Is it just me or is skell combat kinda simple compared to ground combat?
You spend the first 30 or so hours learning the ins and outs of the combat system and it feels like a real evolution of the previous Xenoblade's combat, with each class putting a lot of synergy into your art options, secondary cooldowns with additional effects to manage, ability to master and mix class weapons for real variety, ranged and melee combos, overdrive opening up options for tertiary cooldown effects, etc. And then you get a skell and about half of that is thrown in the trash in favor of more equipment management and a goofy looking "cockpit mode" that just randomly activates
Is this how combat is for the rest of the game?
>just randomly activates
There is a random chance based on your doll's potential.
Every time you activate a doll art there is a chance cockpit mode will activate and reset all your cool downs. With a high doll potential (ex. 1000+) and some fast cooldown weapons with 3x custom speed on them (ex. R cannons/widebeam) you can basically get an endless string of cockpit modes. combine that with a super weapons and you're basically unstoppable.
The problem with Skell combat is that is has way too many random factors. Cockpit mode and overdrive extensions being the main ones.
If you fail at getting cockpit mode to activate, you end up waiting around for cooldowns unless if you have multiple short cooldown arts to increase your chances along with high potential.
Cockpit mode is also complete shit. You can't see anything, the screen spazzes out and you can't move to get in range for certain attacks. Why they thought it was a good idea I have no clue. It completely takes you out of the battle.
The only problem for me in skell combat is that most of the weapons have damage boost when toppling enemies, but no weapon that can actually topple.
One anon said the g-busters or something can topple but I havent seen it yet.
G-Busters only staggers, no skell weapons can actually topple on their own.
Once something is staggered it has no topple resist, so any ground art with topple would set them off.
What he didn't realize is he probably had some guy on foot with assault hammer toppling anytime he staggered with G-Buster.
R8 my team senpai, just about to get all up in Chapter 9
Well with skell fuel deleting very quickly, yeah, there's a reason you're supposed to chop and change for bigger fights.
I wish there were more bosses that absorbed your fuel, though.
Both ground combat and skell combat are shit. The game is just farming for mats to build a robot you like for /m/ fans.
I've defended games like FF12 and Xenoblade from fags who call them offline mmos, but not XCX. It is one. Why is XCX a party rpg? Your party members are fucking useless and only exist for the awful soul voice mechanic. In FF12 and Xenoblade 1 that was not the case at all.
>I enjoy pushing orange when the voice says orange
I'm really torn on soul voices. On one hand I like them as they're the only thing that really adds to the personality of most party members outside of affinity missions, and you have some room for planning cool stuff with them through setting up your own voices and choosing party members based on that. But then in execution you can never really plan or count on any of them coming at any given time so it's pretty much 100% reactionary and doesn't have much strategy to it.
>nigga you do realize it's better not to follow them in the long run right?
You have to when you need a heal, which is the majority of the game. You only stop following them when you break the game and no longer need your party members to heal because you ghostwalker blossom dance everything.
Breaking the game is the only way to play end game without wasting a shit ton of time.
How do you think they expect us to beat a global nemesis without breaking the game and killing it 100+ times per round? The want you to break the game.
>Breaking the game is the only way to play end game
Which is why end game sucks ass in this. I remember when I first saw that The Calamity flying in Oblivia and thought, wow, can't wait to fight that. then it turns out you are just supposed to one shot it with ares90 and farm it for treasure sensor mats. It's shit.
HOW DO I GET MORE STORAGE AND BOOSTER PROBES
>not selling the spares
also a lot of them are duplicates
when you see limited etc., sell the "low class" one
I think only two outfits have actual different looks in quality, the jacket and turtleneck
That's nonsense because you can do all 3 at once. Not to mention positional arts in this are weak as shit and only point in ever using one is for a bonus like TP gain. I love how people who praise the shit combat in XCX fail to understand it.
>exactly, just sell
What part of don't bloat my inventory in the first place did fail to understand? This is Mass Effect tier stupid.
>it's probably an XCfag
Bettergamefag, oh no, what an insult.
I wish they would've added some depth an nuance to it.
Like, build in a meter so we can tell when a soul voice is coming up, and have the mechanics that fill that meter change for each class (So like, Shield Troopers need to draw agro to build the meter, Duelists need to do damage, Masterminds need to debuff, etc.). Having it trigger randomly is weird.
Also, it'd be cool if we could get chains going with different effects. Have purple->orange->yellow give a big damage buff, orange->orange->orange dish out a nasty debuff, green->green->green gives everyone an aura or reset cooldowns or something. Just playing a single round of Simon says is kind of disappointing.
>you can do all 3 at once
no, you don't have time to always wait for that shit
if your health is low you gotta take the soul voice
this adds an extra layer if your moves combo and you have one on CD but need to heal
>you don't have time to always wait for that shit
Most of the time you do. You only ever don't when you need to heal and the game prevents you from doing this basic thing when you want to and you are forced to rely on reactionary RNG nonsense.
>soul voice isn't random,
Wrong. Soul voices are triggered by a percentage.
While there are set conditions for soul voices, there is still a chance for soul voices not to go off. So yes, it still can be a gamble and I would like a little less RNG in the game.
>don't bloat my inventory
>he doesn't sell shit immediately
Man you really are braindead. Please explain why you think bloating your inventory with garbage and making you sell it (for a negligible amount) is good game design.
>complain about combat while only barely touching it
I think you have problems reading champ.
I haven't even gotten to skells yet but I believe it. In all the xenosaga games the mech combat was shit. Granted it got better as the series went on but from x1 to x3 it went from "completely unessisary" to " meh". Ground combat was always so much better and more engaging.
Yeah, the ground combat is way more interesting. Skells are completely OP though and once I got that g-buster and started one shotting everything there was no going back.
I used my sell from about level 30-42 and from then on I started fighting outside of my sell because it was more fun and I kill stuff faster with overdrive abuse. So basically fight however you think is the most fun, he'll you can even jump in and out of the sell during combat. What's stopping you?
This is by far the most beautiful and imaginative videogame world ever. Holy shit, there's no way for any game in the near future to come close.
>Man you really are braindead. Please explain why you think bloating your inventory with garbage and making you sell it (for a negligible amount) is good game design.
Because the purpose of those items is to give you those clothes. Some repeats itself because people lose them.
I see your point but this isn't ME tier shit where you get pointless items as these ones aren't, problem is that they should have tucked fashion items in its own category. Also you'd be surprised but more than likely your items from quest rewards are actually holograms.
>the telethia plume will be killed in your lifetime
what a time to be alive
I really would like this game just a little more if Skells weren't in the game or at least not required to a point. I'm not a huge mech fan, I'm indifferent to them but I loved XC so much I got the game just off that.
I fucking hate soul voices.
Not only because I'm terrible at them and miss like half of them, but they're also obnoxious and get in the way of gameplay. You can't do anything while the QTE is up so if you're in the middle of doing a melee combo you've got to suddenly stop when you're doing to press b at the right time which could potentially mess up some crucial timing you had on your art usage.
Also the game just throws them at you constantly, every other second you've got another fucking PRESS B PRESS B FAILED PRESS B, NOW PRESS B, FUCK YOU PRESS B, DON'T THINK ABOUT ANYTHING PRESS FUCKING B, NAH FAGGOT TOO EAR-NOW PRESS B AGAIN FUCK YOU PRESS B PREFECT NOW HERE COMES ANOTHER, HA HA TOO FAST FOR YOU FAGGOT, QUICK NOW B AGAIN, OPPS LOOKS LIKE YOU CANCELED YOUR OVERDRIVE PRESSING B TOO LATE!
It's just too much and really hampers my enjoyment of playing this fucking game. The first game had QTEs too but I don't remember them being nearly as fast or obnoxious. Like I remember nailing blossom dance every time and never having a problem with the QTEs but this one they're so fucking fast and there so fucking many of them it feels like I'm trying to X out of goddamn porn pop-ups on a late 90's internet explorer.
Post your doll mains.
>mfw B is the button to exit combat aswell
Game is not very well thought out. I even lowered my expectations because of japan's reaction and it still disappointed me.
>LOOKS LIKE YOU CANCELED YOUR OVERDRIVE PRESSING B TOO LATE!
I really hate that.
XC had it set up that you had to D-Pad Up/down to get the Run option, but they had to go change it in XCX to any press of the B button.
>one punch Mastema White Reaper
>Ares 90 for when I just want to kill 10+ squad mission task fuckers at once for easy blade medals
I've got one of each level 60 Skell except for Ares 70 because fuck the ARes 70 but I just dump em on teammates
>you can do things just fine when they're up
No you can't. You have to either fail or pass the challenge before you can do anything. Which usually takes like half a second. This compounded by the fact the game likes to throw three or four of them in a row.
No it didn't. They only have the background but you never felt like you're living on a giant.
And yes, it was lame because it was predictable and obvious.
Uh pretty sure you can. In fact I just did it right now.
you're either getting stunned/staggered or just not paying attention, since you can still use arts and autoattacks and all those while those are up, whether you perfect, good, or fail them, whatever speed it's going
what you can't do is switch weapons by pressing X, which is inconvenient but not a very big deal
>but exiting your skell is always a slow prompt
Are you fucking retarded? Exiting combat, as in put your weapon away, is not a slow prompt. Exiting your skell is not a prompt either, and it isn't done by the b button. You are thinking of when your skell is destroyed.
You are an idiot, like most people who worship this game.
Considering I've already beat the whole game and killed every super boss if I was going to get good at soul voices it would have already happened.
As it stands now I just fail them as soon as they pop up because I'm not going to wait around to do them right and potentially fuck up my combos.
Fact is the system is shit and the goddamn QTEs are obnoxious as fuck.
a massive faggot
>building mid range fatty
>believe samurai gunner is the best path
>melee damage is crazy good
>rifle can't do shit all and is almost pointless
How do i improve my ranged damage? I need my rifle to shit on stuff a little better
Nigga you only exit in combat in B if you have no prompt.
Holy shit you really are an idiot, for a guy claiming to hate this game most of your complaints are addressed if you pay attention.
Or you know, you just suck at prompts.
It's one of my lone complaints with the game. Ground combat is so fun once you start dabbling and messing around with other classes then it all gets thrown to shit with Skells where you launch everything and wait for CDs praying you get cockpit time.
I'd rather they copy pasted the ground combat than what we got
>could've saved Graham the Cracker
>chose to let that asshole die instead of de-bomb him
>this makes it impossible to save Ackwar, who blindly runs into his death with pizza-man
IT'S A HORSE EAT HORSE WORLD
It's not, learn to play the game.
While the QTE is up you are locked in the QTE, you cannot use arts you either have to fail or pass it first.
It gets in the way of me reupping my overdrive constantly since when you hit overdrive it almost always triggers one, which means when I want to hit it 3 times in a row I have to hit overdrive, hammer b to fail the QTE and then hammer A again once it's failed.
Except I just used an arts while B prompt is happening you nigger. In fact, I even did an arts (Sky High if you're wondering) then prompted B because it was slow.
>shitposts after being called on how he is a terrible player
at the very least though, it confirms my suspicions about XCX shitposting being at the time where it's near midnight in america
>Nigga you only exit in combat in B if you have no prompt.
Hey moron, if you press it too late, guess what you do? Exit combat. Both actions should not be tied to the same button. This is fucking obvious and a stupid mistake.
>for a guy claiming to hate this game most of your complaints are addressed if you pay attention.
For a guy claiming to love this game most of your rebuttals are childish, show lack of understanding and reading comprehension and don't excuse the tedious and poor design choices.
watch literally any of those
most people actually ignore the soul challenge since they're not taking damage anyway, which means it runs the full duration, and you can bet that they are doing things while it's up
person on /v/ who complains about the game just sucks at it, what's new?
No you cancel your overdrive is no QTE is up, not when you're hammering b to fail it.
At least pay attention.
Or the prompts fucking suck. When did /v/ suddenly start liking retarded constant QTEs overlaid over everything? Maybe I'm just getting too old for this shit but I still find QTEs obnoxious as fuck.
Does anybody else skip every single cutscene in this game?
I sat through one of those "cooking with le loli" videos and have skipped literally every piece of dialogue and cutscene since. Just finished up ch 9.
The exploration and just tooling around smacking things in your skell is fun as hell, the story and writing is complete trash.
>Hey moron, if you press it too late, guess what you do? Exit combat. Both actions should not be tied to the same button. This is fucking obvious and a stupid mistake.
If you press B too late, the game will actually recognize it as a fail rather than exiting you in combat. Really the only way to "exit" combat is if you see the Failure sign but still insist on pressing B.
>For a guy claiming to love this game most of your rebuttals are childish, show lack of understanding and reading comprehension and don't excuse the tedious and poor design choices.
Said the guy who can't even do prompts properly and instead blame it on the system rather than his own ineptness.
QTEs like this are fine since they're not thoroughly killing you and are actually very lenient.
You want shitty QTEs? Go play RE4 or Bayonetta 1.
>he relies solely on QTEs to heal
here's another one!
Maybe one day you will have reflexes better than a sloth, until then you can just wean yourself on turn based rpgs
It can still hang in the air, moron. But you've already either failed or passed it at that point.
The actual QTE lasts less than a second but the prompt says on the screen for long time after the QTE is passed.
At least know what you're talking about before you make an ass of yourself.
Are making the same mistake, while the QTE is active you have to either fail or pass it before you can use arts, the QTE says up long after this however which is probably what is confusing your retarded asses.
>If you press B too late, the game will actually recognize it as a fail rather than exiting you in combat.
Wrong. You will sheath your weapon. This is especially frequent when binding with your Skell on the last PRESS B moment you will inevitably fail.
>Said the guy who can't even do prompts properly and instead blame it on the system rather than his own ineptness.
Hey moron, there are more than two people in this thread. My problem is they are tied to the same button which is a retarded thing to do.
>QTEs like this are fine
They are garbage and quite literally press X to not die. The worst kind of QTE there is.
Yeah he sure is missing out on all the fantastic writing in things like Gwin's required affinity quest.
>hey Colonel, I feel like I'm not doing much damage against enemies, you think I need a better weapon?
>lol no, you just need to believe in yourself!
>wow I never thought of that before, thanks colonel!
>game expected Goetia's boss fight to be tough shit
>2 beam sabers on my skell since knuckles and grenade were worthless
>shield that buffed my melee damage
>Goetia dies in like 2 minutes
>had to grind out 3 levels to even start chapter 8
nigger did you just missed what I posted
With the prompt still active, I can still do anything. That is my point to refute your supposed "you can't do anything". You're seriously just digging yourself a hole.
The bind shit is because your allies will bind do, now that is an actual problem because you have to set it up that you'll handle the binding.
As for the rest, it wouldn't happen because the first input will still trigger the message. Really, unless you mash B nothing bad will happen.
Yes it is dumb it's in the same button as cancel, but with the way it's woven it wouldn't happen unless you purposely press B repeatedly.
And no, this isn't the worst QTE as even if you sheath your weapon (assuming it happens), you can still pop in.
>all affinity missions are the same
I have been building up a set for the Super Bosses for my entire team with regular LV 60 Skells. Have Ares 90 just to grind the materials. Just playing it this way because I want to have fun on the superbosses instead of doing the 1 shot builds. It's taking a lot more time to do but hopefully I can get one last awesome fight against Telethia and Pharis
>Gwin, Irina, and Doug are the most boring party members.
So are Elma and Lin.
Why the fuck is the main cast so goddamn boring compared to the side characters? HB, Murderess, Phog and Frye shouldve been main characters instead of those shitters.
>people who haven't actually played the game pretending to criticize it with things like "you can't do arts while QTEs are active!" and "if you fail the QTE you exit overdrive!"
>People on /v/ now defend obnoxious QTEs and moronic button layouts that will cause you to exit combat for missing said QTE
What has this site come to? I mean I love the game but this is just surreal. It's truly frightening just how bad this place has become I might have expected this from GameFAQs 5 years ago but on fucking /v/? Today? Jesus. What the fuck happened to this place?
>people defend shit offline mmo combat and qtes
is this /v/?
>He is consistently wrong and doesn't know what he's talking about
>Acts like he does
Not only why does he exist, but why the fuck are all his affinity missions required to advance the story? They're completely inconsequential and are never referenced in the main story.
>moronic button layouts that will cause you to exit combat for missing said QTE
factually wrong, I've pressed the button too late multiple times, never once exited combat unintentionally
The game is good for the exploration and quests, but aside from that it has too many flaws in the combat system, the story is shit, and the post-game farming is truly MMO tier levels of boredom.
>/v/irgins who are such obvious sheep they hate all reflex checks on principle and don't realize that the justified hate is for Press X to Not Die like in movie games
You press B to exit combat, B is also the QTE button, if you press B after the QTE has failed you will in fact exit combat or your overdrive.
I mean play the fucking game before you start shitposting.
>Because Almandal =/= the whole game?
Uh, yeah actually. This whole game is about being a broken faggot and one shotting shit. Fuck strategy and fun. Just farm augments, mats, and overpower something and pretend its fun.
Unlike other similar games (firt Xenoblade, FF12) you have no chance at fighting higher level enemies. There's no strategy to save you. Only making an overpowered mech/weapon and one shotting it.
At least learn what these words mean you goddamn moron.
The original post said "will cause you to exit combat for missing said QTE" if you 'missed' it clearly the QTE is already failed. I mean this is like first grade reading comprehension here. How can you honestly fuck that up. Then again you're defending QTEs so I guess this level of retardation is to be expected.
Fuck yes. Custom character garbage is not good for Xeno games. And the online shit is so tacked on and adds hardly anything to the game. The missions are piss easy, the only thing that is somewhat fun are the Nemesis bosses, but even those aren't mind blowing or anything. I wouldn't miss them too much if they weren't there.
Its fine to experiment, its good that they tried this out, but it does not need to be included in future Xenoblade games.
It's fair criticism against story missions. The game's main appeal is it's exploration, which will cause you to over level for the story missions. Then you have yourself anti climactic boss fights which is a staple in JRPGs.
As I said, you changed "missing the QTE" into "if you're mashing it after failing like a total downy"
Now what we need to recognize is that for downies like yourself who can't understand basic posts like mine, they couldn't make enough failsafes in order to truly retard-proof it. If you're mashing B after failing it, you're already beyond help.
Ah yes, i forgot how i farmed XX augments for my whole team for 100 hours so i could learn how to not play the game like you did.
I thought i used comboes in a Javeline + AR to sustain my auras and OD when irina gave me tp with last stand.
He hasn't played the game in the first place. Pressing B is for soul challenges, not voices
Not to mention how small of a influence it has anyway, like we just mentioned it's only for morale and 5% health which basically never matters.
>he thinks everything relies on fucking overdrive
well now I know I am being shitposted
only superbosses have that and even then at that point 3k TP is easy to gain
said by the guy who said soul voices need QTE
who /regionfirst/ here
got top 3 on the other hardest bosses
quit with first in 5 time attacks, lost them all for sure though lel
Mashing implies you have to hit it repeatedly, you only need to hit it once after the QTE is failed.
I'm seriously questioning if you've even played the game at this point because your whole shitposting scheme is falling apart and you can't even keep your story straight let alone understand how the mechanic even works for someone who supposedly never had any issue with it.
>only superbosses have that and even then at that point 3k TP is easy to gain
What do superbosses and post-game have anything to do with this?
Are you even paying attention?
He said to press b to INCREASE THE FREQUENCY of soul voices, not for using them
If you're hitting it "just once I swear" after it goes through the small circle, after it converges to a point and stops, after "failed" pops up, after "failed" fades away, that's even more pathetic.
Stick to turn based RPGs for all our sakes.
It's what happens when you respond to retards, anon. /v/ never developed an immune system to deal with it and so the virus gradually turned it in to /b/. Take a look at how healthy your brothers at /a/ and /jp/ are.
my point is that losing overdrive is pointless to cry on, since assuming you cancel your attack (again, I'm only entertaining this notion that it cancels even though it doesn't), you can immediately engage attack
What the fuck is wrong with the cutscenes in this game?
>characters talk in the quietest voices possible while Sawano's music is all WOAAAAAH OOOOOAH AAAAAAAH
>characters also talk for fucking forever
>blatantly bad lip-sync (ie: Luxaar in general)
>of soul voices you need to get more health
This is, as I said, one of the ways you can tell he's just a retard who hasn't played it.
Some soul voices give you stronger debuffs, some give extra damage, some give TP
If there's even any that give health, it would have to be a single green voice that triggers after being crit 3 times or something
Its so bizarre that they picked that as the tyrant song.
Black tar's lyrics are garbage but at least theyre somewhat about fighting. The lyrics in Uncontrollable are about a couple making up after an argument. Like wtf
Skells and the cutscenes/story ruined the game for me. I was loving it until I got my skell and then everything just felt like a boring chore, not to mention that with skells you pretty much always hear the same songs.
Yes, 3kTP is easy to gain.
>dying in a generic fight
you only die if you fight super bosses, but by then you have TP-gaining abilities that 3k TP is easy to recuperate.
>didnt get my skell till hour 60
>at hour 100 and still on chapter 8 with a level 50 amdusias
i feel like i fucked up by grinding out a level 50 skell. everything is so trivial. even story mode boss ground battles i have 15 to 20 levels on everything. i just couldnt stop sidequesting, exploring and just all in all getting distracted and lost in the world
Yes it is? Are you those fags who couldn't even amass 1k?
At which an overdrive missing won't kill you.
My point is lipsynching being poor is common in JRPGs with few being exceptions.
>it's on the order of 1%
Good job proving once again people who worship and praise this game don't even understand it. Just push buttons.
I don't blame you. The UI is ugly and completely fails at presenting information to the player properly.
what? i just throw on one piece that has fuel efficiency and one piece fuel drain on bind and i have to fight for quite a while before my fuel runs out. even with the g buster
>using the forced story characters on your main team
>using the cocky douchelord HB
>everybody dressed like shit
>playing a female when there are so many of them already
>meanwhile people were saying that missing a Soul Challenge would make you lose overdrive and that you couldn't do arts when one is active
Yes of course, the people who praise it
>soul challenge is the ones that pop out after B
>soul voices are the ones AI says
Except for the fact that I'm not? Overdrive isn't really necessary at all unless you go out of your way to be gimped.
So what's happening here is you being trapped to a corner because you have no actual, objective rebuttal.
I think you might be fucking retarded anon. Soul Voice system is the bulk of healing. Saying Soul Voices only restore like 1% health shows you don't know shit about this game.
Not that Anon but my autism can't deal with JRPGs that don't have a 1 to 1 ratio of males to females. It doesn't make sense to me that a lone male would be living with Elma and Lin.
No, soul challenges are
and it's still pitiful. Voice heals are just more pitiful
Come back when you've played the game, it's not like final fantasy and some others where you keep low HP out of combat. All the fights are designed for you not needing heals, and what healing you do get is very small, like how you could take Sharla out of your party in XC and still win.
Just a heads-up for when you stop being an unrepentant retard, and actually play the thing you pretend to complain about.
When I first heard the song I thought it was about war, since the whole "our last fight do you remember" thing and got this whole love blooming on the battlefield vibe. Which makes sense, sorta.
But yeah, its literally a couple talking about their fights when they were together.
Could you be any more wrong?
Soul Challenges and responding to Soul Voices both get you a ton of HP and the amount you get is effected by your potential.
You can lose half your health and then have it back a couple second later after to just a few of them.
Soul challenges and voices (if voices do at all) provide pitiful healing, in the single digit & range. They don't matter, as anyone with the game will tell you. Read the posts in the general, check other /v/ threads, nobody ever talks about how high it is, people in videos often ignore it, it's not enough to live through spike damage, and they don't even happen commonly.
Come back when you've played the game. Until then you'll continue to embarrass yourself. Saying "nuh-uh" won't get you any more pity replies.
I forget the name of it, but there's an aura you get from GK. It's supposed to give everyone astral heal and astral purge. Whenever I use it, it doesn't fucking nothing. Nobody is healed. What the fuck?
I got stronger heals using my photon saber arts than your tiny knife
>single digit % range
It makes it so that your heals and purges affect everyone, you still have to cast them.
Not that the shitposters who haven't played the game who are raiding this thread will know something like that.
Quick question when it comes to coloring your Skells, did anyone else switch the gloss finish to Matte?
I did it because it makes the Skell look more like a machine rather than an action figure.
He's not wrong, you are.
The healing factor of Soul Voices and Challenges are not fucking minor at all. You can get hundreds or thousands of HP back for each one. Will a full party going you can have dozens popping up at any given time.
Obviously the only reason people are pretending they matter is to push the "press X to not die" agenda which anyone who has played the game knows isn't true.
>Soul challenges and voices (if voices do at all) provide pitiful healing, in the single digit & range. They don't matter, as anyone with the game will tell you.
The fuck is this moron talking about? Nobody who has played this game doesn't notice that soul voices heal your party and higher potential = higher heals.
holy shit you must be terrible at videogames if you cant even get a good for the soul challenges. its not hard to perfect most shit either.
you have shit opinions because you suck at video games.
Unlock and jump around until the pointer lands on part you want then click the right stick.
There is seriously no easier way.
L + Y/A lets you switch targets but the only way to lock on to different parts is jump around like a retard.
I'm afraid /v/ is still somewhat immature despite being an old board
The users responding to "voices and challenges are so important, they heal a super bunch!" might as well be responding to posts saying that grass is purple and not green
Anyone with experience in grass knows it's false, and anyone with experience in XCX knows soul healing is pitiful, but for some reason people on /v/ take that kind of stuff seriously
>L + Y/A lets you switch targets
The controls to switch targets mid battle are fucking garbage. Why would they change the system they had in XC? It was perfectly fine. If ain't broke don't fucking fix it
Also I miss Skell jumping. They should've made it where pressing the jump button once you're already in the air activates flying so you dont lose the skell jump and aren't having the field music constantly interrupted
Thanks. I literally spent 100 hours without knowing this. Not only did I have to do retarded flips to target what I wanted, I also kept doing them while constantly switching weapons to get back to the body part I want. I don't remember seeing the game saying that with the rest of the controls, but maybe it was me just being retarded.
Actually it's not surprising they resorted to that after getting DESTROYED on things like missing challenges making you exit overdrive, and like how challenges being active makes you unable to use arts.
Well, you know, getting DESTROYED on how those complaints are 100% false.
Which of course leads to "soul voice healing is actually high, of course I don't have an argument beyond that, I'm just right"
I have 444 hours in the game and I can confirm pressing b after missing a soul challenge will exit overdrive and that you cannot use arts until after you've dealt with the soul challenge.
I didn't think anyone would try to make a funny after the decisive video proof.
What's the next step of your master plan?
So how the fuck do I beat the Rexoskell for the Definian Downfall mission? I'm around level 53 and fuck I scouted three other player avatars that were 58 and I still got wrecked by that thing.
Honestly I find it hard to believe that the Ganglion Antropolis is entirely on foot only, with all the nasty shit there including that level 70 something humongous fuckmech. There HAS to be a way to get skells in there.
>sucking at videogames makes them harder to play and your performance in them is less than optimal.
>a problem and bad game design
fuck off you shitbag and stop being so terrible at videogames
My team kept toppling the crap out of it. If you have some mechanoid augments or effects, it shouldn't be that difficult.
You best start believing in the ghost walker overdrive meta. You're in it.
In my case I spammed astral horizon and heal but even then I died a few times because she could two shot me in quick succession.
>level 55 part in level 45-55 gear
>do that wrothian time attack
>get annihilated in a few seconds
Worst part is when this happens, you have no idea how it happened. You just die because the attack didn't even hit you, but you take damage because you were in range like 10 seconds ago.
I used Grenada Galactic Group armor because it has good Beam damage defense and that apparently helped a ton because i beat it on the first try. I put the medium armor on myself, the light armor on Elma, and the heavy on Lin. I also used a skill to get extra TP and one Max TP augment so i ended up having like 9000 TP. Built up TP beforehand and just kept using overdrive until it had about 1/5 health left. After that, my TP would reset everytime it got close to 3000, no idea why, i guess it was an aura that Rexoskell used? It didn't matter too much by that point because we hadn't taken much damage, I just finished her off with arts.
If you click the top video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tm-CISIItXg , they literally do it at the start, so yes. The Gravidus video where the player uses an art during a challenge, 5 seconds in that proved you didn't know what you were talking about.
I'm still low level and starting chapter 4, one of the arts says it does something when you start a melee combo, but I don't actually know anything about pulling off combos. Anyone feel like spelling it out? I'm kinda new to jprgs in general.
Obviously you're retarded, since that video is just proof I'm right.
While the SC is active they cannot use arts, yet while the SC is still up after it's already passed they are allowed. I mean it's the easiest thing in the world to test I'm confused why you are still so adamant about being wrong on this.
Just go into combat wait for the SC to popup and hammer a, you won't be able to use an art until after the SC has passed or failed that video also proves this.
A melee combo means you start with a melee art (either an orange or purple art tied to your melee weapon) then follow it up with the art that gives you a bonus from a melee combo. Just use the second art within a few seconds of using the other one, you have a little bit of leeway in regards to time.
Another way of saying "gets a bonus from melee combos" would be "gets a bonus when used after a melee art"
The game doesn't really tell you. The manual might?
In any case, a melee combo is using a skill after an art that uses your melee weapon (doesn't even have to be an attack art). It doesn't have to be immediately after, you have some time to do it.
Oh. And aside from seeing which secondary timers fill when you have a weapon out, is there a way to tell if an art is melee or ranged? I tried checking the arts screen but it just doesn't say. It took me a stupid amount of time to realize the ones that say "TP" on em burn your TP.
say, If the damage numbers are spiky, it means you got a combo OR you used the conditional of you ability correctly (like using back slash in the back of an enemy)
I'm impressed that you're trying sooooooo hard to take the bare truth and pretend that it's actually the opposite. At 16-17 seconds, he uses Primer during a soul challenge. At 5-6 seconds, he uses tornado blade during a soul challenge.
You're not rusing anyone or being an epic troll. Nobody's going to fall for it. Just give up.
Oh good, I've gotten that a few times. The colored rings that shoot out of your character let you know when you've used the right skill for a soul art? And that siren sound lets you know when you're in your enemy's melee range? There's so much they don't say.
I'm also having trouble figuring out if a blue check mark on top of a 'there's a quest in this segment' icon is one icon or two separate things that just happen to be on top of each other.
Check in the arts selection screen. like pic related, the weapon its tied to will appear next to the level of the art.
Oh, I coulda swore that I had two orange arts, and one's secondary filled with my gun out and the other filled with the knife out. I can't remember their names, it's whatever arts you get as a commander. I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong.
So basically wear beam resistance gear and I should be good?
Also whats this about an infinite overdrive I keep hearing about?
Oh shit, it is right there, how did I not see that.
I think that sums up everything. There's a gorilla I have to kill for a quest that's wrecking my shit but I guess I just have to toughen up
About combos: melee combos can actually be triggered off a non-orange art
I do it all the time with offensive stance > ghostwalker with Fast Forward active, and you can tell it worked for sure due to ghostwalker having its cooldown cut in half. This makes me think melee combos are solely based on the weapon type the art is associated with
so I actually think someone should confirm if moves like assault hammer can trigger melee combos, since it's orange, but still an AR move
> grind out augments, weapons, gear and upgrade material for a make shift build
> treat it out against Telethia
> only 50 RP taken as opposed to the 500 that all those YouTubers get
Fuck you blossom dance meta sheep faggots. Why don't I get to have nice things.
>I'm impressed that you're trying sooooooo hard
So am I, I mean it is the easiest thing thing to prove you wrong on and all you need to do is just start any battle and try it.
Being wrong on the internet isn't that big of a deal anon, you don't have to make such an ass of yourself about this. I know you got confused because the SC stays up after the fact and you thought that's what we were talking about but we've already gone over this.
Your persistence on this is truly puzzling since the game most certainly doesn't let me or anyone else I've seen use arts while the SC is up.
Hell I'm in a fight right now and can easily confirm I cannot use arts until after the challenge portion of the SC is passed.
you can reactivate overdrive if you get 3k tp again, by pressing the middle again. With a few augments to generate more or extend the OD, you can stay in permanent overdrive. Also, using green then oj/yellow increase you od timer, and blue does too. Depends on your OD number
if you can make 3000 TP before your overdrive ends, recast it to get it back to full duration
additionally, using certain colors in certain orders during overdrive will add seconds to the timer
i never said that i didnt fail them at all, sure i do at times. at 110 hours i have literally never accidentally left combat or left overdrive from failing one though. to suck this bad at them to me is unbelievable. maybe its not so much of a problem for me because i have played other games that are much more demanding on the reflexes, so managing hitting x between weapon cooldowns to max damage from auto attacks, combing arts and hitting soul challanges is not hard. you dont have to be the best to not suck anon, play some devil may cry or star craft.
no YOU are a loser who cant even manage simple mechanics. whats it like being total shit at video games and never winning at anything.
to add to this, I have a skill that gives 130 TP every time i use an art in OD, though i can't remember what class i got it from. It helps a ton though, since OD is basically just spamming as many arts as possible
It was sarcasm, I don't actually want him to type up more lines as he pretends to not see the video showing tornado blade used during a soul challenge, while a soul challenge is literally in the Perfect circle the moment he activates the art, and then the same thing happening 11 seconds later with Primer
desu he's probably doing it wrong
the only skill I could see actually being worth dropping is fast forward, and only if mastermind actually gives a fuckload of potential, enough to make up for having fewer tier 3 blossom dances
and of course, if it's against nonthreatening enemies where you don't need to keep up twice as much ghostwalker
although it actually looks like he might not be a blossom dance set, since he should have more total melee attack than that if he has a katana like Receding Rust
I like it. I particularly enjoy the post-battle quotes, specially the one between the avatar with Shulk voice and L
>This all feels so futile...
>OH IS THAT A BRITISH ACCENT? PIP PIP OLD BEAN
the bottom is green rarity because even monolith knows that the traditional ones are better
Well aside from the lip-synching, I think what everyone was fearing was that NoA was gonna butcher the dialogue and tone down the themes and more serious heavy quasi-philosophical stuff like
Doug questioning whether they're even human anymore since their real bodies are long dead and their consciousness was copypasted into a computerand memes up the ass.
Not sure what you did m8. My party was extremely useful.
Actually go out on your own and fight stuff, it takes considerably longer to kill them.
The game has its problems sure, but gameplay ranks much lower then say, THE FUCKING TEXTURE POP IN JESUS.
So I just completed Yelv's last affinity mission.
What the fuck just happened
Why are there two Yelvs? Is the current Yelv a robot?
That is beyond strange to me. I get that this game was borrowing a lot of ideas from MMOs, but I didn't think they'd make the cap so low. Pretty sure the original chronicles had the normal level 100 cap. Or at the very least higher than 60
Yelv is not a mim being controller by a human, he's an entirely artificial person with implanted memories. His partner very likely didn't exist at all. Eleonora knew about the body parts before you told her since she planted them around Mira for Yelv to find.
Probably, but she also does enjoying playing with other kinds of toys.
I was just fan fiction wanking. It makes sense to me since both you and Yelv have amnesia. Also, the AIs were created to make efficient BLADE members. You're arguably the best one.
Yelv has amnesia (outside of his partner), just like you.
Nobody remembers seeing you ever on the White Whale.
The events of the post-credits scene make the fact that you were found at that certain date very weird.
These things make people belive you're also an AI, just like Yelv.
I've had my Wii U since March. I haven't played a single game on it outside of Mighty Switch Force, Megaman X and this game.
I currently have 200 hours on it and I'm happy I went through with it.
maybe thats the whole point of Yelv AM, to make player thing/ realize that you might be a fake personality
will be funny if some human actually betrayed mankind and sided with Ghost even before Elma got to earth
augments, AKA shit that boots your stats, + comboing the right arts + Overdrive + Skells.
anything over lvl 60 (except small tyrants like Humanoids and some crabs) are designed to be killed by playing smart. not button smashing
I took 90 RP off.
I should feel like I contributed. Right?
Maybe. But it does explain why Yelv was so fucking irrational.
>We found a limb! This somehow proves that he's alive and not a dead amputee somehwere
>You found more limbs? SO DID I. SO MUCH PROOF THAT HE'S ALIVE
Now below 70,000. I estimate we have 1 or 2 more hours to go before it's defeat. If there are any achievements for being online in the game when it happens, I suggest you guys have the game running when the time comes.
How does the online even work? How is an enemy's HP coming down? I thought that the extent of the game's online play was creating an avatar cpu clone of your character for other players to recruit?
It's a scary thought. The interest of this game is only going down from here. The exposure so far can be summarized with a few lewd images of Elma and Lin. The fanbase never reached levels where the rest of the cast like Murderess and Hope getting raped. Which still isn't sufficient because I was hoping for Goetia and generic Prone women porn.
at that early in the game, you're most constrained by the lack of mastered weapons/classes and arts gained by Affinity Missions.
you'll do your best when your teams arts are synced up to satisfy the soul voice mechanics, since a lot of those can grant an extra +100%-200% damage when they get satisfied.
So will the next Xeno game be a continuation in the same universe? Because I sure as hell hope that we don't get those loose ends like what's the deal with Mira and all that shit at the end.
I still don't get comboing. How do I combo with the other characters in my party?
do i seriously have to have the imgur item maps up for all the fetch missions in the BLADE concourse?
mine actually says 0
and what's weird is that it only had up to the 50 kill mark lit up when I finished, but going back to the console it says I got up to 80, which I did at 356
How the fuck do you get 100 000 Miranium storage to buy the Ares 90? I combo'd all my storage probes together with duplicator probes on the side of the combo and booster probe combos on both end of it and still only get about 83 000 storage. I already did all the Kirsty/Tobias quests and completed most of the collectopedia (only have 1 item left in Sylvanum and 1 in Cauldros), so I have no clue how to get more storage/duplicator/booster probes.
You don't really combo with your teammates except for giving them stagger/more damage on topple/inflict [attribute down] arts to facilitate your own combos and shit. (Remember: an enemy that is Staggered will ALWAYS get toppled by an art that says "inflict Topple")
Arts that say "do more damage in melee combo" means they'll do extra damage if you use that art after YOU used a melee art, your teammates have no say in this. For example, the FMJ art Sky High deals more damage after a melee combo, meaning if you were to use it after a Backlash, it'd deal extra damage.
>it actually fucking dies
Holy shit that was hype!
I picked the hunter. She wears the pants in the relationship but they seem happy. I don't think it's like the sidequest in the first Xenoblade where picking the "wrong" spouse will make you feel terrible for everyone involved, I think both choices are good.
>didn't get it
what does yours say in start>intel>achievements
I guess, even though it said 0 RP left when I got to the board right after finishing mine, it doesn't count
whatever monolith, maybe next time this happens I can change the clock back to today, which is when I actually earned it, so it will have the right date
I don't think they used that concept to the fullest though. The best thing they did with it was the looming robot in the background.
The world itself was just token grassland, swamp, snow, etc.
Is the Telethia Plume based off the Telethia from the original Xenoblade? Does the lore of X reference Xenoblade, and are there any references to previous Xeno games like "Weltall Id" being a boss in Xenosaga?
i have 400 reward tickets and I'm just about to start Chapter 9. What should i do with them
Yes it's based on Xenoblade's Telethia, and yes there are hints and Easter eggs relating to the first Xenoblade, particularly in Nopon questlines.
There's a Skell class called Well (but it was localized as Verus by NoA for some reason)
Go see what you need to craft a Supercivilization Uniform from the AM terminal (the one with Treasure Sensor XX). Then get as many of the things you're missing as you can with your tickets.
>urgent matters come up when he was at 110k
>come back a minute or 2 after it died judging by the posts here
Guess I'll work on Shiggy Yggy. With a Longsword squad that may or may not be 100% optimized we can generally shave off 300 bars at least
I wonder if the Telethia is more relevant to the story than it seems. It only appears in the story when it saves you after being surrounded by tainted but other than that nothing.
Do they ever explain why Lin has monado hairclips?
I'm just before Chapter 11 and the only monado mention has been the "Sword of Legendaryness" questline, which HAS to be the monado. Probably.
Painted my Mastema White Reaper white instead of black to match its zenith cannon and megaflame bullet
and I figured I would call it the White Rapper, but that doesn't fit so I used Slim Shady
I'm pretty proud of myself
>Nopopopon Slash X
They really should have just made a sequel if they were going to throw fucking everything in as some kind of reference. Makes me wonder what the original draft was like.
