>So apperently Ubisoft Bucharest have recieved some NX dev kits in October 2015. And after experimenting a bit with the new hardware they started developing games for it.
>According to him, NX is a portable device and a home console. There will be two different devices, the handheld and the home console, the first one will launch in late 2016, while the home console will probably launch sometimes in 2017. They only recieved dev kits for the handheld as of now.
>they are preparing a port of Assassin's Creed Liberation, a PlayStation Vita game, for it as a launch title.
Ready for a great launch, guys?
I would be happy if the NX would be the same console but one with weaker hardware ( portable ) and stronger hardware for stationary use.
It would be great: Nintendo could release more games for both consoles because the Game A ( lets say a Link to the past ) isnt limited for the handheld alone and players who dont like handhelds could play it at home with better resolution and higher framerate and better graphics.
>release console with stupid gimmick
>it doesn't sell
>immediately give up on it after releasing some shit first party games, leave it to rot and move on to the next one
at least Microsoft is still supporting the xbone despite its resounding failure
how does it feel, nintentoddlers, to support a company that is LITERALLY worse than Microsoft?
what they need is to be simpler. fuck firmware updates and internet browsers, etc.
I remember when consoles were actually convenient and didn't force 40 minute mandatory installs.
>Again, bear in mind that this rumor can’t be verified. Our source posted this on 4chan, and it has since been deleted.

Okay move along everyone, there's nothing to see here
I think everyone needs to approach any Nintendo news with a pinch of salt, obviously we are going to see some crazy posts and claims leading up to the NX reveal.
Personally I'm apprehensive about anything Nintendo releases following the Wiiu. Contrary to the torch and pitchfork reaction of many anons, I didn't hate the console itself but the business decisions of Nintendo.
If the NX is a cool console I don't care, I want to see some great releases for it. I refuse to purchase it unless there's a classic Pokemon title, since Mario is rehash/dead, same with smash, same with most Nintendo franchises.
I work for Ubisoft, we are porting tons of games for this, shit going to be rad
Far Cry Vengeance
Assassin's Creed: Altaïr's Chronicles
James Cameron's Avatar: The Game
Michael Jackson: The Experience
Rayman Raving Rabbids
The Dukes of Hazzard: Return of the General Lee
NX will truly be the place to go for the bets Ubisoft games, with this unprecedented relationship with Nintendo
>Best games on the system dont even use 3D or 3D is trash
>Wii with waggle shit
>Best games only use little to no waggle
That always being said: Would the 3DS have been even better if it had just been a Super Nintendo DS?
I really hope the NX will be good.
there are 3 or 4 good titles for the Wii U, and that is not enough. The other consoles can at least hide behind the promises of great games in the future while the Wii U is already at the end of its life.
bull shit. the new 3ds isn't even a year old. nintendo didn't even give the wii u the axe that fast and it's a massive failure. you really think they're going to drop their most successful line of business so they can roll the dice on something new?
you do realize smash is the most popular game on the wii u, and the 3DS version sold twice as many copies?
> there will be people who defend WiiU and Nintendo's abandonment of the console.
> There will be people unironically excited for the NX
>there are dumb mobileposters RIGHT NOW
Might as well be a bait thread.
Might as well rename /v/, /bait/
>According to him, NX is a portable device and a home console. There will be two different devices, the handheld and the home console
What? How is this different from any other Nintendo cycle then? There's always a handheld, and always a home console. Even if they link up and have some cross compatibility, it really is nothing new. It's the same old nonsense, but with a different PR spin.
I am reminded of early WiiU announcements, the Nintendo Direct.
Reggie went up on stage after the video reel and said something like "See? We got Batman!"
It was that moment specifically that they confirmed that they truly just don't get it. They don't realize what meaningful third party support actually is; they don't know why that, and the wiiu to that effect, was so bad.
it's not that we're DEFENDING the axing, it's just that such an insignificantly small number of people were dumb enough to buy one that the vast majority of the planet doesn't care. apple could decide to drop OSX support and more people would care.
>According to him, NX is a portable device and a home console. There will be two different devices, the handheld and the home console, the first one will launch in late 2016, while the home console will probably launch sometimes in 2017.
Surely that branding will be super fucking confusing for parents looking to buy their kids an NX.
Either that or they'll say "you already have an NX! You don't need another one!"
>There will be two different devices, the handheld and the home console, the first one will launch in late 2016, while the home console will probably launch sometimes in 2017.
If this is actually true it's DOA just like the Wii U.
>>So apperently Ubisoft Bucharest have recieved some NX dev kits in October 2015. And after experimenting a bit with the new hardware they started developing games for it.
Fucks sake, will Ubi ever let this studio make something by themselves other than fucking ports.
>how does it feel, nintentoddlers, to support a company that is LITERALLY worse than Microsoft?
I would have never started to imagine dreaming that Nintendo would someday become worse than SEGA, then Sony and THEN MICROSOFT
>when they were asked by the Ubisoft managers in France what they want to develop they said they wanted to port an Assassin's Creed game to the handheld because they have a lot of experience in porting.
We literally knew this was going to happen for over a year, it was reported ages ago Iwata was talking to investors about the next system having multiple form factors with the same OS to make it so they could easily have the handheld and home console libraries cross over.
I've been trying to tell everyone this is what the new angle of the system would be forever and everyone's all like "lol what is the NX it is a mystery guys" anyway
>We literally knew this was going to happen for over a year, it was reported ages ago Iwata was talking to investors about the next system having multiple form factors with the same OS to make it so they could easily have the handheld and home console libraries cross over.
No, he didn't you idiot.
Welp, at least their ports are pretty damn good.
He sure did, idiot.
>Iwata said in a presentation to investors in March 2014 that while Nintendo wanted to port Wii games to the Nintendo 3DS, or bring Nintendo 3DS titles to the Wii U, it found that because the architectures were so different, it required “a huge amount of effort.”
>But in 2013, Iwata unified the hardware divisions into a single team, saying during that 2014 presentation that “because of vast technological advances, it became possible to achieve a fair degree of architectural integration.” This meant, he said, that porting games across platforms would be much easier, and help solve Nintendo’s current problem of “game shortages.”
>Then, he began to talk about Nintendo’s “next system.”
>“It will become important for us to accurately take advantage of what we have done with the Wii U architecture,” Iwata said. “It of course does not mean that we are going to use exactly the same architecture as Wii U, but we are going to create a system that can absorb the Wii U architecture adequately. When this happens, home consoles and handheld devices will no longer be completely different, and they will become like brothers in a family of systems.”
The Dreamcast was 11 years alive
The PS1 was 12 years alive.
What you meant to say is that Nintendo likes to shit out their new consoles each 3 years and kill off all support for soft-and hardware to the previous system.
Listen, faggot, it literally doesn't matter how long a console stays alive as long as it receives proper support during that time. The Wii U received support for like 2 years and was then immediately axed when nintendo started leaking rumors about the NX. They blatantly fucking killed their own console because it wasn't doing as well as they had initially hoped.
Even the PS3 received support despite being a shit console for 90% of its life. The xbone is a failure, and it too is being supported by its company. Nintendo promptly abandoned ship on the amiibo lifeboat when their first party diarrhea didn't boost sales.
I literally cannot understand how Nintenyearolds can actually defend the company after this debacle.
>Even the PS3 received support despite being a shit console for 90% of its life.
and it is STILL getting games, after being 9+ years on the market. and not just shovelware shit.
if you want a console with longevity you buy playstation. if you want a meme gimmick that will be killed off by the very own company who made it after merely 2 years you buy Nintendo.
Remember the *NEW* New Nintendo 3DS?
>I remember when consoles were actually convenient and didn't force 40 minute mandatory installs.
That's the consoles fault because???? Blame the developer for releasing half the game on CD or for the game being so shit, it needs 18gigs of data to be playable.
>I'm so glad Nintendo is getting away from the gimmicky shit with this new console!
>o-oh its another gimmicky console?
>I'm sure they'll do it right this time guys! Handheld are so cool r-right?
It's like they literally don't care what the people want at all.
I can see same form factor OS working here. Windows 10 just recently got that working between PC, tablet, and mobile phones in a sense where all devices now run on the same build and receive the same application updates.
My concern is that while Windows tablets and phones can be literally bought for 50$ a piece so that nearly anyone could grab one, would people be willing to pick up what could be an expensive handheld at launch and then an expensive home console a year from launch? By cross libraries, would all games work on both systems or just specific titles that can be ported?
I'd love to play a Pokemon game on my TV again.
>AND THEN WE'LL MAKE IT 2 SEPARATE CONSOLES AND YOU'LL HAVE TO BUY THEM BOTH TO PLAY THE FULL GAME AND ALSO ALL THE AMIIBOS TO GO WITH THE SOLD SEPARATELY GAMES, AND THEN WE'LL JUST KEEP MAKING MARIO OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND THESE IDIOTS WILL BUY IT ALL HAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHA
Obviously just speculation, but the way I imagine it working is this. The home console will have higher specs like a home console would, but they'll have basically the same system architecture and OS. It will therefore be possible to play any game you purchase for the handheld on the home console. Games that want to take advantage of the full processing power of the home console may be exclusive to it, or developers might release games where the settings can be changed to be less demanding for the handheld version, like with PC gaming. Obviously you will also be able to use the handheld system as a controller for the home console.
I also wouldn't be surprised if the home console's standard controller is very much like the Wii U gamepad and is even backwards compatible with the Wii U gamepad, hence Iwata saying the system would "absorb" the Wii U architecture in >>323466472.
This would also much more easily allow for the likely scenario of Zelda Wii U coming out for both systems like Twilight Princess did with the GC and Wii. You'd be able to get a better version on NX if you upgraded but it wouldn't be required, but the game could have different graphics settings if you do get the more powerful hardware. It would function the same on both systems.
That would definitely be a nice scenario, but the thing is a handheld can hold back much more than just in graphics. Map size, number of AI on screen, network configurations is what comes to mind when I think of the difference between handhelds and home console.
In that case, games would have to be built for the lowest system (handheld) and just simply up the effects on the home console.
Obviously it's all speculation, but I sincerely hope console games don't get held back by handhelds. 15 years ago I would have loved playing 3D games on the go, but now that a large number of them are going handheld I'm sick of it.
>literally killing your system before it has a chance to spread its wings
>literally replacing it with mobile games galore + vita ports
>last remaining big wii u game is a zelda game which should have been there a year after launch
>making big money off toys and dolls so who cares about games lol
it's pretty sad how far nintendo truly has fallen
Sony didn't market the vita as essential hardware. This sounds like they will be completely reliant on eachother. I can't wait to find out the new contoller has accelerometer function.
>NX is more powerful than the PS4!
>No wait, NX is an Xbone!
>No wait, NX is a portable!
>No, wait! NX is a streaming service!
>No, wait!! NX is a handheld!
>NO WAIT! NX is a handheld AND a console!
Christ it's been 2016 for 10 days and I already want Nintendo to just get their shit out and quench the rumour mill.
Oh boy i can't wait for terrible half assed ports that no nintendo fan is going to buy because it'll be like the 8th game in the series that will probably run worse than it's original release.
then i can't wait for all third party support to drop off again because it doesn't sell
>source was literally one of those dumbass rumor threads from /v/
You people have to learn to accept that we're probably not going to know anything substantial about the NX until Nintendo themselves say something.
>Again, bear in mind that this rumor can’t be verified. Our source posted this on 4chan, and it has since been deleted.
The fact that they even using the term HANDHELD whilst discussing the NX at all really worries me a lot and it should worry you too. Defend them up and down all you want but this is a huge red flag
>we've been testing our NEW BIG TIME CONSOLE, WITH HANDHELD GAMES
So Ubisoft Bucharest is making the NX? I thought it was Nintendo.
>handheld games on a handheld
U see nothing wrong with this. Do you?
People have been speculating this for months. Also one of the main problems with Nintendo is that they can't support both a handheld and a console fast, and satisfy both audiences in a timely manner. If this is true, they can get games out faster, and the handheld/console fanbase will no longer whine when the other system gets supported.
They did, but not that much.
It was actually probably comparable to the amount of marketing the Wii U got, though Nintendo's Wii U ads early on were really shit. Nobody even knew what the fuck it was for ages, they eventually had to make commercials where they actually told you it was a new system instead of an add-on for the Wii.
>being able to run the entire mobile library on your home console
This is the first concept they've done in ages that isn't a gimmick and makes a ton of sense.
>tfw if they'd thought of this a generation ago MM3D would be playable in 1080 on my TV
>>making big money off toys and dolls so who cares about games lol
Nintendo has always treated video games as yet another form of toy. The "hardcore gamer-friendly Nintendo of the past" never existed except on the lenses of childhood nostalgia goggles.
>There's a Ubisoft Bucharest
>They're charged with porting dead Vita games to DoA Nintendo handhelds
Sounds about right.
nope. You guys ruined it first.
This is original one.
Nintendo doesn't suck at hardware. In fact, with what they have, they do some pretty magical things. Play Xenoblade, Splatoon, SM3DW, Bayonetta, MK8, and even Mario Maker (Incredibly intuitive touch controls).
There are other things you can do with hardware beyond blur and bloom. You can also make games
It is a shame 3rd party companies shit on them, but then they also shit on those companies.
Like their reasons for not having GTA on the GC was because of not wanting to project a certain image.
Then Resident Evil 4 and Killer 7 were exclusives along with Twin Snakes. The GC had some good 3rd party stuff but the Wii was a start to a bad trend.
