>made $90,000 last year

By no means the top 20 of e-faggot salaries but this is shitloads more than I was making with my fucking UNIVERSITY DEGREE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE. I literally knew it would be this easy, tried it, yeah 2014 I had basically 5 viewers max, but 2015, make one good video on reddit with a throwaway and boom. Instant success. AMA about the easiest career in the world, which is essentially "play video games".
>>
Tried this, but I don't want to have to read and respond to twitch chat... I just want to play games without stressing if I'm being entertaining enough or if the section of the game is boring etc. :(

that think you're an "entertainer" or a "performer" are just that; faggots. You aren't an entertainer. You're a babysitter. These losers have nothing to do all day so you look after them.
>>323679242
Nice. What game did you pick?

yeah I've already made over one million, obviously not going to post my stream but I have no idea why people are donating to me

Nah, plus I also can't perform like a monkey to entertain the literal lowest scum I can think of, so I couldn't do it anyway.

>entertainers makes more than someone with a degree

I am not suprised at all.
>>

I'm just saying people play it up to be some kind of niche career that only wallflowers/snowflakes can do. Cedric is an entertainer. Not a memeing screaming league streamer.
>>
>>323679763

*tips fedora

Not really anon, but I play games for my relaxation and enjoyment, having to perform, to not be able to curse as I wish, scratch my scrotum as I wish, call things jewish as I wish, and stop every time I feel like it to browse this shithole would be ruining that.

Actually reaching the point where it replaces my job would also force me to do it even when I don't want to.

people still believe this ancient meme?

Someone out in the world can sit on their ass doing nothing and still make more money than you ever can in your life.

yes, entertainers are making millions from singing and dancing and acting
people crave entertainment. deal with it i guess.
>>
>>323679978
I don't watch the people that scream, they meme some, but don't really scream. That exception would be with Jerma who sometimes gets a little silly, but he is entertaining to me.

Either way, if you are providing entertainment to someone you are an entertainer.

They just throw money at you nonstop. For the first few months when it really started to pick up, I couldn't believe it. It was going to end soon enough, I thought. It only got worse. One month I made 10,000 dollars off streaming. That's it. Ten thousand dollars just from fucking sitting there playing shitty video games. I'm not even good at them. >>323683008
It can be as simple as being introverted and being bad at keeping in contact.

I had loads of friends a few years ago, but I am incredibly bad at staying in contact with people, so now my group of friends is really small.

Sure, I still know a lot of people, and they wouldn't mind meeting me again, but if I were to just hit up some random friend I haven't talked to in years they would react poorly and wonder why this assburger is contacting them now.

>>
>>323684075
Ofcourse they would wonder but if they're friends they wouldn't mind either. That's what friends are for.

>But then again, if some old friend started talking to me again I wouldn't mind, so maybe it's just in my head.

They probably think the same unless THEY are spergs.
>>
i'm working on convincing my gf to stream because there's no way some fat old depressed dude like me could get people to donate. i figured i could just play the games off cam while she watches netflix and fakes it, then wiggle her ass or something whenever people give money

i have no idea where to start though. i honestly dont even understand the appeal of watching streamers. what games would be good to stream?

i've also thought about streaming a bunch of FFs myself back to back and talking about the history of the series and a lot of the eastern philosophy and stuff behind it(at least the early ones) since i know entirely too much about it, but from what i do know it seems that people that watch streams are more into memers or tits.
>>
>>323683519

Again - I'm the samea, I have 4 close friends, and basically noone else, a ton of colleagues at work who I always rejected and avoided hanging out with, a few guys I met while studying but haven't kept contact with.
If I didn't have my close friends from HS - I'd have nobody.

I could see myself MAYBE watching streams in that case (much more likely though that I'd just excessively play some MMO and have e-friends) but DONATING?
Why?
How will that even help me delude myself into thinking they are my friends?
If I got some recognition from them due to chatting them up in stream - "cool maybe he likes me" or whatever delusion
But if I'm 100% aware that I PAID him to do it?

I don't get it.
I feel less alone from finding an anon here who likes the same sick porn as I do, than I would from paying a guy (whos engaged with thousands of others at the same time and is basically his job) to reply to me in a friendly manner.
>>
>>323683872

twitch chat and donation/sub culture makes me sick

I remember when people would stream on xfire for the fun of it and because it was such a cool idea

it's now actually a challenge to find channels on twitch that don't have a donate link
>>
>>323683872

If someone who I haven't kept contact with for years hit me up on say, facebook, my first thought would be that "he wants something from me" and no, it would not be friendship that I'm thinking of.
>>
>>323684342
The donation link isn't a problem to me. I have absolutely zero problems with those who get donations and report them financially.

I have huge problems with faggots with giant donation messages, they have their set donation 'thank you note' written out, they ask chat to spam some emote, etcetc. It's everything else surrounding the donation that makes it so fucking disgusting. Same with subs.
>>
>>323684427

The bubble when people realize giving money to some random faggots on the Internet for playing video games is retarded. E-celebs are fads and only the top of the top will make it out while everyone else falls if they are not prepared. Remember that goof Tom Green and all his copycats? E-celebs are this generations that.
>>
>>323685290
Tom Green was actually funny though.
>>
>>323685290

But how will they realize it?
It is already retarded, it is already the lowest quality it can get - if you don't realize it now, what would make it happen later?

Sure streames will rise and fall - but these people will just change to someone else and keep donating.
Also its not like horny fucks will ever get tired of seeing a big titted girl engaged in their autistic hobby.

the only thing I can imagine crashing this is something even more stupid and autistic

E-celebs aren't really fads. By their very title they cannot be so until entire societies collapse financially and celebs don't exist.

This isn't to say twitch streamers or youtubers will stay static forever - we're already seeing the top of the top move onto other ventures (music, movies, merchandise, investing in XYZ, etc), but otherwise people will still make a little money. Streaming games might get more lewd in desperation though.
>>
>>323684231
The FF idea might be cool. I watch a MGS channel that goes through the games and sometimes does story analysis and theories while playing.

Might be cool to do something like that or make YouTube videos about it to get your name/content out too.

This always bothers me, if you are paying for lewd stuff on a vidya stream like a girl shaking her tits - why not just be a man and head over to chaturbate where you can pay directly for a qt girl to shove a dildo in her ass?

You get all the benefits of a twitch stream slut AND
>don't need to watch them be bad at a game
>gets very lewd
>you can chat them up about their vidya habits just the same

See there I have much less of a problem with donating, since you always get something concrete in return, I even did it a few times
for some cute guy's private shows
>>
>>323685685
They are fads. They are only there as long as they are relevant. And I will give you an example.

Whiteboy7thstreet guy. 2 million subs and currently struggles to get 30K views. Raywilliamjohnson struggles to get 130K with over 10 millions subs. He used to average a million views.
xJaws. Made well over 6 figures, hung out with celebs, cars, whores, etc. Dude has a small apartment and hooked on drugs now.

And I would name more if I was a faggots so submerged in eceleb culture. These guys that don't realize money and fame is based on relevancy are fucked. Oh but loyal fans? LOL. They are kids. Kids who grow up and move on.
>>
>>323686224

I think you don't get the point.
Yes the people in the scene will get replaced - but the scene itself is not a fad.
>>
>>323685685
Not that anon, but he's right. E-celebs aren't going to last forever because the people who support them are going to change, get older, find new interests.

Let's take Pewdiepie for example. He has become famous (and rich as fuck) because he focused on 15 years old casuals, the worst kind of fanbase that gives the best money.

Years have passed since his debut and he had to change his ways, his videos, his acting: those 15 years old are 19 now and a big majority of them has moved on. He constantly has to invent new ways to either lure new kids in (hard, because he is not a novelty anymore) or keep his old fans (still hard, because he acts too retarted).

That's also why he moved to movies and programs and even cartoons as you said. It's not going to last forever, he and a few others will have a freaking full bank account if they have been wise, but the small youtubers and streamers will fall and be forgotten.
>>
>>323686327
>but the scene itself is not a fad
Streaming is not a fad? It will get dropped as fast as it got popular. There are a LOT of kids on twitch, once the next popular thing rolls by they will jump ship to that.
>>
>>323686327
Ahh. Okay. That is true.
>>
Are there any streamers marketing themselves to the weeb audience?

What if I got a few of my weeb friends with lots of autistic opinions and we all had fun playing weeb games and being weeb as fuck? The guys I know from my uni's anime club are always spending on something. Is this a market even worth looking into?

I honestly don't mind the act of donating, but I'm exceptionally bothered by all the retarded commotion surrounding donations, all the shit fakery "omggg thank u sooooo maaaaachh" and people trying to be funny etc. Just donate and be. That's it.

>>323686516
>people who support them are going to change, get older, find new interests.
Same could have been said about the hollywood generation. Yet new markets were created to appeal to younger generations. Cartoons, teen dramas, etc.

This is reality - e-celebs are here to stay. I repeat, this does not mean they will be STATIC. Pewdie (or whomever is at the top n ow) may not be wealthy in 20 years - but you can bet your entire land that other e-celebs will exist and continue to do so. Whatever other platforms come up (Get ready to see some e-celebs in your Virtual Realities, they'll help cockblock you from your waifus :333), they'll be there.

>>323686327
This.
>>
>>323685290

If anything, the bubble will burst when more and more people realize about this fad and there will be way too many people streaming.

Streaming will become the next telemarketing with open offices full of bottom of the barrel -people streaming solely for subs and donations 8 hours a day.

Believe it or not, the LoL club here is actually much worse than the anime club.
>>
>>323686327
But it is. It only got popular when that pewdie started doing it. People were looking for something new and funny and everyone jumped in the bandwagon because MONEY, FAME AND HOT GF.

But now there are TONS of streamers, the whole web is saturated with them. Sooner or later, the appeal and charm will fade away and there will be a new lucky guy who will invent a way to make entertainment and everyone will follow his steps for a while. It's a cycle.

>>323686848
Movies changed the entire world, the very idea of media and entertainment. I don't see twitch streams and youtubers changing people's lives with their idiotic playthroughs of vidya. They don't affect the WHOLE society up to that point.
>>
>>323686967

Yes, they are two very big bottom feeder media types.

You do realize basically anything can be streamed right?
>>
Who do you talk to when you have no fucking viewers? I've been thinking about a channel as a hobby with a theme and shit but none of my friends play fucking video games any more.
>>
>>323687404

>it only got popular
>there will be a new lucky guy
>It's a cycle

So....its not a fad and its here to stay...

The point is that at best it will change and shift, but these retards will always want to sit at home watching their "friend" do things before camera.
Doesn't matter who, and what is he doing.
>>
How does this shit work with taxes? I mean it's technically donations but there are some people who rely on streaming/youtube as a primary source of income

Thats more of a ruskie accent though, very popular even in movies

Doesn't matter anyway, the only reason why I would want to stream is so I get better at speaking openly and restrain myself from getting mad at video games

Get your gf to stream instead, you will triple your income easily

My gf took home $120k last year. We both left our jobs and are going to milk as much money out of this ee can

It's some Dutch 'normie' unfortunately. I think a lot of people used to shit on him when he played WoW. Then he met some girl on his stream and he fucking moved from the one of the most comfy countries in the world to fucking Canada.

Ukranians and Russians sound almost nothing alike unless you're retarded, and I am seriously doubting you're from a 3rd world european country if you're comparing the two.

I don't see how it's any different than give money to a stripper. You can watch a stripper dance as much as you want with no tips, but you tip to keep her on your side and she might do something special for you.
Donations are pretty much tips for the entertainment in hopes that they'll stream more often.
>>
>>323689257
For some of them? Of course.
>>
>>323689475

Not really.
the stripper works on shifts, just like the streamer basically.
They do their shifts to get money.
You tip the stripper so she lets you fondle her and blows you maybe.
You donate to the streamer...so he does what he is already doing for his own benefit.

Its a complete joke.

But with billions of people on the planet its is possible to find enough low level scum that donates/sub money for no reason.

If people buy Apple or care about Kardashians then yeah even someone streaming Video Games can earn money in that same brainless way.

Can you make it so people aren't allowed to stream your game?
I'm working on a game right now that I plan on releasing for free, and I don't want people to make money off of it in the 1/1000000 chance that my game somehow gets exposure.
>>
>>323679515
>It isn't difficult at all, you just have to pretend to enjoy their company

I'm totally not shitting on you at all, I'm agreeing with you, and I applaud you for saying things like they are; but, isn't this the reality of all social interactions?

Just seems to me that the top-ranked teachers in school (based on review sites like ratemyprofessor), top-ranked businesses, places I've worked, the "stars" aren't necessarily even good looking people as much as they are people that act completely selfless and "completely about you."

I guess TL;DR: isn't the name of the game making people feel like you're one of the few people actually willing to listen to them?

It's too bad there isn't an archive of everyone who quickly rose to twitch fame in the past year or two, because I'd have to guess their early streams when they had little-to-no viewers, probably involved A.) playing popular games and B.) treating it like chat first, game second.

Conversely, it seems like the long-time losers don't interact with the chat much at all.
>>
>>323689794
When you really get down to the nitty gritty, there are many, many more people making much, much more money off of much, much more evil things than twitch.tv
>>
>>323689836

You relaize you literally just made the direct connection to what is basically begging.

You give money to the street performer because you know he is a pathetic enough soul that he has to perform on the street.

Applying that to people comfortably living in their apartment, doing their job from home which is literally playing games - I'd say its insulting to street performers.

>>
>>323684225
there's a streamer that started by spamming here who is now pretty well off(got to quit his real job etc) and any time he streams a rpg and even more specifically a jrpg he brings up how when they're reuploaded to youtube, they end up being the least watched videos on his channel. the streams themselves have a much lower turnout in viewers, and chat moves at a snails pace.
yet the videos where he plays memegames, obviously bad fangames or hacked versions of popular old games gets like 7 times the hits and live viewers.

so, if you really want to get into it to make a quick buck, avoid FF. shit that requires like 30-60 hours to get through drive viewers away like the plague.
they want shit that they can catch in it's entirety or at least watch sporadically and not feel like they might miss something.
so get ready for 2 hours of "ironic simulator" streaming per day if money is all you care about.

people will catch on about your gf by the way. she'd have to know whats going to happen and react accordingly. netflix ain't gonna work.
unless you stream and she's in the background reading chat and flashing tits or something.
basically stream, but get stream cucked?
>>

>>
>>323690050
You could always abuse copyright systems in Youtube or develop your own streaming/recording software detection tool and have the game black screen. In PS4 you can do that and the recording/streaming shows a generic PlayStation animation and the player gets notified that the screen cannot be captured.

Still, fuck your game, bitch nigga.

Dude is genuine as fuck and cares about his fans, despite all the hate he gets on 4chan because he used to tripfag the guy gets 250 viewers per stream.
>>
>>323692580
I'm mixed mexican and black. It's actually a tough spot I'm in, because I don't sound enough like any stereotype, I'm not good at accents, I haven't been around enough of either race all my life to pretend well enough, and I don't know how to market myself.

Also IRL is so much different than being in front of a camera, tips on that would help. I make friends really easily and keep up with them, but I rarely use social media to do so and I know I'll have to bite the bullet if I want to actually get anything going.

Basically what I'm saying is, how does a mixed race guy who sounds and acts white, and has not much knowledge of his heritages make it in streaming?
>>

>>323692245
>Feel like every niche and 'character' has been filled

I have an idea for a stream that isn't used at the moment. Even made a channel but to pussy to start and also need a webcam.

I want to take a shot at twitch streaming for laughs.

What PC parts are critical? I hear i7 cpu is worth the upgrade over the i5, but anything else?

I'm not rich enough to make a second dedicated streaming system, but I do have two monitors at least to put the chat on another one.

Current shit:
i5 4690k
GTX 970
8G Ram (do I need 16?)

At first I thought maybe I'd need to upgrade shit to run everything in max detail, but that probably isn't nearly as important as the personality marketing / chat interaction shit.

btw I'm gay and french and black so I should be a hit in a week.
>>
>>323693210
I was basically just making a joke, for the record.
Streamers 90% of the time feel like performing monkeys, so playing up racial stereotypes just seemed natural. I don't want anyone to really fucking do it. Unless they literally want to be a black minstrel of the modern age and don't care so long as they might make money.
I know if I was a 6/10 female I'd probably stream runescape in slutwear, too.

If wacky shit is out the window all you can do is stream, advertise yourself a little, try to meet other streamers and ask advice, and just stay consistent while hoping for the best. It won't be overnight success, but I think if you stick around long enough you'll get there.
Republish videos or highlights on YouTube, try some flavor of the month shit to get more people to come by for the first time. Interact with the viewers by talking, maybe have a giveaway once in awhile, some special coop or participation streams etc.
If you use forums or anything just link it there and ask for thoughts or tips. not on 4chan though, asshole.

It's a saturated market so if you don't have anything to stand out, the only way you'll get anywhere is just by brute forcing it. Social media would definitely help.
