I've made a big mistake
Let's turn that frown upside down
Post cute girls doing cute things!
Don't go monster hunter on me dude I think the game is bad
Thanks for the bunny suits telethia!
Also spoiler warning!
I wished the game play got better with mechas. Control scheme is brutal. D pad to cycle so you have to stop moving, b is the back out of battle button but also used for qte during battles, doing any talking during battle which could of been mapped to gamepad is another menu you have to stop and scroll through
>no Elma bunny butt
that's f-f-f-fine the other light armors look better anyway....
>completely blew it
NLA does not represent the entirety of the game and odds are you won't even get to the rap of Black Tar for most battles, and even are likely to be focusing too much on artsing to give a shit about the rap. The rest of the soundtrack is fairly solid except for music with lyrics popping up during cutscenes.
Damn, well I'm 9 hours in and having a fantastic time so far. The environments are huge and exciting to explore; looking around in and interacting with people in NLA is comfy as hell and pretty fun, and doing missions is engaging enough when I'm in the mood for that. Why are people saying it's bad?
>tfw bunny suit and true hero
>already level 44
Wir Fliegen was okay.
MY only problem with the OST is the flying music cutting in as soon as you turn on the jump jets, instead of waiting for a certain altitude or something.
I'm challenging EVERYTHING with overdrive and keep getting ganged up on by shit several levels higher than myself while trying to find ways into areas I really shouldn't have access to until I have a skell.
Actually, I didn't like the flying music at all. I hated how it cut into the default zone themes which were way better and felt much more suited to cruising about at a few thousand feet in the air.
...I also really disliked how the music in the game looped, too. For almost all of the songs there's a very audible silence between the song stopping and starting again, and that just bugs the shit outta me. Why couldn't they loop 'em properly?
Don't get me wrong I love the game, but there are some things that really bug me.
I finished this last night, wasn't really expecting to get into it but I sunk about 80 hours and it's one of my favourite games of all time.
It has some real issues though, I see why people wouldn't like it. The whole thing feels like an offline MMO, from the quest structure to the way there's no collision detection with moveable objects to the way you can melee attack something with a whole building between you and the target.
I don't remember the last time I felt so weak and vulnerable in a videogame, they really nailed that shit.
>NLA does not represent
I think you are fine with me not greentexting half the OST. I was actually fine with the rapper on the first half of Black Tar and the production on the music was fine in general but that's the case in almost every game now.
>very simple unimaginative melodies
>seriously fuck NLA
>Cauldoros was okay
Anyway the music was only one reason I dropped this game it's not like it's all I care about but following XC? Fuck me.
It was my impression that different frames had different fuel economies and bonuses, much like classes would. Does that not lend to having some weapons over others depending on the frame?
Honestly I wouldn't mind if there were longer periods with no music. Or, god forbid, volume options.
I can do without the party's footsteps, also. They're obnoxiously loud and follow a repetitive pattern unless I start jumping over shit.
Speaking of jumping over shit, who the fuck thought it would be a good idea to make party members never jump ever, even to catch up to you?
>hear news about david bowie
>cry for a while
>decide to boot up xenoblade x to distract me
>load in and realize that i put a red ziggy startdust lightning bolt on her face
I'll join you OP, this game blows.
Unvoiced dialog everywhere
Everything cool is ruined by weeb tropes
You can walk through enemies and no vibration
Offline MMO for people without a PC
feel with me, boys.
>tfw he was my favorite musician ever
>It was my impression that different frames had different fuel economies and bonuses, much like classes would. Does that not lend to having some weapons over others depending on the frame?
fuel doesn't mean a damn thing except an inconvenience as far as i can tell
No, postgame gear is a light ultra infinite gear which drops off 68+ enemies that you upgrade the useful battle traits of to XX.
Good luck though since the potential augment table is filled with worthless shit getting all 5 parts with good augments will require you to grind the same enemy about 10,000 times until you just give up and say fuck it.
The crafted armor is worthless shit you use as fashion gear.
Am I incorrect in my understanding that light skells have lower fuel capacities but better fuel efficiency except in the case of super weapons which have static costs, while heavy skells have larger fuel capacities but shittier fuel efficiency?
Because this is my understanding as explained by another anon, that light skells suffer more from superweapon overusage over time and heavy ones suffer less?
...Or maybe the fuel efficiency had to do with flight. I can't remember the details of what he said, exactly.
>kills my team off immediately
>30 minute battle of me defensive stancing and overdriving to whiddle down her health
>at 20%health she pops an evasion buff
>can barely hit, arts are debuffed to recharge like snails piss, and her two knockdown moves keep removing all my hard earned TP
>at 5% health have no more arts and she kills me
it was probably flight if anything
weapons always have the same fuel cost except if you have those wp.fueldown augs which aren't any different or common on light skells or anything
I have perfect vision and a large television. I find that if I don't sit directly in front of it and within 3 yards that it hurts to read. I had to move furniture to accommodate this. With my furniture moved and with the shitty music going, I look like a total asshole playing this in my own living room. The font isn't so small that it's unusable but it's definitely a problem.
>finally through SHEER FUCKING DETERMINATION, A PINCH OF GRIT, A DASH OF GRACE, INGENUITY AND PERSEVERANCE, manage to scale the wall of Noctilum
>expect to see a straight shot to the red and grey area past the waterfall
>even then, looking from where I am, I'm still a level lower than that area
I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR A WAY UP FOR HOURS
DO I ABSOLUTELY REQUIRE FLYING SKELLS BEFORE I CAN SCALE THAT SHIT?
While I am disappointed in the game aswell, I don't regret buying it. It's fun to explore and I enjoy the mecha combat just because I like mechs. Overall the story and combat is far less enjoyable than the first game (and other jrpgs like this, like FF12)
What makes XCX a chore to play is not one thing, but heaps of little things that just annoy me and make the game tedious as fuck. The HUD/UI is awful and fails to present information to the player well, the game doesn't explain itself well at all, the game is far too reliant on gear and expects you to farm for augments and shit but makes finding those ingredients and enormous pain in the ass with low droprates and an enemy index that doesn't even tell you where that fucking enemy is, the online mode is awful and hurt the game and story, healing is largely reliant on rng and timed button presses which are both awful things and more problems I could list. But even with all this crap, there's still fun to be found in the game. The side quests are decent, the music is good (mostly), the world is beautiful and just making your own mech with a variety of cool weapons is fun.
I doubt I will ever play the game a second time, it's too big and tedious. Plus the story sucks.
Playing XCX made me realized that story is such a huge element to making a game good.
No point in doing a bunch of sidequests if they all consist of boring plotlines and shitty drama between boring one dimensional characters.
The biggest fucking disappointment was the lack of action scenes. XC had such badass scenes while XCX is just "Watch people stand still and talk" simulator.
> XC had such badass scenes while XCX is just "Watch people stand still and talk" simulator.
Seriously, there were two mecha combat cutscenes. I almost got hype when you go to the Lifehold Core. I was like "aw yeah, big ass mecha combat zone"
then I fought like 4 mechs and landed on the core.
>No point in doing a bunch of sidequests if they all consist of boring plotlines
The sidequests aren't even as much about the characters as they serve a purpose for world building and expanding the game's lore, though.
The game's issue is that it relegates what could be considered important information to said sidequests, and the first impression you get from them is pretty awful since early on they're really basic collect this/do that fetch quests with what seems to be derivative dialogue built on top of it.
Then again, all the side quests really had better and more interesting plot lines (even if, sometimes, some endings fell short in comparison to others) than the main story. Not that hard to do, but still...
i'm rolling over the game with loot alone gear means shit as long as you keep some alt for element bullshit. you don't need craft, sockets or even shopped item and that's the true problem
Yes, the Skell flight module is required, both for the story and for accessing certain locations.
Like, I don't think you can get to the floating island in Oblivia or into Cavernous Abyss in Sylvalum without it either.
sicne 60 is the cap for the player, but not for enemies, you have to find ways, such as those systems you listed, to make up the difference.
But before you hit the level cap, the obvious solutions of leveling characters, arts, skills, and acquiring better equipment, are a much faster and more straightforward method of raising your power level, so you just do those instead of the tedious augment crafting bullshit
As you buff yourself or teammates, or make hits against the enemy, the counter increases. As the counter increases, cooldowns quicken, attacks deal more damage, and enemies resist everything less.
There is a colour combo system in place, where you may get additional effects such as increased experience, increased appendage damage, a TP bonus, increased Overdrive time, doubled point increase you the counter for the art you use, bonus time to stay in overdrive... Gotta experiment a little to see what happens.
what's bad about that? if anything it plays like what every mmo wished it could do: no lag half action rpg where positioning isn't totally fucked by lag. side hits, back hits, elevation damage boosts actually work as intended.
you can't even make an argument for any other game. the system here is beyond anything any other jrpg/wrpg has ever done. literally if there was a balance patch for skills and weapons the game is perfect.
We had a thread earlier with a shitposters extremely dedicated at showing his complete ignorance. He got wrecked multiple time but kept coming with more and more retarded arguments. It was quite a sight.
Dunno about others, but I've got a Mastermind build. I spam green arts, specifically Repair and Smooth Recovery to get the counter to the 30-50 range. Smooth Recovery is very much dependent upon having living teammates though as the bonus has to do with how many are affected. I also use Secondary Accelerator and focus on only immediate reuse bonuses for speed.
Another strategy is to use offensive debuff arts for TP regain and recasting the Overdrive for 3000 TP.
>what's bad about that? if anything it plays like what every mmo wished it could do: no lag half action rpg where positioning isn't totally fucked by lag. side hits, back hits, elevation damage boosts actually work as intended.
This is what an offline MMO does. No lag and whatnot.
>jrpg/wrpg has ever done
In what regard? Souls combat is heavily skill based. Witcher has stronger dialogue and plot. The game has sections of fetch quests, combat is fairly hotkey-like where you just have a rotation and isn't very reactive.
Can someone tell me where the guy i need to eavesdrop on is? Is it tied to a certain time of day?
Its the mission where the xenos are picking a political candidate to represent them.
So have i anon.
I'v put so much time into this game.
My family is starting to worry about me and i just drag my wiiu to my friends house so i can play it there.
just fucking give me my drops desu baka senpai
>isn't very reactive
easiest example is using the dive to dodge big hits. almost every monster has one kill move which can be either tanked with res up, evade up, or invul. the meme builds ignore that for unresisted damage, which is fine because everyone should be able to finish the content.
but since you mentioned Souls combat i just got trolled, Souls is clearly a jrpg because it has stats and levels and inventory. you baited me fully have this upvote, next please tell me about the greatness of witcher's combat
>paid 35 dollars for an 8 hour game
I didn't regret any of the other kirby games, maybe because i was younger, didn't keep track of play times or anything like that or maybe older games were harder or had more content. Maybe coming after Kirby SSU or The Amazing Mirror is just a super tough act to follow. If nothing else, I wouldn't have fallen for the "download your games so you can play theme wherever and whenever" meme
>paid 35 dollars for an 8 hour game
That is not terrible value as long as you enjoyed it.
And yeah Kirby games arent long. Only going for 100% can increase the playtime a bit.
Games are generally fucking easy too unless its something like True Arena in Superstar Ultra.
It was always Nintendos most casual series.
I feel the same, the combat is still fun, but there is 0 drive to play. Compared to XC the setting is bland, so far all the dialogue has been exposition and I don't have an end goal or fuck. Even a goal to play at all, I'm not some massive narrativefag but when playing this game it just makes me wish I was playing a real MMO instead of it. Waste of 80 dollary doos
Don't do "basic" quests
If a quest asks for enemy drops, odds are you can buy them with tickets at the BLADE console in the barracks
If you're on the quest that wants a Spherical E.M. motor, you get one as a quest reward from Murderess' recruitment mission.
Spirit Wands can be found in Sylvalum Waters
If you're doing an "off the record" quest, then you're just SoL. better get use to going into the menu for that return to Skell option.
I probably would've still bought it, but att least one of the following would've been true:
>I wouldn't have gotten it day one
>I wouldn't have play full price
>I wouldn't have downloaded it
It gets my goat that i can pay half that for an e-shop title that will last me twice as long, but oh well
you're either shit or complaining about endgame
if you're complaining about endgame I agree, it's grindy as fuck like holy shit
if you're complaining about main story then literally git gud
Ending sucked ass.
The affinity quests were pretty decent, only played to the end because I wanted the cheats for affinity so I could actually play the other 2/3 of them, and then the cheats were shit.
Post game is nothing but grind, not killing 60 small enemies for a small drop rate so I can actually fight the 60+ tyrants, or wait 20 hours to get enough money to buy something that doesn't explode in two seconds.
The twist halfway gave me good hope for the story, and then nothing happened until space cats, you can't even get a space cat in your party.
Spent 70 hours after chapter 5 waiting for the next good bit and it never came, even the follow up Prof B mission was shit.
Mechs were cool for an hour before the combat became wait 60 seconds to kill enemies.
Thank fuck for people on eBay, if only I could buy back my time
It's not a real buyers remorse thread without an obligatory Starbound post.
are you joking witcher combat is a joke.
>you baited me fully have this upvote
The reddit meme.
>Souls is clearly a jrpg because it has stats and levels and inventory.
Its as much an RPG as Xenoblade Chronicles X is one.
>easiest example is using the dive to dodge big hits. almost every monster has one kill move which can be either tanked with res up, evade up, or invul
I know i have actually PLAYED the game, even those options aren't very reactive.
Leave your console on overnight while connected to the internet, should max out on tickets. You can buy drops but not shiny blue stuff, still have to dance in circles for that
Squad tasks. I usually get 2 per enemy on slaying tasks. You get something like 17 if others complete a task you haven't touched at all, and I've gotten up to like 27 once a task I'm pretty sure I was the sole contributor to was completed.
Some super rare items go up to over 100 points but usually they'll be something like 30-70. If you've got a few hours under your belt already then odds are that you've simply picked up some tickets from freeloading off of others.
As in they killed it, and when enough squad tasks are completed, a new global nemesis will pop up. It may be Telethia, it may be Yggralith.
Global Nemesis DOES have a persistent health bar for all squads available, and once that health bar hits zero, they die, they go away, and the process starts anew.
I dare anyone to find a game with a worse shoehorned online element
keep in mind that the story was gutted, characters were sidelined and the main character took a backseat due to its very existence
the actual main character was removed in favor of a created character that is not voiced during cutscenes and basically just stands there while elma and lin lee do 99% of the talking
Unless you think you're getting 700+ evade, no you don't need more evasion.
People use the Decoy buff to dodge attacks, not the actual evade stat, at least when fighting on foot.
You actually CAN get a skell to the 700+ evade necessary to reliably dodge superbosses
The online missions are so fucking easy and boring and none of the online elements are fun except for the nemesis bosses but those aren't really anything special.
How exactly do the interviews indicate the story would be garbage? It couldn't have been any worse than the abortion of a story that we got.
forgot the whole part about the character creation being there in order to have the whole scout console thing there
are you kidding me? all I could think about before launch was "holy fuck I can have a murder squad of me and 3 other friends in mechs? that sounds fucking awesome" and instead we got some shitty thing where you can just add their avatars to your party so they're AI controlled, which you basically can't even do until you beat the story so what's the fucking point of even having it
>It was going to focus on pre-made characters instead of avatars and was not going to have an online multiplayer element! However, when the developers were at about 50 percent in development, they decided to completely rewrite the story and remake the world as well as introduce a new setting.
eat my fucking cum you retard
>I liked the night time hub music and skell battle music
That still doesn't really change anything, Elma, Lin, Irina, Gwin, and so on all remain premade characters that show up in a story that focuses more on THEM than YOU. Adding a customizable player avatar doesn't mean you have to change the story, just relegate them to a more out-of-focus position, which is what they did mostly. By this logic, the story was changed for reasons other than the customizable player avatar. Possibly that they felt that the new setting would be a more enjoyable one? Who knows.
Furthermore, what reason have you to believe that the customizable player avatar and the online component are anything more than loosely linked? Nothing was really stopping them from letting you make a custom character for online stuff only, or taking the pre-made characters out for a spin.
You're making a huge assumption that EVERYTHING was changed for the online component alone, when in reality it's far more likely that as they were overhauling the game they decided to tack on an online component because they thought it would be neat or it fit.
you know the director guy whatever the fuck his name is wants to make an MMO right
we'll probably never actually know for sure if half of the fucking dev cycle was shit canned for the sole purpose of adding an online element, but I'd bet my fucking computer that it was a huge reason
>tfw 70 hours in
>still in chapter 7, just got my skell 5 hours ago
Fuck the Sidequest Board of Immense EXP Gain, that shit has turned me into a raging monster. The story quests involve me instant killing the big bad, and then doing laps around my team while waiting for them to finish up killing the minions.
>That Goetia fight where I got 25 laps in before Elma, Lin, and Lao managed to finish their fights
>Elma, Lin, Irina, Gwin
They are all boring as fuck. Gwin literally has no reason to exist. Why are his affinity missions required to progress the story? they are completely inconsequential and are never referenced in the main story.
Elma, Lin, Doug, Irina, and Gwin are garbage. The main cast should've been the side characters, most of whom are actually interesting. Nagi should've been required for the story missions instead of fucking Elma and Lin.
Honestly, I kind of wish he would make an MMO. That would be so great. The QTE component and secondary cooldowns really make battle a lot more involved than one might expect from average MMOs.
Same. Black Tar is my favorite battle theme, followed by Uncontrollable. I purposefully start battles with enemies to hear the skell theme.
While also training up low level teammates, having them all die, and then sitting there and tanking hits for about 10 minutes until I've gotten my fill of it
Uncontrollable is such a bizarre song to use for Tyrants. Black Tar's lyrics are at least somewhat about fighting. Uncontrollable is about a couple making up after an argument. Why the fuck would they use that
>The biggest fucking disappointment was the lack of action scenes.
probably because they actually put the action in the gameplay like other games should
>losing/winning fights in cinematics
if this shit happens more than once or twice in a game i drop that shit like it's hot
I'm a Galactic Knight, and have stayed one since I got it. Is there a point in switching classes for anything other than getting Hell Hound? I can kill enemies 20 levels over me with meh equipment and Overdrive. Starlight Rondo chunks enemies so hard that I don't feel like I need anything other than Hell Hound for the extended duration.
What was his "old one" anyway?
In fact I just looked it up assuming it might have been some kind of Samaar killer, which it is but was that explained in the game? There was that whole battle at the start between the two alien races but it seems like the Samaar (and by extension the Ganglion) were there to protect the Earth while the Ghosts wanted to destroy it? And then the Ganglion (presumably the good guys) saw the chance to finish humanity off? I don't remember the game hinting at anything like that, I always assumed the Ganglion were the ones who were there to blow the Earth up from the beginning.
>Lords of the Fallen
maybe ive played too much dark souls, but i cant stand it
Shit I do this too, especially with Uncontrollable. I'll aggro any nearby enemies once the tyrant is almost dead since it keeps playing even after you kill it if you're still in combat.
I know they aren't, which is why I'm aiming for Hell Hound. Just want to know if there's any point in not switching back to being an Ultra-Jedi after I get it. The rest of my build is pretty solid, since I can keep up my melee combo indefinitely, and Rondo + Blades deals 1/2 of any level 60 and under enemy's health.
Should I switch and get Offensive Stance? Don't I need to equip a different melee weapon to use it, or can I just use it with my Beam Sword once I hit rank 10?
>can't do the story with Nagi, Yelv and the Christophs with Murderess tagging along in her wheeled coffin
>and since neither are weapons once you hit 10 at the end of each tree, neither are arts
I never really understood how all this works, I reached level 10 with the top-right class (Duelist I think?) which I'd assumed would unlock all the longsword arts for my other classes if I had a longsword equipped but then I made an Enforcer and still only had Enforcer arts.
i like the subtle change of gameplay when you change team members and they call out different things. i wish npc had a way to change their class thoug too much psychruptors around there.
>At level 10 in a class you can use its weapons whenever as any other class
>Arts are tied to weapons.
That's what I thought but even with a longsword equipped I was limited to using my Enforcer arts. Did something just go wrong?
Best 7-man part would've been
Maybe some more xenos instead of Murderess or Elma. A good Wrothian or Ganglion or something. Or, maybe, a party consisting entirely of Xenos.
Alright, so I should finish a class that has good support-arts for guns, and then go Drifter with beam sword + support? I'm not really feeling the damage with any of the other melee weapons.
Try the memesword build of longsword and dual guns with blossom dance, true stream edge, zero zero, primer, ghost walker and offensive stance.
Also I hear Raygun pairs well with beam sabre. Just watch out for beam reflecting mobs
I've seen some crazy sustained damage. The one video I saw of a tutorial on how to perma-OD had the guy dealing roughly the same amount of DPS as me in OD, while he was 20 levels higher and using longsword.
This triggers me, and I don't know why. Miiverse post, maybe?
>there are people that spend 100 hours in a game not knowing if they are enjoying it
Nobody should have been "required" in the story.
The game could have still featured the main characters in cutscenes without literally forcing you to put them in your party. Many big RPG games have done that in the past.
It's lame how you're forced to use Elma and Lin for so many quests whether you want to or not.
The one change little change that would've improved the game 100 fold is to record little grunts and snorts to play whenever you have "side" characters not talking in quests. It's fucking weird watching my MC just bob his head while having Irina and Boze stare into his soul. They could've at least had some standard animations to play during those scenes.
Particularly weird when every voice, including the party members, has four movement grunts, plus a bunch of emotes also have sound. Many of those could have been used in conversations with no issue.
Wouldn't take more than a week to program and bug test. If they planned it early on, it would've added only an extra 3 minutes to the programming of any of those cutscenes.
I still find it funny having Boze, Nagi, and Frye stare into my soul while I ask Manon for their 3 sizes.
Party members are always fun.
>Nagi approves of you conspiring to murder him
>Phog approves of you being underage
>Elma wants to kill all xenos
I kind of wish they did like the previous game and had some of them say a few lines if you had them in the party for certain quests. There are a few spots where they'll respond to NPC dialogue, but you can easily play the whole game and never see it.
>"I'm dead inside"
>Heart pops up over Elma's head
>Full atheism fedora
>Heart pops up over Hope's head
>"Men's underwear is more comfy than women's"
>Alexa, Hope, and Irina get hearts
>Be rude to everyone
They're all bad influences on me. Poor Percy, the heart-shaded basket ball star of the stars, he never had a chance to escape.
On the plus side, he's going to get a mad strong harem one day. Fucking everyone is after his dick.
So should I just skip this? I cancelled back when all the censorship news dropped and it's already kind of cheapened because of it. Was going to buy used but it just seems like it turned put a lot worse and just less significant of a game then people thought it was going to be.
Ghost Walker, TP generation, and no one uses their ranged weapon for damage anyway.
If someone did go ranged damage though, I'm pretty sure Gatling Gun is pretty damn good if you stack ranged appendage damage.
Can someone please tell me where the last one is? I'm tired of running around the industrial district
>no one uses their ranged weapon for damage anyway
I'm running a sniper+knife offense build.
Black Butterfly -> Slayonet -> Afterburner deals insane damage
Stop using Ghostwalker as a crutch, anon.
>tfw it happened within a month
Yeah, the game is pretty shit.
Fanboys will defend it, but I don't give a fuck, I don't like it, and I already have the WiiU Monster Hunter for an "offline MMO" experience, which isca far better game.
I could list all my gripes with the game, particularly with how the exploration was handled, but there's no point.
Anyway, I bought it and the strategy guide, how much do you think I could get for both on ebay/amazon?
>the music is bad
Tell me that the Manon ship theme or Sylvalum isn't fucking fantastic. Then tell me that Xenoblade didn't have just as many shitty filler tracks like Time to Fight (the default fucking fight theme for half the game).
The music is really underutilised. The same three tracks are used in pretty much every Affinity/Normal mission.
>That over-the-top epic track that plays over the most un-epic standing around talking scenes...
It just doesn't work at all.
Also, this track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-ZWPt9Ht44
It's fucking shit. Those horrible wobbly vocals & chorus. It's just flat compositionally too. Pure crap.
I just got my first Skell after 40h of gameplay and I must say, I'm disappointed. For the most expensive game I ever bought I expected so much more.
40h, and at least 20 of those hours was getting stuck in quests trying to find a item that either would never drop from the monster or that wouldnt spawn in the place it was supposed to.
Seriously, this game is pretty much impossible without a guide.
I'm guessing there's no way to change your character's appearance?
I'm 7 hours in and though I made my character look like a grizzled veteran, I get this constant impression the game wants your character to look young no matter what.
i got it as a gift. from my wife. but we share our money.
so yeah. bit of a waste. smash is back in the Wii U and XCX is out with likes of ZombiU and other games i'll never play again
>Humans may be a bad influence
Humans are by far the worst people on mira bar non, including jabba the copyright-sensitive hutt. a third of NLA spends its time frequently trying to kill you, aliums that are actively trying to help them, you again, other citizens of NLA, hey look its another quest where they try and put a bullet in you and you can't do SHIT about it, and are even given the option to forgive that because hey, who doesn't have a day where people try and put you in a bodybag? and the rest of NLA spend their time doing very important humanity-saving things like: Sell toys, coffee, build completely pointless resource-gathering facilities, not find anything and go to fucking church.
I've assumed the white whale was actually a bit like that episode of the simpsons where the loaded all the worst people on the planet into a rocket and flew them into the sun. Elma just missed the sun by accident. At least we're all trapped on Lost Archipelago.
>Humans are by far the worst people on mira bar non, including jabba the copyright-sensitive hutt. a third of NLA spends its time frequently trying to kill you, aliums that are actively trying to help them, you again, other citizens of NLA, hey look its another quest where they try and put a bullet in you
You forgot to mention they're doing it to earn credits that wouldn't even cover the costs of the bullet used to shoot you.
>i'm gonna shoot you for 5000 credits reward!!
>meanwhile i'm earning 20k per tick because of frontiernav
well fuck anybody know how the fuck i can unlock all the skell super weapons for crafting? cause i just scoured much of the fucking game world and went through so many damn fucking containers and didnt find a single fucking one.
like shit where is one supposed to find all the fucking level 60 super weapons from?
like shit man what the fuck
oh dam really? ive been holding out on doing them since ive beaten the main story and was thinking on leaving many of the city/normal and affinity missions alone till i finished all the other thing and finally finish up them up at the end to close the game for me on more of high note than just doing all the grindy crap to 100 percent completion
Not someone who shits on XCX but I'll give my history with the series anyway because why not.
>Rented Xenogears for five day, during a school week, got to the giant boat place before I had to bring it back.
>Was fucking loving it but five day rentals come with due dates and I could only play a couple hours a day since school, and homework and being 10 and having a bed time
>next time we go to the rental store I immediately rent it again but this time it's been like a month or so, (forgive me this was like 18 years ago so the actual spans of time are not exact) and when I get the game home I could play for all of 5 minutes before it'd break, took it out and found it had a huge scratch so we returned it found out they knew about the scratch and let people rent it anyway
>Never get to finish the game to this day
>Buy Xenosaga Episode 1 because fuck rentals
>Didn't really like it, finished it anyway because it was one of the only PS2 games I had at the time
>Episode 2 comes out some people say it's worse so I just ignore the rest of the Xenosaga games
>Hear about this 'Xenoblade' game that's only coming out in euroland on /v/
>Pirate it and emulate on dolphin because why the fuck not it's not coming out in the USA anyway and I've got like 3tb of upload on bitgamer
>Didn't even realize at the the time it was a Xeno game like Gears or Saga until I was like half way through and Yaldabaoth showed up (I seriously don't know why I never made that connection until then but there it was)
>play through the whole thing and really enjoy it
>Hear it came out in the west a few years later feel kinda bad about never buying
>Buy a Wii U to play Xenoblade X and nothing else
>Dump about 400 hours into it so far
Story and Soundtrack are mostly crap but I really enjoy games with both in and out of mech gameplay.
More like money that was beyond worth it.
I can't put this game down.
Also it seems this game is more suited for soloing, than having a team. XC you were forced to have 3 party members at all times. This game you don't even need the other characters. Overclock is designed not for coordination but rather soloing.
Also Mastermind sleep locking is the tits.
eh im kinda of glad the new direction they took and what we got.
Like im obviously in the minority but i really liked that even though your avatar/elma were the main protagonist of the main story the real main character and who/what the game seemed to be about was more so the world of mira itself.
with the side quests and such Mira itself is the main character and i liked that they focused more on building a world of wonder and discovery than making and singular straight forward plot.
though now that they proven that they are able to do a good job with being able to do that and with a decent ,at least in a sense that its functional, online and with new fans to series such as my self im hopeing they reales a more ambitious next title in the series or other wise that mixes both a regular longish jrpg story with the fun sense of wonder and discovery that this game gave me and have never really felt before since when i first played morrowind.
>Does maxing out a class mean I can use that class' skills without needing the weapons? Like, could I use Offensive Stance with a javelin or beam sword?
class skills yes
but you mean class arts which is a no unless you got the appropriate weapon equipped for whatever the arts are that you want to use.
Monolith Soft proved in Xenogears and Xenoblade they can make a damn fine job at story telling. Xenoblade X, they proved they can make good gameplay.
Now all that's left is to give them a fucking huge budget and really good hardware.
I love how much freedom, variety and depth there is to the character builds and customization but man this game needed more party synergy and some decent fucking AI.
I can understand fucking it up on the first game, Shulk and Melia's AI both being completely and totally fucking incompetent making you essentially making them mutually exclusive since you can only manually control one at a time. But This game I feel fucked up the AI even more, No matter how you build your companions they goddamn brain dead and seemingly have no idea how to play their class at all, worst of all you really can't even do anything about it outside giving them very basic commands that really don't do help anything. I think the AI in this is is dramatically worse to the point it's like they didn't even try to get them functional.
I feel as a result it makes me feel even less of an attachment to them, because not only do 50% of the characters not even show up in the story or really have anything to say or do outside their affinity missions they aren't even useful to have around. Also with skells all they seem to do is get themselves blown up or burn threw all their fuel like it's nothing while also providing as little assistance as possible.
I dunno I just think this is something they could have improved rather than made dramatically worse. I mean how hard is it to get the AI to position themselves properly at least?
I thought the point of XCX was that you aren't a part of a group on a journey together to kill god. So that fact that there is less coordination/team emphasis/bonding makes sense in context. Also there is literally no need for the other characters, you can learn everything that makes them unique, yourself.
And other points where the game is worse than the original, yeah.
Chronicles is an 8.5/possibly 9 sixth gen style RPG. It gets extra favor for honestly being pretty inventive with its systems, doing a great job of combining fifth gen "vastness" (think of the wide open areas in games like MegaMan Legends and Banjo) with modern design sensibility, having strong art direction with its environments, taking popular elements from AAA games and MMOs without compromising its own design (the affinity tree is impressive and reminds me of Radiata Stories), and has excellent cutscenes in its first half and a spectacular dub.
X is mechanically superior in many ways and is notable in being an open world sandbox that's not content with flat plains and long stretches of nothing/copy pasted cityscapes, but it lacks in polish and some questionable writing decisions (Generic Soldier 3 has more plot significance than Alien Lucifer). It's pretty good, but for a sandbox game that's outstanding because most of them are shit.
As much as I usually hate shoehorned online bullshit, and I mean I nearly didn't buy the game because I heard about how it had all this online shit mixed in and I was imagining obnoxious cunts just ruining everything. I actually kinda liked it and wish there was more of it. Getting that kill on Telethia today was probably one of my highlights with the game.
I liked working together as a squad to accomplish those tasks with other people, I kinda liked offering treasure deals to random people and having them thank me for it. I and if I just wanted to play by myself and enjoy the story I could just turn all the online notification shit off.
While it's a shame they so thoroughly gutted the game's story to get that shit in there I wouldn't say it was the worst choice in the world. The online stuff probably doubled my total playtime. I mean I only put 80 hours in Xenoblade to 100% it, I've got 56 hours in Xenogears, but I've got 216 hours out of X.
>you aren't a part of a group on a journey together to kill god
You are part of a group though and you do have a common goal and you are on a journey of exploration and discovery with a large cast of character so the point you were attempting to make is kinda retarded.
> Also there is literally no need for the other characters
Which is kinda the problem, the game's theme isn't about one guy saving the world it's about working together and coexisting despite their differences. Yet the game itself has such shitty AI companions all they really do is stand there or at worst get in the way.
If I'm a part of a group, then shouldn't that group be with me for every single mission. The story missions only require Lin and Elma. I can literally leave them to do their duties in NLA and solo all the side missions. In XC, I could never go anywhere without my team with me at all times. Also chain attacks are for team coordination. Overclock is literally for soloing.
I think you are underestimating the emphasis on solo play.
>If I'm a part of a group, then shouldn't that group be with me for every single mission.
They are, as you said Elma and Lin are required for damn near every story mission and half of the affinity missions.
Sure they give you freedom over your party when it comes to fucking around with sidequests and side activities but the game itself is clearly about you being a BLADE on a mission to find the lifehold before time runs out. While you're off fucking around collecting 25 theroid testicles the ticking clock is stopped and the story takes a back seat.
Again the point you're attempting to make here is completely retarded.
That's kind of the point that's being made, anon. The narrative is heavy handed about how important teamwork is, but the gameplay and character interactions don't support that.
Again, the suggestion that the story was gutted specifically for online. Where the fuck is the proof that the online wasn't simply tacked on when they decided to re-envision the game, and that the story suffered merely because of that re-envisioning?
>Implying GameFreak chose to become a sweatshop.
They hate what Pokemon is as much as you do. Tajiri essentially ensured that GameFreak would never fizzle out like Quintet or Human, but accidentally shackled them to a dated, restrictive series in the process.
You know, this is the type of game where FF12 gambits would actually be a good idea.
Or the way Paradigms work in FF13.
Or anything that gives you some sort of control over your party in or out of combat.
I didn't read the article and I was just going off what the other guy said.
So fine, whatever, I really don't care if it was or not that wasn't the point I was making. I was just saying that, maybe, even if it was, it probably wasn't the worst choice ever made.
>collect information in the commercial district
Only times I've hated this game were during these segments in missions. The commercial district is too big and you're hunting for a single yellow conversation
People are claiming it's shit right now. Or are you under the mistaken belief that people cannot possibly have different tastes, and are merely deluding themselves into believing that XCX is a good game despite its flaws, and will eventually break free of their stupor with the next Xeno game?
Because that's not the case and that's not going to happen.
Yeah. I do wish they'd handled things with a little more common sense though -- it's mind boggling how many completely obvious features are missing from the game and online. Like volume controls, and the ability to reconnect back online whilst in-game. Furthermore, it would have been really nice if you could have made custom squads and persistent squads. The dream of a /v/ or /vg/ squad is shattered forever.
I think the opposite is gonna happen.
MS is gonna focus on story = no budget on gameplay/world design
Those that hated XCX will love XCX2, and those that loved XCX will hate XCX2
This pattern has happened since XG.
>Draw distance is like 5 feet because of Wii U hardware is so goddamn shitty we can't have more than 5 people on screen at once
>Sometimes the person doesn't even pop in until five seconds after you ran directly into them and already got the information
It wouldn't be nearly as bad if you could fly around in your skell or stand on top of a building to see where people are but the fact you have to actually around around the whole district to get people to appear makes it such a fucking hassle.
You can tell them to group up with you, you can tell them to use ranged attacks only, or melee attacks only, or build tension, or activate overdrive, or to enter or exit their skells (this is ESSENTIAL TO MASTER if you don't want to lose skells because they're getting shit all over). If you want Elma to use positional bonuses, call her over to you, wait for Lin to taunt or go ahead and take the initiative by toppling the enemy and taking her over to the position.
It's unfortunate that teammates feel more like semi-autonomous Options than actual teammates. Having an art usage priority system where they'll try to use them under certain conditions or every so often would have been great.
>but the gameplay and character interactions don't support that.
how? Most missions is your squad helping another squad implying all squad do the same. The gameplay give major importance to answering calls and having a good team balance.
Or maybe you missed that skill blinks are caused by team mates?
post-game combat ground is only shit if you actually force yourself to farm for 100 testicles to increase you stat to broken levels/get OP weapons.
Skell combat is watered down XC combat without chain attacks. That I agree.
>it's mind boggling how many completely obvious features are missing from the game and online. Like volume controls
That one got me too. I even made a thread about it like a week ago.
I mean you open up the options menu and it's this huge fully featured menu with dozens of totally unnecessary but much appreciated UI, Online and Camera settings but we didn't get any fucking audio sliders?
It doesn't help they game like to blast music while characters are talking either. Thankfully they included subtitles at least or else I would have missed half the shit they were saying whenever they decided to play music over the cutscene.
I dropped the game once I made an Ares 90, felt like continuing on would just be a chore.
Got my money's worth of enjoyment from the game, but I don't think I'll be replaying it ever.
>the music is the "localization" teams fault
>even though it was english in the japanese release too
I have installed all the packs, hell I didn't even attempt to play the game without them.
This is my first and only Wii U game and I'm coming from mostly playing games on PC off an SSD the draw distance and load times are agonizingly bad even with them installed.
Same. 720p doesn't help either. But art design is good and gameplay is fun.
Had this thing been on PC, and we mod out those odd but minor design issues, we could have had something.
The action in X isn't even as interesting as in XC though
You barely even have to pay attention to whatever it is your fighting, it's 90% spamming attacks in overdrive or sitting in your weird cockpit view where you can't see a damn thing as you spam more attacks
No. It's considerably improved.
At its core it's still a hotbar-cooldown type of gameplay, but the elements of how it works have been changed up. You now have both a ranged and a melee weapon on all characters. The auto attacks build tension points, which are used to revive fallen teammates (3000p), use Tension Arts (1000p), or enter Overdrive (3000p).
Depending on which auto attack you're using, your tension point gain will be different, your damage will be different, the effects you apply will be different, and the aggro you gain will be different.
The really big deal for me was the implementation of a Secondary Cooldown system, where each Art is based around one of your two weapons, and using those weapons will cause all arts related to that weapon to undergo a second cooldown for additional effects. The effects may be immediate reuse, a tension gain bonus, additional buff length and strength, boosted debuff effects, more damage, HP regain, and so on. So there's actually more strategy to choosing to auto attack for a bit for an extra boost as opposed to simply waiting for the art to cool down and rolling through them. Not much more strategy, a bit.
The combo system is also a little bit different, where instead of following specific arts, they'll get bonuses depending on whether they precede or follow certain art types, triggering a combo, during a combo, switching art type (ranged versus melee) mid-combo, and so on.
The QTE system has been significantly revised as well. There's a list of various conditions under which a QTE may appear, for each party member. The effects of engaging that QTE are different and, for your personal character in particular, you can not only change the bonus effects of successfully engaging the QTE, but you can also customize four specific QTE triggers under certain circumstances.
The party member AI isn't particularly improved though.
All those piano tracks should have replaced the music that payed during the speech cutscenes.
NLA day theme should be the theme that plays when you finish Gwin's affinity quest with saving that cat.
Some music swaps can literally turn this game from annoying to amazing.
>finally get to level 30
>buy some more skells
>mfw trying to drive the Verus
I cannot go to Oblivia with this thing
The vision system of XC added so much to that system, true, but without the vision system, XC's is mechanically worse than XCX in just about every way. The only real thing XC had on XCX is a massive difference in playstyle between characters, a difference that isn't nearly as huge in XCX as your character can learn everything that makes other characters unique.
For a while I thought I couldn't find Servant Sacrifice or King's Boon in my character's arts and skills, and I thought "are those completely exclusive to Irina?"
They weren't, unfortunately.
I'm trying to remember how far into the Wii's lifespan it was that I totally replaced my Wii with Dolphin but I'm guessing we've already passed it with the Wii U. We got really lucky with dolphin and it was a dream to buy a Wii game and immediately play it on dolphin rather than the Wii.
Doesn't look like that lightning is going to strike twice but it'd be really nice to play this game again without having to constantly deal with the Wii U's shit hardware in a few years.
Exactly there's no time to do anything else but spam. You can't back off a safe distance and cycle through skills or use soul voice because the enemy has infinite range. It could be a melee attack and even if you jump you'll still get hit. There's no defense but I guess that's why xeno series blows as an mmo and would be way better off as an arpg at this point. Bring back mecha combos and let me street fighter it up
>the weakest skells have the worst driving
>the strongest skells have the best driving (Amdusias)
shouldn't it be the opposite.
Verus/Formula/Lailah should control like Inferno and Amdusias.
Amdusias should control like Mastema
Mastema should control like Verus/Lailah
Half the time the scene isn't even comedic, it's just not action-y or dramatic so they throw that music in because why not
Oh what's that you met a new alien race? What a goofy situation let's play the funny song again
Not to mention they basically pop up randomly and fuck you if you're trying to use arts because suddenly you need to stop and press the B button at the right time
It's like for every 2 good ideas in the combat system there's one really bad one
They have a Wii U emulator but it's gonna take years before stable frame rate. Such a shame.
XCX would probably have been the best looking open world game with Anti-Aliasing/SSD load times/1080p+/Improved Textures.
God I hate that shit so much.
Or if you think you're clever and try to predict a QTE that doesn't show up only to ruin your overdrive.
Why this game needed even more QTEs than the original fucking baffles me. Choices like that are so fucking strange I will never understand.
I haven't played X but the same thing kinda happens in XBC too but only once as far as I recall. When Square-tache is yelling at the soldiers at the beginning, Riki's theme is playing even though you haven't met him yet.
So don't get it wrong. In regular combat it doesn't mean much, but that's a hazard of Overdrive - fucking up your QTEs can mean fucking up your Overdrive.
You're not obligated to do it, you know. The healing you get from it is more of a small boost, as is the tension point gain (100p) for a perfect one.
Duelist and Fullmetal Jaguar aren't the only viable classes you know. Ether dance/Ghost walker isn't the only play style.
I'm sure you don't know about sleep locking/Astral Projection tanks.
Is it just me or does this game have that monhun thing where if you look up what you want to craft then drop rates plummet
>farming XeDom Silver Crests because I heard you need them for the Ares 70
>get 4 in twenty minutes
>go to the terminal to confirm how many I need
>get one in an hour
Coincidence or some monhunnery going on here?
>The healing you get from it is more of a small boost
That really depends on your potential, soul voice arrangement, and your group set up.
You can get soul heals that heal you in the thousands fairly easily. The whole constantly QTE thing is just annoying more than anything though, sure you get some minor damage bonuses and the healing can be pretty major but you never need to do them and in that case they're just fucking annoying. I never got to the point where I actually shut them off though, you can do that in the settings menu. I guess that means they're both just useful enough to keep around and shitty enough to never stop them from being annoying.
It's way worse. Healing relies on RNG shit and time button presses. All your party members don't feel any different from one another, they are just there to tank and/or say soul voice shit. People love to claim this game has depth because it has a "job system" of sorts, but all it does it make the game more of a mmo. Overdrive is just a horrible boring mmo rotation.
>look up what you want to craft then drop rates plummet
Why do people play monster hunter again?
Everything I hear about this game just sounds terrible. The combat looks boring as fuck the armor and weapons look hideous, and the monsters look like off-brand dinos.
another feel bait/cheap metrovania game
only redeeming factor was quality graphics
Some many fucking casuals here.
Best weapon combinations:
Photon Saber/Dual Guns
Anyone find any use for Gatling Guns/Rayguns?
>have job system that encourages switching between classes to master weapons so you can mix and match abilities
>30 hours in abandon job system and half the new mechanics in favor of robots
I can maybe see the other ones if you have exceptionally objectively wrong taste which doesn't match my own, but enemy design in X is vastly superior and outside Miliesuars and Insidia almost none of them look like dinos.
The original game was shit though? The ost was horribly mediocre, especially the shimomura garbage that sounds like all her other songs. Not to mention the game is linear as fuck and the story was terrible. The fuck was the point of having Melia in as a main character when she's useless in the story.
I've said it a few times now, but the way the characters systematically join in on Shulks revenge quest had always rubbed me the wrong way.
>Riki didnt stay with his family
>Sharla didnt stay to rebuild colony 6
>Melia didnt stay to rebuild the High Entia
Nope, gotsa follow shulk to the end of the world because reasons.
Yeah. The music is really underutilised. I swear the Story/Affinity/Normal missions all use the same three tracks and that's it. It also annoys me when the Ma-Non theme song plays when meeting other alien races... why do the races not all have their own unique theme songs?
>healing relies on RNG shit and timed button presses
I dare you to say that again to Repair and Smooth Recovery.
Because the combat is challenging, demands knowledge, skill, and familiarity and reflexes from you, and there's a lot of mechanics going on in the background that can lead to interesting predictive qualities for the ultra-familiar and unexpected changes in a familiar hunt?
People play Monster Hunter for the actual hunting mostly. The equipment grind is just an excuse to keep playing it.
Robots simply don't get certain abilities that can make ground combat more viable in certain instances. Hell, in some cases it may be worthwhile to switch in and out of skells. Overdrive does a lot to pick up the slack of ground combat compared to Skell combat. Inflicting Beam Res Down V on an enemy, toppling them, and while in a Tertiary Full Spec blasting them with a Tertiary Beam Barrage is fucking orgasmic.
I imagine it's probably not as simple to chain Binds as it is to chain Topples via Gravity Blast with Secondary Accelerator, either.
Call of Duty Black Ops 3 for the ps3. It was 30 dollars new, yes, but the servers are such garbage I get disconnected or the host migrates from 9 matches out of 10. Worst part is, it's the only system that does it, I hear. Even the 360 version runs much smoother! This is what I get for trying to save money and not buy a brand new console or getting a gaming laptop I guess. .
Treasure sensor VI is 6%
So you have at max 30% increase with all the armor equipped head to feet. Much better than zero.
Also grinding for 1 Treasure XX = 20% is gonna take an insane amount of time without reward tickets. Decrept Wing only drops from the huge Lvl 91 monster in the chasm of Oblivia
Can enemies drop lvl 60 skell weapons? I have never seen one, aside of the super weapons I crafted.
Really think the robots should have been an evolution of the ground classes with arts and abilities that corresponded with your ground game rather than their choice to just make the mechs a cluster fuck of random arts with no synergy based entirely on what weapons you haphazardly strapped to the thing. I think Xenogears did this much better.
Imagine if say leveling up photon saber would correspond to specific beam saber arts in the mech, or is psycho launchers matched up with drones or assault rifles with the mechs various rifles ect ect. Sure they don't have to be 1:1 where you're using the exact same arts but I would have liked if there was more depth to mech combat and more synergy between the mech's arts.
Oh and mech skills is a total missed opportunity, we have exactly 1 skill that helps with mechs and everything else is worthless.
>Like volume controls
its not really the volume that was the problem but actually the sound mixing in general that was the problem. like they either got a total amateur , had tech complications that they weren't able to work through, or probably also due to how the dubbing and voice work in genral was done
>and the ability to reconnect back online whilst in-game
and that was probably intentional due to how their entire online infrastructure works. The most likely culprit of it is probably the whole leader board and avatar scouting things.
I use knives and ray guns equally.
Full Spec for damage
Recuperate for trying to survive
Repair for healing and extending Overdrive
Smooth Recovery for even better healing and an evasion buff and critically extending Overdrive
Myopic Screen for reducing the chance of enemy ranged attacks hitting me... and also dealing damage. In Overdrive, for TP regain as I can get up to 3000 TP from using it in the right circumstances.
Beam Barrage for... well, it's my bread and butter attack.
Gravity Blast for toppling for bonus damage and topple locking for enemies that would kill me in one hit.
Ether Blast for... a different damage type, I suppose? I hope I get Mia soon since I really want to replace it with Beam Bomber.
With a party of 4 fully equipped with the level 55 treasure sensor gear, you'll have loot coming out of your ears.
Look at the weapon serial numbers. If there's a 60 in it, you can probably guess what that means.
Thing is that for a good portion of the game ground combat becomes unviable, and it's only really in the late endgame-postgame content that you're out of a skell again. So for your average player only playing through the main story and some side content the game just massively simplifies it's combat midway through and steps back from all the cool stuff they introduce
>Riki didn't stay with his family
He was literally being shooed out the door.
>Sharla didn't stay to rebuild colony 6
She was on a revenge quest for her husbando.
>Melia didn't stay to rebuild the High Entia
Because there was political assassination bullshit underway, war planning going on, and she was probably safer out of town than getting backstabbed in tombs. Also she filled a much-needed spot in the team's ether usage.
What we need to fix Skells:
Skells NEED secondary cooldown, but just reduce the damage output.
Reduce the jump for Skells, they make ground exploration meaningless.
Make zooming in at max while exploring go into cockpit mode.
Have some sort of inheritance of ground based stats.
I actually think the game is really fun but, my main purpose for buying it was to do couch co-op and the game is just has way too much depth for my friends with short attention spans
I strongly doubt it's unviable. I've heard from others at levels appropriate for the mission that smart arts and overdrive can make up for a lot of Skell usage.
I've hit level 44 through exploration and sidequests alone and I'm only at chapter five. I have a hard time believing that my infinite HP overdrive setup is going to result in failure of later missions even after Skells are introduced, or are you saying that topple locking extremely heavy machines with gravity damage and shitting on shitters in robots by blasting right through armour with beam damage while never never, ever losing any health is suddenly not going to work?
>Reduce the jump for Skells, they make ground exploration meaningless.
I'm with you on all of them except this.
This is retarded. By the time you get your skell you already had a chance to explore the whole world on foot. There is no reason to lessen how high they can jump.
Guess I (>>323565043 >>323564823) was wrong.
Disregard what I said, I suck cocks.
I agree, and that's part of the issue of the game, it ends up becoming all about Shulk and Fiora and these other characters get left behind for a lot of the story. If it wasn't for Gadolt, Sharla would have literally been NPC tier since she has practically nothing to do with anything else.
I'm selling mine. Accessories and games Including PS2, Wii OG, and Xbox 360 gamesequal to About 1200 dollars
Not entirely the only weapons that are for level 60 frames and have that 70-80 serial number are the super weapons
No enemy drops anything higher than level 50 frame weapons and no weapons with a serial number higher than a 62 as far as I know.
The 62 are R-Cannons btw, there is a level 80 something seidr tyrant that drops 62 golden R-Cannons that are OP as fuck. But it's got damage reflect and you have to fight it on foot.
Because just like monster hunter, XCX is actually a nice game.
It's alright if people don't agree with you anon no need to get flustered.
It's crazy how Monolith dropped the ball on pretty much every aspect regarding the story & characters
>thin, straightforward underdeveloped story
>one-dimensional, anime cliche characters all defined by one single trait that gets shoved down your throat over & over
>underdeveloped antagonists that are killed off the second they enter the story with one not even having a death cutscene, just her mech on fire after you kill her
>less memorable cutscene direction
>the same three tracks played over every scene
>music used in scenes that don't fit
>most cutscenes consisting of characters standing around with stiff animations
>antagonists are just "we will kill you" pantomimes
That seidr's a pain in the ass with it's backwards dodging over the pool.
I can kill it, but like I said: a pain in the ass.
A second gear slot for skellwear.
Option to switch between jumping and flying modes.
A fucking simple menu to manage your party members and their gear with the game pad.
Submitting item to collectopedia/Enemy index actually shows the area where the items can be found on map instead of "Primordia". You've found/killed one of them, no reason not to show that info to player. It could have been a fun implementation of the FrontierNav system for the player. Like how you can switch between probe view/map names/etc on gamepad.
A map screen/fast travel that works without gamepad. The pad runs out of battery constantly, but it's not really viable to play without having it close by.
Ability to save your loadouts for your character so you don't need to keep refilling your art slots or maybe you just want to quickly hop between different builds in endgame.
Better music for the main town of all things.
Remove the requirement for 3 person parties for any missions. Use the fucking guest character slots since they are there.
Proper tracking for H2H content. Better map info. Better screen on how many H2H you've done already with a person.
“The design focus for this game was on map exploration and character builds during battle,” says Takahashi. “We deliberately distanced ourselves from having philosophical themes intertwined with the core of the story. Given that we at Monolith Soft had no experience with developing HD titles, our goal with this project was to experiment with and implement the assorted tech skills we needed for HD game development. We decided that trying to balance that with an epic theme-laden story would pose difficulties. Our hope is that we can start by creating the core system, then expand on the story and thematic elements in our future project.”
It's not a mystery anon. They didn't have money and time.
I loved this game but
I can't force myself to do any other route that isn't Impey. Fuck that faggot Lupin
If they wanted to distance themselves from philosophical themes, then I want to know why the mimeosome and life-hold mainframe plot twists and the Ch. 11 bullshit was necessary.
>If it wasn't for Gadolt, Sharla would have literally been NPC tier since she has practically nothing to do with anything else.
>if it wasn't for this thing that the devs wrote that made this character relevant to the story and is used to strengthen her and Reyns relationship and give her a reason to join Shulk's journey
well duh you bloody retard. tha's why they wrote Gadolt you fucktard.
>if you took away the monado, Shulk would just be an NPC
Nah you don't fucking say.
Fuck, he was a great entertainer. It sucks to see him go.
force of habit/a rush to fulfill the retarded expectations of gamers that want the same thing over and over. they focused on other shit and the game is better for it. Overall it's hurt by a generic story but not much imo.
If you actually read up on this stuff you will discover what I already assumed when I played the game is true:
The interesting characters who are for some reason pointless in the final game, like Celica and L, were originally supposed to be main party members in a core cast like the first Xenoblade. Other characters included a Dunban-looking older guy, and the daughter of the head of Sakuraba Industries, Reina Sakuraba.
All the generic characters we ended up with like Doug, Gwin, Irina etc were quickly shoehorned into the game when they changed everything. That's why they don't even have real character designs, they're just modified avatars.
As for Gwin's affinity missions, I'm pretty sure they were made mandatory for very savvy players like me who assumed Lao would die/be a traitor because his missions were suddenly mandatory. When Gwin's missions also became mandatory while Lao's status was still ambiguous, I started suspecting Lao was a red herring and that Gwin was the real traitor. Would have been better too.
>regarding the story & characters
the main character of the story is actually the world of Mira itself and not the player avatar
your player avatar/elma are the protagonist of the the main story plot but not actually the main characters of the game itself. Doing many of the side/normal missions should have made that obviously clear over time unless you skipped many of those.
the characters in the main plot are weak i do agree but they arent really supposed to be the main focus of the game anyway but then again you obviously expected something more straight forward than what you got and i cant really fault you for that.
>antagonists are just "we will kill you" pantomimes
naw you should instead be upset at all the religious allegory's shoved in during those final boss fights at the last second out of fucking nowhere
Well they have like 5000 force and attack 3 times so it's like a total of 15,000 force
The thing is though they only have a 20 second cool down and they only cost 30 fuel to use. What that does is it makes them ideal for triggering cockpit mode over and over since it activates randomly each time you use an art which a highly chance the higher your skell's potential is.
The same cave as Definian's Downfall in cauldros, gangolian ancotpolisiss or some shit.

Such a shame. Reina Sakuraba is best grill.
Finished chapter 10. I loved chapter 5 and religious themes. What kind of ride am I in for in chapter 11 and 12. I heard that's when the story gets interesting.
I have read perfect works for the record.

The main story is still shit though. I don't see how thiese points of yours change that.
I just got the Skell License, should I buy some level 30 Skells on top of the starting one or should I wait until I get higher-leveled ones? I do have around 3 million credits lying around. Also, which Skells should I get, in case there are significant differences?
The main plot was you setting data probes as part of Team Elma to find the Lifecore wich fits with how this game was marketed as an open world game, If you personally don't like it it's up to you
Buy the L30 Skells, the L20 they give you is rather weak.
Generally the heavy skells are better, but the Verus comes with a G-Buster weapon equipped that is very strong.
All are decent for something except maybe the Urban
Just get whichever one you like the most, it doesn't matter that much, you will end up buying multiple skells anyways as you will get too much money as you play.
Just take in count that you need LV 50 to use the level 50 skells, but only 30 for the cheaper ones.
everything gets all cray an shit in the last half of chapter 12+epilogue. Not going to say if it is good or not but god damned do they shove so god damned much in the last few parts of the game like fucking shit man
anyone? is the criticism just a lot of nitpicking or is it just not very good?
Only games left on the wii u to come are pokken tournament, starfox, and twilight HD.
SMT x FE is going to be fucked so I'm not counting it.
>weight of her parents legacy
>a child in an adults world
>talks big around Elma to look mature but isnt
>is a shield trooper because she wants to protect her friends
>jokes around when shes feeling awkward
>hates being seen as "just a kid"
>wants to help NLA above all else
Yeah nah yer a cunt m8.
you are gonna like this game for a different reason than XC, but you are definitely gonna like it. There are moments in this game equal to you first moment entering hyrule field in ocarina of time for example.
There are issues, of course. But it's one of those moments in gaming that you won't forget.
>The main story is still shit though. I don't see how thiese points of yours change that.
The "main" story is just your player avatars/elmas story but not the whole story of the game. You essentially just didnt like a small portion of the game and thats fine just that there are much more and different characterization done with quite a few of those side/normal mission characters that is not fair to just throw because you just weren't fully satisfied with a small portion of the plot
someone didn't do all of the side quests
yes? no? maybe?
that dont fucking matter
its just that its border line out of nowhere hitting the player like fucking truck with how much is shoehorned and essentially leaves one more flabbergasted that anything else while first experiencing it
The main story isn't amazing, but the core of the game isn't really focused around the story in the first place - really, the main story is mostly just an excuse to unlock more features and missions over time.
thats weeb as fuck man it was decently done weeb but still weeb as all fucking shit.
i still kinda liked it though and wish there was some delicous brown on lin futa action out there already like god damned some one should fucking get on that shit for fucking reals
I'm Finnish and I know of David Bowie but never listened to any of his music. It still feels kind of sad even for me. Kind of reminds me how little time we all have here and being that we're the first generation to grow up with the internet and we have all these fucking outlets to ponder together about how fucking sad this shit really is.
I'm 30, turned 30 like a few weeks ago. 85. I'm one of the last generations born just before the birth of the internet and one of the first to grow old with the internet.
It's fucking strange. Anyway, got porn to go masturbate to while I fight off this cold. RIP Bowie.
lol no once you get 60 there isn't an ounce of hard content left that doesn't just mean grinding for shit
B-B-BUUUUTTT YOU CAN GIMP YOURSELF
Yeah you can cut off your own leg irl too but that doesn't make it more fun
No dumbass they took away his Muhnado and he was still doing his thing because he's involved with a lot of things with the story, Dickson, Alvis, Zanza, all that shit and all the other people he connects with. Sharla is a literal yes man to everything because aside from Galdot's few scenes she's irrelevant to everything and everyone else. Even when they try to make her Melia's wingman it gets swept up and forgotten like all the other party members because the story was only written for shulk and fiora. Trust me nobody loved this game for its writing.
Why are all these extremely powerful Tyrants stranded on tiny islands in the ocean? What does that level 80 Tyrant gain by hanging out on that rock in the northwestern corner of the world?
if you like 3d zelda games for exploration and finding stuff you will love XC
if you know about rpg stats etc from pokemon you should be fine.
It takes time to get used to mmo-like combat, but it's not impossible.
It's rpg meets zelda in sci-fi, to make a accurate enough for you and also triggering autists.
Nigger I haven't posted about this game since release
/v/ isn't one person
And if you're referring to the time of the post I replied to, it doesn't make it any less relevant to the thread
Enjoy your tank tops and bunny ears though
>that level 75 coronid with the almost-instant-death aura
Don't miss with your ashagura cannon.
Takes about 2-3 hours to get an Ares, which can be used to finish Telethia.
I can't believe I'm bothering to argue about this shit still, I told myself I'd stop.
I guess I am autistic.
I do like the fact that they put some stuff in the ocean. A shame the only reasonably big island is the one between Primordia and Sylvalum but I understand them not wanting to make more big islands because they would've required their own landmarks and spots on FrontierNav.
>played game on foot, super fun
>skells unlock use them, game turn into shit
>decide to not use skells and git gud
>game becomes super fun again
no one is forcing you to grind for a 100 pig snouts so you can one shot everything in the game.
If I could only afford one game like when I was a kid, maybe I'd gimp myself for the hell of it to make it last longer.
But now I can actually afford to experience any games I want and pointlessly nerfing myself for "challenge" (which constitutes more grinding for proper overdrive set ups) isn't worth my while.
really? how come i hear certain swords like the ether katana get dropped by specific monsters?
is it possible there is armor that is exclusively a dropp that no one found, by some obscure monster?
UGH it's about the WORLD and MIRA is the main character god why do you nerds have to obsess over things like story or object and monster placement making any kind of logical sense
>XCX is just "Watch people stand still and talk" simulator.
Jesus fuck this, all that happens is people talk about the most menial shit. Everyone just repeats shit ad infinitum and there's nothing of relevance. There's no "drive" to the story, nothing pushing you on, you just occasionally do a story mission I guess.
>That over-the-top epic track that plays over the most un-epic standing around talking scenes...
This. Even the music that was reused in Xenoblade almost always fit the scene. XCX as a whole in comparison feels like it has no direction.
Xenoblade has some pretty heavy fucking themes of revenge, so most of the characters join the quest out of some desire to exact revenge on the mechon, except Riki who's just told to fuck off.
