Why aren't you playing the best game of all time?
Dwarf Norf Niff
I'm not into the whole "manage a fortress!" thing. I wish Adventure mode included some sort of campaign or anything that would move it away from literally bumbling around an overworld looking for shit to kill because the combat is really interesting and the autistic levels of simulation involved could make a really great roguelike RPG.
Honestly, I like this game. I read stories that happen to players and dream about all the fun I could have.
But I can't play. I don't know how. I tried to learn and failed. At the beginning, I had my dwarfs die of hunger and thirst near wagon. Then, they died in a cave they dug. I just don't understand how to play, but I like it.
I really want to make a big, successful fortress like this. I just don't have the attention span to play for more than a few hours at a time and whenever I load up a game I forget what I was doing.
I also cannot understand how to properly run some industries without insane multitasking.
Good question. This is what I found online, dating 2010. Not sure if it still applies.
>(esc) then "export local image" and (e)xport
>you will get a picture of every layer that is labeled as well as a txt file with your world gen information. If you don't want the picture, you can toggle the layers on/off. By default, every layer with a building is on.
>The pictures and txt file will be in your main DF directory afterward.
Because the interface is absolute dogshit. I'm not talking about the graphics, just the controls for shit. Inconsistent hotkeys even, I fucking love the concept of the game and I have put 5-10 hours into it, but I'm hate the fucking controls/interface
Gonna show location in a short while. But just start generating if you like
>Not a single bit of coal or tree on the entire biome
>Let's build the greatest forgery in the plane!
This, the "df is for intelligent people" is just a meme autistic faggots say to feel smart. Anyone can learn the game, it's just about memorization, not solving math equations
You learn how to navigate the UI by remembering what key does what and what menu is there and after that you just use resources to learn and play again and again and you'll improve.
People are too used to having their hand held and playing easy games desu.
Was just thinking about doing an autistic night on this game again tonight. Does someone play the new Masterwork modpack (reborn 0.5) and if so is it worth it for the content yet or should I stick with the old build (6.2.7)
I wouldn't use masterwork personally yet. It's extremely slimmed down and not really being worked on. But on the other hand, the latest stuff in DF feels great, so i would recommend playing vanilla.
Will check out what's new in vanilla thanks although I would like to test the new buildings that masterwork has to offer (magic, alchemy etc...) my last fort got too bloated with 140+ dwarfs running around and some idiots got lost in a cave and brought hell with them when they came back (as in a litteral army of cave monsters that fucked everything up) So I've been thinking about trying Masterwork again with a pop limit of 100 dwarves and a more secure planning for my mineshafts in order to check the High end buildings and stuff
Masterwork has some good ideas, and playing as other races breathe new life into the game.
But as far as i know, reborn is for the latest DF, so you're not actually gonna miss anything vanilla new by using reborn. Don't think they've implemented high end buildings and other stuff yet though. Only old Masterwork has that.
>build seaside fort
>gonna make a huge trap for fish and stuff
>dig out large flooding chamber
>use pump to channel water out to edge of map
>nothing ever spawns in the ocean
>hundreds of fish, sea monsters, crustaceans, etc all spawn in my outflow channel
Dwarf fortress isn't finished either.
How cool it would have been to have a Bioshock Ifinite spinoff taking place when the city Columbus invading New York in 1984. I started making a comic book relating to the truth from legend trailers. But it died. So now I want to hear your thoughts on it.
