Contagion. Bought it for like $2 cause it looked cool. It's a rip off of Left 4 Dead except it does everything objectively worse. When I first started playing it was Early Access and people were saying "It'll get better stop complaining!", it was "released" and I went back to see what they improved. Literally nothing. It was the same shitty fucking game, and people were still defending it.

It's the reason why I don't buy Early Access.

Empire Earth II. The original was great. The sequel was bad in all ways it could have possibly failed.

Men of War. Holy fuck is it bad.

Deus Ex Invisible War
I haven't really checked the backstory but as far as I know it was made by pretty much the same people. Un fucking believable. Really it.. it's so strange it must say something about the human condition. How can you make such a nice game and follow it up with that? how can it happen?

Both Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne combined into one big disappointment ball. Played DaS2 expecting DaS1 only with more content and better multiplayer, got a worse game. Played Bloodborne expecting a better DeS, instead I got a 20 hour long shitfest with no replay value.

I did the same thing, bro. 2 was such an abject failure that I didn't buy 3.

2 had some really cool ideas- being able to draft a battle map and send it to your AI partners and have them loosely follow it was neat. Capturing "territories" was fun, and I actually like that manner even better than that of my favorite RTS, Rise of Nations- but all the systems and gameplay from 1 was trashed in favor of other shit.

Also infinite fuel in planes made them pretty cheesy, and resource gathering was weird. Overall it wasn't just a bad game, it was an awful game.

It also lagged even good computers like crazy, especially with weather effects.

Wading through the map as a titanic creature of whimsical fantasy while hordes of underlings a-la dynasty warriors swarm around you, with Diablo/RTS style controls? And with Multiplayer? Sign me the fuck up!

When I built my first proper desktop after using a laptop for years this was the first game I got to play on it. The disappointing thing is not that it was broken, or badly designed or ran roughly or anything, it was just so agonizingly boring. I discovered that dota clone games were dogshit long before the term moba existed.

It gets a lot of grief, but its not a "terrible" game, just mediocre and stilted.

Despite all the SJW hate, Im all for representation of characters with different sexual orientations in games, but when you have loads of gay, bi and whatever the fuck else characters crammed into a game so everybody constantly wants your character's dick, it feels like you're playing a bad fanfiction.

The repeating environments and monotanous combat sealed it for me though. 3 dungeons and a handfull of enemies, as well as optional completely random shit that happens meaning on my playthrough I completely missed a party member, quests and important lore though RANDOM CHANCE.

After DA:O which was easily one of the best RPGs of the generation it was like a downgrade in every single way.

Assassin's Creed Unity.

I played the original and Brotherhood. I heard good things about the second but never got around to it and played Unity because my sister gave me a copy for my birthday last year. Horrible game, massive disappointment, low quality in every aspect. It would have been depressing as fuck if I'd spent my own money on it and even though it was given to me, I feel cheated that I lost about 6 hours of my life to that piece of shit.

Contagion really ruined Early Access. The state of the game when I bought it was merely a walking simulator with no ability to do anything else.

Not only the story was bad in mgs4 in a way that ruined the series for me but it had more (bad) cutscenes than fucking gameplay.

People always joke about mgs games being a movie but if you strip, say MGS3 from all of its cutscenes, it still has more gameplay than a lot of modern AAA games.

MGSV might be unfinished but that unfinished game has more gameplay than a so called "finished" game like 4.

I've been playing since Red, and after Gen V the announcement trailer for Gen VI made me hype the upcoming entry to unrealistic standards. I was so excited. I was glued to /vp/ for the year. All the scans and Japanese announcements were only fueling the hype. I was even on board (for the most part) with Mega Evolutions.

I've never been more disappointed in a video game.

I don't know about MOST disappointing, but I just tried this FreezeME game that is supposed to be like an N64 platformer. It had so much potential and actually looks pretty cool, but the controls are fucking terrible.

It tries to mash Mario 64 and Sunshine and fails horribly at both.

Not a shitpost about "hurr durr new games" either, it's quite possibly the worst thing I've ever bought in a long time, not even skyrim was this awful. And I gave it 50 hours to get good.

I can only hope my friends I bought it for got a little more enjoyment than me, otherwise it was a humongous waste all around.

I'm trying to "finish" the game by getting the achievements and endings, maybe doing all the quests and discovering everything if I feel up to it, got 100 or so hours in.

It's so bloody boring. I haven't found anything that makes it fun again after the 10 hour mark, and there's barely any challenge to keep myself awake while going through the game on their bullshit "Survival" difficulty.

The only reason I intend to finish it is to not have any incentive to play it again, and to back up that I don't like it by eating the whole bland cake instead of just a slice of it.

Additionally FFXIV was a flop for me as well.
All those great times in FFXI had me anxious to see what SE would do in XIV.
