I tried this game on PS3 and it was clunky and barren. The pawns didn't seem to be useful at all in battle and I couldn't really get into the "climb monster" mechanic.

If you look at it like that, I suppose you have a case. I see it from the angle that at least two of my fingers on each hand have to be used to hold the controller, if I want to use the XYAB (or shapes, whatever) or the D-pad, I have to take my thumb off of the stick. Mouse and keyboard lets me have more fingers for more buttons so I don't have to take stop using anything to hit something else.

It makes sense to me, sorry if my explanation is weird. And my saying that controllers are uncomfortable is just my opinion, I'm not saying they're objectively uncomfortable.
I'm just curious if the keyboard/mouse is supported adequately.

I made a Mystic Knight for a change since all my previous characters have been the Yellow classes.

I read up and found out that levelling both Sorcerer and Mage to max is pretty much essential for Magic Knight to be useful otherwise you do fuck-all damage without the Mage and Sorcer Augments. Is this true? Should I just reroll or is it actually worth levelling the other classes to max? I remember when I played assassin all the way to level 150 I didn't do any of this shit.

I'd at least level your main pawn up to like ~30 so they aren't just dead weight in any party they join, but you can ask in the general and most folks would be plenty happy to drag even the shittiest pawn through a dungeon for you, so leveling them would be more of a courtesy than a necessity.

Most anons said it but, the story is shiet tier, like, theres no story almost. You just run from 1 place to another doing what people tells you believing you have to kill a dragon and get back your heart and yadayadayada. Then suddenly the ending section of the game is.. fucking wow

Its one of the few games i truly feel like i missed out on. Also, adding to the mountain of similar questions, when it comes to trainning your pawn you basically

>Pawn takes cues from you as u both adventure
>Switch to your preferred class after a few lvls
>Pawn gets the gist if their class and behavior improves as you both adventure
