Deus Ex was literally my favourite thing ever when I was a kid. And I mean it's not a bad game, but now it's pretty clear to me that it doesn't deserve three quarters of the praise it gets. It's on par with things like Skyrim and RDR in terms of being so overrated honestly

Golden Eye is suffering from Carpal Console Tunnel Syndrome.

Nothing FPS related existed on the N64 before Golden Eye except Doom and even that wasn't utilizing 3D properly. So it is easy for a N64 toddler to pick the, wich he believes is the only one, 3D FPS out there and praise the shit out of it.

A few years ago I found my ps1 and went through year of the dragon again.
God damn those games were fun.
I even tried to look up some of the new spyros before skylanders, but I don't think I could even try to play them since I would just have the perfection of the original trilogy in the back of my head the entire time I'd be playing the new games.

Try to play something like Halo 5. Then play Spyro 3. Tell me which game will "feel" better. Tell me which game will be more "fun" to play.

Just do it. Play both one after the other and you'll see what I mean. I can"t explain it myself, graphics are thousands time better, music is orchestral, gameplay seems ten times more polished, it comes with multiplayer, writing is about the same level. Yet despite all the advantages you'll feel more like playing Spyro, and you'll feel more sympathy for the series.
