In all honesty we're lucky to have two mother reps, their also both pretty unique I understand lucas used ness as base but most of their moves are entirely different. Porky is the number one choice for the next mother rep. The female party member and poo had all if their pk abilities given to ness and lucas. Although the non pk party members would be cool I don't know what they would bring as far as originality, maybe duster or teddy I guess. Porky would be the best choice being one of primary antagonists and actually being able to work good. i think both DK and MOTHER are sated with just 2 characters

MOTHER ended and DK has an atrocious extended cast with zero appeal beyond DK and Diddy, though Cranky and Rambi are fine im not holding out on them being playable

DK got completely skimped the fuck out on stage locales and music though.

Magicant is THE best stage choice to sum up the MOTHER series as a whole but its succumbed to the Flying Man cancer and is held hostage on the 3DS version. the music choice is lame too; battle themes are a complete no-show

the high amount of FE shit sticks out like a sore thumb because Sakurai cant contain his cocklust for it, but i think just marth/ike/corrin/robin would have been fine

His reasoning is basically he didn't want to offend people who liked him in Melee, and honestly, I see his point. All of these are pretty silly since none of these franchises really need six reps, though I guess DK is the most deserving of more characters given it's scale and popularity, but Fredrik is such a wild stretch.

Frankly number 3 seems even more ridiculous than number 1. I love the mother games but aside from the terrible characters choices (Fucking Ninten, of all things, really?), it's such an utterly minuscule and unimportant series that I can't see it deserving more than it already has.

I'd much rather all of these have just stuck to two or three reps and then some unrepresented series get characters.

You're missing the fact that he's the OG Donkey Kong.
This is the first Donkey Kong, the one that stole peach and threw barrels at Mario.
He has the most history with Donkey Kong as a franchise, and Nintendo in general, not only is he one of the original breakout hits for Nintendo, but he is from one of the games that really led the resurgence of games in general after the crash.

Dixie might have been playable first, but she essentially boils down to Diddy Kong with hair, and Cranky Kong is more important to videogames as a character.

I don't understand how you can argue that Dixie deserves to get in more than Cranky.

Frankly I don't think it's fair to include arcade Donkey Kong popularity in with Cranky's. Most people don't even know they're supposed to be the same, to them the Donkey Kong now is the same Donkey Kong from then. Even Nintendo typically operates in such a way. The whole "Cranky is the arcade DK" thing feels more like trivia than anything that really matters.
