In all seriousness when will the COD series (MW and up) be considered nostalgia around here?
I remember differently. PS3 has no games was obviously all the rage but Halo has always been hated until the past few years when its popularity has died down in the mainstream. Having a CoD thread used to be literally impossible because people would derail them with digits.
>It's a "People think Nostalgia is childhood stuff" thread
I'm 22 and I just nostalgia'ed pretty hard at the thought of cod4. I was 13 (apparently) when it came out and I'm not friends with any of the same people. I was an ugly teenager and now I'm an ugly college student, basically life is completely different, a full revolution of the wheel if you will.
Basically yes, it is already time to nostalgia.
i wouldn't say it started with MW2, but it was definitely the last CoD game you could have real threads about here.
>the last CoD game you could have real threads about here.
Heck, I remember even Blops 1 being somewhat discussed here for a while when it was first released. I never saw it happen after another one was released though.
You're right, they've given up with reskinning their own games, this last one they decided to ride someone else's success because their own shit was faultering so they reskinned Titanfall
Except they're both better than Titanfall. Also pretty sure AW was in development before Titanfall was announced. If not, they still certainly didn't have time to change the game to be futuristic and scrap the old game they must have been working on.
>I will never be 14 again, quickscoping and trickshotting with my clan as we try to get clips to make it big on youtube
>Call of duty will never be back in its simple but great glory days
You shitters killed cod. You shitters kept bitching and bitching about "Le same game every year XD", until they finally listened to you, and ruined the perfect formula, and now they're adding shitty jetpacks, trying to please the minority of faggots who don't even play anyway.
Fuck I'm sad.
There was a thread a few days ago about classic Youtube videos from the mid 2000s. Everyone was circlejerking over shit like Supermario 64 bloopers and old Halo Machinima videos.
As time goes on you look back at shit more fondly even if it was looked down on before
It already is nostalgia.
Look around you. How many faggots here don't recall the Omaha beach, Hill 400 in CoD2 and Tirpitz mission in the first CoD game?
CoD games made for PC were superb.
Is this bait?
>World at War ended WWII
>WWI is literally never gonna happen
What the fuck anon.
This, back then I had easy high school life and in those following 7 years I've gone through university and entered the job life. Even though it may not initially seem like that. 7 years is actually quite an long time.
I remember being underwhelmed by WaW.
Infinity Ward is the only one that I'd trust with a WW2 CoD game. Hell, mad props if they have the balls to do the lolwut China theater (yes, Nationalist chinks)
Might as well deal with the elephant in the room here: did you guys like Black Ops 3?
I enjoyed it, but it's not for everyone.
Nigger you what?
>Underwhelmed by WaW
>It is literally the best game Treyarch ever made
>WWII ended in WaW.
There is literally no more story for them to make a WaW 2 out of without spinning some shit out of their ass about some secret unit that literally never existed.
Not to mention
>IW does not fucking have the OK to make a WaW game.
I am dead serious. You compare Treyarch's WaW with the previous WW2 CoD by IF, and it's clear that the whole regenerative health bar and quicktime event ahoy cheapens the experience significantly.
I thought it was okay, still has the same bullshit latency issues every other cod mp has had and the campaign was pretty underwhelming. I'll probably pick it back up to play the new zombies maps once they come out, but not before then.
It was good enough. I grinded dark matter out fairly quickly. I can't say as I enjoyed myself as much as I used to though. I don't even have the "muh childhood excuse." Hell COD2 came out my senior year of high school. Honestly the problem with newer CODs is like 3 things to me.
They try to hard to make things "fair and balanced" which fucking sucks. I don't want shitty killstreaks. Killstreaks are half the fucking point of the game. Now they have specialists. I have multiple games where the only thing kills me are war machines or tempest chain kills onto me as I run by. The specialists are not replacements for good killstreaks. Why the fuck do I have to get an 18 kill streak for a shittier version of an AC-130 that people can just explode the fuck out of with launchers that have 4 backup shots.
Competitive maps. I'm not fucking playing CoD for competition. I play CoD when I want to take a break from CS. These three lane maps are so dull because if you played one of them you played 90% of them. Every single map is a chokepoint fest with a big center area for people to run out, get a kill, then die. Then you have the "flank route" which is just another shitty lane that doesn't actually allow you to flank since the route goes DIRECTLY into the enemy spawn so it flips. Fuck that. Give me old maps that are wide open. Hell the most linear MW2 map was Afghan and even that was just a series of open areas that formed a giant circle with a tunnel in the middle.
Lastly the last one can't be helped, but half the fun of the game was playing with my friends. I used to struggle to have less than 6 players and we would have to go "sorry but we have 7 see ya later Eric." but now I'm lucky if I see a friend online playing a fucking game once a week. I see 9 of my IRL friends online but it's always fucking Netflix and Twitch and Hulu. Everyone is "muh kids" and "muh wife" now which to be fair we are 30 but holy shit so am I and I make it work.
That's just not true though. I don't defend much in CoD games but the baseline delay was less than half of BO2's. The game from a mechanical "point the gun and shoot" standpoint is great compared to AW and BO2. Funny enough Ghosts actually had the single best hit detection and netcode of any CoD ever(including MW and MW2) but people hated it because the guns suddenly "killed too fast" even though they were the same fucking time to kills as always, just had better netcode. Ghosts just suffered from having 6 people in the world playing at any time so you just had actual lag out the ass.
I just went back and replayed the series up to MW3 recently. They're not bad but MW3 was definitely the mark of the series' imminent death-by-retardation. It completely lost all tension at what should have been the series' most tense point. Getting to summon A-10s to rain BRRRRRRT upon your enemies was the only good thing about it.
Can't comment on the multiplayer because I never even both with it, but I assume that that's what everyone's real problems with the game are- cancerous underaged fanbase, killstreaks, etc. But the Singleplayer was still alright.
as much as CoD gets shit on, MW and MW2 were fun as fuck. MW2 is definitely my favorite though
intervention, aa-12, slight of hand pro, stopping power pro and commando pro
tfw you get your first nuke
I know the feeling nostalgia and I feel nostalgic about shit that happened less than a year ago.
You would sound dumb saying "Man i'm so nostalgic about Undertale" but you are not wrong.
Quickscoping was the only fun thing in CoD.
They really separated the men from the boys this time by removing aim assist. It's not even an option, because you have 3 shot kill AR's, which do have Aim Assist, which will demolish you before you can even look at them, let alone scope in. Sniping is not an option in this game.
>Inb5 git gud
No. I was good and they fucked it all. They fucked it all.
I never got the appeal of quickscoping. It always seemed really stupid and a good way to get stopped one short of a killstreak.
>Sniping is not an option in this game
I like the sniping in BO3. It's not great, but it's perfectly usable.
I know quickscoping gets quite a bit of hate but is there a single game that did it as well as MW2?
>Dunn, Foley, and Ramirez never got to fuck shit up in Moscow
>tfw can't get dark matter because the combat knife refuses to count the "stab a guy with the combat knife then pick up his gun and kill him with it" towards the challenge
I still have a couple smg's to finish (high caliber makes the assault rifles an absolute breeze to get through) but the fact that I'm getting the backfire medals and they still won't count has killed my motivation to finish them.
That was true until their server's got fucked a week ago. I wasn't having much trouble until then, but now I've got a minimum 100+ ping no matter what I'm playing on there. All the other games on my comp are fine with few issues (I've got a 60 mpbs internet connection) but bo3 has given me nothing but trouble.
Also, I just realized that you misinterpreted my first post. I meant "every other" call of duty as in skipping a few. ghost admittedly had pretty decent netcode, but the spawn system was shitty and I didn't enjoy extinction mode that much so I ended up skipping it anyways. mp is fun for a bit but the survival mode is always where I log the most hours.
I don't mind no aim assist but sniping is a joke in this game. Considering good sniping is all about positioning, and the spawn flipping every thirty seconds, it's hard to maintain an advantage when you're going to have three guys coming for your ass at any time. And then they make sniper rifles like the p-06 (finishing the challenges for this weapon was an absolute nightmare and I'm glad it's over). Having a delay to fire when you're already at a disadvantage is just bullshit.
You can't be serious, it's easily outclassed by the other three weapons in it's category. SVG and locus both top it instantly by being able to immediately fire, making it much easier to kill people on reaction and pick people off, and the drakon has the advantage of being able to spam it somewhat accurately so you can be more lenient with your aim and still roast people. It also makes for a very good counter to the other snipers as it's much easier to challenge them from the great distances since most sniper's will stop peeking once they get fired at until they think they're safe. p-06 is just going to get you killed by people who aren't morons and take two seconds to get their sights on you. Not sure what advantages you get by choosing the p-06, I can't recall any aside from a decent default scope that discarded in exchange for the ridiculously good elo sight. How exactly is the p-06 godlike?
I have been playing since June. Jtagers seem to be rare. I was accused of having a redbox some constant uav or something. The real problem is jitter shotguns and people using shotguns 90% of the time. Jitters really ruin search especially. There's always gamebattles if you're good enough. I feel like a old man now I just can't play how I did when I was 18 19 in 2009-2010
>Mw2 is the last game that it's ok to like.
MW2 is probably the most cancerous of them all because of all the trash it introduced, like death streaks and p2p on PC.
If you like MW2, you are the problem.
All Treyarch games are subpar.
WaW is rather bad and 3 is attrocious.
my bad I meant to type bc2, I don't remember using it much on bf2 because it was so slow (and you couldn't change the scope iirc)
I don't remember what they called it in later games but I really hated that they removed the ability to basically freely swap out parts on guns and locked it to a small selection per
A bullet to the head will still get you a date with your maker
who else here has never played call of duty
