I don't know anything about TF2 because I only played the console version.
All I'm saying is that back in my day you'd get skins just for playing the game. Even heroes of the storm gives you colors/skins for playing.
Sure it's just cosmetic stuff, but I don't see the point in paying good money for a game when I can pay nothing for the same nickle and dime experience.

Overwatch is about switching to heroes that benefits your team, not grinding one singular hero all match for a skin.
