Hey /v/ i'm a student who has a lot of free time during the day and I was thinking about getting something to play on throughout the day. Is a ps vita worth getting? If so how much would be a fair price?
The PS Vita is the weeb/indie games machine. If you like Japanese games or haven't bought a single indie game in the last five years, it's perfect. If you can't stand the thought of just playing JRPG's knowing that people around you will think you're either immature or playing softcore porn then it's not for you.
too bad the 'whole library' has about 8-9 games worth playing
and the rest are shovelware or nintenbabby garbage
buy a vita op. i'm not even a weebfag and i enjoy playing my vita way more than my fucking 3ds, even after cracking it's asshole wide open
so full of shit it's almost hilarious
maybe if you got it SECOND HAND
>Yeah but considering a 3DS is only like $30 new
Nope. Far from it.
> at least that's how much I got mine for anyways
You got VERY VERY lucky. Nowhere is it selling for 30 bucks.
Yes. Get a Vita.
It actually has games.
That are good.
The weeb machine meme is finally almost over, only newfags keep spewing that garbage.
The Vita is the superior console.
If you buy one now, there is a great sale on the PS store. You can basically get the best of PS1 for $20. And some great Vita games for another $25.
Just buy one on Amazon. The new model. Don't pay more than $200 unless you really want a specific color.
They are all region free.
If you are serious about this, I will recommend you some games.
Don't fall for the 3ds console warriors, the system has awful hardware and the only thing really worth playing is monster hunter. Unless you absolutely love nintendo games you'll find that the library is minimal and dead.
I'd say a Vita is worth it if you actually like the games it has to offer. Actually look into it before you do, though.
Were you not around for this? Are you literally that new?
Idort here. 3ds's library is disappointing once you tried out what vita has. Tho most people are just ignorant and refuse to try anything on the vita since they don't own one anyway. They delude themselves into believing vita has nothing they ever want so it's easier for them to just say it's shit or it has no games.
I have both, and a recommend the Vita. I haven't touched my 3DS in months and I'm playing my Vita right now at work.
The Vita library is great, there's an awesome sale going on right now on PSN, and you also have access to hundreds of PS1 games as well. I love it.
>op asks a question
>faggots shitpost around the answer
HOW MUCH A VITA IS WORTH YOU FUCKING MORONS?!
You got VERY LUCKY and lived near a kmart that was closing down it's entire gaming section. Not everyone is that lucky since it was only selective kmarts that were doing that, not all. Certainly not the ones in new york.
This was a full year and a half or so before it happened; mine kept theirs open until Kmart closed it as a whole.
It was a glitch with their gofer thing and I bought like six of them to resell and kept one.I posted about it for a full fucking day and got banned for shilling, did you retards seriously miss it or are you new?
Sony never offers notable first party support for their consoles, everything worthwhile comes from third parties. There are a ton of Japanese third parties still supporting the vita.
>As of January 13, 2016, there are a total of 1,253 games
>inb4 all of these don't count
You said no games, I provided you games, you meme loving fuck.
Not even dead in the west faggot.
Sony just isn't being for big western titles to be developed you dumb cunt.
Vita has more games than 3DS, and is still getting more games than 3DS. Fucking kill yourself nintenyearold.
$170 for a new 2000 is about as good as you'll get. On rare occasions, you may get it at $150.
I'll leave the used 1000 recommendations to someone else since I don't touch used consoles. My vita was a pure virgin.
Vita is better.
I bought mine over 2 years ago for 220 CAD.
not bullshiting, what i posted was converted to dollars. Here in a certain sand country, vita is so fucking cheap and they sometimes get an up to 30% off discount, good luck finding games tho.
I say get the one you have interest in. It's all about what you wanna play.
I bought my 3ds before I bought my Vita and I personally regret that choice since I ended up liking the vita more.
>take a tall image(in this case a dakimakura)
>image resize width 960
>rectangular marquee tool
>style: fixed size, 960x544
>cut, paste, repeat
I have some wallpapers but if you thought that was too lewd you're not gonna like 'em.
How is the Vita TV?
I'm considering picking one up considering it's so cheap and the games I'm interested in playing are all supported.
Is it possible to play local multiplayer on the PSone classics with the Vita TV or is that not allowed?
Don't forget Vita games. And PS4 remote play.
If you have a PS3 with CFW on it you can also remote play those on the TV I believe.
I would they didn't remove that feature from the TV.
Local multiplayer works on the PS1 games and the like 2 Vita games that support it. One is the newest Metal Slug that released on Vita and the other is Skullgirls which hasn't come out yet.
I think Gamestop has the cheapest price right now for the bundle. Get that over the stand alone since it's a way better deal since it has a controller, Memory card, and a PSTV.
Go to the gym and play Miku between sets.
>The weeb machine meme is finally almost over
This is false. Embrace the weebness.
>1k felt great to hold. Feels sturdy and like its worth the money you paid. 2ks are flimsy.
This is true. I have a 2000 and was surprised how much it felt like a cheap plastic toy. Like the buttons are just welded onto the screen. Really ugly. It's super light though so that's a plus.
If you're someone like me who doesn't want to play Nintendo first/second-party IPs like Pokemon, Zelda, Mario, Smash then there's only really a handful of good games on the 3DS. It was worth getting just for Rune Factory 4 though.
Holy fucking shit you're right. All the vitas I saw a couple of months back being sold for about $100 are gone. Sorry for not checking before talking. Wow, they're really all gone.
OLED version is an easy choice. Slim is slightly lighter and has an hour extra battery life though. Also, the non-USB cable is a non-issue given how you can just buy extra cables for like $3 on ebay.
>remember to wash your fucking hands before you game
I still need to get Gumi's game and play that next. I think I've played all the songs I like in F 2nd to death by now.
There are a few steps you can take. One is full proof.
The first method is always to wash your hands before you game. And not to fucking eat chips and shit while you play.
The second method is to buy a big box of latex gloves and wear a pair while you play.
Depends what kinda games you like. Vita and 3DS can offer you many things but it boils down to what you want and will enjoy on the platforms.
As you can see I am more of a Vita guy 2bh. I do play my 3DS but not often enough, vita gets tons of play.
This, pretty much.
I love my Vita, but if you're mostly interested in western stuff, then it's probably not for you. It's got plenty of games (especially if you consider all the PSP and PSOne games on PSN), but the native library is heavily slanted towards JRPGs, moe dungeon crawlers, hack & slash brawlers, VNs, and rhythm games. All but a handful of the western-developed games for it are indies.
OLED also has burn-in issues, though. And honestly, you don't notice the difference unless you've got them side-by-side.
If they make a third revision, it probably won't even make it to America.
Also keep it in a case when not in use. Screen collects dust like a motherfucker otherwise. And get yourself a microfiber cloth and some screen-cleaning spray for when it does get a little smudged.
Yeah its fantastic. Has tons of games and a solid upcoming release schedule.
I feel like Nintendo fans reach new levels of crazy when it comes to the Vita. Pretty funny.
To be fair, its the same few people acting psycho.
I need to fix my shelf and update, actually got 5 more games pretty recently.
I love the vita.
Best handheld of all time.
why havent you miku'd up your vita yet /v/
If someone is willing to say the Vita is shit, how can they even recommend the 3DS? The 3DS has a complete weeb library with such miniscule pickings, at that point just tell him not to get a portable.
I see someone saying ports while the 3DS has a fuck ton of ports filling its library, i see people saying weeb shit and thats all the 3DS gets. In fact, the Vita has more Western developed games.
So I'm legit confused by the logic and reason behind this.
old picture, probably have 10+ more games. i like the vita.
Great CEs as well on Vita. Mostly Japanese, but still GOAT CEs
And there's plenty of evidence to suggest otherwise, with little to no pictures of burn in minus the same reposted cases. I've had my sin's creed LE for years without any burn in, playing for well over 400+ hours.
Vita is a great device, don't let /v/ tell you otherwise. It just costs too much retail.
If you can find one under $120 on eBay or Craigslist (and you usually can) buy it. The sheer number of games you can play on it and the quality at which you can play them is phenomenal.
Only downfall is that it really is lacking in original mainstream western titles, but if that doesn't bother you you'll have a ball with it. Personally I play the shit out of my PS4 via my Vita. I'm never home and there's so many games I simply wouldn't have ever gotten to play if not for my Vita.
Not saying it happens to everyone, just that there are reports of it happening to some people.
They only suggest the 3DS because they are piratefags and the 3DS is cracked.
Okay, but not to the point it needs to be brought up as an 'issue'. An issue implies commonality and you've yet to provide substantial evidence to the fact. That's my only issue. It can have burn in, but to say its an issue is just misinformation.
Wow, that is the best collection I have ever seen.
First screen has to be cinematic xD, habbit
Well, I guess we're arguing semantics. That it "can have burn in" is the "issue." No, it's not an "issue" in the sense that the RROD was an "issue" with the XB360. It's more like the anecdotal reports of possibly higher failure rates with the 64GB memory cards (also not something easy to substantiate): it's not a deal-breaker by any means, just something to be aware of.
I agree, but that's piratefag logic for you.
Somebody on vitagen made a guide.
Yeah. Sorry the pic was upside down, no idea what that was about. I love the Vita's CEs. I wish the US would get more great CEs like that, but Xseed wont do the big CEs for Marvelous any more, now that they are "Distancing" themselves from Marvelous.
$80 is too much imo. Wait for it to go on sale or the individual games to go on sale for <$20. You should be able to get them for $16 each if you have psplus next time they go on sale.
>will we get a vita successor?
Hopefully not, handheld gaming is dead and if the Vita is the last Sony handheld it will be beneficial for the vita in several ways. It'll still get supported for its entire life cycle from developers either way
Just what I had in mind! Thanks anon.
Gotcha, thanks for advice
Should update that E&L Plus is physical and all the PS3 versions are physical. Should probably mention what is included in the Plus versions too. DLC, ccostumes, dungeons, endings, etc.
I haven't played them yet myself, but, as I understand it, the recommendation as far as the Arland games go is either:
-Rorona -> Totori - > Meruru (then go back and do Rorona's new game+)
-Totori -> Meruru -> Rorona
The first option is original release order, and chronological story-wise. The second follows the release order of the Plus versions.
Alternatively, you can just skip the Arland trilogy and start with Ayesha (the first game in the Dusk trilogy).
E&L+ is a LE-only physical, though, isn't it?
>handheld gaming is dead
Only in the west. It's alive and thriving in Asia, where Vita is actually doing better than PS4.
I have both. Here are the games I have enjoyed on each:
3DS; Super Mario 3D Land, Smash 4, Fire Emblem Awakening, Pokemon X/Y/OR/AS, Xenoblade Chronicles, Persona Q, Theatrhythm, Majora's Mask 3D, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Yokai Watch, A Link Between Worlds, Kid Icarus Uprising, Star Fox 64 3D, Bravely Default, Professor Layton, Phoenix Wright Dual Destinies, Shin Megami Tensei 4
Vita: Tearaway, Rayman Origins, Lumines Electronic Symphony, Persona 4 Golden, Danganronpa 1&2, Superbeat Xonix, Persona 4 Dancing All Night
Vita losers will come in and say that I haven't played all the best games, but I don't like visual novel garbage, which is literally the only thing on Vita other than the games I listed, and a bunch of multiplats that I'd rather play on a console. I regret buying the Vita, while my backlog on the 3DS continues to accrue because I can't play the games that come out fast enough.
>E&L+ is a LE-only physical, though, isn't it?
Yes. Though even after it sells out, there may be a restock on it like Ar nosurge plus got.
>-Totori -> Meruru -> Rorona
I could never recommend this order. It just ruins too much storywise/character development. The only benefit being you don't have to go back to the older game mechanics. But fuck if you can't handle old game mechanics, you might as well never play all the best jrpgs in the past 2 decades.
I played mine a fair bit, there's a handful of worthwhile games but I'd suggest getting a PSP and getting custom firmware instead if you haven't got one already.
If you are dead set on the Vita though, get the 1000/fat that has the OLED screen. 2000 a shit aside from vastly better color options.
>visual novel garbage, which is literally the only thing on Vita other than the games I listed
Not true at all.
Vita has the definitive version of Muramasa (only other version was on the Wii and the Vita has additional content).
It has the definitive versions of the Atelier Arland and Dusk trilogies (again, yes, they have console versions, but the Vita adds extra material so they aren't really conventional multiplats). Same goes for Disgaea 3 & 4.
It has two (soon to be three) exclusive Senran Kagura games (but maybe you don't care about those since you don't list the 3DS SK games, either).
It has a bunch of DRPGs (Demon Gaze, Sorcery Saga, Dungeon Travelers 2, etc.).
It has Ys: Memories of Celceta.
It has updated versions of EDF 2 & 3 (2017).
It has Freedom Wars, Killzone: Mercenary, and Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
All of those games are either strict exclusives or else definitive versions. None of them are VNs.
Do it faggot
Digital copies of Wipeout HD = crossbuy, so you get the full PS3 game and the entire campaign/online of it on 2048, though at 30 FPS instead of 60.
The vita version of Wipeout HD actually runs better the faster speed class you play (which is fucking weird)
also try to get a unopened copy because you need that stupid online pass to buy it.
As I said, I haven't played them. I was just trying to explain the chart as I understood it.
But for what it's worth, my intent when I get to them is to follow chronological order.
>2000 a shit aside from vastly better color options.
I quite like my 2000. The better battery life alone is a major advantage.
Play them both. It's a series, after all.
Aren't you provided a free online pass on a digital release? Which speaking of isn't a bad way of doing it, compared to other cartridge releases Wipeout isn't as hard on the memory card.
>calling anyone a loser
>Play them both. It's a series, after all.
Isn't this just one of those games that has more content in the later iterations? There's no story to experience right? Also visually 4 looks great but 2 looks like ps2 tier graphics.
Not sure about 2, but 4/2025 is definitely billed as a sequel to 3/2017, story-wise. It's not story-heavy, but there is a story.
And 2 was originally a PS2 game, so the graphics are as one should expect.
Pick up a vita and start learning Japanese.
Also, EDF 4.1 on Steam is still just a rumor, isn't it?
I've seen no confirmation at all, and the purported leak people were pointing to has been largely discredited.
Plus, the only EDF game on PC is a non-main-series game that wasn't developed by Sandlot.
Luminous Arc Infinity, I still can't believe how op panties on head are. So much defense, I still have not replaced it after 5 chapters too bad it's a undue item.
