Sup /v/ I just got a semi-decent rig, recommend me good vidya. Except for the Wicher III I haven't played anything since new 2012
Grim dawn now or in february, Dragon's dogma, The motherfucking Talos principle, Crysis one because it still shits on many games and The vanishing of Ethan carter to push that new shit.
I smell jelly poorfag, yes? Too poor to afford decend gear, yes?
Not that guy but you got a i7 when there is little benefit for gaming from i5 then threw money at nothing on a "gaming" motherboard and proceeded to gimp yourself with a GTX970 when the money could have been better spent on 980/980 ti instead.
No one is jelly, you're just uninformed.
If you aren't planning on changing your GPU for Pascal next year and that's the reason you went cheaper with 970 then you dun goofed.
>got an R9 290 some weeks ago
>works fine, even thinking about getting another one and a 144hz main monitor to go even further
>reminds me I would have to buy a new case aswell
A shitty overpriced, ugly looking case I might say.
Im thinking about tacking all the components under my table but Im not sure if this is a good idea.
No one is getting btfo. It will still work for games as intended. It just isn't optimal for what he could have done and will require upgrading early on.
He could still get some use out of that i7 if he uses it for other non gaming CPU intensive purposes but I highly doubt it since he then went ahead and got a gaming mobo. That shit is just a waste of money especially if he won't exploit its features. If I could spend any amount I wanted I would get a "gaming" motherboard just for shit and giggles but not if it meant having to get a weaker GPU.
>i7 over getting a better GPU for games (not saying the i7 is bad, it's fine)
Did you testfit that headset?
It looks nice and getting rid of the mic completly is nice but COME ON!
If your head isnt a square cube that thing will just fall down whenever you move a bit.
What, you think he should've gotten one of those fucking stupid $100+ CPU coolers that barely does the job better than the 212? That's one of the worst memes in high-end PC's these days.
It actually does, see;
Since Haswell, they've fucked up cooling/overclocking big time - for example a D15 blows the 212 away now, whereas the D14 used to be not that much better during Ivy/Sandy.
Maybe they did a deal with the cooling manufacturers, who knows.
>MSI, Gigabyte bottom
The fuck is this shit?
Intel is better in general for emulation. I don't know for i7. It's main advantage is hyper-threading. If the emulator in question uses hyper-threading to its advantage then sure.
>Call people Poorfags
What's the Matter? Can't afford Liquid Cooling system?
And then I have to buy all the games again on top of that.
I'd rather take the whole library of those consoles (give or take a few) plus through emulation you can increase resolution rates on a lot of games too.
Pny is best. They have LIFETIME WARRANTY
and they are the only makers of quadro cards because nvidia only trust them for the quality
Battlefront didn't work for me in crossfire, so I ran it on one r9 290 at 1440p res ultra settings, and it was still smooth at like 50-60 fps. And this is one of the best looking games.
Or I can just emulate it all, I have the money.
Mistype - I meant TIM - which means Thermal Interface Material.
Basically since Ivy Bridge, Intel have been putting shitty thermal materials in their CPUs (which can be fixed, but wouldn't recommend it for newcomers) - this leads to shitty overclocking and thermals so you need better coolers to cool them.
Please stop acting like you know what you are talking about.
Nah brah. I'm serious. I run 4k all the time and that's the standard frame rate I get on just one fury card.
Have you used one?
Not that guy, but I bought 2 before the 3.5 jewery came to light.
That being said, I haven't run into many situations where it's a problem.
Could be that I go for 144 frames at 1080/1440p instead of 4K res though.
>Buying a Mother Board that promotes World of Warships
Just overclocking and full load possibly.
Also just type Ivy bridge (or any other arch.) and TIM into google if you want more details.
And don't get me wrong - the 212 has, and still is an excellent cooler - but if you're buying a fucking unlocked i7 you want a top overclock surely.
Any modern game that's GPU intensive. AAA games, mostly. GTAV and Max Payne 3 are cool because they actually have a meter that shows how much VRAM you will need as you tweak the settings. Think Witcher 3 does this as well.
Oh, we're talking motherboards. Sorry, I thought the topic was 970 GPUs.
Why would they call the mobo a 970? I have a pic related, and it's fine.
Depends on your resolution too. I couldn't play Shadow of Mordor at 1440p with the highest textures even with 970s in SLI
Well, I guess I could play it, but I want 144 frames per second in my vidya, so it felt slow when I couldn't hit that mark.
my G650 seasonic shit the bed 3 months after I purchased it and had to go for RMA.
PC wouldn't turn on after you shut it down unless you wait for a few hours or fuck around with the power button and PSU switch until your get the right timing.
Funnily enough my shitty ass bronze coolermaster PSU has a better power switch at the back. If you slowly try push the switch it quickly snaps to the other side.
Meanwhile with seasonic it doesn't immediately snap and reaches half way unless you press it with enough force for it to snap into the other position.
Should've gotten an evga 600W for half the price.
It takes a special situation to make your card go over 3.5gb of vram.
The pic in >>323444835 is one of those situations. The player purposely sat on a very high position in assassins's creed unity and just looked down at the npcs. The card is then forced to keep rendering wandering npcs to fill the screen until it goes over 3.5gb of ram, and then it craps itself.
Normally, Assassins Creed Unity would never have to go over 3.5gb of ram, but it can happen. And that was done all in 1080p.
>calling gigabyte motherboards garbage.
What kind of retard village did you come from?
I've always bought Intel CPUs but I've always been aware of AMD as well.
I guess I'm one who researches everything though.
Especially when an upgrade is due - I will check every form of component in my price bracket, I don't care about brands/manufacturers in that sense, just models.
I.e. I avoid having a viewpoint/bias.
he's gonna be loving that i7 when he logs on and realizes there are no games to play.
that's why you see AMD builds. people are paying for what they'll actually use.
what is the 970 down to, 250$ now? is it a piece of crap or what? it's a mid-range card.
dude, but MSI has MILITARY GRADE COMPONENTS! they make mobos for the PENTAGON or something!
come to think of it I don't think i've had an MSI motherboard. I only remember ASUS and Gigabyte
I only recommend the 9590 because it is around 2-10% slower than most i7's but in real world not slower at all.
But only $230. You could save the $50 and get the 8350.
Most people recommend i5/i7 that are $300+ with no improvement for anything any gamer would do.
Intel already released their new CPUs for the most part, and they are a downgrade in several areas. Which I think they are meant to be.
The best bet is waiting to see the new GPU's by both companies, and seeing what AMDs next cpu is.
>people crying about CPU/MB/GPU
>running out of hard drive space
>cant fit my Vietnamese Cartoons and Shows on anything that isnt above 1.5tb
>2TB hard drives are $105
>worried i wont be able to install it due to the fact that my PSU is pretty weak as it is and it just wont work or my games will run even worse
>guy just asks for some games
>he even said SEMIDECENT not exceptional
>all these retards jumping because they have to justify to themselves the hundreds of extra dollars they paid just to play their games
the powers that /v/
Anyone still using a 2600k? Mine just refuses to die so I can never justify upgrading my motherboard to a newer architecture.
I don't know shit about PC building, what is "meme gear"?
He's not bragging he just posted a pic of his shit while asking for games. He explicitly said semidecent. Why do you have to get so insecure about it as to believe he is saying "HAHAH LOOK AT WHAT I CAN BUY AND YOU DON'T"?
so the 970 is a shitty card? I understand the 3.5 meme and that the 390 is probably a much better choice for the price/performance but really? A shitty card? It can run most games with high settings @ 1080p and is more than a hundred dollars cheaper than the 980
Popular components that are generally not worth getting. Sometimes they're just popular and overrated, but in the case of the 970 it's a very popular product that is definitely not worth buying at this point.
Because they're cheaply built poo poo.
>watching friend go through 3 Razer mice in 3 years
I do love how the thread went on to the regular /v/ hate everything mode, truth be told I got this set up for a stupidly low amount of money like 800Euros the whole thing along with 120gb ssd and a 2tb WD HDD. Not why I made this thread though. Funny how no one even bothered recommending games
You guys are literally worse than reddit when it comes to pc stuff.
Why would you build an expensive PC without having a list of PC games you wanted to play already?
>XD get le memelake and a 970, my wife's son loves them so much they're le best!
Oh man that keyboard is absolutely horrendous. You really shoulda picked something better for that and for the headset.
No its a good thing that he didnt go with a topre memeboard. He is better off in this logitech garbage than to be overpaying for garbage bumps
This config goes for about 1200 euros where I lived. A friend of mine just happened to buy wholesale hardware so I got it from him paying the prices he paid hence the price.
Every 970 that Nvidia sells now makes them a happy happy jew when they drop the Pascal next year without having to reduce the price of their current cards yet. Plus they get to fuck over the current gen of cards when they release pascal.
>Average quality components
>High price tag
I don't know, Anon.
I got the exact same GPU just about 2 months ago.
The cooler is really damn quiet when it runs.
But I'm exchanging it for a new one with 6GB when AMD releases the 400 series and they're good.
not him but to be fair I got an msi 560ti with a shitty rear fan that they didn't let me rma. The fan got to the point where it wobbled so bad it would partially unseat the card. I could still play games with it like that but with horrible artifacting and polygon stretching unless I opened up my case to seat it again.
They're the same price as all the other goofy Ti editions out there. But it does have a pretty high stock clock, and can OC decently enough.
Though there's even faster cards out there.
