So I did the quest with that racist and am wondering, why did my affinity rise with Hope and Doug when I just stood there letting him shoot those Manon? Especially Hope. What the fuck did they think he was gonna do?
It's pretty much Chronicles but better in every way, although the story isn't as "HAIIII EEEEP" and in your face as Chronicles. You don't need to play Chronicles, there's just a few references at best. Imagine a really fast paced FF12's battle system combined with cooldowns and secondary cooldowns, as well as bonuses for using certain combos, as well as the ability to stagger opponents, knock them over, destroy their appendages to stop them using certain attacks, etc, and with a buff/debuff system that relies on party synergy and combos.

Pros: The region music is fucking fantastic, as is the Overdrive music, and some enemy battle themes.
Cons: NLA's music gets VERY repetitive, singing during dialogue in a cutscene is a sin, rap may not be to everyone's tastes.

Chronicles suffered from this problem and I'm kinda glad they've taken this route. The story is more focused instead of running off on tangents, for example the 5 hours you spend with the High Entia or the 2 hours with the Nopon in Chronicles. If they relegated Tatsu to a side character with no involvement in the story I'd consider it perfect, but he's always just kinda there.

After reading some of the scans from Art of Mira that people have posted here, I'm convinced the game would've been much better if they didn't include the online multiplayer and the create a character garbage. The online isn't even that fun aside from Nemesis bosses and barely adds anything to the game. All the missions are piss easy

Theres rumours that Celica was supposed to ride Rock instead of a Skell, and the art book that comes with the LE says they considered letting rock use Skell weapons. They won't be able to use that in the sequel if it has Lao as the main character like you say it will, plus other stuff like his love interest being part of the Sakuraba family and the MC's dad can't really be included in any logical way

I actually thought that he was pretty okay. The only thing is that the whole Lin wanting to eat him thing got old REALLY fucking fast, and it doesn't help that the joke is beaten over the head twice a mission.
