I literally spend entire days fiddling in character creators.
BUT WHAT IF MMO WHERE YOU HAVE TO HAVE A FIRST AND LAST NAME????
>Spend an hour listening to the voices
>Finally pick the one I like best based on the editor's samples
>Start the game
>Makes some dumb chirp whenever you jump
>Need to remake my whole character
If I just have to name my player character then I just use my alias, but if I have to name multiple party members or Pokémon or something then I sit there for like an hour trying to figure it out like in OP's pic.
>spend hours making waifu
>start and go in-game
>in-game lighting makes her look like shit
>choose a name
>choose a hair style
>choose a face
>choose a class
Well apparently it is because it's never taken ;)
>mfw there are a billion Vietnamese faggots with nguyen usernames that all vary
>Making a female character when you're a man
>Picking an orc or an elf instead of a human
>Picking a cool hairstyle when you have a long, greasy mess yourself
>Picking a nice face when yours is messed up
>Picking Wizard or Fighter as your class instead of Vagrant
I seriously hope none of your do this.
I thought everyone grew out of the 'Hello, fellow villager DICK FACE!' NPC speech phase once their balls dropped?
If there's no default or random option I'll just use Jim, being a James IRL. What is it that makes people spend years staring at a slider for how far apart your character's eyes are?
I'll spend hours. And even then after I've played with that character for hours on end, if I find a flaw in my character that I don't like then I'll restart. I hate myself that I do this, but I can't really help it.
Blade&Soul is coming out in 9 days and I already know that I'll spend half the day customizing my characters while everyone else is having fun exploring and learning the game.
Fuck, why can't they allow us to download the game and mess around in the character creator beforehand? No gameplay, name reservations or server selection. Just allowing us to mess around with the sliders would be fantastic. I've never been a presets guy.
Here are mine.
For names, I just use my online alias, which is just a lame combination of my first and last name so it's comfortable to me.
I tend to make characters look like me so there isn't much of an issue there. I feel bad sometimes though as I always pick the most generic races (human).
What I struggle with is classes. I like agile characters but I don't like being dick ass thieves. I live swords but I don't want to be a paladin. If it involves guns and shit I have no fucking clue as I have no sentiment towards any sort of gun type.
I really wish I was creative and could role play just for the heck of it. Instead I just project myself onto the character.
Singleplayer: Just use my own name
MMO that requires an alias: I have a username that is two words so can do Firstname-Lastname
Class: A usually always go with a mage-build for my first playthrough or, if mage either isn't an option or is a clearly bad choice, a dexterity based build.
The real difficulty setns in when it comes to customising the character model. I can spend hours doing that.
I'm the kind of faggot who has no sentimental attachments to anything.
You don't need to have attachment to it, just pick randomly. The color of your shirt right now, the first thing you see when you look out the window, the specific material the floor in your current room is made of, whatever.
I'm not because I got real porn nowadays, but people fap to the weirdest shit and this seems quite reasonable.
My first reaction is "Why bother when there's better stuff out there?" but when I think about it there's probably something more to this that people enjoy. More power to them I suppose.
Can we all agree on something here? Sliders are a lazy character customization feature disguised as an amazing one. Typically it takes the place of more customization options like hair or clothing. Look at MGS5. Oh cool, you can control how high and wide your nostrils are, but here are three hair types and this character will never even come close to looking like you.
Now if it has both sliders and good options for everything else, of course that's a good thing.
>make male character
>just make some random dude
>make female character
>every part of her aesthetic must be perfect
>collected thousands of pictures of models and stuff on amazon
>know how to get to the zoomed images just by lurking the source code
>fap day and night to stuff like that
I know your feel, anon.
When I make a man I usually try and do something completely different every time, I don't want something boring or something that looks anything like me so I try and make some kind of character.
When I make a woman I just end up making something I think looks cute.
>Ilasa (male character)
>Fere (female character)
>Asilafere (female character)
>Asaileref (male character)
I'm such a genius I'm not sure why more people don't do it.
>create male character
>always try to make them goofy as fuck with blue skin and disproportionate features
>create female character
>always create my perfect ideal woman with shoulder length red hair, freckles and light skin
>end up maiming my female character because want to play dress up
I can't be the only one
>end up maiming my female character
>anon just wants to play dress up
>his female character refuses too
>he gets extremely angry
>goes on a rampage screaming at the top of his lungs about how much of a stupid whore she is
just wanted to play dress up baka desu senpai
>He thinks he is the character
>use the main nickname
>use the random names I came up with for another MMO earlier
>google: female japanese names
>I don't really like it
>first and last name
Only had to do that in DDO.
>first name of one of my favorite characters
>some random Japanese last name
>Get game, good stuff been waiting to play
>have hard time picking class, everything looks interesting
>Finally decide on something after hours of fiddling with the creator
>Play for an hour
>"I wonder how that other class would do in this spot, I'll just create a character and check it out for a few minutes"
>play for an hour, repeat with other classes
>get bored of the game due to replaying the same thing several times
>no will to play anymore, never touch it again
>the best hair styles are locked behind a paywall
>it's one of those shitty jewish rental things where the hair style lasts for x amount of days only
Well, hair styles don't last forever in real life.
I've been using the same username everywhere for ten years now.
I should probably change it, but I'm too attached to it.
>all those new generation kids who incorporate the latest memes in their usernames like senpai or donger
I'm pretty sure they blow through a bunch of money with username changes every few months
>shoulder length red hair
>freckles and light skin
The hair used to be longer but I changed it up recently
>One name is just a common English word I used as a username for a random site when I was in grade school
>The other name is an unpronounceable feminine name (I'm male) that I made up a few years back as a joke in an MMO guild
Fuck, I need to think of some new character names
>Have a nickname (an animal) one of my school friends gave me
>Have a name of a character I made years ago that's just a short verb
>Animal's always taken or too short
>Just add the other word or even the initial
>Hasn't failed me or been taken for at least a decade of usage
Having two completely unrelated words as a main name is pretty useful.
