So is the 3DS worth buying yet? What are the best games for the system?
>>
>>323811974
i have a 3ds and it fucking sucks

the only good games are smash and monster hunter
>>
>>323811974
I don´t know. Mine is basically an Animal Crossing machine
>>
>>323813994
It's been so long since I've played Animal Crossing that I'm afraid of going back and everyone is mad at me.
>>
>>323814064
They aren´t that harsh, it happens to me too from time to time, but everytime I have my city back on track in no time. Only thing is you´ll probably have lost some villager, if it was your fav that sucks
>>
Is Picross 3D 2 any good and do I need to know any Nip for it?
>>
>>323814301
I feel like giving it another try. I loved all of my villager so I'm already hoping for the worst. Since my MH4U save just went poof and I'm not really feeling like finishing 100%ing Fantasy Life, this seems like the only choice.
>>
>>323811974
Nah. Not unless you really like MH. Everything else is ports or average Nintendo stuff.
I wish Atlus made more than just 2 SMT games on it.
>>
>>323815059
>Devil Survivor: Overclocked
>Devil Survivor: Break Record
>SMT IV
>SMT: Soul Hackers
And soon to be coming out SMT IV Final

There are actually 4 out right now, soon to be five.
>>
>>323815707
We still don't have a confirmation that Final is coming to the west.
>>
I mean, if you like nintendo games you'll like the system probably. But I'd make the argument that even those games aren't very good.
>>
>>323814301
>tfw lost best villager Pierce
>>
The 3DS is a handheld, so no it is not and it never will be worth buying.
>>
>>323815819
True, but there will be a fan patch that will come out within a year.
>>
>>323811974
Depends on your taste, if you're into weeb shit

>Monster Hunter games
>Rune Factory 4
>Etrian Odyssey games
>Pokemon games
>Animal Crossing
>Smash
>Zelda games
>SMT games
>Fire Emblem games
>All DS games

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Plus it just got cracked wide open like a week ago so homebrew and you can pirate all those games. $100~$250 for all those games isn't a bad deal.
>>
>>323811974
Only if you're a huge Nintendofag or MonsterHunterfag. It's crap for anything else.
>>
>>323814301
How many do you lose if you haven't played since January, 2014?
>>
comes down to your taste. its an okay machine to have laying around plus its cheap now and its library is pretty deep by now. i main pokmon but i have my fire emblem and such to also come back.
>>
>>323811974
Gen 7 is already confirmed to be on phones. So there's no reason to get a dedicated pokemon machine now.
>>
It's got terrible hardware and a very specific and miniscule library
I would advise against it unless you really like nintendo games
>>
>>323816730
mobile/phone market needs to die already
>>
>>323811974
Put some custom firmware are you have the best library of mobile games for free.

Good luck on that thought.
>>
>>323816889
Now that will never happen. Sorry
>>
>>323815707
Those are ports, dumbass.
>>
>>323816730

I can only hope this is true. If everything that normally would be 3DS only like those listed above, was instead released on Android (and iOS for the apple inclined, I suppose) that would be fucking great. If I am already carrying around a high end touch screen device, I don't need to buy a low end proprietary one too.

Futhermore, Android/iOS need to get away from the HURRDURR 1.99 and IN APP PURCHASE garbage crap. If Nintendo could sell COMPLETE games for $10-25 or so, they'd make a fortune on volume. DLC is okay if it is actual content expansion-style, but not the $2.99 for one fucking level garbage etc.

Nintendo would make a fortune if they devoted some time and energy to creating bluetooth controllers and made of quality "nintendium" for mobile phone/tablet play, to give proper control to games that need more than just a touch screen.
>>
>>323811974
I lost a 3DS and bought a New 3DS. The sucky thing is getting your account unlocked from an old machine if you've lost your console.
>>
>Great games
but
>Terrible hardware

So it depends on what you want. Don't mind the graphics(they could stay that way for another generation for all I care,) but the 3DS is just shit from a technical pov. Even my N3DS is having framedrops in almost every game. Heck, even Pokemon couldn't afford 3D because of the poor hardware, and it's STILL lagging often. Even the main menu is slow as fuck.

Don't even start me on the Eshop, or even worse: the virtual console. It's CURRENT YEAR and it's still bare bones. Where are the classics Nintendo? Stop sitting on your fucking eggs for all eternity.
>>
>>323818023
>great games
I don't think so. They sure as hell tried at the beginning, but quickly gave up after Kid Icarus and Revelations. Hell, most of it was ported, including Castlevania. Damn shame.
>>
>>323818023
If the eShop had gameboy advanced games it would be a whole different story.

>great games
Not compared to the DS.
Seriously, I even play my Vita more because even though there isn't as many games, I can play PS1 games with controls mapped to my preference. Way better than having only Game Boy/GBC and NES games only. I do, however, really love the Genesis 3D Classics.
>>
>>323818767
>tfw already own it on PS2 so don't care

Aw well. I'll probably get the new one on PS4 to support it coming back to consoles.
>>
>>323818767
>not playing the PS2 version
I'm more looking forward to VII since it's a full on remake.
>>
>>323818827
Yeah, even the DS had more action games and platformers. Tons of RPGs that are just 'there', to the point many latch onto average stuff like bravely default.

I also miss stuf like Ghost Trick.
>>
>>323819126
>>323819104
My PS2 died last year so i'm looking forward to it
>implying you didn't buy Ocarina of Time / Majora's Mask 3D

I miss Hyde.
Fuck those were great games
>>
>>323819370
I bought Ocarina because the 3DS had nothing else. I skipped Majoras Mask. Those are also 1 gen older than the DQ games, and are also easy to emulate right now.
>>
>>323819370
>OoT/MM 3D
I did, but they barely changed anything. They aren't even remakes. More like Reskins/Enhanced Ports. I would've loved to see a more fleshed out Kakariko Village.
I'm still buying DQ VIII just to support DQ in the west, though.

>Fire Emblem Fates is coming out soon I think
>Pokemon X and Y were good if you're into Pokemon
>Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were good remakes
>Same goes for OOT and Majora's Mask
>Animal Crossing New Leaf is one of the big must-owns on the system
>Monster Hunter 4 is great
>Monster Hunter 3 actually runs at a higher framerate on the 3DS than it did on the Wii U for some reason
>Pushmo and Crashmo were good
>Xenoblade Chronicles remake if you get a New 3DS
>A lot of the /v/ hipsters swear by Kid Icarus: Uprising but I hated the controls.

Overall 7/10. If any of those games really jump out at you then go get one. They have a pretty kickass Pokemon themed New 3DS coming out next month for the anniversary.
>>
>>323811974
smash n mario cart, maybe mh4u if you're into that.

waiting for paper jam

honestly dont play my n3ds unless i'm in a pinch
>>
>>323819231
Exactly. Handheld games kinda just fucked of this gen. Last gen was pretty much the golden age for that stuff.
>>
>>323819849
>A lot of the /v/ hipsters swear by Kid Icarus: Uprising but I hated the controls.
does that game work with a second analog? because yeah the controls are very cramping
>>
>>323819774
Yeah, I feel like the 3DS rides the sequels but doesnt carry the quality. AA5 had amazing animation, otherwise was just underhelming. No Megaman zero games, battle network....
>>
>>323819968
Nothing, its for left handed people
>>
>>323819968
I'm not sure, I didn't have a circle pad pro when I still owned the game.
>>
>>323820008
>3DS rides the sequels but doesnt carry the quality
This is a pretty good way of describing the 3DS as a whole.
>>
>>323816406
Not them, but if recall correctly you lose one. If you prevent a villager from moving out and stop playing on that day, none will move out (although as soon as you get back it'll initiate a villager to begin trying to move).

Kid Icarus Uprising.

Zurees are cute too. '3'
>>
>>323811974
monster hunter
>>
>>323820102
>>323820146
thats a shame. i tried with circle pad pro but didn't have batteries or enabled it until mh3u.

got a n3ds with the shit analog nub that you cant change sensitivity settings to

i mean it would be a fun game if you had a second analog

fuck sad though it doesn't work
>>
Monster hunter and...
um...
>>
>>323820556
I really didn't like monster hunter :/>>323820556
>>
It has Monster Hunter and um, Monster Hunter.
>>
Bought a N3ds and it's just a monster hunter box. Just hit 300 hours, though I did mostly played with my gf and that definitely helped to make it even more fun. MH4U should only be played on N3ds, by the way.
I have a couple of other games but none of them has grabbed me like MH.
>>
>>323822216
It's such a boring game. No story or character to it. Just grinding.
>>
Hmm. What is it about MH that appeals to it's players? Not saying it's a bad game, just curious which aspects. I have MH3U and I couldn't get past the odd camera controls.
>>
>>323822937
This

I listened to /v/ and bought MH3 over MH4 when I purchased my n3DS to save some dosh and holy shit that game is fucking bad.
>>
>>323814979

Yes.
No.
