Is TW3 combat balanced around using the free shield spell? There doesn't seem to be a disadvantage to using it but I don't like it. But if I don't, group encounters are extremely tedious. Does it stop being used in the late game?

Dark messiah of kicking and magic was surprisingly fun, it felt kind of empty at some points. After using cheats to spawn weapons in I realised there is a huge amount of incomplete content you can spawn in.

Witcher 3 DOES come close though, they just need to work on their enemy placement and level progression a bit and Witcher 4 should surpass Gothic 2, provided they dont turn to shit by then
