>>323332330 going from Bioshock 1/2 to this was a big pill to swallow. I'm excited to try burial at sea though. I think a big thing for me not enjoying this game is the location. I couldn't eat up enough of rapture (though it all got a little bit more monotonous in 2)
>>323332206 How do you define "better"? You're about to find some cool new weapons, the story is about to go apeshit and the difficulty is about to ratchet up. Find a Hand cannon and hold onto it, best close up weapon in the game. Keep going.
I could've swallowed the shit story and illusion of choice excused off with "Constants and Variables" -bullshit because Levine has a preschoolers understanding of quantum physics - as in none. But in one fell swoop they had to shit on the previous bioshocks too with that bullshit "Multiverse" -ending. Durr sea, derrh lighthouse, fuck you levine you barneyfag hack.
>>323332764 >You're about to find slightly better re-skinned versions of the weapons you're already using, the story is about to show the writer had no idea what he was doing, and they're going to keep throwing the same enemies at you but in greater number. Be prepared to cheese the fuck out of the ghost-boss unless you want an exercise in frustration, and I hope you weren't hoping for a QTE final boss or final boss in general.
>Keep going because you paid money for this and truly bad games need to be experienced to be believed.
Unlike most of 4chan, I actually am not racist and try to be magnanimous to people of other cultures, but I was really surprised reading some gamefaqs and reddit articles that said this game had a strong moral conflict. That might have been the case if this game had argued something like "Everyone is a little bit racist, but nobody wants to accept that and this is a bad thing for society" or something but this game really just doesn't offer anything for me to think about in terms of the moral ethic they've tried to establish here. I really just don't get it.
>>323333465 It also struck me hilarious when I read one thread on gamefaqs about the game where someone actually said they didn't know who John Wilkes Booth was, I believe the sentence went something like, "What confused me was when I entered the house and in the lobby there was a big statue of John Wilkes Booth (Was I supposed to know who this is?)" I mean I hope anyone going into this game knows at least a little bit about this junk, but I guess they don't really have to.
>>323333707 To be fair, that's a meaningless name unless you're American. So unless you're arguing this is a game by Americans for only other Americans, it's a poorly-phrased but semi-valid concern. If they're going to put in historical figures and try to sell the game to an audience with no reference to who those figures are, they ought to put at least -some- effort into explaining it (provided its an important part of the game).
>>323333796 Different anon. ADHD is the most retarded shit you can say in an argument. Only americans get drugged by their system because they are a bit excited. Everywhere else in the world it's called just being a kid.
>>323334057 The game would have been so much fucking better if it went with this and what they showed in 2010 fuck all these cunts for letting Irrational get away with it. THEY LITERALLY REWROTE THE GAME 6 MONTHS BEFORE RELEASE WHY IS THIS OK?
>>323333627 >>323333690 It's easier to get into. Everything about it has been streamlined. Instead of having many options for people when they were not needed, the game took on a more gunplay focus, turning levels into large open arenas so gunplay would remain the central focus while having just enough options for your abilities to be utilities and not the actual focus. This is also in keeping with the story, in which the powers are seen as secondary to man and machine. The gameplay then becomes more direct and to the point.
Though SS1, 2 and BS1 are all essentially so close its irrelevant. My only disagreement is that BS1 was stronger from a narrative and theme-perspective, whereas BS2 improved on the gameplay and visuals.
>>323334396 i preferred BS2 because I enjoyed several of the characters, story and gameplay far more than BS1 I love BS1, but the game's story goes to shit in the last 1/4, not to mention that awful boss battle I will admit BS1 did have a better story overall, but I enjoyed BS2's >father wins the custody battle and saves his daughter more for some reason.
The only shock game I hate, is BS:I, I really, really wanted to like it, but it just did everything fucking wrong.
>>323334375 >Took a more gunplay focused. They imposed a 2-weapon limit in a series that used to have 7+ weapons at the same time, and then limited it FURTHER by making weapons upgradeable which forced you to dump money into 2-3 weapons you liked and only carry those around the majority of the game. Not even mentioning that half the weapons don't even SHOW UP until the latter half of the game, where there's no point to getting them since you have nearly fully-upgraded other weapons by that point.
>Many options for people when they are not needed I don't know what this means. Are you listing the fact that a series inspired by and previously shown to be semi open with a decent emphasis on exploration and non-linearity in levels ... and then deciding to go full-linear... as a GOOD thing?
>Turning levels into large open arenas No, they turned levels into a straight line to the next shooty segment, straight line to the next shooty segment, over and over. This is corridor and arena shooting and it is the trademark of generic FPS.
>gunplay would remain the central focus while having just enough options for your abilities to be utilities and not the actual focus So again, you're saying the fact that they cut out the ability to use a bunch of different plasmids at once in tandem with a bunch of different weapons is good thing. Because it was too confusing or unpleasant when you could shoot lightning, fire, bees, etc, all in one fight?
>This is also keeping with the story in which the powers are seen as secondary to man and machine The central theme of the entire city is that is powered by a forsaken child who emits energy that is then collected. And said child spends the entire game running around opening rifts in spacetime for you. The games were always about the duality of man and machine, but plasmids were just another aspect of it, removing them here makes no more sense than it would in previous games.
>>323334375 Well focusing on a gunplay would be right if they didn't have a horrible weapon selection with 2 weapon limit and keep throwing at you different choices every time you progressed and made all the weapons I upgraded with hard earned money useless. Also the gluttony and no inventory system made it worse. Why should I have to wait for Elizabeth to throw me a medpack or salts if I could carry at least 1 of each with me or when she was on a cool down I had to take cover and hope to find a half eaten hotdog or an apple to survive the fight? Some of the plasmids got unlocked so late in the game you didn't even have time to have fun with them.
>>323335321 Exactly. Too much fat on the ham, if you get my drift. You didn't need all these plasmid combos or vigor environmental hazards when just shooting people would do the job. The plasmids are utilities for your main tools, not the other way around. And too many guns just means too many clutter. We don't need too many needless hallways and dead ends when people are just interested in the story. This game is better than the previous ones because it represents an entryway into a new world for ordinary people. It's not a "acquired taste" kind of thing, but rather a "pleasing for everyone" kind of thing. You get my drift man.
>>323335321 I also have to restate because this was just so asinine it continues to rustle me.
>2 weapon limit >upgradeable weapons means you stick with generally the same loadout the whole game >half the weapons are just reskins that aren't available until the second half of the game >only about 5-7 weapons, and then 5-7 more that are those same weapons but a different color
>Achievements to kill 40+ enemies with every single weapon in the game >Some areas and levels won't even HAVE 40+ enemies in them.
Who the actual fuck is expected to either disregard their upgraded weapons in favor of picking away at enemies with garbage weaponry, or replaying the game 4-5 times in order to get these achievements?
>>323336139 I love how when you people can't come up with a counter argument, you resort to chicanery and calling bait. Good show, old chap. Nice to see that the art of forensics is alive and well on this here image board. If you're unable to comprehend a second opinion, mayhaps you should quit your day job and spend the rest of your narrow life inside whatever hole you choose to call your home with you fingers in your ears while you repeatedly shout positive things to yourself. I think that may be better for your health and those who are forced to interact with you daily.
“HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I WATCHED THIS VIDEO. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPUTERS. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT FOR YOU. HATE. HATE.”
>>323331785 kek wait till the story really gets going if you wont rage quit after getting fed some of the worst written exposition and plot then good job i barely made it but the ending made me physically angry at that hack Lewine
