Mechanics/Gameplay > Fuck everything else
Tell that to Silent Hill or Resident Evil 1, 2, 3
I guess it depends on the type of game... For example, online games don't need a good story or atmosphere at all, just gameplay + graphics (or not even the latter).
>Mechanics/Gameplay > everything else
>Posts an example of a game almost entirely reliant on story and atmosphere
The mechanics of that type of game is literally typing words. Would you enjoy just randomly typing words with no context at all?
It really depends. Witcher 3 is one of my favorite games because of its atmosphere and story. The gameplay is pretty mediocre. Another favorite of mine is God Hand, which is pretty much purely gameplay and nothing else.
>picking anything over gameplay
GAMEplay, a game is worthless if the gameplay is shit. A good story is always nice to have but isn't really necessary for a game.
I think you're confused. That is not a text adventure, it's a MUD. The storytelling is virtually zero and nonexistant. The only story you get is that you're in a post-apocalyptic enviroment where you can do anything you want.
You fucking retard.
Are you retarded or something? It's similiar to a roguelike. Just because a programmer has added the functionality that you can cut off the heads of kids and fuck said heads, doesn't mean it's Storytelling simply because someone wrote code to add this possibility. That's like comparing shooting a rifle to reading a book, holy hell you're retarded. I mean I can tell what you were attempting, but now you're just backpedalling into "I'm just pretending to be retarded" just for the sake of having this arguement.
Grow up kid.
>Just because a programmer has added the functionality that you can cut off the heads of kids and fuck said heads, doesn't mean it's Storytelling
It's literally a story. The programmer specifically wrote the game so you can cut off the kid's head and fuck it. It wasn't some kind of accident or some event YOU created, retard.
