your favorite game hahahah ooooh that must really sting huh? you must have such cherished memories of your favorite game and yet it's SHIT hahahaha like poo from a butt it's stinky and bad. your favorite game = shit!!!!
>I dislike a game because Egoraptor told me it was bad
>I am too young to have experienced when it was released and therefore don't know shit
What about overrated games that are still pretty good?
ITT: We hate great games cause they are old an have been improved by the latter's.
Let me know when it'd be Castlevania Symphony of the Night's turn.
compared to what?
name something at the same time that did everything as well as it did.
not saying it was outstanding in most departments, but it didn't do a lot wrong.
Had a Playstation before I got an N64 my man
Super Mario 64 was better in most departments, but the setting of OoT was more engaging. SM64 separated it's "levels" with paintings and whatnot, where OoT was more a seamless living world.
I like both for different reasons.
>SM64 separated it's "levels" with paintings
This is probably the most overrated game I've ever encountered. The story is predictable, the combat is sluggish, and the environments are bland.
>hating on a game that integrated great action with platforming and puzzle
>fairly open world, which wasn't very prevalent on N64
>loads of side missions
OP, you're a massive faggot and you know it.
Voted the number 1 game of all time by the Japanese. Liked by mostly underage here. This game was a terrible end to my friendship with Square.
>was a terrible end to my friendship with Square.
It was kinda rock bottom for them i m o. FFXIII was actually good for what it was and I think XV will probably be a really good time.
nigga we went from paying a quarter every 5 minutes to play, and if you were good about 15. You then went into having your own console that was just as good as arcades if not better graphics. Now arcades don't even stand even a glimmer of a chance due to the high quality of how things look with just a home console. So... fuck you.
Pic related. The final coffin in arcades. There was literally no reason to ever go back to an arcade again after the ps2 came out.
Honeymoon can wait; we'll mourn Bowie and Lemmy.
If my mom can go with us your addict brother won't enter our house.
That's what adhd generation wants to believe.
It is a lie.
Shut up, don't be a crybaby. You were able to enjoy the golden age since it was internet free.
>Good hardware consoles.
>Uses a ps2 as example.
ummm... for its time it was the strongest piece of hardware out there when it first came out. PS2 is literally way stronger than the dreamcast and any other system that was released out at the time of release in March 4th, 2000. Of course later generations the Xbox and gamecube came out, but the Xbox was much later and gamecube wasn't as strong.
Dude, that game was amazing. You're out of your fucking gourd.
>used a smarter turn-based system that allowed planning
>had a wide variety of different characters with different strengths and weaknesses
>allowed you to compensate for weaknesses/customize characters however you fucking liked through Sphere Grid
>pretty epic story
>graphics were groundbreaking at the time
You're as faggy as OP.
>Being called out as a retard.
Well, I've been proved wrong i guess.
You know a lot of games were getting over hyped out the ass a few years ago and a lot of them have had normie reevaluations where they realized the shit wasn't as good as they thought initially like Skyrim anbd the biocuck games, but this shit is still considered one of the greatest games of all time still.
xbox had debatably better hardware than the ps2. However the first xbox did have a lot of issues concerning it was too close to the way regular PCs were developed. The use of a hard drive over a flash-memory chip was a big risky move by Microsoft. Initially Xbox sales suffered quite a bit for a long time because of the glitches.
Pic related. Shit was real.
But the xbox didn't come out much later, once again stating that the ps2 had the best hardware ever on consoles at the time.
No, it straight out was superior on almost every front
Also, the xbox did support memory cards. They went in the controller. This wasn't some later thing either. It was at launch supported
You say it has depth, show me. Clearly I did not see it. That's easy to do with some games. Games like DMC have combat with a lot of depth but the average person won't explore it. Show me the mechanics flushed out by someone.
can you show me how the combat was bland?
>dodge in 4 directions
>all that item use
you have so many options in combat that i know i'm forgetting some things. it's not bland at all.
Wrong anon m8.
Reading the opinion coming from the type of person who pretty much tries to destroy people's fun taking games more seriously than it should is more than it deserves.
No game is perfect, doesn't make them bad unless they're actually bad. Learn to differentiate between normies and people who actually cares what they play.
>No, it straight out was superior on almost every front
When will Xbox fanboys ever learn?
Woah woah let's just slow down for a second. I'm not going to try to convince you to like it, but do you really think it's overrated? Do you really think Demon's Souls has legions of fans? Just go to Twitch and compare streams from the last four FromSoft games, andtell me Demon's Souls is OVERrated. Unless you REALLY didn't like it, then I just disagree with you.
Look at these on xbox compared to PS2
I could go on. Also look at the resolutions and framerates these output at compared to the other
>a lazy port by EA of all companies
>proof the ps2 is more powerful than the xbox
I liked most everything just fine, would be 8/10 if it weren't for the absolute worst characters. Although who can hate Lulu and Auron? The game is based around characters and their personalities, and they just fell so flat.
This, i guess /v/'s critique is the most valid.
>/v is never wrong
Yes, because the people that drool over Ocarina of Turd don't prop it up against other games that came out after it.
Also, Metal Gear Solid came out two months before Ocarina of Time. A game with baller as fuck boss fights, and all story stuff can be skipped. Ocarina of Autism has more forced story shit than MGS.
Go fuck your alien Egoraptor you're not fooling anybody today.
>Not Dawn of Sorrow
SHIGGY DIGGY DOO
MGS1 also played exactly like the MSX titles, where as OoT reinvented a whole genre. I'd also consider someone who can't handle a few cutscenes to be the autistic (or at least ADHD afflicted) one here.
MGS1 literally played like the MSX titles, the same camera angle and everything. The radar was added so they could open the game up a bit and avoid the nonscrolling screens from the MG1 and 2, while also being fair to the player.
>guy on /v/ jealous of successful man's girlfriend
What genre did OoT reinvent? Linear dungeon crawling with shitty puzzles and items that have recycled use over the entire game?
I also said nothing about MGS1 influencing anything. Its the better action game by far though.
Ok first things first. I'll admit up front modern FPS are not a genre I generally care for. Secondly I don't think this game is godawful or anything like that. It's generally good at what it does and it seems to be as good as other generic military shooters I have played.
That being said I really don 't get the hype. I tried this and a few of the other "only good ones in the series" according to most people a few months back and it just really seems to be average or just functional in every regard I can think to rate it by. Also the multi in Every CoD I tried is just plain fucking dismal and seems designed to fail from the start. MW2 is the one people always say is the best and one of the greatest shooters of all time and I really just don't get why.
It reinvented the 3D action game genre alone by adding the Z-targeting system.
>Its the better action game by far though.
Am I reading this wrong? You aren't saying MGS1 is a good action game right?
Sounds like you never played MG2, and never played MGS1 on harder difficulties. That isn't surprising though, 3D Zelda fans value made for baby game design above all else.
Going back to the Metal Gear discussion, having the same perspective doesn't mean much if the feel of gameplay is entirely different. MGS1 feels much smoother and responsive, and the inclusion of first person means scouting guards and seeing their patrol route. Something essential if you don't play just on normal or easy.
MGS1 stealth is easy as fuck once you remember guard routes. And unlike Metal Gear 2, fumbling around different areas with keycards trying to progress isn't an issue.
Once you know your shit, MGS1 becomes a boss rush game with the coolest boss designs, both visually and in a gameplay sense.
Metal Gear 2 had niggers named Shotgun Man or Shot Man, boss fights were cheap and the bosses themselves were jokes when it came to story shit.
The sneaking amounts to remembering guard routes and running past everything. If you don't suck ass at the game and put time into it, you should reach each boss in ten minutes or less for each boss.
Making most of the game about fighting bosses. Are you saying MGS1 has bad boss fights?
Fallout: New Vegas
>store-brand copycat enemies ("junkies" instead of raiders, etc)
>inb4 "you don't need to fight to complete the quests!" graphic which essentially means a bunch of boring dialoguefests that are a pain to get through
>god awful unmemorable final battle
>zero replay value
this thread isn't over until we put it into MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE
Check out half life 2 on the xbox and then on th.. wait.
Not playing xbox that generation because you are a fanboy fuck is no excuse to debate reality, xbox had better hardware.
Also not playing ninja gaiden r u nuts senpai
if you dont like it
but theyre not overrated just because you dont like them
they are rated pretty much exactly where they should be, objectively.
this fucking place sucks and this thread sucks
