This is also the same game where they were originally going to have the FOV setting locked until almost everyone ever collectively told them that was goddamned retarded and they changed it (somewhat, last I'd heard).
Blizzard doesn't seem to have a single fucking clue what they're doing and are more than likely cashing in on whatever consumer good will and blind fanboyism they can to carry the game, rather than actually good game design.
>>323343976 You know how in TF2 you can shoulder-peak rockets and grenades onto sentries so you don't get hit? If you try that in Overwatch you will get shot at by the sentry anyway, even if you were there for .1 second because the servers counts you as being there for like 1 second. You played the beta, right? If you did, did you ever Dash through someone as Tracer only to die anyway, and the killcam shows you dying before you dashed? That's 20 tick. Did you play Widowmaker and get lodes a headshots even though you can't snipe for shit? That's 20 tick.
Don't know why some anons here are demanding it be an ultra competitive CSGO like game. Not like any of you actually play that trash anyways, and for good reason. It's actually unfun to play ultra competitive games.
So the thing with the tick rate in Overwatch is it's not as much of an issue as in CSGO, if CSGO had 20 ticks it would be unplayable, because hit detection is handled differently. In Overwatch it favors the guy shooting while it's the opposite in CSGO. So as a casual game it's much better, if you aim at someone's head and shoot you will hit 100% of the time, which is definitely not the case in CSGO.
>>323345684 >not a plus It's the main incentive to play. Overwatch has absolutely zero financial incentive to play right now, and therefore those that ARE playing it, are doing it because it's pure fun. There isn't even any progression mechanics, but these are going away because normies can't stand not being given a treat every 5 minutes.
>>323345891 HoTS didn't fuck up just from casual, it fucked up because cash shop. Casual does not equate to being bad, it just means easier. Hardcore does not equate to being good, it just means it's harder.
dota 2 is literally at the assend of moba communities.
I installed it last week, and when I tried to deny a creep, and accidentally hit the other for a last hit instead of the carry I got pinged repeatedly, and presumably sworn at in peruvian dingdong language.
Then a russian game, then a game filled with the utmost retarded people I've ever met that didn't understand even how their dick works, or that shit comes from their asshole.
CS:GO? Hah. It's got great things behind it, but the crates, the skins bullshit. I've had people come in a ranked match just to try and find someone to trade with. It's usually always kids, too, and I was at MG2 so it wasn't -that- bad, but not amazing.
They're both fairly bad games filled with a community of shit.
>>323341745 It's pretty fun actually. I got in the beta and I've been playing a bit. Characters are all different enough from each other that encounters are fun and make use your head as you have to figure out what would be the best action to take against their char. Personally my fav character is Genji just for the cyborg ninja part and he's really fun to play too. My biggest complaint would be the short respawn time. The spawn time is about three seconds long so if you're in the last part of the a capture the area it becomes a really huge chore to keep enemies away from it. I'll buy it, not for 40 bucks, but 20 bucks is reasonable.
>>323346740 This, both games are shit. Their only popular because they can make you vidya money to buy other vidya on steam. It's why everybody sucks and is so toxic, it's pretty much their game funds.
>>323347221 >There's absolutely zero chance people are playing the games for longer than a month because of "good gameplay". They're doing it for financial gain and/or gambling. That's pretty much what I just said. Even if the game was good, which it isn't, most will play just for dosh.
>low skill ceiling and casual pandering mechanics >garbage match making system ported straight from HotS >no private servers or modding tools which are CRUCIAL features that would tenfold the longevity of the game and build a community around it >horribly low tickrate >no ladders at launch >pricepoint high enough to shove fence sitters away >consolitis
>>323348275 >low skill ceiling and casual pandering mechanics Care to explain why it's skill ceiling is low? >garbage match making system ported straight from HotS Evidence please? >no private servers or modding tools which are CRUCIAL features that would tenfold the longevity of the game and build a community around it Of course there isn't, the game is still in fucking beta. Who the fuck is going to join a private server when the player community is so low? >horribly low tickrate Actually a problem, needs fixing. >no ladders at launch Who gives a shit? >pricepoint high enough to shove fence sitters away Keeps slavs and autistic children out. Remove kebab. >consolitis Yeh cause PC mustard race roight?
>>323348275 >low skill ceiling lol no, sorry but the game is deceiving in that aspect.
The rest of your points are actually trash outside of tickrates (can be adjusted anyways). I highly recommend spending less time on reddit and having your opinions formed by the same spergs who ruined Tribes.
>>323347492 Rts isn't a real category anymore Poe is better than d3, and blizzard lies about Diablo sales numbers WoW is still the best but will be shit until they get new devs Hearthstone is actually decent although very p2w
>>323350326 Because it adds a significant number of players to the pool that have the desire to play competitively to improve themselves with respect to others. It's like a progression system, it keeps you coming back to be 'better'.
>>323350914 >if their that fucking important. of course they are you dipshit, literally every other Blizzard game has competitive ranking systems, 4/5 of their games have / in the past have had tournaments with prize pools hosted by Blizzard
I played it. It's literally TF2 with some really boring, stupid ass classes. It's not too bad, but it's like your favorite pizza got stale and somebody did his best to make it edible again and also make it more presentable than it originally was. Most of the classes are pretty fucking bad and the only thing to them is that they each rely on a gimmick If you want to play an FPS game just get CS:GO. It's literally the only one worth playing that isn't fotm shit that will die within weeks (like R6 Siege will). If you want something fun and not serious bigboy shit just get TF2.
>>323341745 I'm not in the beta yet, but I'll admit that I'm excited for this game. I've watched several videos, and my biggest complaint from watching is the HUD. It needs to be customizable by some measure.
This ticrate issue is something I actually hadn't heard yet, and does sound like a legitimate gripe; especially if you're looking at it from a competitive perspective.
>>323351506 I've been playing TF2 on and off since beta. The game is practically ruined (Valve should create a competitive mode, tweak the classes base weapon stats, and make competitive only base weapons IMO). CSGO isn't even the same sub genre of game, and honestly I'd rather play Unreal 4 if we're talking deathmatch, which is basically what CSGO is (bomb planting is WAY more utilized than rescue, and both are by and large secondary objectives).
>>323354118 SC2 is dead. D3 is dead. HotS was DoA. WoW is dying with no hope of resurrection.
So no, It isn't just the recent WoW expansions. It's their recent library. It also isn't that I don't play these games, nobody I know or nobody on /v/ plays these games.
There are better alternatives that exceed in everything Blizzard neglected simply out of incompetence. That's what happens when people like Rob Pardo and the people who made their actual good games leave.
>>323354963 >Why is it so hard to admit people still like their games Can you point to me where these people exist? I don't consider the thousands of basement dwelling autists that attend Blizzcon every year to be people.
>>323342632 That image is misleading, should show one second of movement, or the average reaction time of a person, 0.25 seconds. so 5 of those 20 ticks. Also, counting out 20 of those 20 tickrate people seems... off, looks more like it's counting in a tickrate of 10 or something.
