Dark Souls 2 for me anyway, The first game was possibly one of the most horrible ports in PC history, requiring initially GFWL, DSFix and couldn't run unlocked at 60 fps without breaking some of the physics like ladders.

Dark Souls 2 had none of those issues and was a lot more refined but the world and levels were just the most bland thing in the world for me.

Yeah kids get mad cause they didn't get to grow up with it like that so they point out the obvious. I know it's way worse, but my experience playing gen 1 and 2 were far superior to playing 3 and 4. Age probably has the most to do with it. Nostalgia certainly plays in. But I'm comfortable with that.

the point is that a sequel may be objectively better from a game perspective,
for example chaos theory is objectively better than splinter cell or pandora tomorrow.
the mechanics fully opened up by chaos theory, and actually made it a complete stealth game.

but that doesnt mean that someone might like the level design more of the first, or the plot or just the fact that it came first and therefore the premise wasnt as interesting to them the third time around.

how is this so hard to get.

however, that is only an example. i personally think chaos theory is the best of the first three, but splinter cell 1 is far better than the second (however the comparison between one and two is almost pointless in the context of this thread, because mechanically theres almost no difference)
