What are your thoughts on Sega? From their beginnings to where they are now? Favorite games, favorite era, something you'd like to see from them?
They were great in the 80s and 90s, so much talent even SoJ's stupidity could not dim their brilliance. The Dreamcast was the twilight of Sega greatness, a final flame before the night.
They left consoles and then got bought by Sammy who have turned them into one of the world's most mediocre games companies.
They were awesome in early 2000s too. Deamcast was fun as fuck especially all the imports. I'm glad Xbox came around and Sega kept making games instead of having to buy a shitty ps2
I really wish Sega would make another panzer dragoon game on any plateform. I'm one of the few that downloaded crimson dragon
>instead of having to buy a shitty ps2
One of my favorite companies in gaming ever. My favorite systems are the MD and the Saturn but I love the MS and the Dreamcast too.
They have way too many great games to list them all but Dragon Force, Landstalker, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, the Shining Force series and the original Sonic are among my favorite games ever.
Alien: Isolation was my personal GOTY for 2014. I wish they'd revive AvP. AvP2010 was pretty good, looking back.
Yea ps2 was gimpy and the stick layout for the controller lame. Playing games on Dreamcast online was fun and no $40 memory cards necessary.
The controller seriously needed a revision, mainly a second stick to stay competitive, but Sega lost its foothold and continued on with Xbox. Even the Bleemcast improved graphics better than the ps2s shifty upscaling
Favorite era - 96-2004
They had a weird drop in quality due to restructuring in 2005-2007
But have been great since 2008. Localizations are slowing down and there was a big shift to mobile which is scary. But Sonic, PSO2 and Yakuza are still good console games
>Tfw I haven't played a Sonic game beyond Sonic 3 and Knuckles
Should I play anything after that?
I wish they could've kept the band together, so to speak. They seem like one of the only companies left with any respect for their own history, even as business dictates what they have to make and publish. I'll keep holding out for that remaster of Skies of Arcadia.
Sonic Colors and Generations are good. I have some nostalgic fondness for the Advance and Adventure games, but not sure how they hold up for someone that hasn't played it.
Playing Skies of Arcadia Legends this very moment on my CRT. Holding out for a remaster as well, fighting Barta and Rupee right now.
Hurr durr look at me I'm shit posting. What's your favorite games and/or company?
Protip: we will never hear from your faggot ass anyway and you accomplish nothing in life
If Sega likes money, HD remasters or collections should start flowing. I own most Sega games anyway but i'd gladly buy them again to play on whatever platform
Current state of Sega and its "fans"
>we want old games, ports and sequels!
>hd ports and sequels to old games like hotd, nights journey of dreams, phantasy star universe and portable, multiple sonics flop
>fucking nostalgia! we want new experiences! give us new games you fucking jews!
>platinum collabration projects fail, new ips like tembo, hell yeah, renegade ops, and binary domain flop
Fuck that. Who /realsegafanandbuyseverything/ here?
PS2 is better than the buttseXbox, though.
Wasn't SoJ's rageof losing against SoA, the downfall of Sega?
The CEO of SoA at the time he was fired, now
he's CEO of a multi-billionare toy company, can't remember the name trought
New games are coming out for it to this day, so of course!
I like getting shiny red diamond shaped things with shit mag food weapons inside as much as any soulless drone but PSO ain't real Phantasy Star.
Panzer Dragoon Orta is still the best rail shooter game ever made.
And Moebius somehow drew the cover for the first game which still gets me hard to this day.
The series logically ended at 4. Being spun off into an online series, one of consoles very first, was a bold and great move. PSO-PSU-PSO2 are all great.
Whats most hilarious is all these monster hunter kiddy faggots who don't realize where their precious series came from. And how PSO is always much better than shitty janky old monster hunter.
Once the kings of arcade games, only the Yakuza team can reach the brilliance of the glory days. And because the guy in charge of it is literally in charge of Sega vidya game division. And even then he has to drop trou every time to higher ups want to do something fucking stupid.
YAH YAH YAH YAH YAH
-$40 memory cards
-online was garbage
-no decent games until 2-3 years after launch
-next to no sega support
-twin stick layout is for little gook/girl hands
PS2 had mostly weeaboo games and GTA. It built a decent library after several years of suffering (by gamers). How else did a brand new console from non-console company get such a large foothold if PS2 was as great as some of you say?
I don't buy everything from them. I bought the Nights HD Collection and Binary Domain though.
I do agree that everyone just sorta ignored their weird phase of pushing new IPs for a few years for no real reason though.
>-no decent games until 2-3 years after launch
Yup. While everyone was laser focused on making fun of sonic 06 for the better part of a decade, a bunch of smaller quality digital games went right through them. This industry is a fucking joke. Hell yeah and renegade ops are fucking great and I still frequently play them
>tfw eternal SEGAfags are about to experience a new SEGA golden age with Haruki-San in charge
>tfw the weak chaff already killed themselves after the DC died, only those strong enough to deserve the golden age survived
>tfw going through a goldenage when shitty nintendo and sony fags think your company is dead because they know 0 about this industry, so they don't shitpost your threads
Feels good, man.
that's all you have, huh? wow ps2 was a powerhouse
pic related. Typical PS2 library
To be fair, Yamauchi-san hired Yakuza to hang out and scare customers away from Sega arcades back in the Genesis days when the SNES was getting it's ass kicked in Europe.
Having ties to the Yakuza is pretty much a pre-requisite for any major Japanese company in the arcade business (Konami, SNK, etc)
the bouncer? are you fucking serious? mgs2 and Omnimusha were on Xbox w/ extras. Twisted Metal was so good no one played it, especially online. Time Crisis 2 is superior in arcade, especially when you CANT EVEN USE THE PS2 GUNCON on it. Only a GunCon 1 (or an offbrand GunCon 1+2+Konami Justfier in one) worked.
Half that list is valid.
>mgs2 and Omnimusha were on Xbox w/ extras
they were exclusives at one point, by your logic the only exclusive worth a damn on the dreamcast is shenmue
>Twisted Metal was so good no one played it, especially online
now i know your baiting, kill yourself
>get home today
>feeling pretty down for various reasons that I won't discuss here because NOT MUH BLOG
>log on steam, check sales
>buy The Typing of the Dead Overkill since it's 75% off
>end up being the most fun I've had with a video game since I don't even fucking remember
Varla Guns is my waifu.
Grew up in a Sega household, I had a Genesis until a Dreamcast. Still have them both, in fact I just had a Power Stone 2 gathering a couple weeks ago. It's a shame to see such a big part of my childhood go to the wayside like that but Sega is allergic to money it seems so they deserve it.
Still holding out on a Skies of Arcadia rerelease though. Maybe even a prequel with ship combat like Ass Creed 4? A man can dream
What about it doesn't make sense? If anything saying it's just a placeholder makes no sense. 2016 would make a lot more sense as a placeholder if it were actually coming out this year. Then again I'm probably talking to someone who thought the localization was going to release this spring, under the logic that it's smaller than Y5.
>someone saved my pasta
You're going to get a lot of people who say "They were good in the 90s but aren't good now"
These people are no longer really fans of SEGA. They dropped out and haven't been keeping up with SEGA. Things are getting better and better since about 2010, with the last few moves made between 2013 and 2015. 2016 is the year that it's going to be undeniable. Starting with the announcement of VF6 soon in Feb, and going on to the 25th anniversary events.
Enjoy your suicide anon.
I'll be busy enjoying good games
>I'm a boring person that didn't have friends to play with
Bet you never even played Def Jam Fight For NY
Sega is about to go full mobile, mark my words. By 2017 they'll be known more for freemium games than Sonic
>under the logic that it's smaller than Y5
Never thought this. Just don't see why it couldn't get translated by the end of this year.
would make no sense to release zero physically and leave kiwami hanging
>Sega is about to go full mobile
>Still going by that quarterly report
I bet you didn't even read the damn thing. It was describing the current state of SEGA, not it's future plans. SEGA invests a chunk of change into mobile, but nothing ridiculous compared to any other company.
Sega just seems like a relic of different times. They're an A title maker stuck in a world where it's either AAA or mobile shovelware. There's just no market anymore for the kinds of games they create
No seriously, why are you copy and pasting my responses from another thread? That's fucking weird, bro.
Sega is the best at fucking things up. Every time they do anything good they somehow manage to ruin it next time. I like them anyway though. They should stop pouring money into Sonic, it's never been good and it never will be. Just stop.
>They should stop pouring money into Sonic, it's never been good
Get the fuck out of here, Sonic 2 and 3 are infinitely better than Mario 2 and 3
but SM World shits on the entire Sonic catalogbut I agree, They really need to stop with the yearly Sonics and maybe focus on other shit
>This butthurt level
Astounding how far anti-SEGAfags will go.
Enjoy shitposting on 4chan though.
>projecting this hard
>being this fucking butthurt over sega failing
Sega fans are fucking delusional. There's no denying it, it's just a fact.
Enjoy whitknighting your shit tier company on 4chan though
They're a shell of their former self for sure. I feel as if today, Sega still have some creative geniuses hiding away, but the people who are running the company don't give a shit, and gamers today just don't care about Sega sans Sonic, Miku and Shogun.
I feel as if Sega really looked at themselves as a company, and the games they have they could probably find a way to make quick cheap games that could make a profit for them since I assume fear of bankruptcy is the reason they stick to Sonic. I mean the amount of IP's they have and don't want to make games with is pretty disgusting. At least Nintendo will try something different once every couple years, meanwhile the best Sega can do is a HD port.
Personally, I'd love to see a sequel to Skies of Arcadia. It's my favourite game, a HD port or even a sequel would be fine for me, just for Sega to acknowledge the game again would be great. If they did make a sequel, I hope they'd keep the same feeling of adventure, and the same VA's.
It was a couple days ago anon. What, you forget everything you do after a couple of days?
He used the same images that I used with the same posts.
The fact that he saved them on his computer, and then copy and pasted the words, and remembered which words go with which pictures, is the most pathetic thing I've ever seen on /v/.
BR is pretty top tier. Can't beat Skies, though.
I don't like your attitude, FELLA!
Yeah, I had no problem with him, whereas a lot of other people did, it's nice to know Sega still have some sort of contact with him to actually get him to voice the character.
I tend not to remember shitposts I made a few days ago. Then again I rarely shitpost.
But yeah, copypasting your shitposts is almost as pathetic as the fact you wrote them unironically to begin with.
I don't think the dev team ever intended to make a sequel to Skies of Arcadia. Plenty of less succesful/notable Sega games got sequels, I don't think SoA didn't get one because it couldn't.
On the gamecube they even decided to just remake it instead of doing a sequel .
>They're shitposts if I disagree with them and can't disprove them
Nah m80, ur just a cunt
I'd say you need to look at the actions SEGA has taken, things like putting Nagoshi in charge of creative, or protecting Sonic team from the restaffings other teams have gone through while they figure things out, to see that they're a company who gives a shit. They just didn't know what they were doing for a good chunk of time. Two totally different things. Let's not confuse incompetence for malice. And while they've been incompetent, I'd say that they've definitely gotten a lot better in these past 5 years. Most of the people who dropped the ball are gone and replaced, especially with things like A:CM and Sonic Boom.
I got the game FOR Vyse (just like Valkyria Chronicles, has that man ever been in a bad game?), I loved Skies and loved the VA. It's also kinda funny that I live a couple blocks away from Vyse Ave here in NYC
It's already begun anon.
The writing has been on the wall since at least 2012. The last few pieces were put into place at the beginning of the year, and then Haruki took the reigns this past summer. The people who managed Boom and Colonial marines were the last shitty part of SEGA, and they got fired in that giant lay-off.
People were resistant in 2014 and 2015 because Boom came out, even though the trail of maneuvers leads back to 2008, but 2016 will be the year where it's undenyable. (Or at least 2017. There's gonna be a lot of shitposting this year. Vanquish PC port is going to be the moment when /v/ reconsiders their opinions, and there's 0 chance that's not happening this year)
I'm not the one who sits in a SEGA thread to shit on SEGA.
So, what's your favorite franchise anons? Single game is one thing, but which franchise brought you more fun than others?
I vaguely remember reading somewhere that they were getting ready to make a sequel, or at least began to write the story for it, but then the DC failed and Skies didn't get the recognition it needed back when getting a sequel was likely.
Understandably, it makes sense to not have a sequel. Vyse and Co did travel the whole world and there isn't much else to do, they'd have to write something putting them in a new world, or a discovery of a new world that Vyse and co want to travel. I'd love to see any kind of recogonition to Skies though, prequel, sequel, remake, remaster etc.
I think once they saw they had about $900k in the bank, they had to unfuck their shit before they lost everything.
I bought VC myself for the Skies characters. Finding out it was a WW2 inspired SRPG was even better. I just recently bought Eternal Arcadia Limited Edition for £80.
Unboxing thread soon
>Can't recognize your own writing style
It's not hard to do so. Maybe you have shit memory or something. I can remember posts I've made from months ago. And if I can't, seeing them in front of my eyes will jog my memory.
Anon, if you were that butthurt about the last thread being deleted, you don't have to make another.
This is the upcoming games released by or published by SEGA specifically. It's generally their big projects. However, this doesn't include games entirely released by or Published by Atlus, and I wouldn't doubt that CA will get some autonomy this year as well. It also doesn't include the coming announcements surrounding the Sonic 25th anniversary, and E3. SEGA always uses E3 to announce games coming in the same year.
Honestly, kill yourself anon
>I think once they saw they had about $900k in the bank
They never had "900k in the bank" anon. Once again, this is due to poor reading of quarterly reports. They had 900k in the bank because Sammy holds all accounts not linked directly to current game development, and there was a lull at that point in the dev cycle. Some games were finishing and some were starting their development when that report came out.
I have no idea what you're talking about, I just made that post to call you an idiot. Sega is dead, expect nothing but Sonic and phone games until they drop video games for pachinko
>every SEGA thread
Anon, I barely come on here. I'm just here now because there's a lull in my studies. There's several of us around that I know of, and every so often me and them interssect in a thread. There was one in the thread that that faggot was pulling my posts from, I believe.
>missing the point this badly
No really, it's funny how your posts are so predictable, so easily recognizable that I can just reverse search key words in the archive and figure out exactly which posts are yours, even though everyone is anonymous. You're literally a tool.
Those ones you've pulled are all from the same thread, so I don't get what you're saying. It's pretty easy to spot a conversation thread within a thread just using the post responses, and I was only really talking to one or two anons. But go ahead and try it, anon. I'm sure Haruki-san will pull up a few, but I know there's a bunch of others who use that as well.
Are you that one anon, anon? Were you that buttblasted?
>Anon, I barely come on here.
>There's several of us around that I know of,
Anon, you're so far up your own ass trying to come up with excuses its beyond ridiculous. Just a curious look at past sega threads and your posts show up in each and every one of them
Or, and follow me on this one, there's a few people who are all pulling from the same sources and statistics that are openly available for fans of SEGA to peruse at their leisure, and you're some butthurt fag that got blown the fuck out by one of them, or me.
Honestly, this shit is comedy gold. I've never seen asshurt like this before. I might just have to screencap this.
>So, what's your favorite franchise
5. Phantasy Star Online (sorry I just can't sit through the Genesis games)
4. Shining series
3. Virtua Fighter
2. Streets of Rage
1. Sonic because I'm a giant manchild
Best game Sega ever made though was Skies of Arcadia
That was definitely me in the other thread, so I can tell pretty well just because I remember writing that stuff. If I had come on here an hour later or earlier, I would have not seen it. Never seen an anon do this before. This is a new level of asshurt shitposting that might just be the most hilarious thing I've ever seen on /v/
You mean how SEGA writes SEGA?
If that's your criteria, anon, know that I write SEGA in all sorts of different ways, like sega, and Sega, and even SeGa. That's a huge amount of people who are fans of sega.
>Those ones you've pulled are all from the same thread
Actually they're from 3 different threads, including the one about Capcom, one that I didn't post in. Just reverse searching those posts pulls up multiple thread.
It's one thing to spot a conversation within a thread, it's another to identify exactly who is posting across multiple threads, even while they're anonymous, just based off their rhetoric. Or in your case, the sheer amount of butthurt from a delusional segadrone.
>Are you that one anon, anon? Were you that buttblasted?
this is ironic coming from you, you're so buttblasted you defend sega in every thread using the same discredited points over and over.
>sega is allergic to money XD
Out of all the memes here i gotta say, this is the one that triggers me the most for some reason. Where were these so called "fans" in the last decade? Sure as fuck not buying the HD ports, new ip, or new sequels
>same discredited points over and over.
Then discredit me anon.
Posting my old posts is just hilarious buttblastedness that makes me giggle. But, if you want to piss me off, then discredit them.
That's a sign of actual, genuine autism anon. Please get checked.
>Buying HD ports
And Sega is allergic to money, every time they have a good idea and are on to something (Sonic Generations, Chain Chronicle, the Platinum partnership, Sonic Unleashed DLC stages) they completely fuck it up and ruin any hope anyone has of them actually producing quality titles.
Actually it's just you, some butthurt sega fag that got blown the fuck out in multiple threads posting the same idiotic talking points, I mean "statistics" in said threads. You even admitted they were from you here >>323617150
But you're right that this is comedy gold. Please feel free to screen cap your own ineptitude and sheer asspain from getting BTFO so hard
>anon, you're posting the same shit that's been discredited in old threads
>yeah well then prove me wrong in this one!
Your old posts ARE buttblastedness. That's what's so hilarious about it
Like what? What have they fucked up so hard recently? Yakuza is starting to come back (which stopped because of bad sales here, so much for all those "fans"), PSO2 is great, valkyria chronicles got a full trilogy and 3 was portable perfection, sonic boom media is doing good for them, project divas coming, a new valkyria is coming, binary domain was ace, and they've published several smaller scale digital games in recent years that are very fun, the hype train has taken off for the 25th anniversary sonic game. Along with a steady stream of hd ports of their older classics.
Does none of this suddenly count because sonic lost world and boom were shit or something? I dont get where these ridiculous, completely off base accusations and thoughts come from. IGN? Youtube faggots saying its all shit? I just really dont get it.
Happy New Year
I forgot about a ton of stuff, like the 3DS classics, and the PC ports that are unannounced but have been teased on the SEGA facebook and blog, like Vanquish.
SEGA is about to enter a golden age. Nothing shall stop Haruki-San
Anon, this is an anonymous image board. I'm gonna leave here tonight and not give a shit what other people here think about me. And tomorrow when you post them, I'm still not going to give a shit. And the day after that, and the day after that. So if you have to post them, go ahead. Enjoy it. Once again, as I stated in threads you have a very deep familiarity of, I'm gonna go play vidya, enjoy your shitposts.
Funny thing about those 3ds classics. They are gonna stop doing them despite being well done ports on great games. Wanna know the reason? THEY DONT FUCKING SELL! AT A CERTAIN FUCKING POINT, ITS NOT THE COMPANY THATS AT FAULT, ITS THE GOD DAMN CUSTOMER THATS FUCKING RETARDED!
This is an anonymous imageboard, and yet it's stupidly easy to recognize which posts belong to the one buttblasted sega fanboy across multiple threads
Also for someone who claim to not give a shit, you sure are desperate to go out of your way to defend yourself and sega from any criticsm on this anonymous imageboard. I'm sure you won't show up in the next Sega thread, and the one after that, judging by how obviously not butthurt you are.
Sure. But even if I agree with you that they're shitposts. Ironic shitposting is still shitposting. And the irony and butthurt is biting.
But let's just leave the decision about who's butthurt to anyone still reading this thread who isn't avoiding it like the plague. Most of them will say we're both butthurt, but whatever. All I know is, at least I didn't have to do work and put in research to get butthurt,.
>All I know is, at least I didn't have to do work and put in research to get butthurt,.
But that's exactly what you did. See: "the same sources and statistics that are openly available for fans of SEGA to peruse at their leisure"
>ITS NOT THE COMPANY THATS AT FAULT, ITS THE GOD DAMN CUSTOMER THATS FUCKING RETARDED!
Anon, I just put in "SEGA news" in google every morning along with my general news searches. It's as simple as subscribing to a blog.
You, however, went into the archive to dig up posts, look through them, spot consistencies in threads that happened at about the same time on the same day, and then copy and paste them. Not to mention save the images and remember which posts they go with. Also the fact that you slip every so often when you post as two people in this thread is making me laugh my ass off. But I don't point that out generally, and I'm not really pushing on it, because I'm not sure if it's true, you see, because we're an anonymous image board. Whereas you're calling for a ban on everyone who writes sega as sega writes sega.
But in 15 minutes, the time I've allotted myself for fucking around on /v/ is over, and I'll be going to play yakuza, so make your next few posts count, anon. I'm in a bunch of other threads right now, though anon. Maybe you can spot me.
It didn't make any sense to not localize the HD collection either. This is sega we're talking about here. You're less likely to see Kiwami localized for the west than a localisation for Yakuza 6. Because that would make too much sense for sega.
Sega is the idiot savant vidya industry.
They don't just have good ideas. They have incredible ones. Consistently, too. The wellspring never seems to dry up for them as far as quality, enjoyment and originality in games goes.
The problem is that they have no idea how to handle them and wind up murdering every single blockbuster IP they have. It's like every time they reach into their pockets, they pull out diamonds and then proceed to just flush them down the toilet.
Sonic, Virtua Fighter, Streets of Rage, All Star Racing, Dreamcast, Skies of Arcadia, Shenmue, Sword of Vermilion, all literally golden IPS. All killed by Sega's own stupidity. And that's just a few of them. There's a shitload more.
The rumors are that the HD collection will be localized on PC, because Y5's "no one owns a ps3" concerns were pretty hardcore, and no one owns a WiiU. Waiting a bit for their current PC porting group to be done and then having them port it makes the most sense. They already have the translations done, afterall.
No theyre not. Their games and ips are probably the best in the industry. Sure as fuck beats endless shallow mario, pokemon, zelda rehashes and shovelware crap made for little kids.
>Anon, I just put in "SEGA news" in google every morning along with my general news searches. It's as simple as subscribing to a blog
And yet that results in you posting the same talking points, same rhetoric in every thread to defend Sega.
Just give it up anon, you've slipped up posting as multiple people across several sega threads, and your asspain-fuled damage control has become predictable at this point. I'm not the only one ITT who noticed it either.
Also it's hilarious how you try to end every other post with some variation of "I'm going to play games now, enjoy shitposting!" before coming right back to shitpost to defend Sega some more. You're a laughing stock dude.
>The rumors are that the HD collection will be localized on PC
Actually the rumor was 0 and 5 would be ported to PC, not the HD collection. Localization of the HD collection doesn't exist (though the original games do) and there's no info on the HD collection being localized for any platform.
Even if it was though, fat chance of that ever happening. Sony had to fund Y5's localization that sega wouldn't pay for on their own to begin with.
Sega is honestly pretty fucking based. Easily one of my favorite game companies, both past and present. Despite an admitted slip-up around the time they were churning out shitty Sonic games, they've been pretty consistent and today are doing everything they can to live up to their golden age.
They've been very supportive of PC, and if the rumors of all the ports they've got planned turn out to be true that'll be even moreso.
Yakuza is one of my favorite series of all time, and is going stronger than ever. Miku games are weeb as hell but fun as fuck. Sega's even good as a publisher, supporting stuff like Alien Isolation and they're almost solely responsible for Platinum Games becoming as big as they are today.
Virtua Fighter 6.
They have a line-up for this February's event (forgot the name) where they will reveal their upcoming arcade games.
Most of these games end up having a console release
