What I really don't get is why you can't drain concrete from every road and building, and have to rely on enemies They should have made it so you have infinite concrete instead. It's endgame anyway, so it wouldn't matter making it op

The only power that I thought was decent at the very least was smoke. Neon was meh and I hated video and concrete. The one of the worst things about hoe the game did its powers is as someone else in the thread already stated: the powers all felt the same for the most part aside from traversal abilities. I couldn't ever find a reason to use anything other than smoke and sometimes neon during any situation.

Second Son being a launch window title means that it has more of its development time focused on the new engine than the actual game so it has jack shit when it comes to overall content Main game is fun, just wish it had more missions and content and would let me switch elements on the fly and maybe giving the different powers more variety than being four flavors of the same attacks

John was a pretty shitty villain in the end, they tried to make him into a sympathetic figure who was doing what he thought best but they really failed for me once it became apparent that he'd never accept killing off conduits instead. It felt out of character for him and like the devs just did it to force a final confrontation out so they could have a big boss fight.
Also literally everything concerning Nix and her relationship with a Cole going down the opposite karmic path to hers makes no sense, like there is straight up no justification for why they don't turn on each other or stop talking given that their methods and goals are near totally different.
Besides that it just has awkward pacing issues like the speed at which Cole grows close to either partner being awkwardly fast and the story kind of lagging on dealing with Bertrand for way too long compared to the everything else.
I mean I fucking loved the Zeke stuff but the rest was a total wash for me.

Gotta disagree with you there, I actually liked Fetch and Eugene and was disappointed I didn't get a bunch more of both. Can't say the same for any other Infamous side characters.

Just completed Second Son 5 mins ago and honestly? I thought it was pretty good. Delsin was far more likable than I expected him to be, had that "oh fuck" moment with his brother, and overall the powers were fun. My one complaint is they didn't try to mix the powers or expand the early ones. When you have Video you can forget about everything else which is a shame because I really liked smoke but it was next to useless late game.
If they make another, they should do it so you don't have individual powers that you choose from, but one unified typhoon of fuck that you can mix and match with.
Honest to God half SS's problems would be solved if they just added in six karmic side-missions, three focused on Fetch and Eugene each, where Delsin got to hang with them more.
The two badly needed more screen time to gain depth and have a stronger connection with Delsin besides "meet -> fight -> offscreen chat -> HURR WE FRIEND NOW" and it would have added an hour or two of sorely needed meaningful content.

There are. The game loses focus with its powers unlike 1 or 2. The other games had a very structured layout for how powers and upgrades were achieves. In SS they just kind of throw everything at you randomly throughout the game. There's no proper structure. Plus a good majority of all the abilities between all the powers are pretty much the same. There's not much of a reason to use video or neon over smoke since they are all practically identical and smoke is what you start with.

Smoke is next to useless unless you'rd doing an arena styled mission since its so lacking in manoeuvreability, and depending on if you're good or bad determines how or when you should be using Neon or Video.

The missions are repetitive and it takes way too long for the game to get good. The only thing that iF1 did better than 2 is the combat, and even that falls short after you do the boss fights and the 5 or 8 missions that allow you to use your full arsenal.

All the characters of 1 are pretty weak, maybe excluding Kessler and John. The missions of 2 are better, the way in which you traverse the world is a lot more fluid, and you get a bigger arsenal of powers, which means that the game has more variety to it.
