Hi /v/ i got sick of new RPG im playing Might and Magic: Book One: Secret of the Inner Sanctum. One of the first RPG ever from 1986. Grid Mapping is fun as fuck. I wanted to share it with you /v/
Also lets discuss Might and Magic, whats your favorite of the whole series Heroes included.
This is how glorious combat looked back then.

Making your own map seems neat.
check out grid cartographer, you might like it

I remember making maps of Zelda 1 dungeons using graph paper

It is, they are 16x16 grids, each time you take step you draw. There re spells to know your location on the grid so you dont fuck up.

I've not played M&M, I have M&M3 (a CIB copy of the original big box release!) but have had trouble installing it on my Win98 box.
I do love the fuck out of grid maps though. I started up Wizardry on an intercontinental flight and had a lot of fun mapping my way and watching thieves drop like flies.
You have beautiful keyboard. Is it good to play modern games?
Starting the city dungeon.

also so you can figure out wtf happened after you step on a teleporter or a spinner
or are those only in wizardry

Not so much, its really good for typing. Its a matter of taste tough. They re clicky as shit like the cherry ones that click, cant remember the color.

>clicky
For me that's quite good to be honest.

pretty sure it's an IBM Model M. Godly unit but expensive, I think a company makes good clones these days though.

Yeah same here. The spell is awesome.
I've only ever played Grimrock. Mapping was fun in that one too if you disable the automatic map.

It is, one of the old ones. Found it used pretty cheap. Don't know about the new ones.

Last time I had to draw a dungeon layout was in a porn game. Feels bad.

if the company you're thinking of is unicomp, then no they don't
mine lasted about a year before the buckling springs would no longer buckle

The new one does a great rendition of old mapping an is fun as shit too.
>>323379126
well that is disappointing

I'm so glad that a modern game exists which lets you disable that. I'm used to just trying to hide it from view on purpose in games like Super Metroid.
