>the sequel is objectively better in almost every way
>but you prefer the first because it had more charm or love put into it
What's her name?
On that note, Darkstalkers 1. Night Warriors improves on it in just about every way, but Darkstalkers 1 has that certain atmosphere to it. The music is probably big part of that, a lot more subdued compared to the following games.
Raidou Kuzunoha VS The Soulless Army
The sequel's story was less focused and a bit more tongue-in-cheek then the first.
Best answer in this thread, I've replayed the first Animal Crossing so many times but all the other ones feel emptier and emptier with each sequel. I never played new leaf though, how does it compare to wild world that was the one I played the most.
>because it had more charm or love put into it
Replace that with "it was more original and/or had a better story and production values".
Super Mario Galaxy
Devil May Cry, The second one was shit, but the third game was objectively the best in terms of mechanics. But none of the games in the series had the foreboding gothic atmosphere of the first DMC. Probably because it was originally going to be a Resident Evil and it shows.
Definitely Super Mario Galaxy. Except I wouldn't say that 2 is objectively better at all, everyone just says it is for reasons. Super Mario Galaxy was the better overall package, Super Mario Galaxy 2 feels like an expansion pack because it felt it was above providing adequate context, presentation and atmosphere because it's le murio and le murio is only gameplay and everything else doesn't matter.
age of empires 1
Probably less to do with charm and more to do with nostalgia. It was my first rts and I'll never forget the first time I played the demo and just relaxed in the first levels where there were no enemies, watching all my little people move around.
That's because you have shit taste.
I don't expect that final boss to be topped by another Nintendo boss for many years to come. Whoever worked on this game knew what the fuck they were doing and they should really be on for every other Nintendo game out there.
Dark Souls 2 for me anyway, The first game was possibly one of the most horrible ports in PC history, requiring initially GFWL, DSFix and couldn't run unlocked at 60 fps without breaking some of the physics like ladders.
Dark Souls 2 had none of those issues and was a lot more refined but the world and levels were just the most bland thing in the world for me.
The gameplay has been refined a thousand times over and the stories get worse and worse
Bayonetta 2. The first one had little things that make it better in my book. Hidden character if you platinum all chapters. Sai fung, pillowtalk, bazillions. Less still cutscenes, hidden attacks, the perfume costumes appear in cutscenes, the last dance number.
If the first has more charm, then the sequel isn't better in every way, is it?
If the first one is better in literally every way, then by those parameters, it also has better charm, in which case OP is a faggot.
Mfw I just realized genwun is supposed to mean Gen 1. All I ever saw at /vp/ was a bunch of obnoxious gaylord spouting
Making me think Gen winners, confused as fuck for years. I genuinely thought it was one of the stupidest phrases I've ever heard. I mean, it still sounds really annoyingly stupid, but at least it makes sense now
gta 3 is the best 3d gta but i dont know why and i think its because of what you said opie
Yeah kids get mad cause they didn't get to grow up with it like that so they point out the obvious. I know it's way worse, but my experience playing gen 1 and 2 were far superior to playing 3 and 4. Age probably has the most to do with it. Nostalgia certainly plays in. But I'm comfortable with that.
>not understanding the point of the thread
also goes for that guy who posted the green shirt confused man
the point is that a sequel may be objectively better from a game perspective,
for example chaos theory is objectively better than splinter cell or pandora tomorrow.
the mechanics fully opened up by chaos theory, and actually made it a complete stealth game.
but that doesnt mean that someone might like the level design more of the first, or the plot or just the fact that it came first and therefore the premise wasnt as interesting to them the third time around.
how is this so hard to get.
however, that is only an example. i personally think chaos theory is the best of the first three, but splinter cell 1 is far better than the second (however the comparison between one and two is almost pointless in the context of this thread, because mechanically theres almost no difference)
TTYD has a lot more soul than the original PM in my opinion. Characters are much better developed, the graphical style is more fleshed out, and it feels at once more lighthearted and more serious.
Star Wars Battlefront.
While the space battles are a plus, the sequel also incorporated the heroes. I try playing SWBF2 with anyone else, and they insist on playing the Mos Eisley Heroes Only map every single time.
Objectively right answers.
>loved every single boss from NMH1
>can barely remember any of the bosses from 2
