>localization changes character from boy to girl
>/v/ is okay with this because the character becomes some cute girl thing
>this isn't considered censorship because it makes horny little boys happy
>localization changes a girl's clothing to show less skin
>/v/ thinks this is horrendous censorship and a blatant attempt at SJW pandering
>this is considered censorship because it kills desperate teenage boners
So, which is it? You can't say one is okay but the other isn't.
Because you're changing the original content due to conservative Western views and culture, e.g. a lack of trans acceptance in children's media.
It's exactly the same as covering a girl's midriff.
Do any sprites change?
Does any meaningful dialogue that impacts the story change (like that one character who was a flaming homosex that was changed, and then his DLC gay missions were contextually ruined)
Does the change impact the gameplay in a harmful way?
Was anything deliberately removed?
This isn't censorship, this is a small localization change. You're making a complaint that is analogous to thinking Maya eating hamburgers in the NA releases is censorship because sushi isn't as big here.
8/10 bait, I got annoyed enough to do a real response.
Isn't there a whole lot of dialogue that the reasons Vivian's sisters make fun of her is because she's a boy who identifies as a girl? Vivian is literally the definition of a trans girl.
>Was anything deliberately removed?
The character's identity was removed and replaced with a new one.
>this is a small localization change.
I agree, actually. Covering up a girls midriff is also a small localization change, as is changing a girl's age from 13 to 18 or making her wear pants instead of a skirt.
It's all trivial changes that shouldn't be a big deal, but guess which ones are considered SJW boogeyman changes.
they learned their lesson and stopped doing that
>making up strawmen to argue against on a korean flipbook BBS
Where did it all go wrong OP? Who hurt you?
>You can't say one is okay but the other isn't.
Yes I can.
Double standards nigger, for example yuri is okay but yaoi is not, because that's how my dick says so.
The correct thing to do is just make choices with your money(and dick) and get games that you like. If it is censored in a way that disagrees with me then I simply won't buy it.
Also why NISA is never ever getting my weeaboo inheritance dollars again until they get their shit right.
This is why localization needs to die out, what import games needs is translations.
You are arguing with a fucking ghost here. No-one has ever said they were okay with girl Vivian and it's never been the popular opinion here. No-one is conplaining about it because the game released years ago. You're fucking retarded OP.
it's perfectly fine to say "i like this but not that"
the problem lies in when you try to rationalize it like a fucking retarded yelling censorship when you don't like something
Yes and? Is there a problem with how I choose my video games?
they make fun of vivian because he looks like a girl, not any of your stupid SJW identify shit. Vivian was always referred to with masculine pronouns in the japanese version
Won't say it's right but I would say it was a different time 10 years ago. Those whole transgender thing was still a touchy subject and NoA had no idea how people would react to it. I mean look at people's reaction to Tomodochi Life and gay marriage. We live in a much different time and so changing Vivian story nowadays will actually cause more of a backlash than anything.
Also when has /v/ ever been consistent with what they think is censorship and what is not? Personally I think any changes like that isn't good but I care more about character than a swimsuit.
However, in the end, Goombella's letter indicates that Vivian's choice to be identified as female is accepted by her sisters as part of their efforts to be nice to her after the events of the game
>So, which is it? You can't say one is okay but the other isn't.
Actually you can say one is okay but the other isn't because you just made a really blatant example of false equivalence, you massive retard.
When it comes to video games and comics, they aren't. Shounen manga regularly has profanity, cross dressing, blood, violence, sexual appeal, panty shots, etc.
The culture is more conservative but only on actual real life matters.
No. Just a problem with your logic, or lack, thereof.
I want to fuck that ghost, no matter its gender
It's called you grow the fuck up and think "why have they been doing this?"
Am I supposed to go back in time and complain? What the fuck do I do about a game that released on the Gamecube? The biggest audience of video game consumers back then is old enough to notice this shit now.
Fucking pootergators thinking that this is even remotely a problem in any generation. These are localizations approved by the original creators, but you whiny pieces of shit have to find something to complain about.
It's always the same shit with this board. Can't ever be happy with what you have.
It does make sense though. If it's a change that bothers you, or that's done for reasons you don't agree with, you should complain about it.
If it's minor censorship that doesn't bother you because it's trivial to you, and that's done for reasons you don't care about, you can either complain about it because you still disagree with the censorship, or let people who actually care about it complain about it if you don't really care.
When a female character gets changed for puritanical reasons, I don't expect feminists to get up in arms about it and complain about it. The problem is that they actively encourage companies to censor things, and then they defend this censorship, saying it's "not censorship", anyone complaining about the censorship should be shamed, that it's a good thing and that more companies should do it, etc. The same thing applies to Christians, if an image of Satan is removed for religious reasons, I don't expect Christians to complain about it, but they shouldn't actively push for this kind of censorship
Meanwhile, if a character gets changed for conservative reasons (I'm not sure if this is what happened here), I don't expect people who aren't bothered by the change because they consider it minor to complain about the change. But at the same time, they shouldn't encourage companies to make those changes, and they shouldn't defend those changes by saying it's a good thing or that more companies should do it when they happen.
The internet wasn't what it is now when Paper Mario TTYD was released, and it's only recently that most people were made aware about this change during localization.
If they changed Kaine in Nier's localization to conform to conservative values in the West, I would've expected most people here to complain about it. And even if they didn't complain about it, they wouldn't insistently defend the changes, try to force companies to make those changes, or try to silence people complaining about those changes.
TL;DR: The hypocrisy you're talking about doesn't exist. You can't expect everyone to treat every bit of censorship equally, but you should expect them not to actively promote or defend it. People did complain about this when they made the change:
No one actively defended it.
>These are localizations approved by the original creators
Through the third party that's trying to change what they want changed to hold on to those fucking bucks.
That don't make shit right. They're both willing to do the material a misjustice in another territory to save money. One is apathy, the other greed and indolence.
I also take up personal issue with you for being a huge faggot and immediately throwing out buzzword bullshit. Consider the fact that your mind went there first. Stop perpetuating your own controversy.
Thus ruining most porn of her, which is a dreadful shame.
