Not a video game, but Evangelion
When was a reference ever funny?
References are for the creatively & comedically bankrupt.
I know this is fixed in a different episode
Was the Sopranos a good show?
My little brother was watching that shitty new dog movie Max, and I was surprised to see the douchebag kid was playing Strike Suit and Insurgency. Normally in movies they play stupid looking CGI shit
>When they animate his mom because the actress died in real life
actually its a reference to this webcomic
>clearly not actually playing it
>not even fucking hitting all the buttons
>skipping entire menus
>music doesn't line up with the gameplay half the time
>game keeps playing after he walks away
On the one hand
>"what are you doing"
>"just playing Mario on a poorly coded Nintendo 64 emulator"
>[audience laughs uncontrollably]
On the other hand, holy fuck those tits are fucking awesome.
That's a parody, not a reference.
Anybody got screencaps of the guy who recreated an actual gamesphere?
>The hueman that made it is now working on Steven Universe but refuses to upload any and all work of this masterpiece because the contract he signed with the SU creator would become broken.
You fucking kidding me? This is the best video game representation in a series that i have ever seen. If your nitpicking this id love for you to look at literally any other show especially
Tumblr is what keeps the damn thing alive. I'm not sure of the actual ratings among kids are, but I don't think it's higher than the brainfarts of Gumball and Teen Titans Go. That, and also the fact that the show's creator made it a thing to only hire on non-whites means that CN has conveniently filled up their affirmitive action quotient.
>2006 was 9 years ago
It's an actual thing she said in one of the CN interviews back when the series was about to premiere. Said the whole "diversity and underrepresentation" shit and mentioned that Steven Universe would be worked on only by the marginalized groups. Probably just meant the cheap ass korean animators that do everything because they're practically slaves but I'm sure the interview was for kids.
See that's the kind of shit I like about The Lich.
He's not one to play around.
I really hope they bring him back properly because he's the only interesting part of adventure time.
Fuck I remember this, I was shocked to see Gitaroo man of all things there. That game was amazing.
Sequel soon right guys? I mean It'll get revived along with the other dead franchises right?
Spaced also had a Resident Evil reference
Megas XLR was fucking great, though, and had a bunch of old-ass anime references too.
I mean, shit, what kid watching it would see the wave motion cannon sticking out of the chest of Megas as the actual Space Battleship Yamato?
>purple tentacle from Day Of The Tentacle and okami and ezio made it in
>a fucking sim with a red crystal
>master chief nowhere in sight
I'm turning frenchaboo.
>you can't criticize muh perfect show
>it's not worse than any of the shit you watch
for reference I don't watch BBT
I fucking hate video game playing in tv shows in general. It's fucking stupid and they go through so much effort to simulate shit instead of just playing the game live. Like, how fucking hard is it? It couldn't possibly look or sound any worse.
>noticing things that are clearly noticeable is autistic
Get fucked, you waste of spunk
15 seconds in
Merchandising primarily. Also no one gave a shit about what boring heroes of the show it starred this time, the draw was the villain trio who were always more or less the same with a slightly changed coat of paint (for all 40 years or so of the series-es!) and the shenanigans they got up to.
Oh shit, do I see the guy from Full Throttle at the bar?
THE ONE ON THE LEFT IS A SHAMBLER FROM QUAKE 1 AND THE ARTIST IS COOL AS FUCK FOR INCLUDING THAT
>preaching classics to neo /v/
>the age range in here is probably 12-19
It isn't, but look at it; same body, same coloration, even same pointy teeth although the divisions between them are lost because comic.
If anyone else can guess what it is, go for i.
-Beep bop noises
-Xbox 360 graphics
-"If you die in the game, you die in real life"
-"You have nine lifes"
Dimitra arc was shit
>Sub-Zero and goro
>No warcraft orks
I still don't know who quite a few of this lot are.
>Guy in between Goro and DK
>Green Beret guy behind Freeman
>Little guy being chased by the prince of persia protag
>The ninja in front of sam and max (Ryu Hayabusa?)
>Floozy in between Big Daddy and presumably Vault Dweller
Prince of Persia
Tekken - Jin Kazama
Sam & Max
Bioshock Bid Daddy
Kratos - God of War
Altair - Assassins Creed
Jill Valentine - Resident Evil 3
Cloud and Gordon Freeman
There were few characters that i don't recognize, but i did recognize most of them :P
Did these faggots pay Nintendo for this shit? These aren't even the slightly fudged typical cartoon vidya consoles, they're literally just putting Nintendo's stuff in their show.
>not ONE mention of Gravity Falls and their amazing Street Fighter 2 clone episode
Holy fuck, /v/. Do you even /co/?? They even fucking reference "Oh! My car..."
I want to say the middle guy might be a reference to Ben from Full Throttle, but he doesn't look as buff.
>implying you wouldn't play the shit out of this
Ending is 10/10. Plebs misunderstood, but its amazing. Dont
God but that was ages ago. I remember getting into the comic when it was still good back in... early 2010? Almost 6 years ago now. All because of a random thread where people were doing the "pretend a fake game is real" thing with sburb. Now that I think about it, Homestuck is about to come full circle and become vidya again. Despite everything, that adventure game is still happening. I look forward to all the shitposting threads about it.
is that supposed to be seductive? I'd do a 365 and walk away if someone did that to me
Not videogames but still pretty notable
Why is Regular Show so fucking based?
It's only gotten better over the years, something a lot of cartoons don't.
Animation on the sprite done by Paul Robertson too who also did Giffany.
Eh, Regular Show had an entire episode lampooning The Wizard anyway.
Yep. Hasn't been officially announced yet.
It's better because Eileen is in it more.
It's not as bad as of late.
rigby and eileen together is the best thing that's happened though
So what shows have the best references?
Okay I'll begrudgingly admit it.
My kid watches that shit, she loves them, she's five. I feel conflicted about it, I don't want to fuel the show because some shit on there makes me grit my teeth but she likes it.
It isn't the entire intro, just some things
>The flashing white on black text
>The regular show title animation
>The sky with the close-up and shadows
>The blueprints look likr the drawings in the intro
Are you seriously concerned over whether or not your 5 year old daughter has the "correct" taste in children's TV shows. For Christ's sake, she's not on this earth to be your cool friend and share your tastes, she's her own person.
I know there are parents on /v/ and I'll never get the mindset of "I want my kid to like only the right video games/tv shows, just like I did". All I can think of is that my parents probably thought the same thing when they dragged me to flower shows or forced me to join little league. I mean, hey, my dad loved sports as a kid and my mom has always been into flowers, of course their genetic combination shares both interests. If he just wants to play with the gameboy that his grandma bought him there must be something wrong with him.
I grew up my parents who were total sci-fi nerds and dragged me to every star trek/Dr who gallefry convention every year when i was fucking 3.
I hate sci-fi/cyberpunk now because I'm sick of it, and ended up liking history and ancient civilizations far more. And thanks to this "LOL NERD CULTURE" generation, I feel like I'm being openly mocked by each and every one of them.
I found some familiar faces while reading Deadpool a while back.
Kind of. You can think of it like a giant floral exhibition. There's your standard 'canvas' arrangement of some flowers, where people will plant flowers in a pattern so that it looks like something, or just a bunch of complimentary flowers all planted near each other so that it just looks nice. Then there's also gardening showcases, where people have recreated the plant's natural environment and have reared peak specimens. They also show off new gardening techniques and products. I say people do this, but I really mean professionals. It's kind of like a tourist attraction, cause most people come for the 'amazing' flower gardens, but there are also places for people with home gardens to learn about gardening. Basically 1 part showcase, 1 part Gardener's Convention.
Here's the website of the one I was dragged to as a kid: http://njflowershow.com/
Could you imagine being an energetic 8 year old being dragged around this place for a whole Saturday? When all you wanted to do was play outside on your bike, then come home and cool off with some lemonade and Pokemon Red? Even now that I have the attention span to appreciate a nice flower arrangement and the effort that goes into growing this stuff, I'd still probably chew my own arms off if I had to go to one of these. One thing that's always gotten me was the smell. Dear God. You know how sweaty unwashed nerds have a very particular stale odor about them that permeates most tabletop gaming shops and anime cons? Flower shows are like the middle aged female equivalent. Overtly saccharine perfumes mingling with the stink of pollen, it makes me want to vomit. Never assume your spawn wants to do the same things you do. Tell them about it and involve them in it if they're interested, fine, but don't force them into it. My own personal hell is probably me at a flower show where my dad is yelling at me for not being grateful for the opportunity to go to such a wonderful event.
jk I like gravity falls but anything that rotates pixels is a disappointment
Western shows that try to parody anime hurt me.
But i still chuckle
>tfw the only reason I enjoy SU is because I'm a sucker for worldbuilding and it's the only currently running show that has good worldbuilding, an ongoing continuity, and still has self-contained episode stories
it's everything I wanted adventure time to be
I can identify some names and videogames:
Shambler (quake), Duke Nukem, solid snake with a mustache, rayman, megaman, link, sonic, bomberman, okami, morrigan, sub-zero, chun-li, lara croft, samus aran, goro, donkey kong cloud, dante, gordon freeman, malcom (ut3 version), altair, kratos, jill valentine, sam & max, big daddy, vault dweller, lemmings, pong, tetris, space invaders, jin kazama (tekken), sims, starfox, full throttle, grimm fandango, starfox, dragon's lair, pacman, ninja gaiden probably? and the rest i don't know them
oh, and the whole page is a refference to Tron and Tron Legacy
>Someone likes two mildly popular shows
>Want to suck his dick
>There are no ducks on the mysterious island of Voya nui
Bionicle did have video games so this fits.
Kung fury legitimately disgusts me, it shamelessly copied a ton of jokes from Danger 5 (most prominently shooting bullets through a phone and an animal head human) and lacked any of the soul since it was almost entirely digitally composed 3D renders on green screen and not real sets or practical effects
This,most of them think shonen=anime.
It was basically a mix of Megaman, Mario Golf, Final Fantasy 7 and Earthbound.
It can be p. good, give it a whirl anon
Hey anon. Draw one of the characters thin and Caucasian, & don't forget to leave your address below your submissions, they'll shower you with money and gifts.
In SU's case it's not parody it's homages. The people who make it are huge weebs. As are most of the younger people making cartoons these days.
In S4 and S5 particularly they've really started utilising persistent series long arcs and continuity, there's occasionally pairs of episodes which take place at the same time and there are a lot more callbacks to past characters and episodes (some are even direct followups, such as one where they needed to use yellowshy's deep guy voice and another that addressed the fact that purple ditched her entire friend group when she was told to move)
There are also a bunch of episodes where they go to locations for the sole purpose of worldbuilding (such as manehatten and griffon land)
Plus at this point every character with a long term goal has achieved their endgame, even
the CMC got their CMs. They've been putting in legitimate effort to develop the world and not just keep the same status quo from 5 years ago
Gets praised for having a mediocre artist as the showrunner who is automatically GOD TIER because she's a chick with a dick which as you know trumps artistic merit or any other talent really.
>watching level up
>watching any of cartoon network's live action garbage
Stop right there
I like Lapis more than Pearl
