>>323646589 >>323646959 >>323647921 >all 2D metroids that have Power Bombs clearly show what blocks can be power bombed via power bomb symbols when a regular bomb/x-ray scanner is applied >these do nothing on the glass, therefore it is part of the level and can't be interacted with The anon who posted it has made it a meme, but really is an exception to almost every other Metroid game in terms of intractability; SM was the last of the 2D Metroids i originally played, and i got stuck on the tube also.
>>323648532 But only stupid people would figure it out by pressing buttons that were never used for world interaction. The barrel acts like a trampoline too implying you have to use it as such. Eat a dick
>>323645995 Got to the typhoon boss or whatever the fuck his name is and finally Googled how to Larry since it didn't tell you clear enough. Shit was fucking stupid. Once you learn it the game is actually fun.
>>323654627 There was no reason to experiment because jumping worked gave a positive result and made many people think that it was down to timing. Retards like you just immediately thought "HURR I NEED TO GO UP SO ILL PRESS THE UP BUTTON" Sorry I didn't expect the game to pander to retards.
>>323654627 Actually if you had critical thinking abilities then you would have been stuck on that section. You would have noticed that the previous barrels in the stage were influenced by your momentum and therefore utilizing this would be the logical choice in attempting to solve this section. >no, let's ignore all my observations and let's just press up and down even though there was absolutely nothing that suggests this would work This is not critical thinking. This is a blind leap of faith.
>>323654627 >The only visibly direct way of interacting with the object is jumping on it >There is no indication that pressing up and down would work whatsoever as you don't interact with anything in any Sonic game up to that point in such a way >People are somehow stupid for getting stuck here.
People constantly moan about The Goddamn Tube like it's one of those ludicrously specific Zelda / Simon's Quest things which, while ridiculous, were principally a pain because they were MANDATORY. The Goddamn Tube, while not the most intuitive piece of design, isn't.
You don't ever NEED to break The Goddamn Tube. It's literally just a shortcut between Maridia and Brinstar, and all you miss out on by not breaking it is a single save point. Every item and 99% of Maridia is still accessible.
Furthermore, Maridia is designed to be traversed using the Gravity Suit. You get the Gravity Suit from the Wrecked Ship. Exiting the Wrecked Ship leads you to... Maridia, from another direction, with no breaking of The Goddamn Tube required. This is clearly how the developers expected you to enter Maridia: You grab the Gravity Suit, explore the ship's flooded area because it's literally right there, pop out on the other side of the ship and - hey! - you're in Maridia.
You can also get from Maridia back to Brinstar without breaking The Goddamn Tube, because there's a passage in lower Maridia that ends with you dropping out of the ceiling of a room immediately adjacent to The Goddamn Tube. All breaking The Goddamn Tube does is make this shortcut a two-way thing.
You can literally 100% the game without ever breaking The Goddamn Tube. It's a shortcut / Easter Egg, and not even a particularly useful one, all things considered.
Moaning about it is like moaning about how ducking on the white blocks in Mario 3 isn't intuitive enough. It's a secret bonus thing that the developers threw in because they expected players to fuck around and replay the game over and over trying new shit and trading hints with their friends.
>>323659857 I swear to all that is Holy that there was something you needed to break specifically to get into the frozen part of Maridia where Draygon is. I literally remember being pissed because the game expected me to backtrack and I was sure it was the Tube. Then I looked at the map and saw there was nothing down there besides a savepoint.
I couldn't have imagined that Tube being necessary somehow.
>>323648875 >jumping is clearly not working after a while >very finite amount of options remaining >test options until something responds >clear obstacle with the responsive option >calls other people stupid for not applying this incredibly basic mode of thinking that literal children figure out are you real
>barrel looks exactly like the ones found earlier in the stage >which you can move by jumping on them >you are never given a reason to try anything else besides jumping >jumping is the only thing that provides immediate feedback >jumping has been successful in all previous scenarios >jumping with the right timing can bring you so very, very close to success here >JUMPING WITH EXACT TIMING CAN ACTUALLY ALLOW YOU TO SUCCEED IN THIS SCENARIO >down is used for spindashing and not much else >up is not used much at all >pressing up provides no feedback >pressing down provides no feedback >you have to alternate between the two and time it right in order to start any movement >make sure it's stopped, or else you won't realize it's the up and down that's causing this, you'll think it was only the jumping that did it, because it's been the only thing that does >there is no other obstacle like this one at any point in this game, or in any of the other games in the series, ever
