I'm somehow addicted to the Ganglion Skell battle theme
>first time hearing this
>think my Wii U is chewing up my disk
After clocking in 50 hours, I finally got a Skell. It's pretty neat, but the transformation could control a little better.
>Transmission from Bates under attack
>Make me choose a direction so he can retreat from Cauldros.
>West or South
I figure Sylvalum is swarming with Ganglion but at least West he can escape through the sea.
Fucking hell. I was doing so well in missions with life or death situations.
I CANT FIND FUCKING AURORAN BONES FOR THE LIFE OF ME
>medium/heavy skells can't turn for shit
>light skells can't go straight
It's just one of the game's weird quirks, like how you can land a melee attack through a wall 30 feet away from the guy you're fighting.
here is where you sent him, no kidding the west from where he say he is goes straight to Phosphorous Lake
getting the kitties to the city also involves getting your ass handled to you by delicious cat
I love the Nopon in this game. In any other game they would be the cute mascot characters, but instead most missions involving them are all about how they're huge dicks. Like, all the other Xenos tend to get along within their own race, while the Nopon are fighting, backstabbing, and even faking pregnancies and committing adultery.
Why does everyone have a fan fic they are writing?!
Why is his family so much better than Tasu? Hell what makes me mad is that it seem Takahashi wants the Nopon as his version of Moogles. But Tasu just makes everyone just groan when him and Lin talk to each other.
Also the female Ma Non
That place needs to be closed down forever.
Nope, sorry, you'll have to deal with your collection of over 500 thousand tank tops or learn to depart yourself from it forever. I'd say only keep the upmost tier of tank tops you currently have (Supreme, Ultra, etc.) and sell the rest.
The Orpheons need the plant to sustain life, which puts them in a bad spot if something happens to it.
I don't 100% hate it but them beating you over the head over Lin jokingly wanting to cook Tasu gets old fast. Even in take a long time between story missions. There are a few funny lines here and there but it's a bit of a mess for the most part.
I don't know the difference, but I told the Caravan Chief to go to his gramps, and the girl Nopon seemed the prefer that outcome. I wasn't going to send her to the old pervert when she's the better leader.
>oh man am I actually going to have to fight this asshOh never mind
I dont really like her, but I liked that. He was talking all kinds of shit that he couldnt hope to back up and deserved that and more.
I beat the game about a week ago. I enjoyed the story, but the ending was a little open for my taste. Here's my crazy-ass take on how it should have gone:
"It's something about this planet!" Elma says. A familiar voice is heard, saying "You are correct, as always." Elma appears surprised, turns and says, "Who are you?!" Camera pans, revealing Alvis from XC1. Alvis says, "Sorry for the inconvenience, but I needed the Homs race to be self-sustaining, so I transferred their consciences to the core of the planet. There's a virus in the universe, I don't have much longer." Elma says, "What are you talking about? Did you destroy the Lifehold database?" Alvis continues, "I had to accelerate my plans. I have already chosen one of the Homs to reign once more. The time of gods is returning." Alvis then glitches out of existence, leaving a confused Elma standing alone.
Cut to Cross embarking on a mission with Lin, traveling along the cliffs on the edge of Primordia. After a brief conversation, Lin shouts, "Hey, what is that!" Cross narrows his/her eyes, and the camera cuts to a scene eerily similar to pic related. Roll credits.
I don't like her though. In fact, personalities aside a lot of the females in this game aren't that cute except for human Elma especially with those white rimmed glasses on her.
no. but he/she is not the top of the food chain in the world anyway
>just to be clear, this is fake
Thanks anon, couldn't have done it without you
it has less health and is at a lower level, probably has less other stats too
but I don't think telethia has as many big nukes such as dark ray and supernova
he might just be saying how yggralith zero is stronger than telethia plume, or how yggraliths eat ether though
This fucker's gonna attack me again isnt it
I love this game to death, but man the sidequest stories are fucking trash. All the aliens are lame as fuck, with shit designs (except for the Wrothian and Nopon, but then they just straight up dont fit in), and half the god damn missions have you doing something with one of these retards.
Sounds like I'd get some good lore out of it so I'll put this quest on the backburner until I can beat him. I have a feeling a 60 Dragoon Lance would probably fuck it up or at least be useful but I dont know where the blueprint is.
>My 4 lvl 30 Skells wrecked
>Don't want to grind
>Don't even know how to use Overdrive efficiently
>Try to arrange some skills to do lots of damage and build some TP
>Wreck the whole chapter like that
I was disturbed at first but then I remembered deaths have no consequences because fucking mims, they shouldn't have gone with mims and just had everyone be in their normal bodies.
>>Don't want to grind
you have to. you need at least 2 lvl 50 skells if you dont want to cry once you enter the life hold cause
Mid boss has 2 phases that reset his HP an last boss spawn minions.
also once you enter the life hold you cant exit it till you beat em. even if you die. you start in the LH again
Beat the game anon.
>you need at least 2 lvl 50 skells
how shit are you? I had one level 50 wels and the AI either on foot or in my old level 30 wels. And I still did every fight but the chimeras and the first phase of the last fight on foot
I'm still shocked that Nintendo had such a shitty year but still put out some of the best games of the year (Splatoon, X, and Mario Maker).
I really hope Takahashi keeps up the open world stuff. I thought I hated open world games but X proved that it was just westerns that fucking sucked at it.
So i can make myself a draw. OPENING-DMG XX.
But im thinking since i also already found th Draw.OPENING-DMG XVIIII maybe instead i should make MYSLEF 2 Draw.OPENING-DMG XV instead and just stack the three together instead.
Anyone got any thought on this? Or should i just grins out anothe XX one instead?
>but then I remembered deaths have no consequences because fucking mims
Finish the story
how about don't fucking gut the plot halfway through your dev cycle and leave the remnants scattered randomly throughout the world with zero relevance
also the chucklefuck that thought that needing to go to each individual character to add them to your party was a good idea should be fucking euthanized
Something to spice up the combat a little bit. I'd probably say make auto-attack weaker but you can do a basic attack relative to auto-attacking whenever you press a button. And the ability to manually dodge attacks would be cool with like rolling or diving (besides arts)
better invertori management system
being able to filter shop by Arm Manufacturers
using the game pad to FORCE party member to use arts (basically) you see their arts on the GP and rather than press A you tap on em for em to use it)
I am using a build based off of Mastermind, here is how I Overdrive:
With three minimum team members alive, enter Overdrive with Smooth Recovery and Repair's second bars filled. Start with Repair to give Smooth Recovery time for the tertiary cooldown, then use it twice, but not thrice. Comboing out of repair, it'll get a double count bonus and give 6-8 to the counter. Repair twice, smooth recovery twice, and keep that up until around 40, where Repair will keep the timer about at a standstill and Smooth Recovery will add tons to it. From then on, Overdrive's duration should be easily maxed out. Having secondary cooldown reducers on armour makes the window of opportunity for artsing a little more lenient.
If I need to refill my TP, I'll do Gravity Blast (yellow ranged) or Beam Barrage (yellow ranged), followed by Myopic Screen (purple debuff). The amount of TP refilled is (Overdrive Counter*10)*3. At 50, it'll recover 1500 TP. At MAX, it'll recover 3000 TP. It's a shame that the only Tension Arts I keep on hand are Recuperate (aura: regen + evasion), Full Specs (aura: ranged attack power + potential), and Ether Blast, which I'm seriously considering swapping for Beam Bomber when I eventually unlock it.
Also, hilariously, with the maximum 5x cooldown speed from using Repair and Smooth Recovery to reach maximum overdrive on top of Secondary Accelerator and the armour buffs, I can just keep spamming Gravity Blast because it's an Immediate Reuse type. I look forward to finally getting Topple Length Extension skills.
Skells appear in cutscenes
>alright we're fighting this mech the size of a building, let's hop out of our skells to talk for the cutscene and then hop back in
Better characters and better interaction between them
Party member AI isn't garbage
Did I mess up the difficulty by picking Full Metal Jaguar? I recently got Overdrive and I'm OP as fuck now, sometimes doing 30k damage per overdrive and everything just melts as I spam backstab and shadowstrike
The combat's definitely my biggest gripe with the game. It's way better than it was in XC, but I still find it bland.
I realize this is a bit out there, and wont ever happen, but I would fucking go never stop playing this game if it had a combat system more like Monster Hunter, along with more integrated co-op.
Seriously, a mixture of X and Monhun is like my fucking dream game.
If the same setting as X, MAKE USE OF ALL THESE NEAT ALIEN RACES FOR PARTY MEMBERS. Even if they're optional and don't affet the plot much (think Sharla in XC; probably could've left after a bit without affecting jack shit)
>Prone beastmaster who excels at physical attacks, endurance and can command indigens. Higher level enemies are harder to take control of and require stuff like using Dominate spells while they're toppled but with enough set up and care you can even take over Tyrants temporarily
>Zaruboggan debuffmaster. Uses voltant to inflict every shade of nasty on the enemy, uses gorkwa to remove debuffs from teammates and convert it to healing or even into buffs. Benefits or is at least immune from poor terrain and weather (ie EM storms and poison ponds provide regen etc)
>Sexy cat lady because why the fuck not
I think he just really hates how waifu crazy JRPG has become. To him Japan isn't as good as he wants it to be. They have basically became static and unable to move forward. I mean JRPG was just western PC RPG like Wizardry and Ultima and with a Japanese twist. But he felt western games evolved while JRPG is just stuck in the same place. X to him is just the next evolution. Where Dragon Quest is to 80's RPG X is to today's RPG.
Here's what I did to rememdy the AI.
I swapped part positions to play as whatever character I felt was underpowered, played as them for awhile testing builds till I felt comfortable.
L now wrecks as my hybrid dps/support.
Still working on Elma though.
They seriously dropped the ball on that. This is has fucking bad as when Final Fantasy 12 had nothing but humans (And yes I count the bunny girl as a human).
>mfw running isn't an option for most fights because you get sniped by some random move every monster seems to have
God name i hate some of these monsters and their magical ranged attacks
Who is the best character in the game and why is it Lin Lee Koo
A smaller, more cohesive party with better interactions and banter and the ability to switch teammates on the fly like in Xenoblade.
A Wrothian and Nopon party member.
A way to make Skell combat more engaging than "everyone spams attacks on their own and hope for cockpit mode", like attacks that combo into one-another to synergize better with teammates. Maybe bring back chain attacks as a mechanic for both skells and ground for easier combos.
Better normal online missions, the world nemesis are the only ones that are any fun once you reach level 60.
A way to expand/see fully what the shortened text describing effects on gear says other than having to go into the upgrade effect menu of the AM terminal. Seriously, some of them shortened versions are nothing more than cryptic gibberish.
I like most of the music. The tracks in NLA, except for in the barracks are so bad, though. Also, I don't hate the song during Skell flight, but I'm definitely deterred from continually landing and ascending to the skies again because hearing the first 20 seconds of it on repeat is also awful.
Yeah, I entirely agree with you on everything you said.
I fell in love with the flight theme, thought it was the raddest shit at first, but hearing it over and over really gets tiring, especially considering flight is the optimal way to move around.
>getting out of range of a fight and having the music stop/battle menu disappear etc
>5 projectiles catch up to you and harmlessly crash into you
Too fucking close every time
I almost forgot; KEEP THE MOVEMENT SPEED/MOBILITY FROM X. I'm playing Chronicles 3D and holy fuck, it feels like I'm swimming through molasses.
Keep skells but use enclosed areas/untraversable-on-foot-areas to provide opportunities for areas that are balanced around being on foot/in a skell (ie in an area where you're meant to use skells, you need to make use of binding a lot more, you shouldn't be able to trivalize an area)
Basic attacks would kill it, I think. I already have enough on my hands wondering if I should wait for the secondary cooldown or just use something right away, and soul voices keep me on my toes often enough.
Auto attacks are already weak as balls compared to any art. Why would you make them even weaker?
I'd rather see an art priority system than actual party control. Use these arts less often, or these arts more often. Use this the moment it's available, use this when it's got its second cooldown only, use this as you see fit...
It might be kind of neat to see AI learn or something from the kinds of commands you give them, like Pawns. Like, I want to be able to flip through and tell Elma to "ATTACK FROM THE SIDES!" or "AIM FOR THE BACK!" and be able to eventually figure "Oh, I should probably use these arts when attacking from the sides, and when I'm using this aura, move to the back to use these arts."
>overdrive ruins ground combat
I don't see how. It's almost never worth the TP drain unless you're going up against a tyrant or a whole pack of enemies a few levels higher than you, and Overdrive doesn't necessarily mean you aren't going to get two-shot or wombo comboed if you pick your battles poorly. Also the number of people who actually understand how to Overdrive and how to take full advantage of its quirks are pitifully few.
THE ABILITY TO RECONNECT ONLINE FROM IN THE FUCKING GAME INSTEAD OF HAVING TO BAIL TO MENU TO RECONTINUE.
THE ABILITY TO LEAVE SOULS-STYLE IN-WORLD MESSAGES.
AN ACTUAL FUCKING CHAT ROOM.
PERSISTENT SQUADS WHICH PEOPLE CAN MAKE, NAME, SIGN UP OR RECRUIT FOR, AND RETURN TO WHEN THEY GET BACK INTO THE GAME.
MORE DETAILED ITEM LOCATION DETAILS - IF YOU FOUND THE GAME IN WORLD ONCE, THEN IT WILL TELL YOU WHAT PART OF THE REGION, INSTEAD OF JUST THE REGION, INSTEAD OF HAVING TO ASK NPCS OR JUST RUN AROUND HOPING FOR THE BEST. MAYBE COLLECTION QUESTS IN PARTICULAR COULD MARK ITEM CRYSTALS RED.
That would have been SUCH a simple thing to fix, too:
>Flying activates by pressing jump while in the air, pressing jump on the ground just makes you jump normally (that way you can immediately take off by simply double pressing jump)
>The flight theme only kicks in if you go so far off the ground, like how the ocean theme kicks in if you leave the coast.
>distract/sneak past monsters
There's augmentations for reducing enemy sensory range.
You can use Elma's shadowrunner art for a couple dozen seconds of running through a pit of enemies with none of them detecting you at all.
Youre fucking genius.
I had a hard time trying to think of a theoretical fix to it, and couldnt think of something satsfying, as I wouldnt want to ditch the theme. But damn. That's so simple and elegant.
>like Pawns. Like, I want to be able to flip through and tell Elma to "ATTACK FROM THE SIDES!" or "AIM FOR THE BACK!"
man full metal jaguar is wasted on AI as the whole fucking class is based around positioning and melee to range / range to melee comboing
The Lifehold Core didn't actually hold real people in stasis, because that would have been an impractical mode of transportation and limit the number of humans saved. Instead, 20 million human consciousnesses were digitized and stored in servers, and samples of the DNA of every living things on Earth were gathered and stored in a device capable of decoding and manipulating said DNA as to give birth to practically any living creature from scratch The Ganglion are artifically-created slave laborer for the empire of Samaar, their Samaarian masters hardcoded something in the Ganglion's DNA that makes Samaarian DNA extremely toxic to them, making sure the Ganglion would never rise up against them and spill Samaarian blood. Humans are actually descendant of the Samaarians and their DNA still holds the power to destroy Ganglion. The Ganglion feared humanity and decided to blow Earth up from orbit. Elma knew the Ganglion would one day come to Earth and decided to devise a plan to try and save humanity, giving them access to technology far more advanced than their own. She's the one that gave us schematics for Skells, light-speed travel ark-ships, the DNA machine, etc. It's unclear why Elma cares about preserving humanity so much, but it's possible she's just an Earthaboo
Some way to actually coordinate your party members. The AI for them is just awful and adds an artificial layer of difficulty to the game (not calling the game difficult). The first game also had this problem but at least I had some opportunities to control the other party members during chain attacks.
Also remove that stupid 30sec timer that forces you out of the battle if you die, there have been several instances where I could have won if not for time going out a second before I was about to win. Better yet, give me the option to switch to another character if I die.
The mims' consciousnesses (other than Elma's) weren't being streamed from their real bodies like everybody (but the higher-ups) though, but instead it was streamed from the consciousness database of the Lifehold. Or so it should have been. Instead, it's revealed the entire database has been completely trashed in the crash, and is non-functional. It seems that the data is then being streamed from Mira itself. Mira's an odd case to be sure, for one thing, none of the alien races brought there against their will like the Ganglion, Humans and basically anyone that isn't a Nopon or L seem to know WHERE the fuck in space IS Mira. Also, despite having workable ships capable of space travel, none of them can LEAVE Mira. Those forcefields you see in-game aren't merely game-related invisible walls. They're real, and no one can get pass them, not even time-traveling Professor B. It seems an unseen force is manipulating all these races and people to learn and co-exist together for some reason. Who or what that force is and what its true purpose is remains unexplained. It seems to be the same phenomenon that is translating everyone's languages. My theory is that that force is Alvis, but that's merely speculation.
maybe an Man-on specialized on long range attack
and that failed clone Orphen that wants adventure as fuck
Nopon still a shitty race.
its an example, you got the drift, giants dont care for ants, but something bigger, is worth kill
I still wonder why only L is the only one of his race we encounter.. and he is supposed to be a MIRA native. not like the other race that were brought in the ganglion ship
Alright but then who were the aliens that the Ganglion were fighting over earth?
First the story said two alien forces were at war and Earth was just caught in between, but later it is revealed the Ganglion were hunting humans on purpose.
So who was the other alien space army?
He does. He just doesn't wear them, which is sad. It means the only way to see them again is to put up the holofigure, but I felt weird doing that once I looked behind his glasses and discovered that his eyes are literally just 3_3. Also it would give the little potato a lot of ego to know I kept his figure up.
>So who was the other alien space army?
Probably Elma's people, trying to stop Samaar/the Ganglion. Elma did seem pretty resentful of the Samaarians in the second Goetia fight.
Seriously it's obvious a lot of the plot was cut out/is missing, there's a lot of, I wouldn't say plotholes, but "blanks" in the story that failed to be filled and makes the whole thing pretty confusing to grasp.
how did no one mention that we're all robots
and why do so many people freak out when someone dies? I understand they may never see each other again but no one entertains the idea they have a equal chance of survival
>and why do so many people freak out when someone dies?
Because they haven't found the lifehold yet. No lifehold, no bringing people back, and only squad leaders like Irina, Lao and Elma know that the countdown's a doomsday clock. Plus there's the chance that the Ganglion, with their superior numbers and flight tech, could find the lifehold first and bypass its defenses before the humans could secure it.
I can tell you how the plot would have ended with 100% accuracy.
Either Elma or some unintroduced character would have been the last of the Samaarians. The Samaarians come back, maybe using the Lifehold biocreator machine and the human DNA. They start being big assholes, probably enslaving or killing all of the other non-Samaarian races on Mira, so the humans have to rise up and fight off their ancestors to save the other races and probably the universe. The humans might have even worked with the Ganglion. This fits in with Takahashi's love of the "the being that created you is/became evil so you have to rise up and kill them for the greater good despite your affiliation" theme. I am 100% positive the end would have involved humans vs Samaarians. L is recycled Alvis and is the embodiment of Mira or some shit. He probably brought all of the aliens crashing to Mira to satiate his "thirst for knowledge" or some shit. However, if the ruins in Cauldros were Samaarian, then maybe Mira's consciousness knew about/was created by the Samaarians and brought all of these races to Mira to try and stop the Samaarian threat. Note that L using "we" as a pronoun was a translation addition. He says "I" in the jap version. Also there would be some shit about "The Samaar" being God, in that it came from a "different plain", and assumedly being unable to live in this reality, created life so that it could remotely "live" through living beings in this realm. This would tie a conventional idea of God and the soul to the game's overarching theme of remote consciousness and what it means to be alive. Living beings would be like robots and their sentience would be controlling them from a different realm of existence just like the lifehold computer controlled the mims.
There were PLENTY of hints up to that chapter.
>the "doctor" who "fixes people up" is a technician outside a building called a "mimeosome maintenance center"
>Elma tells you that your senses will need time to "reactivate"
as a Psycorruptor, you gain an art called "Repair" and another called "Full Specs"
>there's a quest that tells you to show off the full capabilities of the Mimeosome
>Hope's recruitment affinity quest has a woman walk up and ask if "these Mimeosome bodies can conceive"
The purple aliens are called "Ghosts" in the Secret File Art Book of XCX. Yeah, It's pretty obvious a lot of the story was cut halfway through development & resources were shifted into the gameplay, online & world. You can tell Monolith did their best within the time they had to rewrite the story and make it as good as they could.
are you serious? Phina was heavily traumatized and had to quit BLADE, even if she got her real body back her mind is still messed up. Grette will wake up and the first thing she'll remember is getting skinned and dismembered, she's gonna be doped up on psycho meds for life
>Alright but then who were the aliens that the Ganglion were fighting over earth?
They're called the "Ghost" in the short stories. They have technology that can phase through matter; they left antimatter cores on the white whale which Elma's partner disposed of before disappearing into the void of space.
gotta hunch that that guy was supposed to be the original protagonist before he was scrapped for the custom made avatar. Or it was his father & you later inherit that Skell he uses in the intro.
Alright I'm absolutely clueless here.
When should I use the gun, when my sword?
Cant even compare damage numbers because the sword is a big swing and my rifle goes rattattat.
Anyways there are two types of arts. One that builds up when you are using range and one that builds up when using melee. So it's good switch them around to keep up the arts.
Sniper rifle has an art or two where you flip it around your body for multiple sick trickshots.
Back off with gun when you want to get less aggro and not deal with close range attacks. The trade off is that you generally get less TP though unless you fuck with augs or use specific arts. Also ranged weapons have a reload period.
Melee generally has better damage and TP gain in its auto attacks but this is not guaranteed to be the case depending on your build, but it also has greater aggro gain and puts you right in the enemy's face ready for its fat cock to smash your jaw.
With me in particular I just use knife when I want to get secondary cooldowns on my buff/heal arts and my aura arts, or need quick TP gain since ray gun is shit for that... for now.
Is the hint in Hope's recruitment mission before you after you would have to go to Cauldros? I did this mission quite a bit after finishing Chapter 5, so I didn't think anything if the "can mimeosomes conceive" line. If you can get to Cauldros before you start Chapter 5, you probably deserve the hint.
Depends which arts you want to build the secondary cooldown for. All your arts are tied to your weapons, some build their secondary cooldown when you have your melee weapon out, others when it's your ranged weapon. Using your weapon's auto-attacks also builds TP. Melee weapon usually go slow but give big chunks of TP per hit, while ranged weapons usually go fast but build very little TP per hit (with exceptions, obviously)
Once you max out a class branch (say, go all the way to rank 10 Duelist), you can use that class branch's weapons with any other class, allowing you to mix-and-match arts.
For example, after maxing Duelist, I started to build toward Full Metal Jaguar while still using my Assault Riffle, that way I could use FMJ's dual-sword Shadow Strike art to inflict Stagger before using the Riffle's Assault Hammer to inflict Topple.
It's mostly what you spec to. Certain builds want you to switch it up, others you can lean heavily on one while merely supporting with the other.
It all depends on what skills and arts you are using.
>You definitely can. Its not a pleasant trip, but you can
this, you can get to all regions (at least the start of a region) at any point. exploring it is a different matter tho.
What I mean is is the line about
mims birthin'delivered before or after you would have to make that shitty trip?
You can pick up the mission after Chapter 4, meaning your PC would hear Hope talking to the other NPC about
mims (and whether or not they can conceive)well before your arm gets blown off.
Getting anywhere at any point isn't particularly difficult, just time-consuming
Since exploration is so enjoyable in this game I really didn't mind the trip
swimming from Primordia to Sylvarant was not fun though, fuck swimming
So do classes even matter much early game? I know I should max one branch first, but I can't decide which I want to max first.
I'm kind of leaning towards Duelist, but it doesn't seem like it has much utility
duelist is the most balanced. one
the advantage of mastering a class is that you can use the class weapons without needing the class set. that means that after you master more classes you can mix range and melee weapons different from the class pre-builds.
Not REDUCING cooldowns.
Engaging SECONDARY cooldowns.
It'll cool down once, then you can use it. It'll cool down twice, and then you can have added effects on top of that. Switching weapons in the middle of a secondary cooldown will halt it until you switch back.
They matter in that by the time you start maxing a second branch, you may have a difficult time since you'll be less adept at using Arts from that branch, so you'll have to keep the weapons from the old class around to get you out of tough spots that your new Arts aren't so good at yet.
At least that's the issue I've been faced with. Maybe I just to to used to Duelist.
Although I'm just now getting the hang of FMJ rockin' the Orphe Evade Plus gear but still using Assault Rifle so I have 2 Taunt Arts, Evade tanking shit more than 10 levels higher while my 0-hearted lower level comrades take forever to kill it.
yes, but I mean, Duelist is Rifle + Long sword, and Full Metal Jaguar is double sword + double guns. if you max both class you can use the weapons without hte class
so you can go Double Sword + Riflle (and the corresponding art for each weapon)
also any skill you unlock on each class can be used on other class after you max out hte class
Dude, what? I finished that quest before I was half your time. He hangs out at first in the industrial district, at the back of the place right before that huge area with Lin's Heart to heart in it. Then you get a completely unrelated quest and he's like, "Oh yeah, sorry about not paying you." Then you get the goods.
For more indepth instructions, see >>>/vg/xbcx/
With the Barracks' music going on each time, too, it has a very cheesy sitcom or saturday morning cartoon feel to it. It's a refreshing mood lightener after the fake-suicide/murder and actual suicide missions.
So I keep hearing people say that they bad TP gain. I still know jack shit about the game so would it be best to avoid until I actually know how things work?
If that's the case I might just go duelist
How fucking shit are you?
I only had a level 50 Inferno and 3 level 30 skells.
Unless you have shit luck and get zero cockpit-modes, I don't see how one couldn't solo the whole thing.
Shop filter by company.
Party selection from the barracks instead of
finding every single fucker in perso every time
More playable aliens
Better tracking for item quests
Skell exclusive levels (in space/underwater/aerial...)
More believable cutscenes, aka if your character is just chilling, eating or being cured in a medical tube, maybe remove its fucking full armor and helmet. Likewise, keep track whether the party is in Skells and have that affect the cut-scene, especially when three Randys think they can take on 4 mechs with their little pea shooters.
More vehicle mode variety for mechs.
Maybe have some that can morph into combat vehicles, destroy natural obstacles or fly better than Skells depending on their nature.
More NLA defense bits, from either Ganglion or Tyrants
Division-only bonuses and missions
At least let Tatsu use his father's shades for fuck's sake
>destroy skell 3 times by falling into the bottomless pit in Oblivia trying to land on the small platform
>Finally make it
>Needs 5 mechanic skill to activate the probe
Well I feel like an idiot. What level should I be before doing chapter 9 for the flight module? I'm sitting at 30 at the moment.
>I'm sitting at 30 at the moment.
I was near 50.. being overleveled for the the last chapters makes em relatively easy, but that is better than stress the fuck out for being mauled
I'll level up more then. I'm more interested in having everyone in my team in a skell than I am in the main story.
Another thing though. Where do i get more storage and research probes? I have a million mining ones but not much else.
Imagine underwater exploration with xeno fishes and sea monsters like in Subnautica; that and beautiful seabed "landscapes".
Coupled with some really comfy music.
That would make a great use of all that water too.
>spend all my time doing side missions and upgrades and shit
>get detonation flail
>barely able to fight some tyrants still
>well I should probably finish chapter 12
Man the scaling in this game is so out of whack.
So anyway, do we ever find out who the fuck the co pilot in elma's skell was? I remember early on somebody mentioning it was a dual cockpit or some shit and started to talk about the other pilot and got cut off. Was it leon?
Some horror segments wouldn't hurt either.
They always work best in non-horror games.
We hole-hardedly agree, but allow us to play doubles advocate here for a moment. For all intensive purposes we think you are wrong. In an age where false morals are a diamond dozen, true virtues are a blessing in the skies. We often put our false morality on a petal stool like a bunch of pre-Madonnas, but you all seem to be taking something very valuable for granite. So we ask of you to mustard up all the strength you can because it is a doggy dog world out there. Although there is some merit to what you are saying it seems like you have a huge ship on your shoulder. In your argument you seem to throw everything in but the kids Nsync, and even though you are having a feel day with this we are here to bring you back into reality. We have a sick sense when it comes to these types of things. It is almost spooky, because we cannot turn a blonde eye to these glaring flaws in your rhetoric. We have zero taller ants when it comes to people spouting out hate in the name of moral righteousness. You just need to remember what comes around is all around, and when supply and command fails you will be the first to go. Make our words, when you get down to brass stacks it doesn't take rocket appliances to get two birds stoned at once. It's clear who makes the pants in this relationship, and sometimes you just have to swallow your prize and accept the facts. You might have to come to this conclusion through denial and error but we swear on my mother's mating name that when you put the petal to the medal you will pass with flying carpets like it’s a peach of cake.
Does advancing the plot, with the chapter missions, lock you out from doing any of the other missions? Was going to just burn up to getting a skell and then chill and immerse.
>flying through primordia
>see a level 66 tyrant
>laugh my ass off beacuse i got a areas 90 and gonna kill her
>hmm, why is the music so different?
>out of fucking nowhere she summons her own skell that is lvl 97
that is one of the end game ultra bosses.. AKA. you cant just 1 shot it with area 90, the others are Telethia in Noctilum, Pharsis in Sylvalum, Headless emperor in Oblivia.. and I think is ultra bullshit there is not one for Cauldros
Can someone write down the lyrics for every song? I can't make out 80% of words in every one of them. This is how I hear some (might have skipped some lines since I haven't played in two days):
WUM BADA WUM WOOOOOOH SEE THE SUN GOTTA SLAM THIS WUN
oooh diggity pa pa rappa pappa parri-poo and I said hooooooooo~ I can't hate you I can't stand you I can't hate you I can't stand you
*insert some fat man fapping*
>That one song that plays over every happy moment in cutscenes
TELL ME ALL YOUR DREAMS, THEY'LL FIND YOU, IT HAS JUST BEGUN (???????????????????????)
YEFAA YABA DE BABA DE BA YEFAA DABA TAPA TA TAM TA RAPA TA TAA TAM TA ROOOOOOOOH~ (????????????????????????????????????????????)
Don't worry about the future it's all right
because a better picture we can find (wtf)
just like our dreams they gotta be free so (what's they)
anyway let's move on (is it even ok to use the word anyway in songs?)
said you loved me many days ago, don't worry about those things inside your shoe (??)
just come today, come in every day,
OVER THE RAINBOW GLORY ASIDE, IT'S LIGHT IN OUR DREAMS AND OUR HOPE WILL ARRIVE
OUR OTHER SAINT'S FROM ANOTHER WORLD, WE DON'T BELONG HERE ANYMORE
LOOK OVER THERE IT'S GOOOOOLD MINE (wtfffffffffffffffffff)
WE CAN BE A SPENDOR DON'T TAKE THE SORROW BREAK FOR TOMORROW (what's a spendor)
>Had a save file that was about level 50
>Grinding up before the last mission
>Go full retard and forget to switch NNID before starting a new game
>Don't want to play it anymore
knowing how this game went im sure the second you entered the water you'd turn into a blue-marine looking thing and a piece of SawanoShit will start blaring, which will undoubtedly start with heavy synth and heavily autotuned vocals that will say something along the lines of "INTO THE DEEP BRUE SEE I CANT SEE WHATS IN FRONT OF ME"
Not that guy, but is there an aggro system in this one?
I thought it was only possible with Taunt Arts considering thats the only time I ever see any indication of whos being targeted.
Melee draws more aggro but there are aggro arts too. I actually hate them because you can be in an area fighting one creature and suddenly a AI will use trash talk and suddenly 10 enemies comes out of no where and attacks your group.
I'm level 40 and my skell is level 30. My party members don't have a skell. Can I beat Chapter 9 boss?
On the note of the languages being automatically translated thing.
Near the end of the game tatsu says some weird ass shit(something about wanting hon hons or some shit) that when spoken back to he doesn't understand.
Is it starting to malfunction? Or was that just a joke that tatsu is a fucking idiot?
He stares at the camera all ooey gooey like "hah, I bet you thought we were going to reference the first game in this right? fuck you"
its just a nod to the first game and a fuck you to the player
>90% of elma's shit is positioning based
>game makes a big deal out of the whole positioning system
>AI hardly showcase it
>AI fucks up their own bonuses
Basically all AI are good for is buffing and debuffing and mashing skell buttons.
iktf. I know they're in the caves but it took me ten laps of beasts lair to get one. Which I submitted to the collectapedia putting me back at zero bones. I took the bones gathering mission on my first day and still have it unfinished a month later because I cbf to spend half an hour running around circles in a cave.
thats because it is out of place gibberish. The first game references in this game are actual shit
>hurrdurr lets just put monados everywhere
>hurrdurr lets make the worst character in this game the only one who randomly vocally references the first game be the worst character
>implying I don't frequently use online features of my wiiu from sm4sh to mario maker to mk8 to even this shit
>implying that doesn't mean needing an up to date console
I might consider homebrewing my wii but even then I have no SD cards so I feel the point is moot.
Speaking of this, from what I understand riki was a nopon from the first game. Was he the only nopon? And if he was a decent character why is his entire race save a few other individuals gigantic cunts and/or retards? Barring le happy merchant meme they just seem useless. And even L can be a merchant that sells useless random crap he decides to make.
wtf is this bulky tank shit am i playing Metal Max?
For anyone who isn't sure whether to make a one or two piece bunnysuit, here's a comparison between the two.
he wasn't the only nopon, you're right about his race though. basically every other nopon sucks and the reason why they are so skilled at commerce is a mystery, maybe its because there are no other dedicated traveling tradesmen on the planet.
nopon are pretty useless in X
In Xenoblade nopon had a whole slew of personalities underneath their cutesy appearance/talk. You had scientists, drug dealers, lazy pieces of shit, etc.
X has this too on a smaller scale, but the one you deal with the most is Tatsu and he definitely poisons the well. I really wish his mom got more screen time/was playable, she seems gutsy and much funnier.
>that fucking mobile fortress in chapter 10
I get the impression I was supposed to run from it given the context of the cutscenes and how the objectives were always pointing away from it.
But I fought it anyway and won.
You can have her "equip" something else while in the gear selection menu, as in show it on her model but not being able to equip it.
Longsword was one of the weapons that showed the most back, which is why I chose it.
Once you're endgame, it's the same for every battle. Even the 90+ bosses, you can't afford the battle to last too long because they start spamming constantly so you need to end it in the first few hits.
Sucks. I miss the feeling for fighting a tyrant while listening to Uncontrollable and EX01 for mission bosses. With infinite overdrive, it's just been Wir fliegen or nothing at all.
It's not that they aren't varied.
It's that as I said, they're all retarded/cunts bar a very few select of them. Just different shades of it.
>mfw tatsu's siblings are LITERALLY too stupid to recognize him.
>mfw tatsu in chapter 5
>mfw tatsu in chapter 6
>mfw tatsu in THAT fucking affinity mission
Agreed, especially compared to how the first game handled its superbosses. You'd be listening to You Will Know Our Names for a fucking time thats what, and it was great
i hope you're not talking about THE affinity quest where he
goes to cauldros for no reason
From what I've seen, while there are literal cunts and jews in Nopon, some are "lovable" jews that are actually friendly.
it's like you forget the vision override music
>just used a G2Buster for the first time
Holy shit this is the best thing ever
>mfw have to find cure for a nopon
>gathered all the usual materials
>then he claims not enough
>need a material from the fucking endbringer of all creatures
>all to cure a bellyache
Where can I get items for building the ares frames?
nigga I can only get to 56000 max with all my storages linked
Also, how do I get more research probes for tobias' quest? yes, im at endgame
You can get like 110k storage with this one
>it's like you forget the vision override music
I never used Shulk outside of story missions once I got Fiora in the team. Dunbdan/Fiora/Riki were way more fun to use.
In X, you really only have one way to play. Massive damage, quick kills and overdrive forever.
It's the equivalent of having a Chain Attack track in Xenoblade.
its actually just straight worse statistically than the normal G-Buster
the aoe effect that it has is useful basically never when you consider your other aoe options like the Phoenix.
Besides the regular G-Buster, E-Scythes and Drones are also both better picks for that slot
No it isn't. I've chained all my storage. Getting something like 100,000 storage, 100,000 miranium and 300,000 revenue.
The main aim is to chain a Duplicator with a Booster G2x2. That will boost everything around it (2 other chains) massively.
Revenue is not storage.
It does. Best place I've found for the storage chain is the start of Oblivia up to the 4-forked node where you'd put a duplicator and 2 Booster G2s. If you get more boosters, you can chain backwards into Primordia since the nodes are all trashy.
>Storage - Duplicate - Booster
This. The duplicator will duplicate the booster, amplifying the boost around it. If you add another booster next to the duplicator, it will amplify even more. I think it's exponential but haven't calculated. It is a shit ton though.
You'll never miss any quests. You just get alternatives. Either way, you'll "miss" something. It doesn't really matter though since they don't have an impact on the game outside of the mission itself.
>walking around oblivia
>walk into the place with the arches
>wow cool look at that big arch imma go toward it
>this giant fucker comes out of the ground and eats me
Isn't the nemesis kinda just an excuse to farm tickets anyway? Not like there is some hidden cutscene there or something?
>Side cast full of unique individuals with their own motivations, backstories, and personalities
>We are perpetually shackled with Lin and Tatsu (and the blank slate known as Elma)
>Can't go on main story quests with Frye, Murderess, and Yelv
I figured these things were some sort of automated Ganglion defense fuckbot? They are stationed around the world, but some of them are just parked in Ganglion bases.
Would be a lot cooler if they were some sort of Miran Telethia though.
It's not just her. There was a huge battle between the Ganglion and another race near Earth at the beginning of the game and it's never stated explicitly what that race was. Assuming it was Elma's, we didn't really get an explanation as to why they want to protect humanity. Though I assume it's just to face the Ganglion.
Lana Nara or Mara also mentions that, when watching the footage of Elma's expedition into the Lifehold core, some people were actually talking French and Japanese.
You guys are saying this like the ending changes anything. They still have the replication bullshit. They just need to figure out a new way to move their conscioussnesses from Mira's bullshit magic into real bodies.
only the Ganglion race have the human allergy weakness right?
how many of them show up in X then. There's Luxaar for sure then maybe Goetia. It kind of sucks that the race that has an actual reason to want humans dead barely shows up and instead has an army of space orcs and robots.
>doing old affinity missions
>go find these parts from your pod zone
>3 level 50 Omevas
>the leader is a tyrant
Lana Nara or Mara also mentions that, when watching the footage of Elma's expedition into the Lifehold core, some people were actually talking French and Japanese. You have that wrong, when they were in space they caught those transmisions
So of the first available level 30 Skells, which is considered the best option? I went with one of the medium ones for myself/ I need to decide on what to give the AI.
Would they be better off with Heavy ones due to defense?
Is there any real benefit to using Light myself other than driving speed? Does evasion make that big of a difference in skell combat?
Sorry for all the questions.
I use Verus (strong, comes with a powerful weapon that can actually let you restore more fuel than it uses it seems) as my personal play ones. It's electric-based.
There there's an Amdusias named Bloodedge. Pretty much just a melee build.
I have a Mastema named Eyecatch that is simply loaded with Taunt weaponry.
And lastly an Inferno I've yet to build.
Judging from the differences in these skells, I say no, it really doesn't matter much. Your skell weaponry is what matters most.
Inferno drives like shit. Verus is the best mech for travel.
They can probably move their minds, the problem is that the place where the back ups were saved is gone and as the Yelv missions show the mims are perfectly capable of holding the entirety of their mind, so yeah, if they do die its the fucking end
Straight lines are the best method of traveling.
That's why I said the Inferno first.
If you have a wobbly Skell, you can always turn by keeping up pressed in the left stick and moving the camera instead too.
>have to get some blue electro stuff
>drops randomly from Douguill
And all the quests where you have to get X and I have no idea how to get them.
>3 star mission
>have to kill a boss 11 levels higher than me.
>6 star mission ( 1 golden and 1 normal star)
>kill monsters 6 levels below mine.
I don't get it...
Yeah the world geometry sure is set up so you can go in straight lines from point A to point B without flying. But drifting is fun on its own and after you get used to the initial sensitivity, you won't wobble anymore. Also who doesn't like bunny mechs?
Say, about the twist of the mims and what actually is in the Lifehold Core, there is something people seem to forget and that only Doug and Lao talked about
That everyone on Mira is a copy of the people on Earth and that their original all died without understanding why they had not boarded the White Whale, that means that Lin died on earth without understanding what the fuck was going on while her best friend Elma went on to another planet with her copy
>Required level 58
>Easily destroy the lvl 60 ballsac spider
>Get a loveheart from Elma for doing that
>Have to fight two lvl 80 sphinxes
>destroy my level 50 skells before I can kill one
>My almost infinite topple overdrive just gets me killed by the other one.
Do I just need to get lvl 60 skells for this?
I just started playing this game the past couple nights. It's beautiful and fun to explore, but the combat is kinda functional and meh and the presentation of the narrative is pretty wank when you've just come from playing Witcher 3. Plus, why are there no audio settings? The music is mostly terrible and blares out over cutscene dialogue to the point I had to put subtitles on.
>continued conscience makes you feel alive
>all the people consciences have been digitalized and uploaded into robots without any downtime
>they don't realize the difference because it was a flawless procedure
>their original bodies and conscience died while a 1 to 1 copy of everything kept in a chunk of metal is stuck on a different planet
They are basically already dead but not really.
They can also create biological bodies and transfer their conscience into it
So what side quest responses should be remembered?
>DO NOT TAKE A SHOWER
>RESCUE BROTHERS FIRST BEFORE SON
>REMEMBER WEAKNESS TO FIRE
>OBTAIN YELLOW SMILEY FOR BOMB DEFUSION IN HANGAR
>BREAK UP CONFERENCE
>RETRIEVE ORNAMENT BEFORE TALKING TO CATGIRL
I have the same problem with music during cutscenes.
Since Lin seemed like a tank to me, I tried skilling her like that.
>She is shit at tanking
Also when some groupmember pulls adds.
Elma was pretty mediocre written but I would ravage her Mim and
her true formso fucking hard there would be nothing left of me that could be considered human
>DO NOT TAKE A SHOWER
Did anybody ever fall for that one? I mean, it's telegraphed as fuck, the whole base is infested with
people turned into monstersand you have to take a shower right in that very moment? Seriously?
I thought it was obvious too
>HEY LET ME WALK OFFSCREEN JUST AT THIS VERY MOMENT AFTER YOU SPENT THE LAST MINUTES FIGHTING MUTANTS WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG
I just wonder how they worked since they are robots and all
Yeah, I've been trying to find people that did on YT, and haven't had any luck, same with the end of chapter 9, I haven't found one that offers to give the benefit of the doubt at the end
The mims are supposed to mimic Human behavior as close as possible, so everyone can continue with their regular lives.
So they probably have organic elements inside them to facilitate some things, which the Cantors managed to get advantage of.
Why does everyone use that fucking hair style on their female characters? There are others that look way better.
Oh I remember now, it's where
Lao is in that Tank in the Maintenance centerright?
I gave him the benefit of the doubt and Doug agreed, said something along the lines of he should atleast have a chance to explain himself.
>Imagine underwater exploration with xeno fishes and sea monsters like in Subnautica; that and beautiful seabed "landscapes".
>Coupled with some really comfy music.
>That would make a great use of all that water too.
Sawano has made really comfy music when you're out in the ocean
If you want your party to do positional shit, you're gonna have to focus on taunting the monster and moving around it, but that's so much more effort than just doing the damage yourself.
I wonder how many people actually know you can play as any of your companions
But it just makes the quest easier, it's not life or death like the others.
On another note, what are some game breaking art set ups? I was fucking awful with this in XC, and the only thing I really use arts for is to activate Soul Voices. I keep seeing Ghost Walker + Offensive Arts thrown around, like this. But I'm not seeing the best way to use them.
>save son first because I assume that whoever I don't save first will die horribly because Mira
>given the option to use the kepha holly
>no idea how the fuck my character knows to use that plant in particular
it looked like the avatar was throwing some fecal powder or some shit
Fuck, I'm on this quest right now. No doubt that would be the best path. Seems kinda funny though that to complete the quest you can either kill the level 99 Telethia or just talk to the Orphe again
>tfw can't give bunny suits to males
The build you posted is probably the best I've seen around. Guide below for those interested.
Dual Guns / Photon Saber is pretty busted too, similar build I think its mostly about melee combos.
I swapped to Elma to run through the tunnel full of hidden germivores and bat swarms to reach this lovely place. A tonne of ballsack crabs at level 50 that don't aggro are hidden under the ground, and there's like 5 wreckages in here.
Also using other characters can be handy for trying out a different playstyle.
For a little while I was convinced that I couldn't use Servant Sacrifice or King's Boon if I wasn't Irina, but it turns out I was merely blind.
Any time I tried to go down, the Germivores popped up. Maybe I should have used aural cloaking augs but honestly Shadowrunner was just easier and she happened to be in my party at the time.
There's a lot of varied Nopon too, but a lot of them are merchants because every alien species is trapped in a marketing loop where they buy low, sell high to another species.
Tatsu is a fun character, but easily a step down from Riki since he is never, not once, taken seriously (Unless it's in the final chapters, I'm at 10.) There's a lot of fun ones on sidequests though: a card collector, a married wife escaping with a sweetheart, Koko, the caravan merchants, the hat maker etc. A lot of them on the street have good chit-chat too, like everyone else.
