>only 3 weapons
>shitty Victorian setting
so why do we like this game again?
Because it has more like 20 weapons, the setting is really good, and the plot has never mattered in any of the Souls games. Fantastic bosses, great music, and the patches have really done a good job at making it a proper, fun singleplayer game.
So is it worth getting a PS4 for?
I was planning to buy one after Summer or so, but since new GPU's won't be releasing till early Q3 I'm tempted to go for it now.
I'm a pretty big Lovecraft fan if that has any bearing.
Well that's the thing. Not really.
I bought a PS3 for DeS, thinking I might pick up Nier, Vanquish and such, but after finishing Demon's Souls twice I haven't really touched it again. There are already too many games to play.
This thread is just bait but still
I was going to buy one after the summer too.
recently built a PC and all multi plat games will go there
already have a ds4 controller, may as well get a ps4, bloodborne, and a few other exclusives.
Just questioning if 350 usd is worth it
I still do not understand why people like Souls games past the first 2. Each game plays pretty much the same now. You move around a boss wait for an opening and attack. As fun as running/rolling around enemies is, the games have gotten stale. Worst yet the genre is now just infecting other games, at a time where the combat is now stale.
I may be wrong about Bloodborne I haven't played it yet, but from videos it looks to be the same as all souls games.
The one big difference abotu Bloodborne that I've noticed is that when I'm playing my heart rate goes way up and I'm terrified of what's around every new corner.
It's the best horror game this generation.
when he jumps over you backstab him or learn to parry his attacks
In stage 2 just stay close to him and dodge his attacks, you can get to parry him if you time it correctly but i just rather beat the shit out of him
I just found it boring to have to carefully inch every step with your sword and shield up, ready to block at a moment's notice. And when you do end up fighting someone, all you do is wait for a chance to parry but it's not satisfying since there are a thousand skeletons.
I might try the game out properly again some time in the future. Unfortunately Xbox One doesn't play Dark Souls.
These Bloodborne bait threads have been going on since the games god damn announcement.
It's gonna keep on going till Dark Souls 3 comes out, isn't it?
In any case, fuck off OP.
l o v i n g e v e r y l a u g h
Trying to turtle 90% of the game only ever turns you into a shitter
Once you learn to drop the shield or not use one at all is when you get good.
As long as you pay attention to what's going on around you, you shouldn't need to inch forward with a shield up all the time
Pretty sure turtling is how the game was meant to be played. Why else would they shove that sudden boulder out of nowhere at the beginning?
Also the dragon that randomly destroys the bridge.
I died like 8 times to Vicar Amelia and have been pretty good against the rest of the bosses thus far. I'm stuck on Rom the Vaccuous Spider. The amount of damage I'm taking is too much and everything staggers me. I've gotten him below half health like every time but he just rapes me when I get in close. Any good strategy besides git gud? I'm using Kirkhammer in hammer mode with fire paper. Is there a good weakness for this guy? Strategy?
>That sudden boulder at the beginning
So you can learn how to dodge shit? It's actually pretty easy just to dodge right past that. The boulder's there to teach you to pay attention (you can see it at the top of the stairs if you aren't rushing forward blindly) and to remind you that reflexes are important
>there are people who legitimately think Dark Souls 2 is better than Bloodborne or even Dark Souls
>there are people legitimately disappointed that Dark Souls 3 is going to be less like 2, and more like BB/DkS1
The shittiest of tastes
>mfw dark souls 2 is by far the best game in the series
>mfw the music is by FAR the most thematically fitting of the series and actually represents boss movements and tactics incredibly well
>mfw the level design is condensed with fun and consistent enemy placement
>mfw the pvp isn't barren and desolate because soul memory removes wooden level restrictions and you can invade hollows now
>mfw the weapon design, armour design and relative abundance of said things is the most consistent of the series in quality throughout the game
>mfw the atmospheric value of areas such as drangleic castle, shrine of amana and undead crypt including the other varieties of areas we were given, were simply outstanding for the relative problem from software have of succesfully putting atmospheric experience in their game design.
>mfw the bosses are the fairest and least mechanically bugged in the series as of yet.
>mfw the game offers the biggest quality of any vanilla souls title so far
>mfw the dlc for this game is coming out as post game completion created content, unlike artorias of the abyss which was ripped from pre-development
>mfw the only reason there is a massive wankforce is because people are having the same transition from demons souls whereby they realise just how uncreative from software are with their sequels and extended series
>mfw people might ACTUALLY think that demons souls is an original game
>mfw people are actually delusional enough to claim dark souls 1 is a better game than dark souls 2.
>mfw people actually claim that demons souls is anything other than the less realised bland skeleton the future souls games massively improved upon thematically.
>>there are people who legitimately think Dark Souls 2 is better than Bloodborne or even Dark Souls
Um no there isn't? Pretty sure its just a meme. I know there's a lot of idiots browsing /v/ but I don't think any are stupid enough to consider DS2 even a decent game.
This is a good example of the meme.
>but Scholar of the First Sin far outclasses DS and Bloodborne

Aww, you stuck on Cleric Beast, champ?
Rom is a girl
as are all the Great Ones
Because ppl want souls games. They are the /v/ endorsed CoD or Madden. Hope you are ready to never see a game other than souls by From ever again. Shame because I loved AC more than all the souls games combined.
demons souls has the worst bosses, least interesting boss mechanics, least varied and interestingly designed areas, the least balance, the worst weapon and armour design and variety, the least game length and replay value, the least interesting pvp choices, the worst graphics, the worst music in terms of production values, music that doesn't feel decent for the bosses in examples like the storm king/adjudicator/phalanx, least interesting world layout design in that it's level based and segmented, a lack of interesting characters, a barebones story that fails to be very interesting and has the worst gameplay mechanics and feeling through the controls compared to other souls games.
Really, it amazes me that people still hold Demons souls to such a high regard when the ONLY positive it has compared to the other to is that the atmosphere of a few of the levels was slightly better than the sequels.
>I'm a pretty big Lovecraft fan if that has any bearing
the art direction is what draws me to BB, souls game never interested me. if you're that much into lovecraftian horror shit you should go for it
>A lack of interesting characters
Yurt and Ostrava are way more interesting than anyone in DaS, and Ostrava has one of the best character arcs in a souls game.
Also the relationships between Yuria, Freke, and Urbain is awesome and something that the Souls games have yet to top.
>demons souls has the worst bosses, least interesting boss mechanics
Stopped reading there.
Its because its exclusive
However, maiden in black > any souls character (though I have only played DeS and DaS1)
Also fluted armor is quite literally coolest armor tied with elite knight
Furthermore, out of DaS and DeS, no boss fights have good music except Maiden astrea
play the fucking game you meme spouting fuck
Because the life gems and countless ways to heal were stupid. You could grind a few of them and never have to deal with your mistakes. This encouraged shitty game design, as there were areas with mandatory damage and the boss arenas were large enough that you could just run, wait for the life gem to heal then go all out.
In BB and DaS what you have is tighter areas that require you to think about how you heal. In DaS, you only have Estus, which work like something to correct a mistake between each area, and in Bloodborne, the max 20 blood vials are enough to make you think before using them.
DeS is different because the level structure is not designed around finding shortcuts. They are there, but linear progression is more important.
Not to mention how DaS 2 recycled most bosses from the first game (although Bloodborne kinda did it too with Martyr Logarius and One Reborn). DaS 2 had so much filler, man.
>Because the life gems and countless ways to heal were stupid. You could grind a few of them and never have to deal with your mistakes.
I havent played DaS2 but grass was so abundant in DeS that even with natural progression you had 80+ of the highest healing ones provided you weren't a complete bumblefuck
EPECIALLY if you are like me and went back for 1-3 after unlocking the fog gate past tower knight, or done any exploration in boletaria for that fucking matter
Best Eldrich game.
And made by fucking Japs. You'd think you'd need wide open eyes to see the glory.
prove me wrong faggot
>knowing about reddit memes
who's the redditor here?
I'd help but my PS4 is back at Uni. Lemme give you some tips though. When you see him doing that exploding attack, dodge to the left. That attack will always come at your right, and so if you dodge left and forward you can both get out of it and be free to punish him.
Also, when he goes into his second form, make sure you get in a backstab to keep him from going full Super Saiyan.
>Prove me wrong
COD and Madden are first person shooters that sell to normies. Soulsborne games are ARPGs that sell to people who are willing to put in over 60 hours in a game.
Like I said, :^) great post reddit-friend! make sure you go back and post it on reddit too!
I platinumed the game a few days ago. It was essentially my first souls game. I got it in September and quit maybe 5 times simply due to frustration. I quit my first character to start a new one out of that same frustration. I put in around 150 hours into bb. And now I feel completely done with it.
What good boss mechanics does DS2 have? And what interesting bosses? DLC doesn't count.
I'm playing through it now, Demon's definitely has better bosses and boss mechanics.
Dark Souls 2 Boss Mechanics:
>More than one guy
Demon's Souls Boss Mechanics
>Cool as fuck wind strike sword thing
>Blind Boss who finds you through sound
>Boss where you must attack the open wound
>Boss which steals soul levels
>Boss where you must kill a summoner beforehand
>Gimmick dragon lord guy
I don't know what you're talking about.
I can agree with the music, but I liked the rest of the game better than DS2 at least.
All memes aside, how much of an improvement is SotfS over DaS2?
I've avoided all DaS2 dlc because I'm not in the habit of buying DLC for disappointing games.
And it seems to me like SotfS is just putting whip-cream over a massive turd to try and make it appealing again.
> Human or no, the oozing blood is a medium of the highest grade, and the essence of the formless Great One, Oedon. Both Oedon, and HIS inadvertent worshippers, surreptitiously seek the precious blood. -- Formless Oedon
Oedon is a guy
>oh no, he's challenging my shitty opinion!
>I know! I'll just assume he's never played the game and call him a meme spouting fuck XDDD
I've already have and beaten it several times, you shameless shitposter.
That's how I know you're full of bullshit.
What's interesting about literally any of the dark/demon's souls characters? Their history.
Queen of a destroyed lineage that battled with blood magic after leaving the healing church, she wants to birth a great one.
Wants nothing more than to be a Martyr like his previous master, Logarius. Decimates the queen as it's quite obvious his bloodlust for vilebloods sent him absolutely crazy, later kills himself to become the martyr he yearned to be.
Began the powder keg hunters, for some reason protects the best of old yharnam. (Tbh I just like him for his voice
And yeah, Sam is DLC.
then you'd know that not only are DeS's bosses the most basic and easy they are also the most easily abused
Aside from biorless impaler guy or whatever the fuck his name is and old king allant there is basically zero challenge, unless you somehow fucking count firelurker as hard because he only is if you are unprepared and he is so easily abusable its fucking laughable either way
well, as far as dark and demon's which are the only ones I played its actually a bit true, but in dark there are plenty of bosses where you'd be better off rolling and 2 handing your weapon, especially the DLC ones desu
also if you try and strafe agaisnt firelurker in des he gon git yo ass, I think anyway, I just stumbled onto him with thiefs ring and did him that way, I'm shameless I know but its from's fault so fuck yous
HOLY FUCK I FUCKING DID IT FINALLY
Jesus christ this boss is something else. Easily one of the best in the entire franchise.
And holy shit only 6% of people who bought the DLC beat him.
History is good, but for others its what they do in the game. Like Lautrc and Crow Lady. At least to me anyways. Alfred is the best out of the three I know. Djura is fine as well, you just need to get to him the right way.
DeS was my first and I was lucky enough to play it when it first released so it holds a a special place for me
DaS just improved on it
DaS2 was a step back in some areas, but a step forward in other. I like all the weapons, exploration, and secrets. I think it took the longest of all the games for everything to be discovered and I recently picked it up again and still was still finding new things.
BB had some great combat improvements and I enjoyed how most bosses had phases and visual changes as the fight went on.
like you dont shitpost other games, lol. You go for the same reason as anyone else, to shitpost
In fact, chances are that if you are unhappy when someone shitposts souls games you yourself have shitposted Dragon's Dogma or the witcher series, dont even try to deny it
Doesn't Lautrec just kill everyone in the hub?
There's a character who does that in BB too, in fact, if you attack him he turns in to a huge fucking beast.
>Iosefka's imposter who turns everyone in to aliums
>The prostitute who births a great one
>first person shooter
And here I thought I was shitfaced.
>COD and Madden are first person shooters that sell to normies. Soulsborne games are ARPGs that sell to people who are willing to put in over 60 hours in a game.
my normie friend has fucking 1800 hours in FIFA15
Because it's fucking amazing and the best out of the souls series.
If they're right handed, they will be more inclined to swing to their left (or forward), which is your right, meaning you roll left into the attack animation and let your iframes eat the damage.
Rolling right, in the same direction as the swing, is still somewhat viable but you moreover run the risk of your iframes finishing before the attack animation terminates, and you get clipped by the cleave of the weapon/fist..
I love the expression of the guy on the right. It's kind of like he's thinking "Wait what? I agree to this."
Meanwhile the guy on the left looks like a man who has nothing left to lose
Woah woah woah pause the tape!
You see that pile of ash that used to be a handsome hunter?
Yeah... that's me.
You're probably wondering how I got there, well it all started way back in Yharnam High School.
*Baba O'Riley starts playing*
It's the only PS4 exclusive that isn't garbage. It's good for sure but not great. It's just so much better than Knack and Killzone that it's quality gets blown out of proportion.
Dark Souls > Scholar of the First Sin > Demon's Souls > Bloodborne > Dark Souls II
how have I never seen this comic before?
You got it the wrong way round
BB has better combat, but the game is admittedly far easier
The story of BB is dragged down by the dream world not being nonsensical and the great ones not being developed enough. The entire world of Dark Souls 2 feels mostly natural and flows together well with the DLC actually adding to it
>how i beat him
Don't use lock on. Claw the controller. Run around Rom, sprinting when she uses the meteor attack. Kill the spiders when they get drawn out beyond Rom's "fuck you" zone. When they're all dead, rush in and DPS the fuck outta her with bolt paper and a fast weapon, dodging away when she casts (the telegraphs are super obvious).
The problem with Iron Keep is more conceptual than anything else: a huge lavaland hellscape somehow hovering above a windmill, which can't be seen from the bottom.
Also, it's only challenging because it just throws fucking elite mooks at you like they ain't shit.
>Blade of Mercy
>Holy Moonlight Sword
>Ludwig's Holy Blade
All of them singular archetypes with no copypasta, all with different playstyles and focuses, all like unique special weapons. All of them matter and are viable.
Dark Souls Weapons(the main archetypes that are actually viable and used and not meme or joke weapons or duplications with minor tidbits compared to others)
>Greatsword of Artorias/Abyss Greatsword
>Black Knight Halberd
>Silver Knight Spear
>Dark Silver Tracer
Thinking shit like Server, Catch Pole, Caestus, whips, warpick, Lucerne and all that copy pasta of greatswords and straight swords and katanas matters is a shit opinion.
Bloodborne has more movesets ontop of this, and then you have the transformed mode for each weapon.
This was against Dark Souls 1, retard.
Dark Souls 2 it's even more incindiary. There are literally more straight sword copy pastas in Dark Souls 2 than there are weapons in Bloodborne. All of which being moot when the Broadsword/Longsword are the best of them all.
he isnt that tough once you realize you fight his 2nd form like any other big boss monster
just unlock and watch him whail around that uncoooked tempura shrimp like a really angry chimp
>Dark Souls 3 will never have cool shit like Simon's Bowblade or Bloodletter, WHEEL or Ayylmao tentacles
Feels bad. Infact, Dark Souls 3's moonlight sword will factually suck compared to bloodbornes. There's no way it can compete with one that has full transform moveset.
Dks 1 > BB = DS >Dks 2
How'd I do?
I'd say that BB is about as good if not as good as Dks 1, but I prefer the pvp in Dks. Other than that, it's on the same level. Wish I could do a greater than or equal to sign for Dks 1 and BB.
I bought a PS4 for this game and it's evolved into my favorite console. Plus amazon frequently has Warehouse deals that put them well under 300 with games included. I say go for it. The Lovecraftian "twist" is fucking wonderful.
Clearly, you didn't even bother looking up the game.
Think before you post, newfag.
who is the asshurt?
souls fan or.. 'others'?
reminder that bloodboner will actually be released on PC by the end of this year, and ps4 has been hacked with full kernel access, and the first hacked game every ran on ps4 was pokemon, which is a nintendo game.........
Being shit and still having fun. When you lose to something a bunch of times and then finally beat it, it's about 1000x more satisfying than beating it in a cakewalk. This game is the perfect level of difficulty for me. Hard enough to be fun, but easy enough that I'm still steadily progressing. Shit, i probably died the most just getting thru the initial zone and past Cleric Beast
>reminder that bloodboner will actually be released on PC by the end of this year
>implying that DS2 was better than Demon's Souls
Niggah, you srs right now? Stale pasta
Bloodborne is factually better than all the games in everything aside from multiplayer matchmaking etc. Putting Scholar above fucking both Demon's and Bloodborne shows your cuckery too strong anon.
Dark Souls also falls apart after halfway. Bloodborne remains strong throughout.
Also, I just beat Rom, I've probably been to the hunters dream and explored it hundreds of times and only just found a path I'd never seen before that has the stump messengers and German chilling in his chair
i dont understand your intention with this goldface friend..
do you doubt the hacking community dedicated to the PS4?
do you think sony really has any exclusive games now?
really trying to understand what you mean by posting goldface.
is this some kind of default generic fan made response because you cant shitpost any better?
If Bloodborne HAD released on PC, there would've been endless praise about it all this year and Bitcher 3 would've been quietly forgotten.
They'll come round in 2022 when they can emulate it kinda okay ish on their current PC's at that point and experience what they were too poor to.
Are you trying to say that people who eat up yearly CoD/sports games don't play that shit more than 60 hours? That is pretty much all they play. You're going to sit there and tell me they spend less than 60 hours playing during a 365 day period? Get outta here.
>See BB for 20 bucks once
>Don't own a PS4 yet
>Want to buy BB
>Back to 40 for some reason
>Also the relationships between Yuria, Freke, and Urbain is awesome and something that the Souls games have yet to top.
Which one? I don't remember much from Urbain. I do remember Freke having respect for Yuria though.
I doubt it, it only sold around 2million copies on ps4 it probably would have sold around 500000 on pc.
Well w/e im one of those weirds pc mustard races guy that didnt like the souls saga but bought a ps4 for bb and loved it,
except for the shitty framerate
Ok lets talk abou reallity.
pc user = dark souls (shit port) 1 souls game
ps user = demon's sols, dark souls, bloodborne
Fun fact. where is miyazaki when pc fags are playing dks 2??? Making bloodborne :) love forn pc users hehehehe
You're fucking retarded. Playstation has had every single game in the series to compare it to and more people who have played them.
Bloodborne was never picked apart because it wasn't watered down. The only thing is sucks at is multiplayer which is likely PSN/PS4's fault, not From's.
>People replied to this
I've lost any and all hope for this board.
This board is full of PCucks, what did you expect?
So long as Bloodborne as good, it'll never end
