I like shooters. Post some of your favorite single player shooters.
The most recent shooter I really enjoyed
Liked Future Perfect more from a single player perspective, but 2 was still fantastic.
>tfw there will never be another TS game
>it will never be time to split again
>you will never have a Dirty Harry robot sidekick
>tfw Nightdive tried to repackage NOLF but couldn't
truly a shame
they could but were not allowed to since the IP is in legal hell limbo between EA, Vivendi/Activision-Blizzard and Warner Bros and it will remain there FOREVER.
It's probably for the best anyway as I can't imagine a single developer/publisher in nowadays' video games industry climate to do the series justice.
Was much better than I expected
i had one of these MoH games on PS2.
it had a cheat that turned enemy heads into big ass trains, then you had trains on human bodys comming at you through the forest like a T rex from jurrasic park, that was awesome.
What are Monolith doing now? I really want to see a new FPS from these guys. Focused on PC, if possible.
>from these guys
All the good guys left years ago when Jace Hall that faggot ass nigger sold the company to Warner Bros.
Nothing good will ever come out of Monolith. It's just the name that remained, like with id Software.
Key members of Monolith Productions left to form Blackpowder Studios, people like Craig Hubbard, who was lead of NOLF games, Shogo and FEAR.
They already released a game called Betrayer
it's a broken piece of a shit, but I love it.
you have good taste anon
I like you
Original Far Cry is my favorite FPS and I'm not even joking.
P.S. Trigens were a
mostlywell designed enemy that changed the pace of combat.
>Ctrl + F "Doom"
You should be ashamed.
>Doom 1 & 2
>Duke Nukem 3D
>System Shock 2 (it was pretty much an FPS)
VERY HIGH TIER
>Return to Castle Wolfenstein
>Blood 2 (although I suspect everyone else would place this one lower)
>Soldier of Fortune
>Chasm: The Rift
>Redneck Rampage (broken piece of garbage with extremely stupid level design)
>Wolfenstein 3D (flat, boring FPS)
pic related will always be my favorite. growing up on wolfenstein it's been cool seeing how things develop, but Doom II has a hard time being topped.
lately I had fun with Wolf: the old blood
as far as favorite multiplayer shooters, perfect dark is perfect as far as im concerned
enemy territory was fucking amazing
My first experience was co-op with a british friend over the internet about 8 years ago.
He mostly carried me through because this is pretty much the only build engine game that royally kick my ass.
>all those custom maps focused on kicking severed heads around
>could only play online half the time because MPlayer sucked
Days long past.
>no chex quest
also i thought i was one of the few people who played blake stone
It's pretty recent, but The New Order should get more attention because of
that button that let you lean as far as you wanted in any direction
Am I the only one who finished Blood while ducking almost constantly due to choking hands? I mean: they were the basic thing to check while entering unknown room due to huge fucking damage they could deal (not to mention their attack being really fucking unpleasant) and shooting them was easiest while ducking.
I'm not implying, I'm stating. The base combat was awful. Did you know that the way animations work in SS2 melee enemies can't move and attack you at the same time, so, as long as you just move you can kill rumblers with a laser pistol? It's true! Also, guns feel like shit and the weapon balance is pants-on-head retarded! I mean I still liked a game but it's so flawed it's unreal.
>Did you know that the way animations work in SS2 melee enemies can't move and attack you at the same time
It works the same in Doom and we can all agree it was one of the greatest FPS games of all time.
Episode 2 is so much better than HL2 gameplay-wise it's unreal. The hunters alone are better than every single HL2 enemy. The battles are great and the final battle is very well directed and actually feels like a climax for once, instead of that awful shit they pulled in the end of 2. Episode 1 is underrated, but I'm probably the only one who'd rank it above original, and it really is way too short.
You know how many melee-only enemies Doom has? Three. One of them is genuinely harmless alone and only works when map makers use it correctly. Another is the same thing but is hard to see in dark places, a bit of "gotcha" enemy. The last one is half-projectile and actually CAN attack you on the move... well, it rams into you and you can't outrun it (I think?).
You know how many melee enemies SS2 has? Hybrids get a pass because you whack them with the wrench and that is a bit dangerous, but when Rumblers (who are supposed to be those really scary big bad things) and Spiders appear you have stupid amounts of ammo anyway.
Also in Q1 Knights can and will whack you while running. Technology!
Also, as I said Spectres and Pinkies can be hand-placed by wad creator for maximum butthurt. In SS2 the melee-only enemies are never placed in that way, and later they respawn anyway.
Medal of Honor PS1
I like its art direction
Depends on the difficultly level you're playing on, things sometimes bug out on the higher difficulties, like you being unable to break out of the choke, or you burning forever from max fire armor and 200 health just by getting licked. Pair that with overly accurate Cultist with increased health that can react and shoot immediately on sight, and you basically have to take it slow at some parts. Doesn't help that you have some lackluster weapons, like the Aerosol, Proximity and Life Leech.
Hard reset is pretty fun, and very good looking, and runs well.
I had a blast with this despite hating the environments, the weak "horror", awful storytelling and getting lost in samey corridor mazes all the time. Speaks volumes on how much fun the shooting was.
All the TS games were my jam. I loved the two most recent Wolfenstein games partly I think because they reminded me so much of a current-gen Future Perfect with Nazis.
You will never play as Harry Tipper ever again. Gunning down squids and freaks, listening to the Nightclub theme on the snow level while you try and infiltrate the main building and grab the bag.
My heart is broken more and more every day over the loss of this game.
