How the fuck did an SNES shut off during a race?
I UHHHHHHHHHHHHHH CALL THAT UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH GETTING UH MARIO KART'D UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh
This is amazing, people with voting rights pretend that they're doing something special by going up and down stairs endlessly
Fucking kappa chat has higher cognitive level than people in that room
>tell myself every year I wouldn't bother watching a gdq
>always cave in since I want to join the fun and was able to catch Crash and Tomba 2 live
No regrets those years
worst + most cancerous speed run ever in a GDQ
Half life 2 was awful, they basically invited shadow the hedgehog to run it. Mario kart 8 semeed fine compared to it.
>"prevent cancer foundation"
>mostly just put up posters that tell you to not smoke
>the money they do give to research is 40k per year for 2 years MAX
>which is in no way nearly enough to run a lab
Bloodborne for me.
>be excited for the run all week
>see at the last minute that it's pre patch any%
>see the runner
>oh god no please not like this
>runner keeps dying trying to do epic skips
>each mistake costs a 45 second load screen
>runner is boring in general, couch guest (yes, one guest) only talks about the running itself and not the game
>run finishes over time
L4D2 was pretty bad too.
Le random furry guy was something that I didn't expect. Thanks, Canada!
What's great about this one is that while the run itself was 100% concentrated cringe extract, the reaction by the twitch/GDQ/tumblr community following it was ten times worse.
did I just trigger a tumblrina without trying?
Lmao we literally saw it happen on camera. Find it yourself, nobody here has an obligation to you. Those of us who saw it can participate in the discussion, you either find it or stay out.
man that is alpha as fuck. you know he must hate her guts because he clearly saw her.
Holy shit, that was hard to watch. I hope Sonyggers aren't all like this...
Vivian is a infinity-chan creation?
I'm fucking confused.
Half-Life 2 and Bloodborne.
I haven't watched AGDQ before, was there ever another run before HL2 where someone used noclip or a similar cheat command? I know the Portal 2 run also used noclip.
after gamergate discussion was banned from 4chan by moot, Vivian adopted the infinity symbol into her hair clip design.
>guy who holds world record of SM RBO fastest run
>is smart and made backup saves for areas he may fuck up in so that he stays on time and doesn't fuck the scheduile
i dont understand your anger
Why did you even bother trying? You're desperately trying to insinuate that this charity is a scam, and you might be right, but you actually have to post something that proves it.
You might if you read my post. Backup saves fuck up the whole point of a run, safety saves would be a whole better idea if you're scared of having a possibility of not doing a certain section.
It would be a different story if it was a crash, or saving wasn't an option.
I'm not saying the charity is a scam.
It's just that the research portion of their philosophy is a bit misleading if the receiving party still needs to get funding somewhere else.
- Big Jon making up the shittiest excuse possible for his pot belly fetish instead of owning up to it.
- Final Fantasy stairs% failing horribly.
- slurpeeninja going over estimate two runs in a row.
- mitchflowerpower dying like 15 seconds into his SMB3 run.
- TMR failing blindfolded Battletoads hoverbike.
- Shadow Complex run where all they did was shill the game.
- The singing during Kingdom Hearts. They weren't particularly bad, but it just made me cringe. The woman was a pretty bad singer, though.
- TASBot's Mario Maker crap when they tried using Twitch chat interaction. Seriously, what were they thinking.
- Super Metroid chokes, having to resort to backup saves.
>- Shadow Complex run where all they did was shill the game.
You wanna see shilling, go watch the Axion Verge "speedrun". They spend the entire time talking about how amazing the game/developer are, telling you to buy it...
...Right until the Speedrunner fails and dies, then tilts off the face of the earth, dying over and over again.
kek, I wish I hadn't missed that one. The shitposting during this must've been great. The heavy breathing over the mic makes it so much better.
>Super Metroid chokes, having to resort to backup saves.
at least he had backup saves for the two parts he knew would be difficult and admitted the run isn't valid anymore because of them
>AGDQ will be running a game you love
>You watch in anticipation of some neat tips and tricks
>Run is over in 2 minutes, just skips straight to the credits without any actual gameplay
>Now the schedulers consider that game done, not represented at all for the rest of the marathon
>Singing during KH
Oh fuck, please tell me she wasn't singing simple and clean
PLEASE, I NEED THIS
Alladin was fucking hilarious and had great improv bantz between the bros. The ending was genuinely hilarious. I can't stand e-celebs or Lp'ers at all, but I'd totally watch a show if these guys did it. They had great interactions and were way fucking funnier than Pewdiepie and the shitty Game Grumps.
This and the "just play the game really well super quick" types of runs piss me off to no end.
I like speedruns, but if I want to see the whole game very quickly or just the ending without any single gameplay I'd probably just watch some sped up youtube video or some shit.
My favorite speedruns are where the runners/community figure out interesting glitches for skips or interesting combinations that allow them to perform actions that the developers didn't originally think about.
Just glitching on some staircase for 10 minutes and then getting teleported to the credits is NOT fun to watch and doesn't interest me at all. Same as watching some dumbfuck race mario kart 8 for 2 hours and winning every single race, what's the fucking point?
The gaston song was actually pretty entertaining. Rest were fucking shit though.
The opera guy has a good set of pipes but his vocal range is absolutely not suitable for that hercules song.
It's a shame, but I think the organisers either heavily encourage or outright require it becuase otherwise you'd see runs just fail.
When you're performing an exhibition you need backup saves or other failsafes. It sucks but it's all just a showcase.
That was pretty nice to be honest. I used to play SM a long time ago, so the whole showcase wasn't all that impressive to me, but that guy was great. Not to mention the fact that he full comboed it too.
No, she sang that "Let it go" song from Frozen.
Yes, it was as bad as it sounds
No, they will never live that moment down
Fire Emblem was fucking awful too. It was boring to watch.
I guess the theme for this year is Memes
I'm pretty sure there is a save function in Super Metroid. Just save at critical points during the run, so you can reload if you fuck up. Yes, that is different from using backup saves.
I love Fire Emblem, but the very notion of speedrunning a strategy game is fucking retarded. It's like putting two turtles on a racetrack to see which one can complete it faster.
>everyone shitting on Straevaras for planning ahead and having backup plans in case of poor RNG or fuck ups
Kill yourselves, noone wants to watch someone play the same game for 4 hours. His first fuck up was 20 minutes in and his second was an hour in. If he started from the beginning he would have taken 3 hours and pushed back the entire schedule.
He already holds the WR for SM RBO speedrun, AGDQ is just an exhibition to show off the strats if you want a true speedrun go check out his videos.
>TMNT 4 1p2c
>Fucks up and uses one controller instead
Nice incentive faggots
>Kill yourselves, noone wants to watch someone play the same game for 4 hours. His first fuck up was 20 minutes in and his second was an hour in. If he started from the beginning he would have taken 3 hours and pushed back the entire schedule.
And that wouldn't necessarily be the case if he didn't use backup saves, and he fucked up. There are better ways.
>Yoshi's island was any% race
>Possibly the most complex mario game speedrun was played in the shittest category
>it would be better if he didnt' fuck up
No shit, but he did. so he used back ups. He came prepared.
They raised 300,000 dollars alone for kill/save the animals. It be dumb to keep extending something people wanted to see.
Yeah, newfags think AGDQ is a competition. It's a charity event for fucksake.
Give these guys more credit. Takes a lot of effort to get out of a sperg's comfort zone.
Speedrunning while hundreds and thousands are watching is pretty much different than in basements.
Something needs to be done to make the run safe and backup saves allow for using riskier routes. If it works out, no one will even know you had a save ready and it'll be impressive. But with a marathon safe strat it's clear to everyone that it's just a boring route.
He gambled and he lost. At least he tried to show the real strats.
AGDQ 2016 was basically "the worst categories: the event".
>Any% yoshi's island
>Any% 1.0 bloodborne
>100% major's mask
>120 star mario 64
>LTTP Reverse Boss Order
>SOTN richter all bosses
>Any% pokemon yellow glitchless
and here I thought I missed out on some pasty nerd with sick dance moves, but it's just the former
I'm sorry you misunderstood that. I'm saying 2 things basically, namely that that wouldn't necessarily be the case if he didn't use backup saves but still fucked it up. So there are other ways to cope with you fucking it up.
Now you're using the fact that he's using a stupid thing as a reason for using a stupid thing. Just don't have those saves and save during the run.
>Something needs to be done to make the run safe and backup saves allow for using riskier routes. If it works out, no one will even know you had a save ready and it'll be impressive. But with a marathon safe strat it's clear to everyone that it's just a boring route.
Yes, but marathon save strats also don't fuck with the entire idea of a marathon of speedruns.
>At least he tried to show the real strats.
Still possible while being marathon save.
The worst part is that pre patch any% is literally the easiest category in the world. There is ZERO danger in the run because you just overlevel the everloving shit out of yourself before the first real boss fight and he still fucked everything up.
almost every run the last half of saturday was dogshit except for maybe mk64.
mk 8, the TAS block, alttp, bloodborne, and super metroid were all nearly unwatchable and as usual they cap it off with a final fantasy game, which nobody watches, due to tradition, causing them to hemorrhage viewers at the end instead of building up hoip right til its over.
the people in charge of scheduling are fucking retarded and too obsessed with nostalgia for past GDQs
How everyone changed their mind about the complete degenerate faggot doing the half life 2 run
>Wow this guys a faggot!
>"take my wood"
>Few losers on twitter make a big deal out of the dick joke
>This guys growing on me, truly the hero of /v/ !
Hive mind faggots
Its a guy not a woman.

Hope he enjoys the little amount of money he gains for making himself look like a freak and giving people a good laugh at how fucking cuck hes become.
Did he have a chance to save during the run? I don't know how SM works but if there was no reason not to create the safety save during the run then yeah, I agree. Backup saves make more sense for something like Dark Souls where the game autosaves all the time and anything that can softlock or crash a lot.
Pls remove sand from vagina before clicking the Im not a robot
people who advocate for change usually don't fit in the existing system, that's why they want change. It's usually not millionaires who want to overthrow capitalism, or female supermodels who think that women in sexy clothing are being objectified. When you fit in a system or it benefits you a lot, you see no reason to change it; when you have issues with a system or you are outside it, you are more likely to see problems with it. It's a sociological principle.
Can there be some love for the Darksiders 2 run? Dude basically broke the fuck out of the game. Slightly autismal commentary but made up for by the fact that he had great control over his run, without any chokes and fails.
Game beaten in 1 fucking hour man... it's a 20+ hour game when you rush it.
L4D2 "let's play."
Playing/dying on easy, admitting lack of practice, gurrl gaymer who didn't know what to do. All under the guise of being informative, and failing that.
They didn't even try to make it funny like the Adam_AK crew who did L4D on that one graveyard shift.
You could've thrown some random pubs together and they would've ran it better. Which is a shame, as an actual speedrun would probly look cool.
Even just a showcase of an expert campaign would've been way better.
Again, it would probably take more time if he went out of his way to go to the save room and save. He knew what was best, so he came prepared if he fucked up.
I don't see anything wrong in that or how he could make it more efficient.
>if he fucked up
A couple years back, Caleb did a NGB run without using any saves. Nigga didn't care about backup, he was confident enough to not fuck up. Why this fool needs to have a backup plan for a game he's been playing for hundreds of hours is beyond me. I'm not in the slightest a speedrunner, and yet i don't suck dick at the games i like to play.
caleb is on so many steroids his brain doesn't work properly anymore.
But he was pretty good during the Megaman X race as a caster.
Also i think the Megaman X race was the best, Domalix played great as Tiki did.

That doesn't matter. It makes it not a fucking speedrun. Sure, it fits with the current GDQ scheme of everything just being a shitty exhibition, but it shouldn't be in a speedrun marathon. That shit should be banned, not Touhous or swearing.
the majoras mask 100% run was genuinely fun to watch. the movement was so crisp and perfect. also i like how informative the main runner was, and how they shared the run equally between the 4 of them.
it also got me wanting to replay MM again so that's a plus.
Yeah sure if you have ADHD.
I find full game speed runs incredibly entertaining and 100%'ing Majora's Mask in just over 5 hours is worth watching, but again only if you don't have ADHD
How is it irrelevant?
He didn't want to waste people's times with saving over and over again knowing he might mess up.
It's not a competition. The runners don't always try to go for a WR, they try to show off some tech and explain why it's speedrun a specific way.
dont see the problem 2bh
dude's kinda spergy but he grows on you like herpes. i was laughing at his shit by the half way mark. if he pissed off tumblr et al that's even better.
literally did nothing wrong
>>How is it irrelevant?
I've already explained that mate. The problem isn't with it taking more time to use a backup save over other strats (lolwat, obviously a backup save is faster, hence why my point is legit in the first case), it's that a backup save fucks with the entire idea of a marathon of speedruns.
Saving over and over again doesn't waste a lot of time anyway, not if you do it at the few points he knows he might mess up. Don't go back-pedal on the facts that it was first about wasting hours and only being a few points where he could mess up either.
How would you do something like Dark Souls with marathon strats? The whole route is based on a 25% chance of an item dropping 7 minutes into the run. The only options are to grind, have a backup save, or re-route and practice a new route only for one marathon run.
Final Fantasy 1 run.
>guy runs up and down stairs for 5 minutes
>doesnt work because he lost count
>gives up and nothing happens for like 15 minutes
You cant fail harder than this.
>people saying using backup saves for SM was a good idea
No, you guys don't get it. We understand it's not a competition, but the charm of the event is to see people speedrun games and show us their expertise despite fuck ups. This, in this context, means that using a marathon path instead of a risky normal speedrun is normally the recommended way.
I couldn't honestly give two shits if some guy fucked up and decided to chuck in a "fake" run with a backup save. It's not speedrunning, it's just bandaiding a failed run. What pretty much every single other fucking runner at the event decided to run risk-free paths and go for slightly-slower-yet-more-enjoyable runs, because they know that accidents can happen and in case of death they can recover. As a viewer I want to see a legit run with deaths and mistakes and I enjoy seeing 'pros' recover and the resulting time, it helps me acknowledge the fact that speedrunning is accessible to anyone and a speedrun with mistakes can still get a decent time.
Watching some dude pull out a different cartridge with a backup save just instantly makes me lose all the interest I had.
i t s f o r c h a r i t y
Christ alive what an age we live in where people find things like this upsetting. We are truly blessed.
Yeah FE doesn't translate to speedrunning that well. Low turn count is a better, similar challenge run considering it can be done on the highest difficulty rather than playing on easy just to speed things along.
The charity is also shit, so whatever.
>Doesn't matter if you don't know DS, it's only an example.
I also don't care about that. We were talking about another game. If those strategies don't apply, then I guess don't run the game? Again, fuck if I know, not really my problem to make something marathon save.
>Watching some dude pull out a different cartridge with a backup save
This proves you didn't even bother watching it, it was on the same cart, saved he had prepped beforehand.
I don't care what your autistic view is of what "should be done". By the end of the day, it is an event with a schedule. The backup save was necessary, because otherwise he'd just start from the very beginning again. If you want to see people reset a ton, why not visit their streams and watch them play, I don't know why you would watch a GDQ and expect a ton of resets and no backup saves.
>This proves you didn't even bother watching it, it was on the same cart, saved he had prepped beforehand.
I admit I didn't watch it because it was at 5am in my timezone, I read in this thread that he pulled out a different cartridge so I went with that. I was planning to watch the speedrun later but when I heard about it, it pretty much killed my interest.
I was just trying to sum up what >>323465687 had been trying to say and give my insight on what I think.
>By the end of the day, it is an event with a schedule. The backup save was necessary, because otherwise he'd just start from the very beginning again. This makes me think you didn't read my whole post. I'll reiterate here, normal speedrunners at these event run "marathon strats", which means less risky and slightly slower paths in the game which take in consideration the chance of dying and fucking up and still provide a reasonable estimate time not to go overboard. There is literally no reason why you couldn't save in risky areas in SM without needing to use backup saves. Zero reasons.
Just giving my (and many other people's, apparently) opinion on the matter. I don't care if they follow it or not, I'm not in charge.
The speedrunning part
>Now watch me not enjoy this game (created to have fun with, mind you) as much as possible!
fuck you for devising something more pathetic than MOBAs
* TRIGGER WARNING *
Explain this, /v/irgins
No shit you idiot, but he didn't use it. Thus he would have started from the beginning again, had he not prepped a backup save. He was trying to demonstrate the route they used for this category, by not going out of the way for safety saves. There would have been literally no difference whether or not he safety saved, or just used a backup. At the end of the day, his run failed because of the death. There never was anything "legit" about his run, it ended as soon as he died.
Hey dummy, you can't shit on someone for not watching it and then spew out misinformation.
On his first death he went to Slot 3.
Later in the game he died again and swapped out a different cart.
>No shit you idiot, but he didn't use it. Thus he would have started from the beginning again, had he not prepped a backup save.
So use it? Marathon strats?
>There would have been literally no difference whether or not he safety saved, or just used a backup.
Okay, so just use a safety save then. Problem solved.
Anybody have a link to the Bloodborne run? Let's get this over with
>which means less risky and slightly slower paths in the game which take in consideration the chance of dying and fucking up and still provide a reasonable estimate time not to go overboard. There is literally no reason why you couldn't save in risky areas in SM without needing to use backup saves. Zero reasons.
Or, you know, in the event that he didn't die, he would have went faster than if he did a safety save. He also accounted for dying, by making a backup save. Which makes his run no longer legit, but the time of the run doesn't matter when you already fucking lost the run anyway.
the fact that anyone cares about it.
>He also accounted for dying, by making a backup save.
Shit account, considering it fucks up the run. Might as well just use console commands or something. Actual routing would be better.
>He goes and saves at every single save point there might be an issue with
>wastes tons of time, might not even need them
>don't waste minutes of time saving everywhere
>if you die you just go back to exactly where you would have safety saved
>nobody but autists give a fuck
besides the former wasting way more of our fucking time
>>He goes and saves at every single save point there might be an issue with
>>wastes tons of time, might not even need them
I thought there were only a few parts that were risky?
I was not the one that said that. Please learn to quote if that's your only issue.
This is not a competition. There is no "losing", it's a fucking show for charity. Viewers want to see a legit run of the game and they don't care if it's world record or not. Cheating by swapping a different cartridge or loading a pre-made save is nowhere different from using some shitty noclip cheats or using a modded ROM with some specific cheats to skip stuff or provide god mode or whatever.
We want to see legit runs. We don't care if you take 50 seconds longer to make a safety save, it just makes you look even more 'human' because you realize you can fuck up. It actually provides an even better insight in the game by showing viewers that even pros can fuck up and need to take countermeasures for it, it gives us checkpoints in the game where we know it's hard even for good runners.
>Shit account, considering it fucks up the run
The run was already fucked from the death. What do you not understand? In any other normal situation, he would have reset and started over anyway. Fuck you're stupid.
Time for donations
The difference is exactly what you said. If you have to resort to behind-the-scenes backups and not care about any risk when you're running the game, it takes away a massive chunk of humanity, interest, risk and potential for mistakes (which are always interesting to watch). If at any point in the game you can just pull up a backup you made yourself at home with "lol nvm I was joking, here gamesave" it feels like cheating.
By using safety saves and planning a less risky run through the game you actually show more prowess at the game, more insight and knowledge about the intricacies of a risky speedrun and you have to consider tradeoffs between risks and run time, do you want to make an extra safety save and take the extra 30 seconds? Or do you feel confident enough to pull through knowing 100% for sure you won't die at this particular point in the game? Shit like this is why it's interesting to watch these live runs, otherwise they could just show us pre-recorded videos of "perfect" runs with commentary on top.
>where we know it's hard even for good runners.
Fuck off, as if hearing the couch say "THIS IS A REALLY HARD TRICK COMING UP" every fucking minute in every run isn't indication enough.
It's also a fucking show for charity that is UNDER A SCHEDULE. Fuck that dude for wanting to keep his run well within his timeslot. As others have said in this thread, it's embarassing when that one guy went over his time slot in both his runs, and wastes everyone's time.
I think that guy was legitimately autistic. He didn't even try to make the run entertaining, and at the end, he didn't really seem to care that he had wasted fifteen minutes of everybody's time.
Then, as a consolation, he started droning about what was supposed to happen, as if anyone would give a shit at that point.
Oh boy, let's do this. Thanks anon
The amount of shitposting and so many times it wasn't even remotely talking about the game. Also there's too many "cringe" and "banned" faggots. It's like the memes and drama mean more to you than the runs and video games.
You should be ashamed of yourself /v/.
>It's also a fucking show for charity that is UNDER A SCHEDULE. Fuck that dude for wanting to keep his run well within his timeslot. As others have said in this thread, it's embarassing when that one guy went over his time slot in both his runs, and wastes everyone's time.
You could just include the risks in your estimate. You know, like every other game in the list.
>It's also a fucking show for charity that is UNDER A SCHEDULE.
You do realize estimates are abundant as fuck already and they already take in consideration fuckups and marathon runs with good windows for mistakes? I mean, that's literally what every other speedrunner does, they plan marathon paths accordingly, they time their average, they submit a runtime and add some extra 10-15 minutes (or whatever) time for technical issues and other possible problems that might arise.
How is SM any different from any other marathon-run game? We're talking about a 2-3 minutes (at best) different from swapping a cartridge...
What were some runs that were so astronomically bad that I could pick up their speedgame now, practice over the year and be in that chair next year showing them how its done?
>>I enjoy seeing 'pros' recover and the resulting time
That Plague Knight race was the highlight of the week for me; the air control in that game is just nuts.
>mfw the guy on the left fucked up, nearly died, and lost the lead so many times, but still managed to take the win
BT running TOB was pretty good but the glitch not working did get embarassing when he was just repeatedly humping a wall telling us he should pass through when it didn't look anything remotely like he would pass through. He ultimately saved it though and it wasn't that bad.
wow... this is just... not fair... man
>It's a charity event!
I wish people would stop saying this. If you've watched GDQ for longer than two or three years, you'd realize that it was a community-driven event for years before it was a fundraiser for PCF and MSF. It's disrespectful to the runners and community members who made pre-2014 GDQ a magical event. What people fail to grasp is that modern GDQ is literally a business. It's a registered limited liability company in the state of VA, complete with corporate insurance and a lawyer. PCF allots up to $167,400 in wages for 19 staff and volunteers, pays Mike Uyama (who is still "sick" and refuses to talk to the community) a cut of the amount raised by AGDQ (upwards of $100,000), and pays for a large part of the event expenses out of its "fundraising" budget. GDQ profits off of these events, and it's Mike's, Matty's, and Sumichu's job - none of whom speedrun at all anymore.
They disrespect and mistreat the runners regularly, making little to no exception for people who are harmed by GDQ's own incompetence. They enforce politically correct atmosphere at the marathons and present a fucked-up vision of speedrunning by putting runners on a stage and completely removing any sense of community. It sucks to see your friends, who are wonderful people who could make GDQ fun again, get up on that stage and sit silently because they're not even sure what they're allowed to say.
PCF is a first-world scam and GDQ misleads its audience completely as to what they are and what they do. Forget lying about raffles (you don't need to donate AT ALL to win them), forget avoiding mentioning that subscriber money only goes to the charity two months out of the year, or that PCF is a U.S.-based charity.
If you think they're being honest about their "great cause" with their terrible track record, get a fucking clue. After the last ESA, Cool Matty straight up said to the organizers of that marathon, "You need to pick the charity or the community."
For the record, a lot of runners have been telling GDQ to ditch PCF for years. MSF was chosen by popular vote in 2013 before SGDQ. PCF has been AGDQ's charity ever since Mike was contracted by PCF and then DISAPPEARED a year later. They've promised "discussions", and we get nothing.
I wish more people knew the facts about this glorified convention, but even those are locked away in random threads on SDA, across years.
By the way, Romscout was fired and SGDQ is being run by the same people who run AGDQ. Have fun this summer.
GDQ stopped being that long ago, it USED to be speedrunning nerds getting out of their basement, showing their face and playing on stream for charity. It's now entirely populated by some random Twitch whores who don't even have the record on the game they're playing. They do it for attention and self-promotion, nothing more.
It wasn't on stream. Some guy here on /v/ somehow found his profile on grommr or whatever, which is a site full of gay fetishists. He had a bunch of unlisted Youtube videos there showing off his belly and shit. It was pretty bizarre. After all that surfaced, he wrote a pastebin with a shitty excuse about it being some bet he made during college or some shit.
Here's one video someone ripped: http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=1oalq0%3E&s=9#.Vo3yq7YrIdU
Nothing worth linking to, I'm on my phone. Basically, after ESA 2014 (2013?), Cool Matty posted his own feedback in the general feedback thread on SDA. There was one point where he said that an event needs to figure out its identity and pick one or the other: charity / professionalism (ESA raises less money) or community.
It was just a hint of things to come really. He's also said that his primary concern is "keeping the business afloat so these events can continue to happen" in the open apology to the GDQ community. It just as shows where his priorities lie and the true cost of GDQ growing to this size.
>or that PCF is a U.S.-based charity.
This pisses me off the most honestly. The event is being broadcasted on the internet, attended by many non-americans and donated to by people from all over the world. And the money goes to some tax scam-tier charity that hands out flyers to Americans. It's fucking disgusting to be honest.
No, Matty is an idiot and ignoring him was the right thing to do. They asked the community if they should keep the charity thing going and most voted for it, so they'll keep doing it on the side.
>thread about opinions on AGDQ
>post opinion that is actually supported by also other viewers

Sorry I'm not following your retard logic, I would really prefer if you'd just be quiet.
