Changing move-sets in keyboard is a bit fiddy (ctrl/alt) but can be changed, having backspace as accept in menus is dumb and climbing beasts is a bit weird at first, but you get used to it.
Otherwise works perfectly.
higher refresh rate doesn't apply if it's not set same as desktop
and dof in some cutscenes still present even if you disable it - it is ugly as sin
and godrays add stupid glow to everything i do not know what option it is and can't be bothered to check it everytime in main menu it takes ages
>no support for resolutions besides 16:9
Why are the Japanese so incompetent
You can play it on a PC with intel 4000, get 24 FPS at console resolution and full low, a bit more at 800x600.
Meaning it must run pretty nicely on a decent PC.
The port is really impressive, I'm on an Ivy bridge and a 670gtx and I can run it maxed on 1080p with constant 60fps, it does dip a few frames occasionally on the outside of gran soren
It might be because I'm running in SLI config but it seems to stutter a bit.
Lowering resolution to 1080p didn't alleviate it, so I don't believe it's an issue of inadequate performance.
DD was made to run on hardware that is nearly a decade old, of course fucking toasters will run it, PCs off the shelf will run anything that was on 360, PS3 these days, its not some exclusive club anymore to own a PC that plays games. Pull your head out of your ass.
And their AI training. Their Arisen could have trained them to do certain things in battle. Pawns are kinda like Amiibos for Smash 4 you can train them to do certain things in certain situations.
If you are both the same class and you do something a lot like use a certain attack/skill a lot they will tend to use that attack/skill a lot too. If you are any class and you pick up or climb enemies and pick up items, Pawns will tend to do these things. It gets so bad that you Mage Pawns climbing Chimeras and Cyclops when they should stay away casting magic, luckily you can tweak their behaviors so they dont do climbing as often.
For example, use throwblasts against large monsters to stun them, and if your pawn has them they'll do it too. Chuck exploding barrels at enemies or pick up enemies and throw them over ledges, your pawns will also do it.
It's pretty good.
The gameplay with keyboard and mouse is pretty decent, a gamepad isn't mandatory
Performance are perfect
Game's a lot of fun.
The only thing I noticed is a huge ressource and temperature spike when changing level.
Not sure from what it's due but as far as I'm concerned no malware was put into the leak.
it's not just the japanese, every fucking ubisoft game and there's no support for my 1920x1200 and often there's no fix, hell I'm playing dark souls 2 right now and there's no way to play at max res without using a fix that risks you getting VAC-banned. It's ridiculous really, should just get a x1080 monitor instead
Been a while since I played it, but I want to say it's a currency separate from gold.
And keep in mind that there's a cap on the maximum level a "rented" pawn can be, so don't expect to go snagging a level 300 pawn at level 2.
Only way I got through the everfall the first time without a mage pawn. Started tossing the U dead over the ledge, eventually all of the pawns were doing it. The ones that survived the fall started to shamble back up only had a sliver of health.
You use a currency called Rift Crystals that you get from having your Pawn rented or doing in game quests and other stuff. Pawns that are on your level or below your level cost zero Rift Crystals. Pawns that are owned by people on your friend list are FREE to hire no matter how high their level is.
Port runs just fine fampai
Getting 100+ FPS on a old Phenom II and Radeon 7870
The game supports every aspect ratio that isn't retarded. Even your shitty aspect ratio. It just uses a letterbox effect for it like the vast fucking majority of modern games.
I bet you've played a dozen games in 2015 that had a letterbox effect and you didn't even notice.
Can I apply a crack to my steam pre-load? I wanna try it out and I'm too lazy to d/l the ps3 demo
>game cracked several days before release
>devs dont release it early to combat piratefags
Will anyone even buy this game? I've had friends canceling their preorders after putting in a few hours into the pirated version.
1600x900 is my native resolution, but I can downsample to 1920x1080 or 2560x1440 if I want to.
Not that I'm surprised, the game's not actually a looker.
The thing that I do find kind of surprising is the CPU usage.
Expansive views can make usage on my 4790 hit 70%+, and can cause framerate dips into the mid-50s.
Of course max settings, maybe your PC is fucked.
This. Unless you can find some way to spoof your Steam ID information into the save, which is probably encrypted with some fuck awful obscure file format, you will have to start over when you start playing your Steam version.
On my secondary 1440x900 monitor dsr lets me downsample to all kinds of fucked up shit, its pretty hilarious but it doesn't work well.
Not only that but games actually run worse than on my main 1080p believe it or not.
Probably, unless you have a really bad GPU.
As someone who never played the original, what's the closest I can get to being a dude in shining armor with a sword and shield, paladin-esque?
A friend told me 'mystic knight' or something, is it any good?
Trying to make a /ss/ main protag to eventually get accompanied by a group of loli/amazoness pawns, how's he looking?
Really the UI in general is just way too big for PC
It likes to drop to around 40-30FPS on a FX 6300 and R9 270
It only happens in certain areas like the starting fishing village exit when looking out towards the sea, looking a certain direction outside Gran Soren and on some quests like the hydra head transport one.
Also lowering the graphics to the minimum from max only gives me around a 15-20fps boost
I'm not sure where that is since I'm still starting out. But my framerate never dips below 60 when I have v-sync on. Without it, I get bad screen tearing from how high the framerate is.
It's no surprise the game runs well when it looks like absolute dog shit on max settings, it's definitely a console port.
Depends on where you dowload it from m8, often times its not the group releasing it that want to fuck you but the re-uploader, granted these russian/china repacks aren't the most trustworthy, but most of the time they are clean
There are plenty console games that ended up working better with kb+m, at least for me, controllers are just inherently flawed for a majority of applications, hence having to claw or other retarded shite
And dont even get me started on shit like the old splinter cells, where the mouse wheel was just on a whole new level of superiority
>tfw upgraded from 1680x1050 to 1920x1080
It doesn't help that your brightness is set too high. I know it's annoying, but night time is supposed to be oppressively dark.
Doing this makes day time have slightly better contrast, which helps mask some of the ugly. There's probably a reshade/sweetFX for this to help, I haven't looked into it.
My Arisen. Opinions please.
No Pawn yet.
It's an action rpg set in, at a face value, the most vanilla Western Fantasy world you can imagine. It takes a little while to get going.
Whether or not it nets you 100+ hours or not depends on if it really clicks with you. Fuck I've probably dropped well over 1k hours.
>not minmaxing and playing solo as assassin
It's hard as fuck this way, and really enjoyable. I wish there was a better way to get rid of your pawn than having to throw them off a cliff though.
He probably has a smallish SSD and a larger HDD and dedicates SSD space to games that benefit from being on the SSD. Lots of games run so well and load so fast even from a 7200 RPM HDD that it's silly to waste SSD space on them unless you have several large SSDs.
No idea but here https://thepiratebay.se/torrent/13186530/Dragons_Dogma_Dark_Arisen_RePack_by_SEYTER
mercs is legit, you can read the comments on all of his other torrents if you dont trust him
Why is magic so shit? Does it get better? Right now I've got that fire spell, the ice one and the lightning one, and they all seem about as effective as pissing on a wolf's face.
And I actually picked Mage.
1080p/60fps maxed on a 750ti.
>Does it get better?
Switch to Sorcerer ASAP.
So I heard that changing vocations often is good, right?
I usually role mystic knight but I remember doing low damage with magic shit, so therefore it would be good to fuck around in game and shit for a few levels or what?
Mage is a support class. It's literally only here to heal and buff, and some people don't even need them.
Go to sorcerer and get some of the real stuff.
Mystic Knight uses both the Strength and the Magic Attack stats.
You could play both Assassin and Sorcerer for a couple of levels, maybe throw in a Warrior for Clout, or you could just wait until you get better equipment
I prefer to have a pre-determined role in my head when I play. Depending on your class, you reap certain benefits when you level up. So for example if you were a mage, when you level up you gain +2 magic attack, whereas if you level up as a warrior, you gain +1 magic attack.
I don't have the numbers at hand, but that's the way it is.
Levelling up a Warrior up to level 30 then switching straight to a Magick Archer can put you at a disadvantage
>don't have to work till friday
>want to download the leak off of bcg
>don't want the saves to be incompatible with the steam version
No, don't just pick classes randomly.
If you're going to use your sword/mace a lot as a MK, bump strength.
If you're going to use Great Cannon as you should, play sorcerer as much as possible. Well, not that much, you should have between 500-750 mgk. You could pick MK once you feel you have enough, or play Assassin or whatever to get some atk.
For example you could go Strider 10 > Sorcerer 50, MK 100 > whatever you're lacking until 200 and then replay MK. That way you get to enjoy MK while playing the game, and don't end up with a shitty build in the end.
>not realizing that "builds" are an afterthought
>not realizing Great Cannon uses Strength too
Get the fuck out of here, not only are you spreading bad advice, but what you're saying is not even true.
No, it's the Dark Souls of fantasy RPGs.
What else am I gonna use you smug bastard? Do you know how rare and expensive a decent 16:10 is nowadays? Or are you talking about ultrawide which is literally intended to be a secondary monitor and if you have that as your main I pity you son
Does the Magick Archer's attack scale with magic or attack? I guess it's an obvious answer but shit dude you're firing arrows infused with magic it can go either way
Great Cannon uses more mgk than str, so yes you should play sorcerer to have more.
It's not like you need to plan for 200 levels what you need to play MK, it's a balanced class that gets balanced stats, but having more mgk definitely helps for burst damage. I don't see how that's bad advice.
>people actually use the most widely supported resolution
Obviously, you shit.
Because you're telling the guy to use less classes, that's bad advise
Because you're telling the guy to min-max for a 15% increase in magic attack and neglect the 40% damage boost he'd get from strength due to the nature of the Grand Cannon
Because you do not ever need to min-max, and you're telling the guy to do that
Just stop posting dude.
>no "smt iv the dark souls of persona"
WHAT CLASS SHOULD I PLAY FOR A FIRST PLAYTHROUGH
I hope you guys bought the game
>is it worth it?
It's much more rewarding than normal. Yeah, you get your ass wrecked a lot more, but it's more fun for me when a game is challenging.
Also, you get more gold from drops in hard, which aids in getting good gear sooner.
I'm starting to think this whole bitcoin miners is just a meme trying to get forced by virals. I mean, what better way to prevent people from downloading your game than making people think it has a virus/malware?
What the fuck man, just because you level as a sorcerer for a bit doesn't mean you won't get any strength boosts by level 100, are you retarded? Do you even know what you're talking about? As long as the split is 40%/60%, you should always have more mgk than str, that's basic math.
If you're going to complain about overpowered skills while lauding brain splitter, then I can't take you seriously as that is one of the most overpowered skills in the entire game.
>unironically shitting on people for the aspect ratio of their monitor.
That being said I get that I'm in the minority with my 1920x1200 and personally don't mind letterboxing. The only real inconvenience so far has been finding wallpapers.
Your account is saved for server/pawn verification. Essentially it's protection to stop you from giving your pawns to other players and duplicating items and such.
The games mostly offline, but the online parts of it do have some protection against cheating.
The first thing you should have done is rebind keys in a Japanese game. You can rebind pretty much everything, but the intital binds arent great because Japanese dont make PC games much.
It's not complex, but the servers will reject you if you try to upload pawns not belonging to you, if your pawns have obviously hacked stats or access to things that shouldn't be possible (like a Fighter pawn having a bow equipped and bow skills).
Just decided to download after I found out I won't have enough expendable income to buy it this Friday. Shit runs flawlessly.
Also some spells charge pretty fast, weaker ones but it's not as stationary as it may seem from these webbums. You'll have to charge a while to use the strongest spells but it's worth it if you manage to pull it off. You get skills to reduce the casting time anyway
Yeah man I've played the game but never as a mage, it just seems like something you make your pawn because the gameplay style is so passive. You could have shredded that wolf about ten times within the timespan it took to cast the tornado. Though I guess normally you would just shoot them with those fireballs and save the big spells for certain encounters
You know, people have to devote entire machines to bitcoin mining. Download the fucking thing and see if you can still do shit without it slowing your machine to a crawl.
I can tell you right now, I have the Seyter release by mercs on kickass and it's perfectly fine. Guys like that aren't going to release spiked shit since it'll kill their reputation. Aside from that, spiked torrents are usually deleted pretty quick when they're popular like Dragon's Dogma.
TL;DR just fucking download it if you want it. Worst thing that happens is you have to delete it because it slows your shit down. I don't know when /v/ became full of such goddamn fuckbois man.
That's a shame. Going purely by that screenshot I genuinely think the game looked more pleasant on my TV, even if it was low res and blurry. Or maybe it was because of that, because it hid the rough edges. The foliage just looks really weird in that shot. At least the framerate is three times as high though
I actually kinda agree, 1080p makes the game look way too "clean" and just exposes the shitty textures. I set the game to 900p but then I got jaggies out the ass unfortunately
my only issue is, I am not digging this gross ass glowing over every fucking thing
In battles, I can't see shit because of my mages casting stuff, and I can't see shit in dungeons, and the lantern doesn't help for shit whatsoever
Brightness doesn't help, the light ruins everything, the sun doesn't light shit up, even the shade caused by trees makes everything fucked
What's the fucking deal
>tfw you could buy this game for 13 gbp on funstock digital but the offer ended a few hours later
Holy shit, I just started it up. The graphics is ultra garbage tier. I mean it's a last gen game but why does it look so shitty?
>mfw console tards are content with playing games that look like that
I never fucking knew the difference between master race and console shit would be THIS bad
Anyway to fix the color issues? Looks like it's only 16-bit color mode sometimes.
Nope, but my 750ti is overclocked too.
you might want to go back to reddit friend.
you cant get upvotes for your "dank memes" here, literally no one cares about your comment.
this board is for adults, grown ups. come back when you have matured a bit, alright?
Turn the brightness down? Looks like you've got it maxed.
Picture related is what the game normally looks like at night time.
>my face when someone near me care more about graphix than gameplay
Modern /v/ is terrible
You can use a proxy and buy it for 22$ on gmg with the 25% code
Just clear your browser completely, get an american IP or whatever else uses US dollars on GMG (I used jap), create an account, confirm it, log off, log in without proxy, confirm it again and ta-da, you have a GMG account in US dorraru that you can use whenever
although the risk is there but GMG is just perfectly in the middle of legit and shady so I doubt they give a fuck, however their TOS does warn against proxies, but since you actually place the order without one it should be OK
Wait, so I can't refund this game? Or is it only if I play the music?
WILL I BE ABLE TO USE MY SAVE GAME IN THE LEGIT VERSION??
I DID EVERYTHING I COULD BEFORE ESCORTING THE HYDRA HEAD BECAUSE I SAID TO MYSELF THIS IS WHERE I STOP JUST IN CASE I NEED TO REDO EVERYTHING, BUT IT'S SO MUCH FUN, I JUST WANNA KEEP PLAYING. SEND HELP!!
Forgot my image
The glowing on the characters lanters/enchanted weapons bleeds over everything and I can't see shit ahead of me, and I have to move the camera to barely make out enemies ahead
It's even worse turning off the lantern/ lights because then it's just 0% visibility
That's my only complaint, loving the game so far
>5 seconds after release
I've got it set to the middle.
I do get what you're saying about daytime, and it's pronounced on PC. The sun has horrendous bloom but the world is still pretty dim with high contrast. PC is worsened because objects can cast shadows on themselves now, so everything looks really dark even in well lit areas.
You can mitigate this by upping brightness, but then everything is washed out horribly and the dark, oppressive night is wasted.
I don't know about this game in particular, but Valve doesn't actually have to allow people to refund games, they just do it for good pr or some shit. I doubt they won't refund you this game if you ask them to
>mfw after getting blue balled by the mediocre gameplay and greatswords in demon's and dark souls I finally get a game with greatswords
Its time, preload ready, hype at the fullest
So I just booted it up and camera keeps spinning. I tried unplugging controller and playing without it but it still spinning. Anyone can help me out?
Assassin gets one point more strength and more stamina. Warrior gets double the HP. But really minmaxing is totally pointless because the difficulty flatlines by level 50 anyway until you go to BBI
Also if you check, that waiver appears for every game. It's the default waiver that you have to put in when selling digital content in the EU, to inform the customer that he doesn't actually have a right of withdrawal for digital content
So, if you fellas are done circlejerking about platform superiority and the god damn graphics:
How does the game CONTROL? How are the mouse and keyboard controls, mouse support in the menu, U.I. and stuff like that. You know, the things that actually matter?
By the way, 390 posts in and I'm only the second person actually asking about how is a port other than graphics vise. Seriously.
What I want to know is how the fuck to undo your character name in the character creation menu.
I select the name plate, and hitting backspace closes the fucking menu. I've tried several different buttons, and now the name is an awful clusterfuck, and I can't fucking backspace or start over. What the fuck do I do?
>redpill for this game please
After about three hours on Warrior you'll realize moving around super slowly for the occasional one hit kill is not worth it and you'll switch to a more fun class Also, the ending is much more sad and makes more sense if you make your pawn a mentor or friend instead of a loli waifu.
I read that minmaxing isn't necessary since the game is very forgiving with builds.
But the fact that it exists teases my autism so I need to do it.
So I should go 1-10 Fighter, then Warrior until 100?
If you want to play something else. If you're enjoying strider keep playing strider. What rank are you? Playing other classes can be useful in the way that you unlock more passive skills that you can carry over to certain other classes
The difference is huge to me, thanks anon.
Well what do you know. It does work. Thanks anon.
Seriously, what the fuck were they thinking with these menu controls?
KB+M controls are fine.
Mouse is responsive albeit not 100% smooth, keyboard layout allows for quick combat, and the general movement translates well (aside from the annoying sprinting issue where it seems to emulate the turn of a joystick, ala TW3).
My only personal issue is the fact that menu navigation is mediocre since you can't use the scroll wheel.
But you can navigate just fine with WASD+E or M1.
You fucked up by planning. Are you going to play mystic knight then switch classes just before you level up? Or are you going to play those other classes and settle on mystic knight once you're level 200?
So KB+M is perfectly viable? Because I loathe controllers for these types of games, and would rather not use my 360 controller.
I'm not going any melee class until someone mods in the GATSU armor again.
I need full control. It was fine back in the PS1 days, but nowadays I can't return to the slow and imprecise controller. It's still alright for casual flight/car sims, sports and fighting games though.
>want to play now
>don't want to get fucked and have to start all over when steam release hits
>This happens near the start of the game
I loved it instantly
I'm talking about the holder of the license, they'll obviously want Capcom to pay for the license, Capcom won't pay, and there's no way they'll give the license to Capcom for free.
>Rook: No... No!
This game is funny as fuck sometimes.
Is such a thing even possible, I was thinking of trying out how it runs on my thinkpad but I wasn't expecting very good results
people aready changed the title song
rumors that the same people that made mods from RE6 used the same tools on the game and it worked
the GUTS armor is still on the files, just turned off
>there are people on /v/ RIGHT NOW falling for the great port meme
i can run MGS5 1080p 60fps on High/Ultra but i can't run this 6 year old game on high 1080p with stable 60fps
i can't believe how they could fuck up an MT framework game, but they did
I forgot to mention you should definitely rebind some keys to your liking though. Why they made alt default for secondary skillset is silly. Why anyone would use alt for an action/battle function in any WASD game seems silly to me.
You'll have no stamina, that's why you should start as a strider and then assassin for a bit, then switch to warrior.
You'll also be lacking in magic defense so the post game might be a bit harder.
It's amazing. It's basically an patched version of the last Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen. It's buttery smooth, Kb+M controls are amazing and include 4 hotkeys to be set on items you use. But if you're not sure that you want to use a Kb+M you can just plug in your DS4 or Xbox controller and switch to that flawlessly. I really love this port and I can't wait for it's actual release on friday so I can play with other people's Pawns.
>the GUTS armor is still on the files, just turned off
Holy shit, if this is true then I am turning off auto-updating for the game.
Well I'm not talking about shit like that obviously, that's barely a mod, more like changing some lines in a txt file to change shit. Now people were asking for mods to add more skills, weapons, etc. and that's not going to happen.
for me it's the other way. I played strider/assasin on the triple and it was mad fun but I can't see me doin the same thing again. I also played it offline due to piracy and never got to see high level sorceror skills because premade pawns don't have that shit, so this time come friday I'm gonna do a sorc/sorc combo with my pawn, it's gonna be glorious
I could be fucking crazy, but has anyone else's cursor speed become slower after playing this?
Sure, you could also try out the hybrid classes if you still want magic abilities. Mystic knight and magic archer have both physical and magic attacks and if you carry a staff with you, you can still switch to those big sorcerer attacks as well
If you wanna rob yourself of two thirds of the game, go for it. Limiting yourself to a class for minmaxing is not only pointless due to weapons covering the attack stat shortcomings, but you'll be missing out on possibly finding an even more fun class to play as.
