I tried watching this but had to quit after the first two words because I can't handle dissenting opinions. I don't really agree with the notion of retiring certain words from the English language or from discussions of certain subjects.

I thought it was especially ridiculous when he was arguing that we shouldn't call games "cinematic" while showing footage from The fucking Order 1886, a game that was blatantly, unmistakably designed to be cinematic.
Does he seriously expect people to not use that word to describe a game trying so fucking hard to resemble a film?

I think the real point TB was trying to get across in this video is that people should be specific in their criticisms of games and not just use buzzwords.
That's something anyone can agree with, but just because a word can be used as a buzzword doesn't mean it shouldn't be used at all.

It reminds me of that /v/ post that claimed fun was a buzzword. Obviously there's nothing wrong with calling a game fun, but some people use it in place of an argument - just calling a game fun and not expanding on what they mean by that. That's clearly bad.

Same applies to all the other words, I suppose. You can call a game P2W but you have to explain why it has a bad business model, you have to explain why a game is cinematic, and so on.

Oh, and yeah, people should stop pretending that calling a game overrated is a criticism of the game itself. Knowing something is overrated can still be useful information though.

The problem with this is people try to use excuses to describe why it's not pay to win.
Best example are games like LoL. Technically (if you play for a million hours) you can unlock all content in the game for free, because of this people will tell you it's not pay to win. Even though if you pay money you can buy advantages.

If you ask me, P2W just needs a better definition.
I'd say if two people have played an equal and set amount of time (say 100 hours), one paid and the other didn't. If the one who paid has access to more than the one who didn't pay, then the game is P2W.
