.

PS1 version is good for most stuff except the battles (and there is a lot of them).
PS2 version has good battles but not much else.

It's a pretty great PS1 RPG game and I'm still amazed that everything fit into one disc. It did the Guardian system a hundred times better than FF8 and this came before FF 7. The soundtrack is great and it has a great story about the three main character.

The remake is shit and I recommend avoiding it

used to own it when it first came out. never got around to beating it. Bought it on psn a little while ago and beat it. Everythings except the combat imo.

Great soundtrack in the first and second games.

It's been too long, but one thing I very recently realized looking back now is that I REALLY loved dashing in those games. The way you'd slide and drift just a bit, and you could learn to use it to turn corners fast...

It's the little things that are the most memorable.

He's more akin to an android. They compare him to the demons which are also robots. The difference is he was made by humans to combat the demons when the golems weren't enough. But then they scrapped that project in favor of the guardian blade. At least that is my understanding of it.

They're not robots. They're metallic based lifeforms. Essentially they're aliens made of metal, but it's organic metal that grows just like flesh and bone.

Rudy is based on something similar to this. He has blood and bones and flesh, but at a molecular level it's metal instead of carbon.

Probably a shitter for only having played WA4, but its probably the comfiest party I've ever experienced in an RPG. Really solid boss fights, too.

I love all the Wild Arms games, some more than others but they're all amazing in their own sense. Stories and music are memorable in all of them. Fucking love them all.

2's flaw isn't the gameplay, but the editing. It's the only professional example I know, where the localizing team went the other extreme, and instead of changing fucking everything, they went retard literal.

There's a lot of basic english mistakes, but in particular, one of the villains has these absurdly long-winded wordplay conversations with the MC, and they left it as-is. It probably sounds pretty smooth and freeflow in japanese, but a lot of it makes no fucking sense at all in the english script.

I rented it before FF7 came out so I always have a good memory of it and it still gives me a comfortable feeling so I do a replay of it every 2 years at least, best music, not very generic setting for jrpg, good dungeons, great spite work. Naruke is pretty much a musicial genius just look at her history.

I remember the first time I figured out if you didn't immediately start the game it'd play a secret prologue cutscene I almost shit my pants

I thought I was close, considering the fact that all but one (?) statue was destroyed, and the demon mother was almost fully awake.

Thought that the last statue would be destroyed, and then it's off to fuck Mother's shit up.

Game is quite nice though, very comfy, and the dungeons are great. The combat is just so boring that it makes it a chore trying to get myself to play through it. It's not much of a problem once I'm playing, but it's hard to start.
