Excuse me? SEES hated each other. Hell, one of them even caused the death of another member and another one flat out tried to kill another member over jealousy. Friends don't do that shit to each other. Only the Persona 4 group are real friends and that's why so many people like them Mitsuru,Akikoko and Shinji were the worst friends to each other ever, often stewing in their own angst to give a damn about others.

The point was that they started the game kind of not getting along but there was gradual, genuine build-up of friendship.
Early in the game, their chemistry definitely feels out of wack and they don't seem to entirely feel comfortable with each other. It's a little over halfway through the game where they really start to seem like they're getting along (and then Shinji's death fractures that), and they're definitely all close friends by the end of it.
Compare to the Investigation Team who are all just best buds right off the bat.
