SH1 > 2 > 3 > 4 > SM > > > (the rest that shouldn't exist)
it is. It's way too easy, nowhere as scary as the others, and has some major pacing issues.
The Team Silent consisted of total of around 20-30 people in whole, and the development of SH3 started before 2 was even completed. They were some truly devoted detail-maniacs, and workaholics as well.
...Anyway, since this is an SH-thread, I guess it's time to repost the DOWNLOAD LINKS:
SH1 NTSC DDL:
SH4 torrent: Kickass torrents
And in case someone's once again new to this PC gaming stuff: Use a program like DaemonTools Lite to mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
The "sh2proxy" fix works as a no-cd crack as well, and is included in the pack.
SH1 > SH2 > SH3 > SH 4 >>>>>> Insane Cancer taking a dump >>>>> American Silent Hills
SH3 would be the best if it wasn't so linear and had you see more of the town, especially in the northern half, rather than in James's.
>Generic Inner demons guilt-trip storyline
Team Silent, a team made out of underachieving Konami employees dumped together and told to make a horror game to compete with RE made one of the most original horror series that actually rival and perhaps surpass Resident Evil.
One guy made all the CG cutscenes in SH staying up late and sleeping in his office using the power of multiple computers while Konami refused to let this guy be credited.
This is what pure passion looks like. It's just such an inspiring story. Saddening we don't see much of this anymore given the state of the industry now.
>One guy made all the CG cutscenes in SH staying up late and sleeping in his office using the power of multiple computers while Konami refused to let this guy be credited.
Is there more info on this? I'd like to know more about what went on behind the scenes, aside from what the official Making Of videos showed us.
damn yamaoka looks like a sleezeball here
and damn motomi a qt
>The shit Sato had to go through just to get his name on the fucking game's credits
Why is Konami so fucking retarded?
>SH3 is better
>SH2 is better
SH2 is better suck my thick cock, choke on it.
I shouldn't have been surprised but I was. Seems they were always a scummy company to work with even back then. SH should've never been this good. It would've been doomed or maybe even scrapped if Team Silent never showed their initiative and went their own direction.
Only equivalent of Team Silent nowadays is From Software if you ask me . Dev teams like them are few and far between.
I've only played SH1(good and bad endings achieved) and am currently playing SH2(just got out of the Hospital), these games are fucking amazing!
But there's one thing that is bothering me with SH2.
Am I supposed to use the joystick or the d-pad? Because the d-pad feels way easier to controll than the joystick, but usually that's not the case for PS2 games.
The amount of work and research these guys put into understanding Western culture and architecture is really outstanding. You don't really see that kind of conviction in modern dev teams these days.
It's a shame that after SH3, they clearly wanted the series to end, but Konami in their eternal wisdom would ruin everything as usual.
Not sure about this but I think a few members of team silent got picked up by Sony and got to work on forbidden siren. Sony picking up Kojima and his team is like history repeating themselves.
then why did most of team silent left Konami saying that "Silent Hill is over"
I bought the HD Collection for PC, never read the reviews for it so didn't know if it was good or bad, but goddamn did they mess up!
Movememt was stuttering and was unplayable. Like, you couldn't move forward consistently no matter what options and control schemes I used. I didn't even know it was that possible to fuck up.
fog is slightly altered but odds are you don't even notice the difference. It's nowhere near as bad as the HD collection. Graphics and lighting are generally improved. Also SH3 supports 60 fps. SH2 can be modded to run at 60fps but its a little buggy last time I tried.
although SH2 may have been the least scary SH game by Team Silent, it still is the best psychological horror game ever made
Any cool guy want to set up an SH4 Mega mirror?
>Silent Hill 3 came up almost 13 years ago
>Character models look and act amazing
What was their secret
>the two character designers are female
>Heather Mason hands down one of the best female characters in the history of video games
If only feminists could actually fucking try, you know?
>The character designers made a compromise between making Heather attractive but flawed in a realistic way
Most of the original team members left after SH3 since they wanted the series to be ogre. Konami disbanded them after 4 since no one from the original team was left and apparently they wanted their games to have a different 'feel' to them.
