I have a ps4 and a midrange pc (gtx 760, i5), what will give me the superior dark souls experience? The pc version is pretty much confirmed 30fps capped, right, so aside from antialiasing and bullshit reshades there'll be graphical parity we can assume.
The ps4 version has the advantages of: big TV+good sound system+comfy couch (immersion), all my dark souls buddies play on playstation for that sweet co op action, already have PS+ so paying for online isn't an issue
Pc on the other hand will at least average close to 30fps instead of the 25 or so ps4 will average, have marginally better graphics, is cheaper and has potential for a 60fps mod which would be pretty significant (would this even run above 30 on a 760?). Online will be partially ruined by hackers though like DaS2. I'm not a fan of paying games at my desk on my office chair with a small monitor but if the pc version is likely to be significantly better, I'll consider it (maybe even just move my computer out to my TV for a few weeks)
Basically how likely do you think the pc version will be 60fps, and is it likely that'll even run on a 760? Not baiting, pls this is an idort thread
As someone who only owns an Xbox, you probably want to get it on PC if you have a good one, I'm sure it'll be 60 FPS for PC, as everyone rubs off to 60 FPS so often nowdays developers tend to actually dumb down graphics to keep the framerate.. Although, I have an autistic hatred of mods in games so if you're like me you might want to get it on console.
PC has been the best choice for every Dark Souls game so far, I'd imagine it will be again for Dark Souls 3.
Anyone saying PC is full of cheaters doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about.
PS4. PC will have cheater. If it is capped at 30fps someone will mod pc to 60fps but we'll find out weapon degredation is tied framerate again. SweetFX will trigger bans and so on. Good times.
*modders, cheaters, whatever the fuck you call them. I didn't own Dark Souls 1 or 2 for PC but I know how big of an issue they were. Shit was annoying enough back when people were editing their Crystal Greatswords to +15 on the 360. Dunno how PC players put up with shit like that or even worse without wanting to kill yourself.
>I still get invasions in DeS after close to 7 years
That's actually impressive. I've been wanting to play Demon's Souls lately.
Thanks /v/ros, I guess ps4 it is then. I just really like SotFS in 60fps on ps4, played all my souls games on console so I wasn't used to it. Sounds like even if it is 60fps on pc which is unlikely without mods, ps4 will still have the better community and my homies to play with :3
No factual confirmation that the PC version is going to be capped, if anything back in October BAMCO marketers where saying keeping the 60fps from DaS2 was ideal, and even then, you can always supersample until your perfomance starts to degrade.
Cheaters have always been rare
If you actually play with your friends, don't mind playing for plus and uneven performance, and especially, don't mind the huge frame rate drops when co-oping you could go with the PS4 version
You can also set up your PC close to your TV you know.
I sometimes watched my friend stream PvP on PC and I saw how many cheaters there were, so yes, while I didn't play on PC personally I'm not completely ignorant that it was a persistent issue.
get on ps4 to play with your buddies. even if you solo playthrough 1st time. you'll all be hanging out one day and they'll be talking about the fun they're having. and you'll be eating your burger listening to them looking like a pc masterrace neckbeard
Pretty sure it's been stated or at least implied that it's a modified DaS1 engine and gameplay is still tied to frames or whatever it was in DaS1. Which also gives me hope that there'll be mods but they'll probably be glitchy
>I recommend foregoing the PS4 version completely because the player base are all fatty sonyggers and PC is the future
>PS4 won't support modding.
I was just saying that SotFS has gotten me used to 60fps souls games, it was hard going back to bloodborne for the dlc after that (you get used to it). I'm aware it won't be 60fps on consoles, I've played the demo at an event and it was roughly bloodborne's framerate.
I was under the impression there was strong evidence it will be capped at 30fps on PC as well, not sure what my source was for that though. Wasn't DaS2 on pc handled by a different porting team and came out months later than the console versions? I feel like being natively 60fps is unlikely given that we've seen zero pc footage and it's coming out at the same time as the console versions, probably a sloppy pc port like DaS1
PC because only autists worry about getting invaded by hackers when you can just shut off your connection. Besides, it's cheaper on PC and will have more bells and whistles than a barebones PS4 version.
>Reminder that you can't message recent players on Steam
I'm sure this has been said but every souls game has a better player base on playstation. Have had das and das2 for multiple platforms I can say this for sure. Playstation is the best platform for any souls game sadly.
>one person cheats
>HAHAHA GOT YOU SONYPONIES!
Well they haven't showed nor said anything about 60fps for one. All souls games except DaS2 have been natively 60fps and even that had issues running at that framerate. Japs are mostly bad at pc ports. It's been speculated by a lot of people to be 30fps. Where's the evidence that it'll be 60fps?
>not checking out the latest of those youtubes showing this cheats on PS3 and number of viewers (over five figures).
I honestly doubt there's going to be any difference in both graphics and framerate. I'd rather just not preorder and wait what the modding community can do. If unlocking the framerate fucks up the game and shit like that, then just go for the PS4 version, unless you don't have PS+.
Clearly the PS4 is the superior platform.
Better peace of mind as you know the game has been adjusted perfectly for the hardware
Better online experience, with the free games and online connectivity.
No viruses or cheaters
The choice is clear.
But then you can't play with euros or vice versa.
Talking from my perspective too since I'm from t. Alberto Barbosagal and I rather come across with people from the UK or the US than Asians or Russians who don't speak a lick of English.
>Clearly the PS4 is the superior platform.
Hardly. Right now, it is PC.
Subjective. Look at those cancerous sonyponies
>Better peace of mind as you know the game has been adjusted perfectly for the hardware
900p at 10-20fps with downgraded graphics? Maybe not big deal for sonyponies
>Better online experience, with the free games and online connectivity.
>No viruses or cheaters
>The choice is clear.
Just for you.
Source: Ex-owner of PS4
>niggers don't have PS4s.
Does it mean I am white now?
I can't tell the difference unless you put a game running 30 fps next to the same game running at 60 fps. Arguing about fps is some autistic bullshit and it detracts from actual discussion
There are a plethora of spics in Souls games on Playstation.
This whole argument is about which platform has the better community.
And I know niggers in real life that play Bloodborne, nigger name != non-nigger.
You have more niggers and spics, therefore the community is automatically worse.
>Hardly. Right now, it is PC.
I'd argue the prevalence of cheaters, more varied hardware/more varied experience, worse community, no uniformity of control options, etc, makes pc a more spotty experience to say the least.
>Subjective. Look at those cancerous sonyponies
The general consensus seems to be that souls games have the better community on playstation platforms (they did originate there remember, also they didn't make so many shitty memes)
Depends on the game. In the case of DaS2 if you made the pc port run on a pc of equivalent hardware to ps3, I would bet it would run worse.
>900p at 10-20fps with downgraded graphics? Maybe not big deal for sonyponies
Confirmed 1080p/30fps, why you lyin?
I'd argue in general pc is better and that is objective as far as connectivity and cheap/free games goes. So there's one point for pc
Nah, significantly less cheaters on playstation systems than pc due to the ease of use for cheating on pc
Legitimately better on playstation ya nonga
Any nigger of any kind is a net loss.
You cannot argue that your community is superior when it has more niggers.
Same for spics.
Frankly, I'm fairly certain that you're a spic, since most of the spics I've seen are Sony fanboys.
>Better peace of mind as you know the game has been adjusted perfectly for the hardware
I wish that was true, but every AAA game is plagued by launch issues and have to be patched later
did you forget the loading screen issues with bloodborne?
Or Asscreed mess of glitches?
most games nowadays aren't optimized for ANY hardware at launch, and apparently, gamers are okay with this. It's disgusting.
>A good community has no niggers or spics...Playstation platforms are full of niggers and spics
>Acting like nigger on /v/-Fedoracucks
>Nothing wrong with spics.
>And niggers don't have PS4s.
But, my black friends own PS4s. 6 of them stole PS4s. Just FYI.
Man you guys derail a thread pretty quickly.
So back to my original question, how likely is this game going to be in 60fps on pc? I just really liked the way DaS2 looked in 60fps on ps4. What's the evidence pointing to 60fps and to 30fps?
Is this likely to run at 60fps on a 760 with an i5 anyway?
>still get invasions in DeS after close to 7 years.
if only this happened in Dark souls 2....I've been playing for 70 hours and I've only been invaded 2 times, and that's when I was backtracking in Forest of the giants when I was a higher level. Is the community dead or is soul memory just that shitty?
The trailers on youtube are available in 60fps but there have been some murmurs from various news places that it's capped at 30.
We don't really know for sure right now. Also the people who are saying the PC version is full of cheaters are bullshitting you for some reason, it's not really that bad.
Ran into like 5 after ~250 hours of playing.
>Implying anything done with the ps3 will matter for the ps4 and a game that isn't getting a ps3 release.
To my knowledge game save editing for the ps4 hasn't become much of a thing (aside from a select few who keep the methods to themselves)
Even on ps4 the community is still pretty dead. Haven't been invaded in a while. Started playing again a week or so and no invades at all. I'm not even farming areas I'm literally killing and going to bosses.
Yes, let's look at how each Souls game has performed on PC
Demon's Souls - 0fps
Dark Souls - locked 30fps
Dark Souls 2 - 60fps with physics glitches
Bloodborne - 0fps
I mean hell, PlayStation actually ran better for 3/4 of the games.
The 60fps trailers on youtube are still showing a game running at 30fps, just the video was rendered at 60fps for whatever reason (look for yourselves, unless you people actually can't see the difference between 30 and 60).
Yes DaS2 was 60fps on pc but so was the ps4 version, and yet bloodborne is still about 25fps on ps4. This looks very graphically similar to bloodborne and it wouldn't surprise me if it was the same engine. The bloodborne engine was based of the DaS1 engine from memory and has physics, etc, tied in to framerate just like DaS1. DaS2 pc was ported by a largely different coding team and the pc version came out several months later after the console versions, whereas in this case they all seem to be handled by the one developer and coming out at the same time. Also ps4 seems to be the lead developed platform here (assuming from from's closeness with sony, all demos so far have been the ps4 version, all trailers and screenshots seem to be from the ps4 version) so I'd assume they'd aim for graphical parity between the platforms
I just feel like they'd be showing the trailers in 60fps and would have said something about the pc version by now if it wasn't capped at 30. But there's not much evidence beyond what I just posted, so here's hoping I guess. Any proof beyond Das2 being 60fps that this will be?
yeah PC is the best option for Demon's Souls and Bloodborne amirite?!
I know what you mean. I still get summoned to be the Old Monk a few times whenever I replay it.
>game specifically designed from gameplay to graphics to physics to artstyle to run at 30fps
>HURR DURR LET'S FORCE THE GAME TO BE 60FPS BECAUSE LE EBIN FRAMERATE MEME XDDD
so PC has had ONE good Dark Souls game? So what.
>MUH REDDIT PC MASTER RACE 60FPS
>this is an idort thread:^)
DaS2 promotional material was also shown at 30fps
>Any proof beyond Das2 being 60fps that this will be?
The same as DaS3 being framerate locked: none
None of those are Dark Souls games nigga
>Moving the goalposts this hard
>Trying to have an idort dark souls thread
I'm so fucking sorry
I wish Dark Souls ran at 30fps on PS3. Did you forget all the frame drops? DID YOUR FORGET BLIGHTTOWN?!?!
It was so great to finally be able to play those parts when I got it for PC.
I'm getting it for PS4. been playing since DeS. I think playstation community is the best IMO.
>potential for a 60fps mod which would be pretty significant
You damn well know that this, being a fromsoft game, will be hilariously broken and unplayable at 60FPS.
You want to go see the actual PS4 players. Go into the generals or go into the Bloodborne threads.
/v/ is just underage shitposting and people here shouldn't be used to judge a community.
Basically a video game version of /b/.
I'd recommend PC but if they pull the horseshit they did with 2 and separate the community behind a wholly different version then I'd say just fucking wait for a sale and not give a fuck.
It's like FROM is screaming at me and jumping up and down say "DON'T BUY THE GAME AT ALL UNTIL DLC IS FINISHED." I'm more than happy to oblige.
I don't see why this is an issue. Most people don't even notice if the framerate in a game is 60, 30 or 20. It's just another reason to complain. Internet hate culture is really starting to annoy me. It's like how people complained about Fallout 4 frametate. Do you know how big Fallout 4 is? You can enter a ton of houses. No loading screens. I'm not surprised the framerate dips a little under 30 on consoles. This game is even bigger than Skyrim. At least give it a chance.
This obsession with framerate in a game is getting out of hand. You have developers like Miyazaki openly stating they don't give a fuck about frames per second, but people still complain. Remember Blighttown? The framerate changed that entire area. It added to the challenge. It was a clever way to manipulate the technology and use it to change the rules. But do you think people appreciated it? Naw, they'd rather complain. On PC, people even went as far as casualizing that entire area by making it run at 60 frames per second.
Honestly, people don't really care about the framerate. If it was 60, they'd find another reason to complain. I bet most of you won't even play it on PS4, so why complain? Just play it on pc and install one of those japanese waifu mods and change all the enemies into pikachus or something. jesus christ...
People always look at me strange when they say they like their console better because of controllers and tv input and i say both are available on PC.
That is not why you like consoles, you like consoles because they are simple and have popular exclusives and that's okay
on ps4 I've only been invaded twice in ~35 hours of gameplay, but probably played over 100 co-op sessions. People are playing, they're just far outnumbered by scrubs who are too scared to invade
I know this is bait, but come on, at least try.
>but Bloodborne General is okay.
There is not a single general on /vg/ that's not shit.
Even the roguelike general is fucking garbage full of "BUT IS [GAME] REALLY A ROGUELIKE?"
From time to time, you can get pretty comfy discussions in here, other places are as bad but in different areas.
The only things broken were missing the floor when sliding down ladders and a single jump, the former could be avoided by limiting the fps to 59
Yeah, the same people that like the convenience of the consoles, seem to forget that they can move their own PC, or are lazy enough to consider not doing it
I'm in the same situation, OP, except I have a better graphics card so I don't really worry much about performance, except the usual bad PC port gripes.
I really wish From would say whether PC version is capped at 30 or 60 FPS.
Bloodborne has a lot of FPS dips and it makes the game harder in some parts, because it's hard to time the iframes when you roll to correctly avoid damage.
On the other hand, I'm a bit worried about hackers on the PC version.
I'm getting on both
preordering collectors on ps4, and if I can get a box for PC then preordering that, if not then getting on PC after ps4 plat
then xbox one when its like 30 bucks
