I just bought 3 months of EVE Online for 9.99. I have no idea what I'm doing. Does anyone on /v/ play it? Willing to give some tips and tricks to a newfag?
TIPS AND TRICKS
>everyone out there is trying to scam you or steal your stuff
>trust no one
>if something seems too good to be true, it is and you should probably run away
>never fly anything you can't afford to replace 5 to 10 times over
>don't be scared of lowsec, but be extremely EXTREMELY cautious with it
>before you go into dangerous situations, imagine what you lose if you get killed. if it would be painful, don't do it, at least not at first or on your own
>don't mine unless you specialize in it and get good gear and skills. everything else is just a waste of time better spent doing something else
>if you decide to pirate and ransom people, always honor the ransom. don't blow someone up after they've already paid for you to let them go
Other than that, I can't think of anything glaring
Don't fall for the /v/ spreadsheet memes, the game is really fun
I've never gotten an adrenaline rush in any other game like I've gotten in EVE
If you're interested, hop over to EVE Online General on /vg/ and ask for a trial, they'll give you a better trial than what you get on your own and if they're not an asshole you'll get some good starting money
Cocaine was cheaper, and probably more entertaining, anon.
I remember my first solo roam into low sec in just a frig but with all T2 fittings.
Ran into another frig and solo'd him and his buddy cruiser he came flying in with.
Gave me such a rush and it got me promoted in my corp to Lt.
What kind of game are you looking for, OP? If you want solo and small gang PvP you could try Faction Warfare. There're mechanics in place that stop bigger ships from coming along and squashing you, although you will have to face faggots in overpowered pirate and navy frigates.
Yeah, it's been a while since I've touched EVE. And I did not finish that free month either.
Now I'm gonna sit here and wonder what race to pick. How hard is it to fly other races ships later anyway?
Well to "change race ships" you'd have to train that racial ship skill and the appropriate gun or weapon system that goes with it
So if I went from gallente to Caldari, thats pretty easy since Caldari and Gallente share weapon systems, so if you have the gun skill trained already you're good to go
but if you say, go from amarr to minmatar, you have to train the minmatar racial ship skills and then you'd have to train projectile weapon systems.
don't listen to retards choosing a race is all about what your inner RP desires and how you want your character to look, the initial starting skill towards the race you choose can be skilled up in a few hours, you can train for anything no matter what you pick.
