Yeah guys 3s is so good that nobody played it and it also failed commercially, fuck you pieces of shit lying hipsters.
Whyd does stages in 4&5 suck ass so much? Where is arenas with rain or snow?
SF3 had on of the best stages.
But it did. Even Akiman has mentioned that it didn't turn a profit. Fucking Darkstalkers, the game that everyone likes to deride as dead and unpopular, was more successful commercially than SF3 was.
>its not 3s fault that americans were tasteless plebs
Don't you ever in your life disrespect America again. I will literally come to your house, fuck your mother in the ass with our flag and force your father to watch while he sings the national anthem
Is 3s the Majora Mask of the Street Fighter franchise?
People that never play it and hipsters cling to it and keep claiming its the greatest game to ever exist, despite being weaker to other titles in the series.
/v/ is filled with people who are unable to make their own opinions and just blindly repeat what others say all the time.
3s had atrocious balance and inferior gameplay compared to ST and SF4.
Well Majora's Mask was a bad game not because of it's gameplay but because of its atmosphere and story and dialogue. Majora's Mask is only good if you're like 6 years old and skip all text cause you're lazy or barely understand words.
3S was poorly balanced, yes - but parrying is what it relied on for a greater sense of balance. Mastering parrying was a skill with very tight input times.
I'd take 3S's poor balance over SF4 or SF5's butt-fucking-retarded restrictions on combos which are basically NO-FUN-ALLOWED simulators and if you don't play a certain way then fuck you.
It's the Zelda syndrome where as soon as a sequel is about to be released suddenly the previous iteration is the greatest thing.
We even had people defending the fucking Star Wars prequels.
balance is absolutely fucked
that's the main gripe I have with it. Chun, Yun and Ken have so many options then you look at Twelve or Sean and it's just laughable they're even in the same game
>Majora's Mask was a bad game not because of it's gameplay but because of its atmosphere and story and dialogue. Majora's Mask is only good if you're like 6 years old and skip all text cause you're lazy or barely understand words.
Also if you're deaf. If you're a deaf 6 year old that can barely read then Majora's Mask won't be bad. The music is so sad and serious all-the-time that it takes all enjoyment out of the experience.
This is part where you explain why we should think that you're correct
But I have a suspicion that you don't even play street fighter so I'll go ahead and say shut the fuck up faggot instead
>mfw playing 3s in anticipation of sf5
I know they're completely different but I really don't like sf4
>09'ers strikes once again.
Anyway, who watched Cooperation Cup? That shit was hype as fuck.
Here some footage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSh14q-YJh4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQBplUcG7Wo
Those also apply to focus.
Parries not only invalidate entire playstyles but air parries also COMPLETELY change the risk reward of jumps, which is anti-Street Fighter.
Also see me in 3S Fightcade right now if you're gonna talk shit.
I want to like it but I have no idea how to go about getting comfortable/learning to like V-ism combos. I also really suck at comboing into super for that series.
Meme hating on 3rd strike is just people who tried it thinking maybe this is the fighting game they don't get humiliated in and then proceed to get double perfected
if you don't like 3rd strike then fuck you
twelve isn't bad. he requires his own playstyle though, as opposed to the rest of the characters being normal and having standard combos, twelve is basically just a really fast SF2 dhalsim with the ability to fly instead of teleport. His best super is X.C.O.P.Y cause he just transforms into the opponent character but does like twice as much damage as that character and it's the longest Timed-meter super in the whole game.
Not using X.C.O.P.Y is just playing to the weirdness of twelve with pokes that go nowhere and flying around a lot. Also he can turn invisible which is like whatever cause even the twelve player can't see where he is when he's invisible.
with parries you need a hard read on someone instead of being able to hold it out for 50 or so frames and back dash cancel it. Besides the bad part of focus is the fadc stuff, not how it affects neutral.
I'd play you in 3s as well but i just started playing makoto the other day, and am a pretty casual 3s player. I have online edition though and cant be assed to set up fightcade right now
I'm saying that from a spectator perspective, it's incredibly boring to see every single tournament since the game came out inevitably come down to Chun, Yun and Ken.
I don't like USF4 as much as 3S but at least there was some semblance of diversity in character selection in most tournaments.
>Parries not only invalidate entire playstyles but air parries also COMPLETELY change the risk reward of jumps, which is anti-Street Fighter.
Airblocking in Alpha series and air parrying in 3s are what made the games shit for me
jumping NEEDS to be a risk
>I'd play you in 3S but I'm a casual 3S player and just started playing Makoto and can't be bothered to set up Fightcade
Lmao, I don't even play 3S, ST is my game. Nice dodge anyway.
Dunno why you call someone out on not playing street fighter then admitting to not playing the game yourself.
Fightcade uses the same emulator as GGPO, like same exact version of FBA, which is a few versions behind the standalone version of FBA and has weird bugs that drop inputs.
the best way to play 3S online is still unfortunately MAME.
>everyone shitting on 3s and how its abad game
>everyone shitting on 4 and how its a bad game
>everyone shitting on v and how its a bad game
>agreement its the best sf to date
i love this site
What's the deal with super inputs on fightcade
I need to hit the double quarter circle at the speed of fucking light for it register
is it supposed to be that fast? I'm used to online edition
Got rid of my PS3 a while back senpai
Like I said, I don't actually play 3S but I have the ROM. I don't really like the game but I've been having trouble connecting to people in just about any other game for some reason, so 3S will have to do whether I like it or not.
Whats your fightcade
>I-it did fail c-commercially!!!
Except it's in the top 5% most-common arcade games. It's in the 30% most-requested arcade games. The only "failure" evidences I see are bullshit forum posts saying "it's too hard to parry, so the game failed!" and "too many new characters! the game is a failure!".
I dropped SF4 months back and have no desire to reinstall it this close to V
Don't play Skullgirls either. Gave it a go but MikeZ can't leave the game well enough alone for 5 minutes.
I play ST/A3/VSav/KoF XIII
>MikeZ can't leave the game well enough alone for 5 minutes.
its actually at its final balance now and trust me those updates were needed. Game was pretty awful for a long time
It did. Why do you think Street Fighter went on such a long hiatus? Read up on interviews with Ono. He had to really fight for SF4 being made. No one at Capcom thought another Street Fighter would succeed because of how abysmal the SF3 series sold.
He had to fight for it because street fighter was an outdated, piece of shit japanese game. Capcom needed an actual iconic true game hero like megaman at its helm in 2008, not some stupid outdated buttonmasher
Why don't you think for yourself for a change
Sf3's "failure" was the result of a completely different set of variables and forces around its release. An example is that home consoles at that time were beginning to be able to replicate the power of arcade machines
Sf3's perceived failure has nothing to do with the fact that it's one of the most fun fighting games ever made
It has nothing to do with the timeframe it covers, dipshit, it has to do with the fact that you can convert off any parry under most conditions whereas focus requires a counterhit or at least level 2, and focuses can be armor broken. 3s unavoidably punishes you for attempting offense in any way, and any random poke you throw out can be parried and punished for 20% damage. Anti airs are also useless because you can parry in the air, a completely asinine design decision, and further negating having to position yourself because everyone can jump in for free, all the time. Third strike has two positions: close enough to do jabs and shorts and have someone in the high/low/throw vortex, and far away enough to spam whiff crMP to gain meter.
People who haven't played fighting games are still going to get absolutely destroyed in sf5 for a couple thousand matches before they realize how to play but it's more likely they'll quit long before that
I didn't say anything about focus, you're the one claiming parries turn the game into jabbing and building meter which is not something anybody who actually has a clue about 3s would say
so go ahead and try another deflection
k classical footsies are pokes man, and most pokes in 3S at 3-4 frames, which isn't enough time to input the parry on reaction. The problem with parrying in 3s is that you can benefit from the advantage of successfully parrying by complete accident of having pressed forward or down (say like pressing down during a hadouken or shoryuken input) and if you input the special slow enough you can get parry defense advantage by complete coincidence through inputting your special, or even walking forward for the first 5 frames you get defense - just by walking forward.
But that's balanced against the fact that if you miss your input window for parrying, you don't get to block and you take full damage cause blocking is the opposite direction.
Daily reminder 3s is only remembered cause of Daigo comeback and not much else.
SF4 has way too many memorable moments to list.
Reminder 3s was literally just Chun/Yun/Ken:The Game
While SF4 had it's fair share of broken characters they were fixed with each revision with ultra balancing the game where everyone was viable. So much so that Yun, a character who's been receiving nerfs since AE2014, won the most recent SF4 tournament.
how long before you 09ers give up after I rape you in V? I play you faggots in IV right now and whoop your asses.
Sorry Edberd but Fightcade has been a piece of shit lately even though my setup is fine
I need to try and solve what's causing the problem because there's no rhyme or reason as to who I can or cannot connect to.
>While SF4 had it's fair share of broken characters they were fixed with each revision with ultra balancing the game where everyone was viable
>they were fixed with each revision with ultra balancing the game where everyone was viable
> everyone was viable
o i am dancin
The best thing that came outta 3S
It'd be awesome if Capcom played the 4rd Strike fan mod and turned urien into his 4S moveset under v-trigger activation, like being able to do double shoulder-bashes or altering his likely super of chariot rush to his 4S version where he can switch between hops and shoulder bashes on each hit depending on which button is being pressed before the next hit comes out.
Fun fact: Makoto was actually planned at first to be Ryu's little sister.
I fucking hate the neck thing so god damn much.
I want urien to just grab it and choke the ever fucking shit out of here while he shoves his dick into her throat as she gasps for air.
She did everywhere else though.
Not much of an improvement since Evil Ryu (the top character in the game) and Yun (a character from 3s you bitched about in case you forgot) being played by a GG player were the grand finals.
You don't need to parry on reaction. Focuses don't generally happen on reaction either. The game is full of places to OS parry, safely, and get free parries into super punish combos. You're also vulnerable for a fraction of the time when doing a parry compared to a focus attack. It's not uncommon to see pro players crouch as they approach someone, praying for the poke to come so they can parry.
The neck thing is hot at fuck you fag.
Yeah but who picked up the pieces after Second Impact's flop?
>SF4 is considered the worst SF game in the majority of the community
It's not. It's just not as good as it could be but it's still really damn good.
Games considered worse than SF4 series - Alpha series, EX series, Majority of 2 series, 1.
Arguable - 3 series.
GG sprites themselves are pretty nice, but their animations have never been super great, but given how they have deliberately kept the jank in the move to 3D, it seems to be a design choice.
[Muffled Miguel Rossington screaming in the distance]
>tfw actually played sf3 since new generation and still play third strike today, being my favorite fighting game, with cvs2 second
>neofag niggers just bandwagoning it when they played it 3 times tops
Holy fucking shit dude have you even played ST?
>hugo considered low tier for a decade
>a guy picks it up, wrecks everyone in japan scene, shows them what hugo can do
>now almost high tier
And same shit applies to every fighting game, look at current ultra Abel/Elena/e. ryu and then at e honda or some shit, dude is a fucking joke
>tfw Infiltration still blew him up with his Juri
Gotta admit just watching that set was exhausting.
He's not but sure. I like throwing knives and playing pool with people's kneecaps.
I'm shit at Rolento and play Blanka and E.Honda.
