Overrated or overused? Because the ones you listed were overused.

Overrated would probably be Sephiroth or Handsome Jack. Sephiroth was a neat villain, but with poor translation his motivations were very unclear at times. And then you've got an eldritch alien thing which serves as a much more terrifying force. As for Handsome Jack I will never understand why people obsessed over him for a time. He had the occasional good line, but most of the time he just rants about how your so trash and how awesome he is. That can be done well, but when a villain is in constant communication they feel a lot less imposing and, as a player, you have to almost wonder why they're spending so much time talking to you rather than killing you. Besides that he suffers from Gearbox's trashy lolsorandumb humor.

As for overused definitely corruption, by far. So many games pose the villain as this nebulous force that can seemingly take over tons of shit but never has any set rules. It's a cheap way to make something seem imposing, but not write or give the player much reason to fear it. Look at WoW for one of the worst uses.

Zombies aren't shit and are overrated as fuck really but don't you even begin to act like Lich's are properly represented in vidya. Lich power levels are through the roof and they have thousands of years of knowledge and experience in magic under their belt. They should be near unkillable literal God-like status. I cant really think of a game that properly depicts how powerful a Lich should really be. they're pushovers in pretty much every work they appear in.

Vampires are also a close second but they vary greatly between different franchises from being just slightly stronger than human level like WoD vampires, to a lot stronger than average but not even close to the top of the food chain like in elder scrolls, then borderline unkillable just below demon tier in D&D lore. i dont' think they're represented in more than two D&D games that i've played though and you only fight one in one game if i remember right.

I'm not even going to touch spectral beings like ghosts, shadows, and wraiths because i don't really consider them undead. they're sort of their own sub category.

Divinity:OS depicts a lich properly. She's turned an entire forest into an undead hellscape that requires extensive preparation just to enter without dying to toxic gasses. She's also entirely invulnerable until you find her skeleton and fuck with it.
