>they want full price for a remake of a ps2 game
>79.99 maple bucks for the standard edition
>Ratchet and Clank remake is 39.99 syrupy dollars
>God of War 3 remastered is 39.99
>the last of us remastered is 54.99
>79.99 for odin fucking sphere
really what is this shit? I will just emulate the original with its clunky combat
Pretty upsetting. I didn't know I wanted a PS2 remake this much.
It's actually a completelly remade game, new gameplay, improved artwork and mechanics.
It also comes with an remasterized HD version of the PS2 original.
Looks good enough for me, but i'm a Vanillawarefag.
Wouldn't surprise me if they were going to do a new translation for some reason. Also there's new VA work. 5 months seems a bit much though.
Because while the story remains largely unchanged, the way that it is written is way more "verbose"? I don't know if that's the right word.
It's kinda like what happened with the Muramasa Localization.
>There's already a translation
You need to remember there's 2 months to check over that translation to make sure it's ready for prime time, and includes all the relevant Sony cert references and such (such as in tutorials). Not to mention the 3 months in there for Sony Cert in the U.S. because Sony cert is fucking atrocious.
And just to add, SEGA just went through this with Yakuza 5, having a fucking release date delayed because Sony cert was awful, and Sony wanted to use it as a 3rd party showpiece at their event. ATLUS, who was handling PR for that game, probably realizes how shitty things are.
>a new translation for some reason. Also there's new VA work.
Great. Fix the gameplay and ruin the story with literal translation garbage and ashly burch
It's true. Look up on the product description of any website selling it.
>HD Art Upgrade: Known for its beautiful, 2D hand-drawn art style, Odin Sphere is recreated in 1080p and 60FPS, making the vivid even more vivid and the beautiful more beautiful.
>Redesigned for more action!: The controls and mechanics refined in Dragon's Crown have been fine-tuned and carried over to Odin Sphere Leifthrasir.
>New Stages and Enemies!: Extra stages have been added, expanding the world of Odin Sphere. More than just gorgeous locales to be visited, new stages means new enemies to challenge!
>Classics Don't Go Out of Style: Classic gameplay of the original Odin Sphere will remain an option--without sacrificing the upgraded high-definition graphics.
>Japanese and English Voiceovers: Enjoy the original Japanese voices plus new English voices and text.
>new English voices
The old translation was shoddy in some parts but the voices were somewhat acceptable, I hope the whole the cast hasn't been replaced (Gwendolyn and Oswad in particular), otherwise JP voice from the get go for me.
Huh? How is Yakuza even a comparison, the game series was never dual audio and the first game on PS2 had this overblown real actors cast that destroyed the localization budget prompting future releases to always be JP voices only.
Games published by ATLUS USA also don't have dual audio, usually.
Just an example that a game can have Subs and still sell. There's no excuse anymore, when one of the most prestigeous game franchises at your company is entirely subbed with no English audio. A dual audio release is the least you can do, then.
It's a bit hard to explain for me because I'm always bad at describing mechanics
Like, characters just fight differently, and their flow of combat are completely different. Really just download and play the demo if you're interested. If you know the original, you'll feel it right away.
I'm not saying it's not true anon, just saying that atlus are usually garbage when it comes to dual audio, both in development and publishing, and it's great to see a game come out with dual audio.
Of course Europe hasn't even been mentioned yet. Thank god for importing.
>Atlus somehow can't get Sega to publish the game in Europe and has to go around looking for publishers which lately has been NIS America (a fucking American branch has to step in and publish it for them)
>They've been doing this for over a decade now.
Sega has no leadership in Europe. ATLUS was Sega America's replacement. The closest thing to ATLUS or SoJ in Europe is Creative Assembly, SoE is a fucking shell of it's former shadow. I guess either wait for Sega to buy a company in europe (probably Marvelous AQL) or hope CA gets more leeway and steps up as "Europe's ATLUS"
We said that about ATLUS, that they were fine after the Index buyover, but shit happens, anon.
Hell, as a segafag, I was expecting them to be buying XSEED back then, since they were teetering on the edge of bankruptcy at the time. Hell, sega fired their localization staff back then expecting a merger to pick up the slack. But that didn't happen, instead, XSEED recovers and Index trips over it's own shoelaces. I might be wrong, but Marvelous seems like the most likely contender.
in the original every character only has a 4 attack ground combo, a shitty gimmick and unoriginal spells that every other character can cast (tornado, buffs, some explosion)
in the new, every character gets a whole new set of combos, aerial attacks, chargeable attacks, slide attacks, evasion and special skill per character that can be combo-ed, its like a completely new game.
Still waiting for Good Smile to either cancel or ship the fucking nendos.
I bought two copies of #FE and two copies of Leifþrasir.
Fuck yes. I'm actually glad it was delayed because backlog and so many games coming out. Gives me time to finish them all.
It also gives my faggot friend enough time to stop bitching and get a PS4 or Vita.
I have a PS4 so I'm not worried. But it would be nice to get them on PC as well. And that was the Company president, so hopefully we can see something come about from that.
I know Vanillaware tends to build games very platform specific. They run those games on fucking Japanese magic with the amount of layers they have on screen at any one time. So it's not a simple port job for them. Hopefully they can use Atlus's new contacts with Sega to bring in support from criware.
>getting upset about weebs in a japanese game thread
Please, the original translation is horrible. As in, it doesn't convey the point of entire sentence. At one point odette tells of gwendolyn because psyphers literally drink souls from the cycle and it's translated as "you're risking your very soul with that spear".
I do agree the some dub voices were actually enjoyable.
>going through armageddon with the wrong chars
>changed voices because game is basically over
darkova with mercedes
>Ingway backstab wizard
>You control me no longer
>but it's too late, mercedes is dying
>O, Heavens, strike me down
>that heartfelt line, that crack in the voice when he pleads
That I remember it years later is a testament to how good that scene got to me.
Doesn't change that the line still doesn't make sense. Psyphers aren't phozon magnet, you have to channel to absorb them, and they don't do anything to the wielder. Gwendolyn isn't risking anything by using Griselda's lance that she isn't already risking by barging in the Netherworld, defying Odette's jurisdiction to get ger husbando back.
>tfw our dollar dropped down to 70 cents
thank god 3ds homebrew is now an actual thing
Reporting. June can't come soon enough
I already played odin sphre long before you were born, polesmoker. Dont expect me to buy your shitty remakes or remasters, because that all that sony is capable of shitting out these days
Why are Canadians the whiniest pieces of shit on Earth?
>Sony in any way being involved in the development of Odin Sphere or it's remake
Which means absolutely nothing in the current context. Try harder, fag.
