5 minutes... that's how long you have to tell me what is the best Dragon Ball Z game or I'll blow this imageboard up!
2 minutes... I'll finish you in 2 minutes if you don't take your anime into the trash
they're fantastic show emulators
sure they're not the best fighting games around but if I want a fighting game I'll pick up street fighter
if I want to have some fun playing a DBZ game, BT3 is just the best
That's how long this thread has until it's deleted.
whats so good about this game? I played the first one back in middle school and was terrible.
Budokai Tenkaichi 3 on the Wii. Enormous roster, big story mode, lots of unlockables, waggle is well-implemented and fits the spirit of the show. You're a soulless golem if you don't derive enjoyment from having to mimic the Kamehameha motion to perform the move.
Dragon Ball Z: Legend of the Super Saiyan. Normal play and then when you learn how to mod characters.
Never actually watched DB or DBZ a whole lot. Dub or sub? Also, where do I watch/pirate? Is there different versions of each one I should know about?
Don't bother, it's just above bottom tier for anime and anime is bottom tier for types of shows to watch
If you're going to watch anime stick to only the best, critically acclaimed, pleb stuff like bebop and you'll at least have a good time.
Which one did you watch first?
Also, what would I be looking for when I search on piratebay or kickass? I know there's a bunch of different versions of everything, so I wanna make sure I get the right one.
Freeza was objectively the best villain.
Prove me wrong.
You literally can't

The only asspull about Cell was Gero making the retarded decision to build an organic android that had to eat two others to achieve it's true form.
It's like, hello Dr. Dipshit, just make it come out perfect right from the get go
There's only one dub of dragonball nobody watched so watch it if you want but otherwise skip to Z kai then watch the movies and then listen to the DBZ Faulconer soundtrack because Kai lacks it.
This is one of the tracks you won't get to hear by watching kai.
He had crazy regeneration. Why is pulling his own head off an asspull when he's gotten his upper body blown off twice?
And what Goku didn't wasn't an asspull, just incredibly idiotic and largely out of character
There will never be a DBZ game with a better story mode.
Regeneration is another thing that ruined Z later on. It was such a cheap and easy cop-out.
>Hero finally defeats the villain
>Nope turns out i can just regrow lost body parts like nothing lmao
Tien wasn't about to destroy the world, and when he gave Vegeta one, he had considered him redeemed for having "helped" Gohan and Krillin.
What he did with Cell was just retarded and put everyone through way more grief than necessary
Cell and Buu were the only ones who could even do that, what are you on about?
Even the, both made sense as one was a literal petri dish of everyone's best genetic traits, while the latter was apparently some primordial evil given form and thus hard as shit to obliterate. Nobody else had such great regenerative powers.
Movie villains don't count.
>Cell and Buu were the only ones who could even do that
Did you not read my post. I said it "ruined Z later on" and guess what? Cell and Buu were the latter villains of Z. Idiot.
Cell's regeneration is the only one that makes sense but that still doesn't stop it from being awful lazy writing because Toriyama couldn't be bothered to give his villains some new and interesting abilities, instead recycling stuff from before.
Since this is a dragon ball thread can we talk about xenoverse? i got it on sale for ps4 a few weeks ago and i really enjoy it. it has some flaws but i don't think it warrented the low reviews it received. i seriously hope they come out with a xenoverse 2. ideally it'd have 150+ characters like BT3. also i wish there were tail options for the saiyan race because ottherwise their appearances looked the exact same as humans just with different stats
It's not even that it's Japanese... it's bad Japanese.
There are a few good tracks though. But they're almost never used well within the series itself.
Of course, this was stolen from the Mortal Kombat film soundtrack. Goro vs Art.
How was Cell's regeneration recycling? Beyond Piccolo, nobody else regen powers. As for Buu, it was sensible since Buu was apparently a cosmic horror Bibbidy had conjured into the form known as Kid Buu
>awful lazy writing
Dude, it's fucking dragon ball z, not the epic of girugamesh. The whole thing is lazy writing, cell and buu are just as poorly written as any other villian in Z, I don't see why you would single them out.
Considering he says like "3 minutes" or so after believing Goku had been defeated, it's fair to assume he just had shit understanding of time.
And by that, I mean that Toriyama clearly didn't reconsider the estimate and go with something more believable like "30 minutes", even if that wouldn't be as immediately dire as 5
Lazy is a bit harsh. DBZ is simple storytelling but I don't think I could call Piccolo, Vegeta and Freeza lazily written. Cell was more straight forward, but even he had his twists and turns that elevate him out of lazy.
Buu saga stuff... well, that's different. Toriyama was clearly past caring by that point.
The whole point of Cell is that he's an amalgam of the top fighters in the universe. His whole role is to not be "original" but to show how terrifyingly powerful a being that had the strongest aspects of all the biggest characters would be.
>SSJ beats Frieza
>SSJ2 beats Cell
>SSJ3 fails against Buu
>Fusion fails against Buu
>Potential unlocked fails against Buu
Seems like he actually went and changed the formula. I personally like how fucked up things got in the Buu saga, it was a nice escalation.
buu's fury, legacy of goku 2 has some better points though.
>best fighting game
best fighting game mechanics, high skill ceiling.
>most entertaining story
Super sonic warriors has all sorts of crazy shit, like krillion mastering the spirit bomb and kaiken past the levels goku ever did, piccolo fusing with kami for a power boost, and more from pretty much each "main" character from the series.
>Best DBZ game
Now keep in mind I have yet to play xenoverse yet, so someone could argue that one with me, but for me its BT3. Sure it doesn't have as deep mechanics as B3, but its combat is closer to DBZs style, and it has a FUCK TON of characters. For that reason its the "best" dbz game in my opinion.
I wish the newer games wouldn't schlep it so much with the story. I know that it's rare for Japanese games that aren't original works like RPGs to have fully fleshed out plots, but I'd kill for a DBZ game where it followed the entire storyline of even Dragon Ball to the end of Z with the fullness and depth of story as the series itself.
Obviously not all the boorish shit like Bulma sitting on her ass and whining for 4 minutes but still more than "Let's talk about shit happening while your character flounders in the air like a puppet on strings"
Well that, and he burned out his time on earth.
Which I never got. Was his "time" basically loaned out spirit energy/ki? Seems bizarre that transforming would halve what little time he had on earth
I always figured SS speed up the metabolism to some degree. Hence goku getting sick faster, hence fusion wearing off faster. Apparently the whole "day" thing is measured off of your body's clock, not any real sense of time.
That just seems stranger, though. I mean, I get the idea of it accelerating the illness, since it was largely implied to be the case in Cyborg saga that going Super Saiyan made his condition worse. But I always found it weird he burned out his "time" by transforming. Of course, it did seem Toriyama was originally implying the form was the most stressing of all, given how it was barely used by the last leg of the Buu saga
Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout
Also, when we gonna have a DBSuper game with original plot like the Saint Seiya Omega PSP game?
Thing is though, I played on
Wiiand for some reason they fucked up the controls in BT3 and I just couldn't enjoy it as much just because of that. Other wise it would have been the better game.
On handheld's legacy of goku 2 was a blast. Is Buu's Fury worth playing (emulating)?
