So I just replayed No Russian mission from MW2. I always keep a spare copy of the game (luckely it doesnt need an install and it remembers the savegame and its only like 11gb) but it made me think... has there ever been a more gruesome part in any videogame that was more edgy?
I mean its a fucking miracle how this game wasn't banned in lots of countries.
I mean, Hatred tried to be edgy but they fucked up by making the game some sort of red alert style, but was there any normal 1st or 3rd person shooter that ever came close to this mission from MW2?
The entire style of this mission is done perfectly. Now i'm not a big COD fan but my god their singleplayer campaigns are always A+
>People dragging their dead friends and relatives but getting shot anyway
>Police with a pistol trying to stop 5 full operator dudes with machine guns
>Suitcases everywhere with clothing laying around
>That flipping board with departures and arrivals that goes to Cancelled
Seriously the only thing that could make this mission even more edgy was if you had children running around screaming mommy daddy
No Russian is only as edgy as you make it retard. No one is forcing you to shoot the civilians. The funny thing is morons praise trash like Spec Ops for it's "message" but they forget that in No Russian you literally DO NOT have to kill a single civilian.
i would suggest to just play it yourself, its like the 4th mission in the cod mw2 campaign, you could get to the point pretty easily
but if you are too lazy just watch it on youtube but it would kinda ruin it, best to just play it yourself, it doesnt take long
Nice reading comprehension. Spec Ops is edgy because it forces you to kill civilians in order to progress. MW2 isn't edgy because you're actually being tricked into killing civilians.
not gonna lie, that part was p cool
mw2 is still total trash though
mw2 is probably the greatest indicator of whether a faggot is neo /v/ or not. old /v/ unanimously despised this trash, whereas neo /v/ loves it since they were all about 12 when it came out and thought it was the greatest video game ever made. fucking faggots.
>inb4 lies about what old /v/ thought about this trash
you are actually forced to shoot back at the cops who shoot at you otherwise you die and cant progress
same goes for GTA
also we dont know what those enemies are for person. They might just are some honest to god folks trying to do their army duty in order to provide for their family. Nobody is ordering you to shoot those people am i rite
then download it, its only like 10gb and it takes maybe 30mins of gameplay to reach the mission
or watch it on youtube but it really ruins it if you ask me, you kinda need to be in it and experience it yourself in order to be 'shocked'
up to you
Just because you can, doesn't mean you have to.
>There's still no way to stop it, at best you're forced to sit back and watch it.
Which still means that MW2 did Spec Ops' "message" better than Spec Ops did.
Would be icing on the cake if they put "gun free zone" signs everywhere.
That's exactly what I'm trying to say lmao.
MW2 is saying "Look at how horrible this is!"
Spec Ops is saying "Wow you actually did it? what an absolute madman!"
Work on your reading comprehension
>hurr durr killing is edgy
>james bond is edgy
>movies with guns is edgy
Go back to my first reply. >>323776484 You don't have to kill a single civilian to complete the level. The game offers you the chance to kill civilians but it's made pretty fucking clear that it doesn't condone it.
Learn to appreciate subtext.
I absolutely hated "No russian"
Not because of any political means, but because it was the most boring fucking level I've ever experienced in a CoD game.
They force you to walk at a snails pace for 10 minutes as the russians gun down civilians that do absolutely nothing.
The "message" wasnt even impactful.
you can chose to kill the civilians n shit in an airport. Also it comes with a warning screen because of sensitive faggots.
It destroyed the whole thing for me, also the AI is so shit in that level, its like dynasty warriors but more shit.
They had a great opportunity to show torture or some awesome gore, but no. It has to sell and appeal to people.
i must have been what 17 when this game came out?
> mfw i never noticed until now you played as a terrorist who guns down hundreds of innocent people at an airport
Signs were invented to be a universal language. They are technically banned across the country so you're right they probably won't have it posted at their airports but for maximum booty blasting they should have.
This isn't shocking/edgy at all. It's (Generic US enemy) murder Americans 101, where burgers proceed to take revenge on (generic US enemy), like in any other propagated american movie/game
OK game, but they were already starting to take the dudebro approach. The franchise died after COD2.
why would they be banned?
>tfw that slow as fuck gamespeed
>tfw when our teammates are all faster so you get sloppy seconds on killing all those people
>tfw I just wanna play this mission alone
...you haven't played the game, have you anon
He isnt that far from the truth though.
It's comically evil russians doing comically evil things to spark conflict against america.
I honestly forget where shepard comes into the picture
>comparing spec ops with mw
in spec ops, the main character did thing in the heat of the moment. Fuck up everything by himself and cant stand the responsibility. just like how players will not listen and military shooting games must have someone like makarov to keep their narrative going.
in mw2. some anti murican slav fake a terrorist attack to start ww3 (biggest plot hole ever). you are a good guy who infiltrate it. You are killed at the end anyway. nobody react to your choices. civilians are killed and the "game" continue in one part regardless. It is a tasteless ride to cement how evil slavs are and aim at shock value. It explore no themes or contribute anything to the plot.
It's like a cutscene of bad guys killing innocent civilians. Many games have those. The only difference is that you have a choice to participate. And many games allow you to kill innocent civilians.
Never played any cowadoody in MP but I still play the trilogy in SP once every couple of years to experience the fun action. It's more entertaining for me than, say, Bruckheimer movies
