>technician level
Every year that passes it becomes easier and easier to set up a computer and there are tons of guides just a google search away.

The most common problem I see people have with building computers.
>I put a lot of force but it is not going in
Either you're doing it wrong or you didn't put enough force. Double check, are you doing it right? Absolutely certain? If so you didn't put enough force.

Usually people have this issue with ram stick, the cpu latch or sometimes the cpu cooler (if you have that fucking annoying see-saw lever).

>It doesn't turn on
Just go down the list of parts on your computer and make sure everything is getting power and is connected to your motherboard if needs be. Do you have the 24-pin AND the 8-pin connected to your motherboard. I don't understand how people constantly forget this.

People forgetting to connect the sata cable on the hard-drive is another common one.

I don't understand why people don't just pirate the games. Saves you more money for future upgrades.

If the game goes on sale that has a good multiplayer, just buy it then. Besides, pirating might not be possible in 2 years time so pirate while you can!

To be honest, I'm starting to use it regularly now that I started playing console ports more often. I'd like to just run a dvi or hdmi cable to my big tv instead, but in order to do that I'd have to run it through a hallway, down the stairs, past the living room, past the kitchen and into the family room where my 4 year old plays all the time.

It's not for everyone, but it's very convenient if you happen to be someone like me.

I kind of want to get a good PC, but the buy in is way too steep for me at the moment.

Sure, the PC itself is not grotesquely expensive, but I'd have to buy a mouse, monitor, keyboard, desk and chair to go along with it. That really hikes up the price for me, especially if I want decent stuff.

>>323660562
yeah, I figure steam link will be kind of big among IT people with families, but I'm still surprised at how many talking about having a steam link. I would go the other way around and have a PC on my living room with multiple controllers where I play most games, and a laptop or something on my bedroom for casual chill, but I guess this wouldn't work with a family either since the pc on the living room would be useless for the rest of the family while you play on your room.

Well I guess when you use the internet as only a social network and not to research or learn anything even in super fast fun ways like on Youtube then you think this.

I'm pretty sure anyone without a learning disability could spend a couple weeks off and on just watching some channels that help noobs with pcs and know about what I know after building my first computer in 2000.

Oh and Protip: You should probably just play games on whatever platform they are on, instead of choosing a platform then after go looking for games and think you're stuck to sticking to one platform.

How do people like this even exist? I mean, if he doesn't understand shit about computers that's fine, but why would he go to fucking best buy, open his wallet, and expect them to set him up with the highest quality shit?

I know absolutely fuckall about fishing, but if I wanted to get set up with high quality fishing gear I wouldn't go to fucking walmart and buy everything they've got on the shelf, I'd go to a fucking proper fishing store and cross reference their recommendations with another fishing store so that I'm not getting completely fucked.

Technician level of understanding? What's so hard about reformatting hard drives and slapping in new parts? A fucking retard could do that. I learned most of my knowledge by getting around my dad's child safety software. An interesting tale that I shall tell.

>Installs a program called "cyber sentinel"
>Program takes a screenshot and closes down the program if a bad word shows up
>This was the bane of my existence because every website on the internet had some kind of bad word except for Christian bullshit
>After a month of trying to get around it, turns out you can close the program with task manager
>Success!
>Dad gets wind of this so he installs one you can't close with task manager
>Backed up everyone's information/pictures/work/whatever to a DVD disk (This was before thumb drives) and reformatted the hard drive
>Dad finds out and he can't control his rage, so he just takes the Windows XP disk away
>I'm a little more clever than that, so I download a pirated copy and use the CD key (was on the back of the machine)
>He's complete molten with pure unadulterated hate for my cunning abilities
>This time he gets clever
>Dad puts a password on boot up through the BIOS
>This puzzled me for quite some time
>Quick google search said just remove the CMOS battery and BAM! No more password
>He finally gives up

And that is how I learned a lot about computers.

>Console games are overpriced bullshit.
Buy one used two years in when the prices drop to more reasonable levels and there are more titles available for them.

>PC has based sales
Consoles have sales too, along with buying used games or on sale games physically, along with the bonus mostly shitty indie games given to you as a part of your subscription.

>better controls
Completely subjective, I can comfortably play with a controller better than I can play with M+KB because I'm more used to it, and no, I do not use shitter assist. And using M+KB in games like Street Fighter, Rocket League, or other games that require precise directional input (fuck that spinny attack in MGR that needed me to press WASD at the speed of light)

>and allows you to configure settings and graphics.
Most consoles games see; games I play have settings for effects like Bloom and DoF. I can also customize my controls, whether fully by default (Warframe is a good example of perfect controller controls) or by rebinding (PS4 can do it on-system, XB1 has a Windows 10 thing) and changing other graphics is moot when they design it to be optimized for x resolution, Y FPS, Z settings, etc. although modding my Skyrim for 4k textures and wiggly boobies was cool, even if I didn't play much after.

Consoles also allocate resources to in-line constant 720p30 recording, so developers can optimize around that, which allows for in-line recording and sharing. I know you can do that with 3rd party apps on PC, but I like having a button dedicated to sharing videos.

Pic related is a picture from my console. Warframe runs well till you join a Sortie with a Vortex-spamming Vauban, hon hon hon I am the crowd control and runs on (seemingly) max settings, minus AA. While Warframe is hardly demanding, consoles are not as bad as people think graphics-wise.

Get it out of your System.
It doesn't matter what platform someone plays on.
What matters, are the games. You don't buy a game for your precious console but a console for your games.
And even then, even an older pc still has a huge and good library.
So do the Consoles (Except maybe the Sega Dreamcast
The PC is objectively better, because All-Purpose-Machine.

>without a techician's level of understanding a high end pc will become unusable within 6 months
Worse. But also not.
Even old as shit PCs are usable. But it's worse than that, not knowing what's going on with tech in practice means the highest end PC can become instantly unusable and under-perform against decade old technology.

PC master race of course implies you're at least capable of technician level of understanding even if you don't yet have it. Not being capable of that, implies you aren't PC master race, you're just a console babby with a PC.

One of the hatches keeping a RAM stick in place was tight as fuck. I used some force and it opened, but my hand also apparently scratched something in the mobo while doing that and the PC didn't start anymore even if I put the old RAM stick back. I didn't see any visible damage though. And yes, the mobo itself was still tightly in its place.

English isn't my first language so sorry if the text above is a bit clumsily written.

What? You can't change the graphic details, draw distane, resolution, and many other effects that effect performance. The advantage is that you get to control to what you want, you can choose between details>resolution>fps.

Developer don't universally optimize games, they are just getting to run on your consoles disregard your display choose . Let's say you buy a 1080p tv, but buy watch dogs/battlefront. Ubisoft/EA didn't take in consideration that you want to play 1080p resolution tv, you are left with a non native tv.

This isn't even possible. It won't fit into a slot it isn't designed for.
