>Tfw still using that Steelseries headset
I mean, hey, if it works.
>at least 5 years since i joined /sci/ as my first board
>tfw even if you scrap together a LAN party in this day and age, it will never be the same as back then
>No more small scale 1.6 tourneys with your friends
>Not having that one friend so hopelessly addicted to WoW that you give him shit for playing it at a LAN party
>No more playing Dota with cool people instead of complete fags online
>No more trading porn during downtime
>No more fooling Bawls into sponsoring your tiny LAN by lying to them and telling them you're having a bigger one
>No more fucking with the first guy who falls asleep by doing some borderline gay shit
Just fucking pull the trigger man.
Oh fuck my old netcafe
Netlanscarried that shit.
Was breddy good.
>30 computers all with CS:S, HL1 mods, BF1942 and 2.
>Halloween and New Year's All-nighters.
I went there about three years ago and they had devolved into basically a day-care center.
>Kids spilling drinks, being loud, not even using the computers.
They shut down about two years ago after the owner sold the store.
I put that line in there because we legit conned Bawls into sponsoring just a small 10 man event by saying it was a regional thing with more people. We had one of my friends who knew enough about html and css make a webpage to look convincing and they fell for it. They sent us a banner for our event that we called Garage LAN as well as a few cases of drinks. My buddy still has the banner somewhere.
Shit wasn't even the best tasting or more effective energy drink, but I still buy it because it's a core part of my nostalgia for that era.
Why do I still breathe after remembering this
You haven't truly experienced a LAN party unless you participated in one without internet access. No playing MMOs, no playing online against randoms, no browsing or chatting. Everyone were forced to interact with each other and it was great.
FUCK THAT SHIT NIGGA
LAN parties are still fun as fuck
Fucking around with your best friends in
>Jedi Academy (modded of course)
>And doing stupid shit
SO FUCK BEING A SAD CUNT, FUCK THAT SHIT
Me and my friends do LAN parties when we all go back home to the old town for christmas/summer and so on. Now its beer instead of energy drinks but its almost the same as the old days.
>custom Warcraft 3 maps
>World of Warcraft
NO. Not anymore. Not in years. And it never will happen again.
But other than that its all good niqa.
Right in the feels. Man this is the main reason I stopped playing these competitive games. I play just civ/EL or coffeebreak games like necrodancer lately.
I only hope that arena shooters fill the void now. I can see them getting a bigger fanbase in the near future with all these new releases but still small enough to be niche and not filled with cancer. Would be nice to have some LANs again.
>Tfw you will never get together with bros to play vanilla wow ever again
>Tfw your tank will never
thank their healeragain
Stop, you are making my 30th brithday crisis even worse
>Playing Starcraft, Unreal Tournament and CS
>Everyone huddled in a small cellar, the stale smell of sweat hanging in the air
>Those times will never come back
I'm not the guy you replied to but the problem is that people today play tournaments online only. It's cheaper for the organisers. easier for players, but there is that social element that is missing where you got together with people and played and talked. This kind of small events are very rare today. I would love to see this come back in any way, doesn't have to be the same.
