Thoughts on the recent big update?
I loved it really. Fixed alot of balance issues, put demoman in his place with some needed nerfs, gave the pyro some huge buffs (loving the phlog buff so far, tears everwhere) and it made spy useful with that 0.5 delay on buildings. So I'm happy with it.
I'm reading the notes on it, holy shit why did nobody tell me about some of these changes. I might even start playing again.
>Pyros get 20 health if they extinguish someone
>all Flamethrowers buffed in range and other things
>Medics heal faster when healing others
>sapped Sentries take longer to get back online after the sapper is removed
For some reason it's started to run like complete shit. I remember last winter I played alot of tf2 with silky smooth performance and now it's like at 15 fps even at its lowest settings.
>Thoughts on the recent big update?
I laughed at the retards that were saying pyro is dead and puff n sting is kill. It still works and i find its more powerful with the stock flamethrower + reserve shooter. All in all i think it was a fine update.
FaN scout still best scout
I wish pubbing was more fun
So say some enemy pyro suicides into 3 of my teammates and they're all on fire. I extinguish them and, in addition to having teammates that aren't on fire, I get 60 health? That seems like a lot, the reward of having less injured teammates should be enough.
I'd understand if it was just on the backburner, because of the airblast cost, but damn if that doesn't make pyro more powerful.
I've got a Name Tag and Description Tag, /v/.
the new maps suck.
the novelty of contracts and weapon skins have worn off.
some retarded balance changes such as the heavy nerfs, demo shields and swords nerfs, quickie buff, wrap assassin buff, conch/cozy camper buff etc.
they should've waited until after matchmaking to release balance patches which would make them more competent.
>Bads still refuse to play 9v9/Highlander
>Meme classes (pyro/demo/soldier) and items got buffs
>Important classes got nerfs.
>Regular Sentry might as well not exist now that a Spy can 1v1 an Engineer with little effort.
They basically don't want anyone to git gud. They want everyone to play meme classes or items.
The worst part is they keep releasing skins for stock items just to please freemium fags who don't want to grind or craft.
I forgot to mention>>323357664
Community maps are garbage and should've stayed custom maps.
They're not nearly good enough to be part of the official rotation.
Although since the last MvM changes I've enjoyed it pretty well, but it's purely due to grapple hook. It's unbalanced as fuck on a class-level, disregarding item synergy.
I also like the "baseketball" mode but all people to is stack scouts or respawn camp the other team.
Fuck community updates. Fuck the community.
There's nothing wrong with wanting to play something other than the traditional sixes classes though. IMO what valve should do is add some unlocks for pyro and heavy to give them some more mobility and utility at the cost of damage. So they'd have some use in 6s but not necessarily as good in pubs. Maybe get rid of knockback on minis so they're not knocking soldiers and scouts out of the sky like they are now.
Degreaser isn't good enough for pyros to hold their own against soldiers and scouts anymore. Powerjack is only good for getting to mid it has no practical use in combat which is vital in 6s.
>20% more damage taken
>no random crits
>Against rockets and the scattergun which rape at point blank
>Practical in combat
U wot m8?
The powerjack speed buff would need to be passive to make him viable to run full time.
Is there any reason NOT to use the holy mackerel?
I just wish they'd leave poor TF2 alone. At this point it's on life support, they're just pumping cosmetics and "new" maps into it to keep it alive. Just let it rest and make Team Fortress 3 already.
with over 2000 hours for some reason (probly drop idling), no unusuals and only a handful of stranges, ive decided with this update to stop playing. not that ive been playing for several months now
Basher is the Objective best Melee if you can use it right, Mackerel is second because it's the stock with added DR countering.
Third is Wrap Assassin/Sandman (With cleaver)
Soda Popper makes Atomiser useless and you never need those jumps any ways.
Glad to see you understand.
>sees bright colours and somewhat loud sounds that are supposed to serve as a warning sign to turn around and run the fuck away
>runs towards it instead
>blames the game's balance when he gets crits all over his mouth
I'm glad they nerfed the stupid degreaser.
>Inb4 Muh switching weapon skills
>Inb4 lel I'm not W+M1
>Inb4 it was balanced.
No, using the fucking Deg didn't make you skilled, is just a bad habit weapon.
Eventually it was going to be nerfed.
Alright sorry for the salt.
But I really hated the degreaser.
Now is balanced, finally, after all this years.
MFW the pyro comes from a hidden corner and I can't do anything but cry.
Anyone else really upset about weapons having different degrees of wear?
It's so frustrating to get or unbox the skin you want only for it to look like it went through a car wash of steel wool. The only qualities people want are factory new and scratched up. But instead there's like 5 different qualities just to make sure no one is happy.
I like the idea of weapon skins, but they really should not have given them wear levels.
Not at all but mostly because I'm biased.
>Corsair and Dead Reckoner
>Large blood splats on the barrels
>Coffin Nail GL and Blue Mew RL FT
>Back of them coated in blood (Soldier and Demo self-harming and shit)
If you're an autist, it's great.
All weapon unlocks gives health back now.
idk, is like if Valve is trying to make every weapon as good as the black box, but they don't understand why the black box is such a good weapon for the soldier.
If I buy the tough break pass now, how long will the update last?
Is it almost over? Is it worth buying now? It's not a matter of price, just a matter of how long it will be relevant.
The degreaser is only "balanced" now in relation to other pyro weapons, that is to say it's underpowered compared to most other classes. I would rather have one good flamethrower that everyone uses that actually makes the pyro somewhat competitive than a wide variety of useless garbage.
Speaking of "bad habit weapons", how 'bout that phlog being the pyro's best flamethrower now? It's totally a good habit for a pyro to rely on W+M1 and never airblast.
>hang back and spam flares for free meter
>flank people in exactly the same way you should've to begin with as a pyro
>get free kills with W+M1
Getting hard countered by soldiers in the few brief seconds before you can get crits going is basically the only risk to this strategy.
>hang back and spam flares for free meter
>flank people in exactly the same way you should've to begin with as a pyro
And this is bad how?
>get free kills with W+M1
Don't blame the game if you like to run into the shiny thing that spews shiny fire. Or that your shitty team does.
You are missing the point you moron, the problem is that it's on a melee weapon in the first place. Soldier can boost his mobility and get frags without switching weapons, pyro on the other hand has to choose and this makes it impossible to use in a fight.
There are many reasons why this is bad for pyro.
>Drops the skill ceiling immensely and hurts your team because you can't block spam
>Removes any of the skill and game sense needed in playing traditional degreaser pyro
>Only works if the enemy team doesn't know what you're up too
>Heavily copies heavies playstyle making it redundant
>Flame particles have a shitload of bugs and is extremely unreliable both for the person using it and the victim. Flamethrowers are the most RNG dependant weapons in the game
>hat that clashes terribly with the look of the rest of the cosmetics
>undertale shit on the objector
Or you can just not use it and go with the based Backburner which is a much better weapon anyway.
But I'll agree on the fact that if Valve wants to push this game to be more competitive, they need to do something about the fire particles. And random crits while they're at it.
Except the Soldiers and Demomen have to give up a chunk of health to gain mobility from their main weapons.
Powerjack Pyros and EN/GRU Heavies just have to switch weapon and be vulnerable to taking a little bit more damage.
Melee was never intended to be used seriously, which is why most melee unlocks are gimmicky or provide utility to the class.
>and hurts your team
Then it really isn't that overpowered
In a highlander scenario the pyro that knows how to properly airblast can just keep the phlog pyro away during their crits, while at the same time reflecting demo/soldier spam
That could easily be fixed if Valve did away with the randomness of the flamethrowers' fire particles.
And landing back crits isn't as hard as you make it sound like, by the way.
Also, I just realised I've been using my old scattergun for a few weeks, RIP.
Here's my pyro.
Demomen rarely need jumps outside of rollout. Soldiers have gunboats to make the health cost negligible and even if you run shotgun constant heals means soldier can afford to burn some health.
Heavy can afford to switch because he has the health to absorb some spam and the range and DPS to keep soldiers from pushing him, bombing a revved up heavy is a death sentence for any soldier. Pyro has none of these things, you are comparing apples to oranges. If pyro wants to attack he needs to be able to quickly close in to do maximum damage.
R8 my Medic. I plan on getting a S. CC and S. Ubersaw.
>And landing back crits isn't as hard as you make it sound like, by the way.
It is when you're not playing against retards. If you have never used a weapon in a competitive match don't act like you know what you're talking about.
I used to do Stock flamethrower and Flaregun
The Flaregun became my favorite secondary in the game; burn, puff and shot where you think they gonna fall (Degreaserfags are scrubs too)
Easy life, I even had those random ebin flare snipes when a scout tries to run away from me; the 'Critical hit', the kill feed, the scream of the dying and the domination trumpets made me mentally orgasm everytime
Then the Scorch shot buff happened
Now I'm always using it
Looking back to my Pyro, I see the flaregun in my secondary inventory
I feel like I have betrayed my waifu, I try to go back to my old Flaregun gameplay...
It's not the same; I can't seem to use it properly, now I just have a different mindset that conflicts with the Flaregun
I feel awful
How to be a xX_MLG_ep1Cpybro_Xx
>run toward enemy spawn
Bonus advanced pyro
>press m2 immediately
>wait for him to fire a rocket
>until either he does or you die
remember pro airblasts are far more important than being useful
>Ubersaw + Krits
Okay, nice combo
Heh... I don't think it's a bad weapon; I actually like it; sniping healing is an awesome thing; but it doesn't really fit your weapons loadout
Also, your Medic's beard doesn't fit the rest of your cosmetics
Except the 20% damage vulnerability disappears from the Pyro as soon as he switches away from it. He also has a much faster switch speed with the Degreaser or RS, meaning that he can heckle enemies much more efficiently. As for range, the Pyro can run any of his Flare Guns, or resort to his Shotgun / RS, which still does decent damage at mid-range. The buff to the FT's fall-off makes the Pyro more fatal at close-mid range. Also, you saying that the Soldier getting heals means that it's fine to burn some health logically leaves you with the fact that the Pyro can get heals to make him more bulky and able to survive longer with the Powerjack out.
It is fun to see phlog pyros desperately looking for someone to burn. I've noticed a slight skill increase in pubs, the game only gets more fun by the day, I refused to buy contracts for a while and now I know it was a bad idea, people will buy anything, I just sold a rocket launcher for 50 bucks.
> Soda Popper makes Atomiser useless
> Gimping your primary source of damage for a melee you should never use
> Third jump will fuck with soldiers, pyro's and everyone that predicts your movement
Nah nigga. Atomiser is da shit
Boston basher would be good, but meeleeing as a scout is usually not a good idea. Plus with that swing speed if you miss a couple of times you will kill yourself faster than the soldier can turn around and blast you
Disregard >>323372398 he sucks cocks. Diamondback best gun for the DR.
Airblast is honestly a load of shit.
>get killed because of a retarded soldier who is feeding the pyro
>have to play some retarded mindgame based on the pyro's reflect instincts/patterns
Can the crying degreaser fags get over it and move on? I have 1k+ hrs on pyro, I used to use degreaser/flare gun exclusively, I was incredibly consistent even with airshots, and even I was able to move onto stock flamethrower + shotgun and play fine with its nice buffs. If you were a real pyro main you'd quit being a baby bitch.
Pyro does not have enough health to take those risks. If you run into a soldiers face with powerjack out he's going to shit on you.
You do not have enough time to react and switch before the rocket hits you even with degreasers pre nerf switch speed and definitely not now. At close range that would mean switching before he fires the rocket.
Are you seriously comparing those two to rockets and stickies?
Doesn't matter his range and DPS is still shit and there's no way of knowing how far your particles actually go.
>Also, you saying that the Soldier getting heals means that it's fine to burn some health logically leaves you with the fact that the Pyro can get heals
You skimmed over the part where I said shotgun soldier, ie the pocket. No way in hell a medic is going to pocket a fucking pyro.
I fail to see how a good player taking advantage of a bad player is in any way "bullshit"
besides pyro needs airblast, otherwise soldiers can just aim anywhere near the pyro's feet and "outskill" him
I know exactly what you mean. If they had made it where it was only factory new then everything would be fine. You could trade skins you unboxed and didn't like for skins you did. But instead there's a 70% chance you'll unbox something no one wants.
I just want the pyrovison skins factory new. I really like the aesthetic of the pyroland skins because the color pallet reminds me of the ps1 spyro games.
were cookin up a storm boyz
wait it just dawned on me to equip this melee
>If you run into a Soldier's face with Powerjack out he's going to shit on you
And you fucking well deserved it for having such bad reaction times or him getting the drop on you.
>You do not have enough time to react
>Even with the Degreaser's pre-nerf switch speed and definitely not now
Old switch speed: 0.2333s
New switch-to speed: 0.2s
>Are you seriously comparing those two to rockets and stickies?
Are you seriously comparing an ambush / support class to artillery classes? Apples and oranges, much?
>No way in hell a Medic is going to pocket a fucking Pyro
He doesn't need to be pocketing you. You just need enough overheal. The absolute maximum a Soldier can do with a single rocket on a Pyro with the Powerjack out is 135 (at point blank). This leaves you with 125 HP, and your retard-level reaction times should finally have your melee away by now, meaning that it will still take two more rockets to kill you.
>le w+m1 is bad meme
>b-b-but i don't want to play this game the way it was meant to be played, mooooom! i want to play it like if it was street fighter
phlog is so powerful only because 99% of the tf2 players are so trash that they keep feeding the mmph so much that they can run rampart and heal infinitely.
if you try to go vs anyone with iq greater than their shoe number you cant do shit. you have 175 hp, limited mobility, no ability to reflect rockets/pipes, no ability to push back enemies and their ubers, no ability to break uber pairs, no ability to extinguish unless you swap out your secondary.. oh and loses 1v1 to pretty much every other class. even a good spy can just 3 hit a pyro with revolver.
>Basher is the Objective best Melee if you can use it right
this is fucking stupid
by "if you can use it right" you mean "if you don't ever miss" which is completely unrealistic.
these kind of comparisons (oh but X gun has more DPS assuming you just hold down M1 even while reloading and hit every pellet! oh but ambassador is the best gun if you can reliably get a headshot every single time! oh but on a 1v1 match-up, assuming nobody else is on the server...) are what we call "theorycrafting" my friends
It's not just that it's objectively better damage-wise if you use it correctly. It allows you to increase the height of your double jumps if the swing is timed right. You can also use it to keep yourself from being at 142.5% max health whilst a Medic heals you, to maximise the Ubercharge build rate. You can also use it to steal a health pack from an enemy, by hitting yourself to start bleeding.
>I fail to see how a good player taking advantage of a bad player is in any way "bullshit"
Look at what I typed. It's a total crapshoot.
>besides pyro needs airblast, otherwise soldiers can just aim anywhere near the pyro's feet and "outskill" him
Soldier is a class that I dislike, but Pyro is fundamentally flawed.
>bad reaction times
The average player has a reaction time of .25s. In that amount of time a rocket will have traveled 17ft. Then take into account latency, input lag, and monitor lag and it gets worse. Youre full of shit.
Good pyros guess based on the player and how they approach, for example if you're behind them M2 immediately when they turn around. If they're reloading M2 when they finish the first one. If they're delaying their shots burn them and M2 when your particles hit. Nobody can reach to point blank projectiles.
Pretty sure the overall switch speed buff wasnt applied to degreaser.
>Are you seriously comparing an ambush / support class to artillery classes?
Stop using this fucking word, every class ambushes this is not exclusive to pyro. Pyro is stuck in the support role BECAUSE he can't fight demos and soldiers.
>You just need enough overheal
Doesn't mean you're going to get it, medic has to prioritize his heals. But whatever let's say he does have those heals. How do you suggest you kill a soldier with 300 hp who can dish out 4 90 damage projectiles well before youre in range with your flamethrower that does 150dps if you land every particle?
